Good: food is decent Bad: nasty owner I visit Concettas maybe once a year. This time was really unfortunate, and I hope for the owner's sake my experience was just a fluke. Now for the story... I was taking my 93 year old mother to lunch, and parked in the lot to the left side of the door. That side only has a few spaces but chose it because it's close to the door. My mother can't walk far; she has to use a rollator. Before I got out of the car to help her get out, she started complaining about feeling tired and hurting from her leg problem, so I asked her if she'd rather get take-out instead, and she was fine with that. A gentleman walking past my car must have misheard me and questioned why I was there, asking "Are you going to be eating here?". I was a little confused, but answered him quickly and perhaps incorrectly saying, "No". No sooner did I say that and he was all over me complaining that I couldn't stay there because he has to pay for those parking spaces. After his rant I got to explain that I was just going to get take-out... if that was OK with him. He seemed to agree, and walked away. My mother asked, "What was his problem?" I didn't have a good answer for her, but instead of leaving right away in disappointment I went ahead and walked in, apparently after he went in. I ordered from the nice girl that was at the register. As I was waiting for my order, the man was in the kitchen, never looked at me again, didn't bother apologizing for any miscommunication or attitude, just stuck to his work. OK, fine, let him do what he needs to do. As I was driving home my mother insistantly asking me, "What was wrong with that guy?". I responded, "Well, I'm not sure. Maybe he just had a bad day". I further explained that I've always liked that place. But I'm never going back there after that experience." Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. By the way, the sub rolls are rather dry and stale... for both of us. I'd give four stars for the food in the past, but would only give one star to the man who sounded like he was the owner. So three stars is an overall score, not a one-time score. This time was two stars... as I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. read more

Our group went for lunch & had the classic platter, the western omelette, & sausage gravy from the all day breakfast menu, which was all delicious. I had the grilled cheese on Italian bread with provolone cheese & the sausage & cabbage soup which a chicken broth base combo. We had cannolis & the cannoli cookies for dessert were all great. The place is very small with limited tables to sit after you order at the counter, & have a limited time of 60 mins to stay at your table. What a cute bistro! Their menu looked pretty great and after my meal I am VERY excited to come back in the future. Thankfully it's right by my favourite thrift store too. What we got: Frozen pizza dough - 5* delicious and easy to make your own pizza at home with this dough! House Made Creamed Chip-Beef - 5* wow. Just wow! This was a fantastic meal. Rich, filling, full of flavor. It's made in store with fresh ingredients and you can tell. I got mine with biscuits and they were divine. They didn't look like much but they were toasted to perfection and had the best texture. I'd highly recommend giving this dish a try. Western Omelette - 3.5* the omelette was on the smaller side but was fluffy, the vegetables were crisp, and it was satisfying. We got it with challah bread (which when sliced looks like toast, haha) and that was delicious. Would probably not get it again due to price and size ratio but did not regret trying it. I was so excited to finally try Concetta's, and while my Italian cold cut sub was good, I noticed when I got home that it didn't have all of the meats it was supposed to. The menu lists Genoa salami, soppressata, and capicola. My sub only had Genoa salami and regular ham. Again, it was good, but not quite what I wanted. read more

On Sunday evening, May 7th I was very fortunate to have Concettas Main Street Bistro in Mt. Airy Maryland cater my daughter's bridal shower at a local vineyard for approximately 35 guests. Concettas' helped to plan the menu, prepared, delivered, and set up a beautiful looking and delicious charcuterie spread with decorative cheese, meats and desserts of all kinds. It was truly "Over the top," said several guests. Everything was created with elegance and attention to detail. I would highly recommend them to all. My wife and I shared Cream of crab soup and BBQ Shrimp BLT on Ciabatta with Guacamole spread. All the while, sitting outside near the natural rock wall. Right in downtown Mt Airy. Soup was awesome. The worlds worst muffuletta. The bread was dry and thick like a hockey puck. Don't call this sandwich a muffuletta call it anything but. The olive spread was as thin as Mayo. This people is not in anyway shape or form a muffuletta. Take it off the menu it's sad and pathetic. The food here is good, our party of 4 each had a sandwich, nothing amazing but not low quality. The crab soup has good taste but there were several pieces of shell in it so be careful. As for the customer service... the main woman who works here is rude and was fighting with her employees as we tried to order. When we told her we wanted to pay separately she snapped at us saying that she already knew that except when we paid, she put it all on one bill which was annoying and unprofessional that she yelled at us and then continued to do the thing we told her not to. Her employees are all young college age people who have probably never worked in a restaurant. One spilled salad dressing on our table (everyone makes mistakes of course) but never apologized and just picked it up and walked away. Would possibly come back if it was convenient but wouldn't go out of my way. Be nicer to your customers. read more

Adorable Italian food store on Main Street. The owner stocks hard-to-find fresh and dried pasta, olives, breads, cheeses, etc... They also offer deli-style Italian subs, pasta salads, and lunch meats. There's a few tables outside so you can enjoy the weather and people watch on Main Street. I ordered a mozzarella, basil, and tomato sub and it was very authentic and delicious, but kind of pricy. The bread was probably the standout ingredient, perfectly crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. I also indulged in a few bags of pasta, but at $5 a bag, it's something that I considered a treat and wouldn't buy regularly. However, if you're a serious fan of Italian food, drop by here and you're sure to find some unusual things that MD supermarkets don't carry. read more

Stopped in while driving through this lovely quaint town. Only place open early that had an outside eating area. Absolutely lovely! My husband had a bagel egg sandwich and I had an egg sandwich on wheat toast. Portions are generous and plenty of bread choices. Dining area clean inside but we chose to eat outside in the garden area Which is lovely with a wheelbarrow full of flowers and plants as well as other containers with herbs growing. This is an easy review.... simply put, this place will not disappoint. Go here if you are looking for great food, great service, and a great atmosphere! I've eaten here a number of times, normally order from the breakfast menu. Everything I have ever order has been outstanding! In particular, the cream chip-beef is stellar. I normally do not care for this dish, but I order it at Concetta's! They have a large breakfast and lunch menu, as well as a number of items you can order for your home cooking needs. One nice treat is they offer cannoli shells and cannoli filling. Not many places in the Frederick county/Carol county offer home cooked/baked options like that. The location is owner operated so it has a wonderful feel to it, the service and entire staff is great. There are a few parking spots located right next to the restaurant, but if they are full there are a few larger public parking lots located right up the road, only about 100 yards away. I highly recommend Concetta's over the Mt. Airy Inn, which is the other go-to breakfast/brunch option in Mt. Airy. Concetta's is better, cheaper, and is located only about 2 mins up the same road (Main St.). read more

This is not a fast food joint! 2. You will not receive a "check" at the end of your meal so dont ask for one! 3. HOWEVER, dont forget to pay after your table has been cleared! Many of us have been conditioned to leave after our table has been cleared. In our case, we were sitting outside and honestly almost left without paying (we were engrossed in conversation).
