Prior to my first visit there four years ago, I avoided the dentist for years due to a traumatizing experience with my previous dentist. My visits used to consist of blood, sweat, tears, and stress. Because 2 trusted friends recommended this place, I went and boy did I receive the EXACT fast paced, salesy dental experience that I freaking HATE. I guess the dentist thinks he's cool or whatever because his chair-side manner was waaaaaaay to familiar for me. He ran through his proposed plan that included extracting my wisdom teeth. When he said that, I knew I wouldn't be back. The LAST THING you want to ever have removed from your body is BONE!! And good dentists only make that suggestion when it is the ultimate last resort. My dentist is in Flushing and I thought that maybe I should find someone local. No, Nicole - that was a HORRIBLE idea. I hate going to the dentist. I am traumatized from when I got my braces as a kid. My orthodontist put the cotton things in my mouth to dry for a bit, FARTED a silent-but-deadly one and walked out of the room only to leave me both nose and mouth breathing his pungent fart. Gross. Now I always associate dentists with pain and all things awful. I cringe at the thought of going to the dentist more than laser hair removal. That being sad, this experience was probably the most easy and friendly dental visits in life. It was easy to schedule an appointment and the front counter staff was super nice. The dental office was clean, close to the subway with new stuff-- digital xrays and all. They didn't try to pressure me into extras ( I had a Groupon). The best part was they explained everything. Lennie was my dental hygienist and she was awesome and quick. My teeth felt great and squeaky clean after. Dr. D is a wonderful dentist. He was very kind and explained everything. He was gentle and even applied vaseline to my lips so they wouldn't get chapped. When I came back a few days later to pick up whitening trays, he sat down with me and gave me full instructions and answered all my questions. Dentist visits used to be a real pain until I switched to Dr. Duzedevich and his friendly staff. The office is in a nice space that is conveniently close to the subway. Everyone greets you with a smile and very approachable with questions. The staff make sure that you are extremely comfortable before any procedure. And the best part is that the dentist has a great sense of humor and always provide detailed and informative answers to all my questions. I just moved here for school and didn't have a dentist but had a bad toothache. This place initially sounded like a good deal- $95 for an exam and x-ray. The dentist ended up saying the tooth just needed cleaning out around the gums, poked around a bit, and sent me home with a $230 bill.... I came back to the office two days later because the pain was still there- this time I saw a different doctor who told me that I needed a filling replaced and that it would cost me $375... on top of the $230 I already paid for nothing... and I'd have to leave a $50 deposit for an appointment. I called three other dentists in the area, all of who quoted me $225-250 for a filling tops, so I called the office to cancel my appointment. I had to have my x-rays transferred from ProSmile to my new dentist and they said I'd have to pay $35 to email my digital x-rays! A doctor friend of mine informed me that this is likely against federal law (Section 164.524 - Access of individuals to protected health information of the HIPAA). They eventually agreed to wave the fee. Anyway, I got the filling replaced elsewhere for $195, and the toothache is gone :) read more

As far as dentists go, I was very happy with my experience. Quick service (both my cleaning and later fillings took no longer than 45 minutes apiece), professional staff, state-of-the-art technology (they have one of those digital x-ray machines that displays your x-rays instantly on a computer monitor attached to your chair), a gentle touch, and straightforward billing (my bill was what they told me it would be, no upselling pressure tactics). I found these guys on the Blue Cross Blue Shield website randomly - they were the closest to my apartment - and was happy that they delivered. I can't speak for more complex procedures as I just had the basics done, but I'd be comfortable going back there for additional work. read more

Really bad communicators. So they were having an issue with my insurance. So instead of calling when they found out, to clarify things, they wait till the day of the appointment. O... K.... So they tell me to call and iron out the issues with my insurance provider. I do. I call them back informing them, they respond saying they will call my provider to affirm.... They never do. This was all two hours before the appointment. I am writing this at 1:21. The appointment is for 2! I live in Queens, as they know. They are located in Manhattan. I think I will be calling back to cancel the appointment and find a better dentist office elsewhere. The worst experience ever, and I regret going there. I chose this dental because it was near my workplace. I wanted to go in for a regular cleaning and check on one of my tooth that was aching. I received the cleaning, but never receive work on that aching tooth, doctor said it looked fine. Instead they suggested for me to do two root canal, and I felt peer pressured from the things they were saying that could happen if I don't the procedure.I mentioned to them, as long as it's with in my insurance I do not mind. Many appointments later, I still ended up spending $900 after they maxed out my dental insurance. The temporary cap for my root canal fell off a day later. I also had two cold sores from the root canal. Then when the real cap came in, they mentioned that they were unable to cap my tooth, and that it was fine that there was empty there. Also they tried to charge me $500 more on top of all I had spend, even though it was there miscalculation, and they are aware of it. I didn't want to argue with them, since they are doing work on my teeth and I'm alright they might do a poor job if I upset them. I felt devastated. overwhelmed, and scammed. I did not expect to spend any money since I have good dental insurance, all I wanted was cleaning and maybe a filling for that one bad tooth, somehow they maxed out my $2500 dental insurance, charged me $900, and left me with one missing tooth in the back of my mouth. I wished I had more time to decide, and picked a better dental place. read more

Have a been a patient for many years and I always feel confident that I will receive quality dental care. This time was no exception.

I am vacationing from out -of- town and of course on my 3rd day here, my upper left side begins to feel numb and slightly painful on and off, which I've never felt before. By the 5th day I am suspecting an infection so I ask my good friend for a referral to her dentist knowing that in my limited time here, there's a huge probability that he won't be able to see me. To my surprise, Dr. Duzdevich answered the phone and told me that if I came ASAP, he would see me. When I got to his office, the person at the desk, Margaret, who was very friendly, told me that unfortunately, he had an implant that would take at least 1.5 hrs. But then, Dr. Duzdevich introduced himself and he was so kind and friendly and he immediately had me do x-rays to see what was going on. I thought I would have to wait another hour after the x-rays but he came back immediately (even though he was with another patient) and confirmed that I had an infection, issued me antibiotics, and off my daughter and I went to enjoy the rest of our day in NYC. I cannot thank him enough as I feel so much better and I have another 8 more days of vacation left and because of him, I can enjoy spending this invaluable time with my kids. Also, the bill was really reasonable for his time and the x-rays and really I appreciated how personable he and his staff were. I would definitely have ProSmile as my dentist if I lived in NY and am recommending him to my son who just moved here. Ironically, I saw the good friend who referred me and told her and her boyfriend, how great Dr, D was and now the boyfriend is considering going to him too. Thank you, Prosmile!! read more

I haven't been to the dentist in years, because I lost my job and insurance. That was 3 years ago. Now that I have insurance I figured I'd go back to the dentist. Before going to Prosmile I had gone to this place that treated me like a piece of meat. After finding out I haven't been to the dentist in years they found 14 cavities. I didn't know I had that many teeth in my head! Anyway, I ran out of there as fast as my feet took me. A friend at work said, "Go to my place they'll treat you right", and she was right. The staff at Prosmile is young but has been doing this for years. They called my insurance carrier and before they sat me down, they explained how my insurance worked and what my benefits are, no one ever did that before. I had the best cleaning ever. X-rays are digital, which means minimal radiation and what's even better; the images pop up on the screen instantly, not like my old dentist. They even took pictures and showed me which of my old metal fillings were still good and showed me which ones needed changing to clear fillings. 4 cavities in all, a far cry from 14 the other place said. The dentists were all very nice and easy going. I was lucky to have found Prosmile. For years I wanted to replace 2 missing teeth I had to extract because I was rushed for time when my dental insurance was running out. Turns out one of the doctors, one of the brothers is an expert in dental implants and showed me how affordable it could be. The best part is that now I can fill in those spaces that show when I smile. I'm so excited, made my appointment and can't wait for next Monday to get my dental implants in. Prosmile is the best place ever! They're honest; they take their time with you and educate you on what you need. Most importantly, they listen to what you want. It was easy to make an appointment and they are close to the 1,2,3 and the C or B trains; but for me, I'm even luckier because on a nice day I can walk across Central Park. read more

This office has a warm family style environment created by a friendly staff; I never feel like just a number. Dedicated lead doctors are supported by thorough hygienists which make my cleanings as painless as possible! Overall good choice and very easy to get to - a block away from the 2/3 line. I've been a patient for 20 years and have complete confidence in them

This was my first visit to this Dentist. I had xrays done by the technician and the technician went over the xrays with me. (I never saw a Dentist which has always been the usual practice.) The technician would take the xrays and the Dentist would come in to explain the xray. That was never done. I felt very uncomfortable with this dental service. The first feeling was when I made the appointment and the receptionist called me back to ask for my social security number. My union has a union number for our benefits. Secondly, when the technician proceeded to tell me I would need a root canal, a crown, and another filling on top of an existing filling, etc. I felt like they were racking up dollars at my expense. After the cleaning and the xray, I requested that they give me a copy of my xrays, they said they would "email them to me", they never did. I am always weary when a medical service runs down a list of procedures that they think you need. It makes me think that the most important thing they want from you is to make as much money from you as they can. The experience for me was "scary and uncomfortable". I left wanting a second opinion, and I never had a feeling like that from any other Dentist I went to. read more

I was told that one of my molars had to be removed because it was sensitive during the exam. They said that that it could not be fixed with a filling or root canal. It then took two of them two hours ( an hour each) to remove it which suggests to me that it did not need to come out in the first place. They removed bone in the process that they said required a bone graft to repair. I felt pressured to sign up for their financing to do the implant procedure. I wish i had gotten a second opinion before allowing them to remove what was probably a healthy tooth. read more

The worst dental cleaning I've ever gotten. My hygienist was Carolyn. She left visible brown stains between my teeth. I blame myself that I didn't ask her for mirror (all hygienists I visited previously offered me a mirror to look at my teeth after work). The staff at ProSmile are extremely friendly and professional. The office is conveniently located and the street view provides a nice distraction while you are on the chair. I had an Invisalign treatment for a year and had to come for check up every 6 weeks. I travel a lot and I was afraid my irregular visits would hinder the process, but Dr. Vel Duzedevich was very accommodating and even shipped my retainer overseas to follow my itinerary. In the overall I had a great, problem-free experience both with Invisalign and ProSmile and I fully recommend this clinic. read more

I just had a horrific experience with Pro Smile located on West 72nd St. ...very close to my apartment. I called my insurance company asking for local area dentists in my neighborhood ...they gave me a dentist located at 53 West 72nd St. I called the number asking to make an appointment with the recommended doctor my insurance representative gave me. They took down my insurance information....and made an appointment. I had to wait about two weeks to see their dentist. They never identified themselves as ProSmiles...so I thought it was a private practice. At any rate, I called them to re-schedule for I was not feeling well. They gave me another date ...again having to wait about 10-12 days. This time they told me...that I would be seeing another one of their dentists. I asked why? Well, the other dentist is not available right now. Oh...you have a group of dentists ....I asked. "Yes...we are ProSmile." Oh..so this is not an exclusively a private practice. "No" was the reply from the office assistant. And, we have a policy ...she said...that if you cancel more than once ....even though you give us a 24 or 48 hour notice....we will NOT re-schedule you another appointment. I asked...."even if it is an emergency?" Well, in that case she replied...we would probably make an exception. Okay...I now understood their policy which should have been explained to me when I initially called. So...she re-scheduled me ...and then about a week before my appointment ...I got a call from the office assistant...asking could I come at 12Noon instead of 2PM which was my appointment time. Since I live right around the corner....I told her...."yes"...I can come earlier. All was fine....except on the morning ....of my appointment which was yesterday..Oct. 23rd....I get a call from my landlord telling me that there is a leak in the downstairs first floor apartment...and it is coming from my bathroom. They wanted to send the plumbers right away...would I be home. "Yes...but I have a dentist's appointment and must leave my house ...no later than 11:30AM." No problem...the plumber comes...it is a more complicated job than initially he initially thought. He had to go to the plumbing supply store to get a special pipe. He would be back in 45 mins. He returned ...continued to work....on the problem. I looked at the clock and it is close to 11AM...I got to get dress for my appointment....I ask the plumber...how much longer will you need to finish the job. At this point...the toliet didn't flush at all. He said...he needed another twenty mins. I thought...no....I will need time to wash and get dressed...so I better call ProSmile. I spoke to the office assistant who was very nice ...I explained the situation....asking could I come there at 12:30PM....she put me on hold .....to check.....comes back to me stating..."sorry...we can't see you at that time." Well...what about the original time I had ...2PM....she put me on hold....came back to me...."no, sorry, we can't see you at that time as well. We are all booked." I explained to her that it is very important I see Dr. Brooks...ASAP...for I have a heart condition....called Ad Fib ....and it requires me to take a blood thinner now...my doctor prescribed this new blood thinner advising me that I get my teeth cleaned and worked on....before I start taking the medicine because when you take a blood thinner and you go to the dentist...you have to stay off the meds for at least 3 days....for if you don't ...you will bleed a lot...and it is too difficult for the dentist to do his work. So...it was very urgent I see Dr. Brooks ASAP....could they fit me in later in the week. She put me on hold ...yet again....got back to me...and told me.....now hold onto to your hat....she told me after all this time...that they don't take my insurance after all. i I I asked her..."why did it take you over 3 weeks to determine this....your associate checked out my insurance when I first called....and now you tell me after making two appointments with me....you don't take my insurance?" Yes...she replied....we just got word from your insurance company. I asked her when did they receive notice from the insurance company. She didn't know...I then asked to speak to the office mgr. I was kept on "hold" for over 5 mins. I waited..and when I spoke to the mgr. she told me she didn't have the exact date of notice. And the reason they could no longer help me...was that there was only one doctor on their staff that took my insurance and he was out of the office indefinitely. I asked ...due to a medical leave? "Yes"..she replied. But then why did you assign me to another dentist after all this time...she couldn;t answer me. Why did you not call me to explain the situation? Why did you give me today's appointment? She couldn't answer me. Now really...how inefficient is this office....how rude of them...to string me along after three weeks.
