I am so glad we found this spot. My old fashioned was one pf the best i have had. Dessert was amazing. We went for Mother's Day and treated ourselves to steak and cheesecake. I would love to come back and sit outdoors. It is a quaint apot, good food, hood service.

Commander's Cut

BLUF: Really tasty food, but be prepared for a crowded space and rough service. Food (4/5): Overall, the food is fantastic and full of delicious flavor. The cheesecake was a huge highlight! I was pretty let down by the Commander's Cut, as half of my steak was cartilage and just not edible. Also, if you order the crab dip with pretzels, just know the pretzels are already completely covered in the dip. I prefer them separate so they don't get soggy, so it wasn't a hit for me. Service (1/5): Service was definitely the low point of the night. Our waitress just seemed incredibly distracted and not quite listening. She brought over the wrong drink after nodding through our order, snatched my menu out of my hands, and brought us a completely wrong check at the end. Getting the right quantity and size of to-go boxes took a few tries, and she even scoffed and made a mocking comment about my leftovers. Ambiance (2/5): The inside of the restaurant is adorable but very cramped. We actually started at a table outside, but our waitress asked us to move inside because she couldn't handle the patio tables. Even inside, it seemed like too much for her to handle. We were seated so close to the next table that other servers had to squeeze between us to do their jobs. It is a cute spot, but definitely be ready for tight quarters! The one major plus for the location is the parking. There is a lot right down the street with plenty of spaces available.

If someone tells you to go visit Berkeley Springs, you should do it, and this is one of the reasons why. This adorable little restaurant served up some delicious food and cocktails, and had a staff that was so sparkling and friendly. It really made you realize that there's no excuse for poor service. Well, I will say one person was trying to argue us down that a baby wasn't a real person, (front of staff gentleman. Will, other than that, Trinity, the gentleman who I believe was a chef in the back (we didn't get his name), and even the owner Scott, were so kind and so welcoming to this amazing restaurant. But let's get into the food. We ordered three of the items off of the kids menu the Mac for the militia, the minute chicken tenders, and the sliders, all of which came with fries that seemed to be spiral flat fries that were sliced into individual slices, and seasoned to perfection. Absolutely amazing. The steak and cheese, which should always be cheesesteak, but I'll allow it, was good, but could've used a bit of of sauce and also came with those delicious fries. The winner was the Powderhorn Chop, which was a perfectly cooked pork chop, with a cherry Demi glaze, Parmesan risotto, and fresh and crisp green beans. The cherry bounce was their signature drink, and never in a million years would I have put bourbon and Prosecco together but here we are, and it was delicious. The space feels extremely well used, and not overly pretentious. Enjoy!!

Recently arranged a large party here for my friends birthday and we sat in their outdoor seating area which has been winterized with sides and heaters. It was not cold at all! Our waiter was Dennis and he was fabulous.. attentive and so helpful. Our food came out pretty quickly and not many complaints on our end other than the steaks ordered were switched and a few got the wrong temps but still said it was delicious.. The portion sized of the chicken entrees varied which was disappointing as one may had smaller chicken pieces and the others were much fuller. The guests who had salmon said how delicious it was as well. Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves and said they would come back!

Proof on Washington is a great place to indulge yourself. The offerings of whiskey are exceptional. Our bartender was great. I picked out a hard to find rye whiskey and asked for his recommendations on how to serve it in a cocktail. He delivered. Wife enjoyed a refreshing mocktail. Food menu is small by comparison. We got a strange appetizer, but the steak and the pork entree are excellent.

Everything here was not good but excellent! The service, the food, the ambience and their signature cocktails are all things that they should be very proud of. The owner Scott and the bartender Will were very pleasant and you can tell they enjoy what they do. Make sure to make this one of your stops. You will not be disappointed especially if you are a bourbon person. Also there are 2 air b and b's upstairs.

Bar staff were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Good food, but limited menu (not a bad thing, just be aware). Bar area is small but nice, cozy. TONS of bourbon choices!

In my view, good service deserves to be recognized regardless of kitchen performance, and Lydia absolutely earned that. This was our second visit. My wife and I enjoy oysters and were excited to find a nearby spot offering fresh half shells--especially with their $1 oyster special on Tuesday nights. On our first visit, we tried the "double D" oysters, which were large, plump, and fresh--exactly what we were hoping for. They were the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the lobster rolls didn't live up to the same standard. At that price point, they should be more substantial, and the bread should be appropriate for the dish. Instead, the roll was dry and the lobster portion was underwhelming. I'd recommend skipping it. That said, Lydia's service that night was excellent. Last night, however, was a different experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by someone who appeared to be the floor manager, who made seating two people without a reservation feel like an inconvenience--despite several open tables and a largely empty outdoor area. Not a great first impression. Once seated, we struck up a conversation with a nearby table and ordered an appetizer, a dozen mixed oysters, and entrees. I went with the flank steak sandwich featured on the menu, while my wife ordered the paella. The iced tea was good, and my wife's cocktail was well-made and generously poured--no complaints there. The salmon bite appetizer, while tasty, felt overpriced for what it was: essentially broiled salmon on lettuce with a maple glaze. When my sandwich arrived, it came with exactly three overcooked, limp asparagus spears--I should've gone for the tots. The sandwich itself was even more underwhelming: a small bun with maybe three ounces of meat, a few mushy onions, and some cheese. My first bite was mostly gristle and fat. I understand flank steak isn't a lean cut, but when served as a sandwich, it should be properly trimmed and sliced. There's no excuse for a $20 sandwich to be that poorly prepared. The overwhelming taste of black pepper didn't help either. I ended up sending it back after one bite. Lydia handled it as professionally as possible, but I declined a replacement. As for the paella, it raised a different issue--how do you end up with overcooked shrimp and undercooked scallops in the same hot dish? It doesn't make much sense. While the flavor was decent overall, the execution didn't justify the price. To summarize: Lydia is excellent--if you go, take care of her. The oysters remain a strong point: fresh, plump, and enjoyable, though they could be more generous with the horseradish and cocktail sauce. The biggest disappointment was the lack of accountability from management. There was no visit from the floor manager (Mr. Inconvenienced from earlier) or anyone from the kitchen to address the issues, leaving Lydia to handle everything herself. The wait staff deserves better. If you're going for oysters, it's worth a visit. If you're planning a full dinner, be prepared for high prices, small portions, and inconsistent execution. The service staff and menu have potential--but the kitchen needs to step up. One final note: if you're charging $36 for a pour of WhistlePig whiskey, it should be served properly--with a clean glass and appropriate ice. Serving it with debris floating in the glass is unacceptable. You lost that customer too. Lydia is the ONLY reason why this is rated above one star. Kitchen needs to step up. Big. You're going to start losing servers.

After checking in, we were quickly guided upstairs to a cozy, rounded booth--an intimate and perfect spot for two. Our server, Katie, was fantastic--attentive, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest when helping us choose between dishes. We started with the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes, paired with the Black Sheep Mule and a watermelon cocktail (wish I remembered the name!). For our mains, we ordered the short rib rigatoni and the steak bulgogi bowl. To finish, we shared the weekly dessert special: an Earl Grey tres leches. Everything was exactly what I hoped for and more. The starters were standout, the entrees were packed with flavor, and the overall aesthetic of the space was just beautiful. We'll definitely be back--next time for brunch!

It was also my first time at The Black Sheep but I had always heard wonderful things - all of which turned out to be true. The loft area is beautiful and overlooks the entire restaurant. Also when you reserve the loft, which holds up to 16 people, you order off the regular menu. I loved this as other places I checked into were much more restrictive with a higher minimum spend and fixed menus for groups larger than 8. We had 12 in our group. We started with a bunch of appetizers for the table and cocktails. Appetizers included the bacon tower, fried green tomatoes, hushpuppies, crispy chicken wings, and Mediterranean garlic shrimp. Dinner entreés were jambalaya pasta, the American wagyu burger, pulled short rib rigatoni and branzino almondine. There were zero complaints. We enjoyed EVERYTHING!! The bourbon butter cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert literally took me over the top. My belly was ready to burst :) Our waiter was attentive throughout the entire time and everything we ordered came out perfect. I must go back soon. It is a distance from where I live but there's so many things on the fabulous menu I want to try.

We made reservations since we were a group of 6 including 2 infants, and these were warranted as the restaurant progressively filled up as we got closer to peak brunch hours. We were offered a large booth, which was appreciated as we needed space for the babies. The food here tasted quite good. My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. As the name alludes, the drink program is strong and offers something for everyone. In addition to wine and whisky, a solid selection of both cocktails and draft beers are available. Prices for both food and drinks were quite reasonable given the quality of what we received. I do dock a star for just so-so service. Our waitress was a bit MIA during the first part of our meal when we were trying to order, and then kept checking in on us every 5 minutes once our food arrived. We also had to remind her a few times to get a high chair for our little one. Fortunately, the food and drinks all arrived accurately and within a timely manner once ordered. Service woes aside, the creative fare satisfied our taste buds and we look forward to returning soon for to sample more of the brunch menu and libations.

It's nothing crazy complicated, but it was still very tasty and well cooked. The drinks are in the lines of a dive bar, but kind of modernized/elevated. They infuse some of their own mixes that they use for custom drinks, which I think is cool. The decor feels very homage-y to dive bars with lots of signs and stickers with sarcastic/vulgar humor. They also have a small arcade and billiards table in the back. Overall, it's a very cool spot with a friendly atmosphere. You should totally check it out if you're in the area.
