Proper cloth is a fully customized dress shirt site with a shop in NYC. Shirts are pricey. My experience is with the shop but the online system is super easy to navigate and work with also. I booked an appointment online. PRO TIP - slots after work and on weekends book up fast. There are plenty of slots but they go fast. They are closed on Sundays also. When i arrived - I saw a pretty open cool working space. The front half of it is for clients to get tailored and teh backhalf is a working area for employees that is covered by a drape. They have plenty of samples out also to browse and a couch to sit on while you wait. However - i was immediately greeted by my personal tailor, who offered something to drink (nice touch guys! A+ for that one!). We sat at a table and briefly discussed what my goals are for what I am looking for (fit/purpose/etc) and then we went to work on measuring me out using one of their dress shirts. They took a ton of measurements to get things right and always asking how it felt before they inputted the measurement into my profile. FYI - we created a profile on their website before we started. After measuring - we began working on the small nuances of the dress shirt. Did we want to take a quarter inch off one side so i can have my watch come out? What kind of cuffs and buttons do I want? How many? What kind of collar do I want (BTW - there are tons of choices for this, so ask the professional what is best for your purpose). Once we had teh overall shirt details down - we went about picking out a color scheme and fabric. I went with the 125 dollar type of fabric rather than their 95 dollar fabric as the tailor explained it was a better fabric and had a better overall feel to it and was more suited for business purposes. THERE ARE A TON OF COLOR SCHEMES. Just check out their website. I am amazed. After ordering my dress shirt that day - it takes about a FULL two weeks to make it and ship it. Don't worry - Proper Cloth will email you when your item is shipped out from Taiwan. Once it is shipped - it only took 2 days to arrive. Overall product - First impression - it came in a really fitted box and the presentation was immaculate. Just really good. However - when i touched teh fabric - it felt really cheap and I was not impressed at all. The fit wasn't great also as it was really tight on the chest. However - Proper Cloth combats this as they allow remakes to get the size correct and it's free I booked a 2nd appointment for a remake and brought in the first dress shirt! They talked to me about how they were going to change it. We ordered a 2nd shirt (aka remake) and it came out well-done. We got it right on the 2nd time and it cost me nothing! Overall - you will get a fully customized shirt to your liking but the fabric is not good, especially the 125 dollar one. 4 stars for the experience. Not 5 stars b/c the fabric is no good. TIP - THE DRESS SHIRTS ARE NOT WRINKLE FREE OR NON IRON. Beware! For me - this is a non issue as I steam my dress shirt every morning. read more

They shipped to me one of their home try on kits for jackets/sport coats. It has lines and marks on it. I then had a conference call with one of their specialists, and he was able to create a custom size for me based on the kit coat I was wearing. These have to be the best and most comfortable masks I've worn. The breathability is superb and the fit is wonderful. I can now wear a mask all day without having creases left on my face or feeling Iike I'm not getting enough air. The fact that even the filter can be washed at the same time as the mask, not needing to replace with new filters, makes it an even better product. They're well worth the price. I've found that size small works perfectly for me being a woman and the large fits just as well for my brother. read more

Shirt, colors, fit, cuffs, collar. Everything. I'm now slowing migrating out all of my non Proper casual shirts, as they just don't compare to the fit and quality of my Proper shirts. Proper Cloth trains customer service representatives at Zendesk to deny proper service for a return and not provide free shipping unless the customer insists profusely. The result is that PC is deceptive about it's customer relationships, making for a horrible customer experience for something that should be tailor-made and and optimized for satisfaction. This experience caused me to give up requesting an alteration and just get a return and be done with this company. The most flattering set of shirts I've ever owned - period! I order custom-everything the majority of the time because I am 6'7", 205 lbs, 37.5 arms, 15.5 neck. Its like crossing the neck of a giraffe with Stretch-Arm-Strong. Most things off the rack simply look badly out of fit on me. Proper Cloth is an outspend service that solved this annoying problem of mine. Of course, their service is equally great for people with more normal body types. Either way, they offer a large selection of fabrics, collars, and options with their shirts. Not living in the NYC area is not a problem; I ordered online after measuring my best fitting dress shirt with the great help of their video tutorial, and they absolutely nailed the fit on the first try. I had to send the shirt back to be altered because I found the "slim" option on the forearms to be too tight + I selected the wrong collar. After filing a request for an alteration and mailing my old shirt back, my replacement Proper Cloth appeared on my mailing address within three weeks. And of course, it looked and fitted just as prefect as it did the first time. I opted for traditional two pleated forearms instead on one pleat, and a slightly bigger "English Spread" collar instead of the smaller but equally handsome "Franklin Spread". The price point for most of their shirts is comparable to Brooks Brothers and Ledbury. Their most expensive fabrics are from Thomas Mason at over $200. Obviously, much of what they offer is luxury. However, even their most entry level of shirts (around $95) is certainly within the ballpark of what most designers charge. Most of my office/work shirts from Proper Cloth are $95 and the quality and construction of even their "entry-level" fabrics feel comfortable and wear handsomely. Plus, it's made JUST FOR YOU! I am a relatively shorter guy with shorter arms but a wider neck, so finding a shirt off the rack (no matter what brand) is always a horrifying experience. My boyfriend has a physique that just doesn't work with off-the-rack shirts, so Proper Cloth seemed like the perfect solution. I convinced him to go through the measurement instructions so that he could finally get shirts that fit right. Unfortunately, when the shirt arrived, it was still not quite right in many areas. Figuring that I may have messed up the measuring process, I convinced him to visit Proper Cloth personally since we had an NYC trip planned anyway. By the time we'd finalized the travel plans, there was no more appointment availability on the Proper Cloth website, but I called in and was told that we could try walking-in at our convenience. Sadly, staff could not have seemed more unhappy to see us. No one uttered a word of greeting; a guy behind the front desk just glared at us as we exited the elevator and then he walked off. Another person sitting at a desk made eye contact and then ignored us to work on his laptop. After a few minutes, we approached a third person who was off to the side, who only then curtly asked if we had an appointment. It was then we were told that they *never* do walk-ins. The only exception is if there is already an empty 30-minute appointment block (in which case, I could have booked it on the website - duh!) I was really annoyed by this - why would someone tell us on the phone to try walking-in if they never do walk-ins? Even after mentioning we came in from out of town and would make time all day, the answer was simply that they were not going to make time to help us (and remember, Proper Cloth makes a point to advertise that their measurement system only takes 10 minutes). And all this, despite three staff members sitting around the showroom with no other customers in sight. EDIT TO ADD: It took nearly a month and multiple requests via e-mail/messaging after my return was delivered to them to finally get my refund. Proper Cloth has gone well out of their way to demonstrate to me that they do not care at all about customer service. read more

I'm a regular customer of this store, and I would rate the quality and value of their clothing as five stars. However, today I had an experience with their downtown staff that I would rate as one star. For starters, I don't live near them, but had plans to be in their neighborhood, so I looked on Apple Maps to see if they were open or closed. The listing said that the store was open. I then called the store to try to make an appointment for 1:00 which went to voicemail, with no one returning my call. When I walked inside the store, I was told by one of two gentlemen working there that they weren't open. I explained that they were listed as open. The reply wasn't, "oh, sorry for the mistake, as long as you're here, is there something simple we can help you with?" It was, "oh, we'll have to look into that, you should make an appointment and come back." I explained that I tried to make an appointment and that to come back would require an additional one-hour round trip. I said that what I needed was quite simple, to look at a particular linen cloth sample that their website said was only in this branch, before ordering a shirt. Seeming put-out, he pulled one of several cloth sample books off the shelf, said "it's probably in here," and walked away. Of course, it wasn't. The website is great and the first order was easy. The first shirt did not fit properly but that was no problem. I simply submitted some photos as instructed (very easy to do)and a professional made suggested alterations. Proper Cloth has kept my business due to impeccable quality in materials and construction. I am on my fourth shirt from them and have been extremely satisfied with each one. I have modified the measurements of the last two shirts a bit to get a variety of looks and fits to meet my needs. I really appreciate that I can tweak the different components as well. Want a pocket? Add a pocket. In one of several styles. Want a mandarin collar? Go for it. Want accent fabrics in the cuffs and/or collar? Go ahead, no problems. I even love that I can upgrade the buttons or change their color. The variety is absolutely endless. The only problem is all those options can make a person crazy with choices if you don't go with the default settings. I recommend visiting a style guide site to understand the different parts of a shirt to be able to decide what options will achieve the look you desire. I'm so happy I did. I made a mistake on the measurements I entered and the shirt sleeves came back shorter and narrower then I could use. I followed the directions anyway washed the shirt to check the rest of the fit and submitted my alteration request ( they give you two free alterations) I also discovered the first shirt wasn't quite the color I was looking for, so I asked Proper Cloth to change it as well. Perfect fit the first time around, illustrating the accuracy of the algorithms. PC sends you a test shirt on which you can direct multiple modifications. With the test shirt fit approved, they produce the balance of the order. I'm a tall guy with broad shoulders and freakishly long arms and am blown away by the fit and finish of the garment. The single downside: My 20 or so existing $25 dress shirts ( $500) are now functionally obsolete. I will never wear them again, so I need to dispose of them and upgrade my closet to all PC shirts. read more
