Prospect Point at Stanley Park is a heavily trafficked tourist spot which delivers a view of the Burrard Inlet and a partially obstructed view of first narrows Lions Gate Bridge. There is no free parking here. Paid parking only. Most tour guides will take their tour groups here for a brief pit stop and photo opportunity before hopping back onto the Tour Bus. The Prospect Point Cafe is located here and is a great place to get ice cream and drinks. What's their tagline again? Burgers, brews and beautiful views! Who doesn't love this view? Absolutely stunning. One of my favourite places in Vancouver. If you haven't been here you're missing out! Love the cafe too. The Lions Gate Bridge is prevalent in the background, along with views into West and North Vancouver, in addition to the Vancouver Harbor. Tons of people taking selfies and pictures. This is for the food as there isn't a restaurant to review. The fries were pretty good and so was the ice-cream. But I really want to rave about the Hokey Pokey ice cream. It's sooo good! We ended up having it at the Capilano Suspension Bridge too. We were so excited when we saw they had it too. read more

While hiking Stanley Park we took the trails leading up to Prospect Point to enjoy the view. There are several paths that you can take through Stanley Park and many of them criss cross allowing for various ways to get to the location. I imagine if I lived close I would never tire of running them with all the variety available. Once we got to the Point we checked out the little shop with tourist items and also noticed an ice cream shop and restaurant. It probably makes for a nice little stop for those who've been exploring the park for awhile or those stopping by on a tour bus. We headed over and enjoyed the view of Lions Gate Bridge, the water, and the city. Perfect spot for a picture or just some good ol fashioned admiration of the scenery. read more

For a chilly day and being in higher altitude making more chilly, coffee or tea (honestly, anything hot) could make any thing better for the hands and the body. So, I went to grab a quick Americano before closing. So, I entered 18minutes before closing as I am looking at the receipt, they decided not to take cash...because they literally started closing with cash count few minutes before I entered. Well, that was annoying because no where near my home or places I visited treated customers like that. You could say it's Canada and you got to do the Canada way, but the tone was rude. Americano was americano like nothing can go wrong unless if the coffee is terrible. Again, why did i exchange the currency when more than half the spots were card only OR FORCED to pay card. read more

I walk the seawall daily and have passed this site from below, always looking up the cliff face at the Prospect Point lighthouse to the tall flag pole and its majestic Canadian flag on high, and occasionally I've walked the inner Park trails leading to this restaurant and lookout point where tourist buses regularly stop. I loved the look of this chalet-like building, with its window walls overlooking the Lions Gate Bridge, huge patio with bright yellow umbrellas, attached cafe serving pastries and beverages, and attached "trading store" selling high-end Vancouver clothing and local souvenirs (and delicious homemade fudge. They'll give you samples too!), and adjacent gelato stand. It really is a beautiful building and a stunning location. The lookout is breathtaking and it's no wonder why the tourist buses stop here. We booked reservations here for a late lunch/early dinner recently (the place closes at 6pm so, unfortunately, can't really have dinner here at a normal time). Our server was amazing (wish I remembered her name): she was from Brazil and was genuinely lovely and attentive and friendly. And the food options were many, with something on the menu to please us all (never an easy feat!). My kids each ordered the poke bowl and I had the barbecue ribs with sweet potato fries. Everything was excellent and the portions were large (we ended up bringing food home). The prices for the meals were rather high, but honestly, the server and the venue and the food were so good, I think it was worth it and definitely, it's the perfect place to bring out-of-towners for lunch or happy hour. The lookout provides a perfect site for photos and the food and drinks at the restaurant are wonderful. I plan on bringing my elderly folks here for lunch when they visit in October. read more

Walked and walked and walked the park. Was parched and hungry when we stumbled into this eatery. Was not busy on a September Wednesday afternoon. Sat on the patio with a view of the bridge through the trees. The weather was perfect. Service folks are happy, friendly and efficient. Food was surprisingly tasty. Portion size was generous to satisfy my ravenous appetite. Drank a pint of a BC pale ale. Was crisp and quenching. Prices were a good value for the above average food quality. Me likes. Gorgeous sunset views here, if you happen to make your way to the northern part of Stanley Park. My husband and I came here during the sunset hours of 8pm last Saturday evening, and it was a treat to see the sun set before our eyes. The lighting and views were amazing, and it was cool to see the bridge in the distance too. There is a cafe nearby for you to pick up some food if you'd like but they close early so keep that in mind. I think they close by 8 pm actually because we tried to visit but they were already closing. We saw so many people taking pictures, it started to get crowded. Parking costs $3.25 per hour, so you'll have to pay that in order to park anywhere inside Stanley Park. I think it's worth the fee though. :) read more

Great place to check out some of the nicer views from Stanley Park. Parking is available in the lot up top. Unfortunately, it's not free. The point is actually made of 2 parts - the lighthouse below (which is only accessible from the Seawall), and the touristy part with the cafe up top. A short walk from the parking lot, is an overpass that crosses over the Stanley Park Causeway. This is where the best night shots of the Lions Gate Bridge can be taken, if one wants a shot from the middle of the road. There is also a lookout point (stairs warning) that goes partially down the hill, which provides a few vantage points overlooking Burrard Inlet, and a side view of the Lions Gate Bridge. I've heard the cafe there is a rip (just like anything non-free in this park), but wouldn't know. read more

We had the seafood platter which could not be considered fresh. The mussels and crab were bland, definitely frozen. For $49CAD, you could do much better. What a nice gem at the end of a very long hike through Stanley Park. This restaurant felt like a little bit of heaven after a very long hike in the park. The bee tasted delicious and very cold, yes! I had the fish and chips and it was so good!! The breading was light and fluffy and the sauce was tasty! The waiter behind the bar which is where I sat was very nice and gave me an amazing service. A great place to ride your bike to and get ice-cream with the family while taking in the views. Went here on the Canada Day long weekend and the trees on the bike route provided some shade from the sun during the heatwave. We were really happy to get a really generous scoop of ice-cream while we took a breather to enjoy the beautiful views. read more

Considering I'm a tourist (I live in Calgary), I wanted to do something tourist-y during my visit to Stanley Park. After hiking around one afternoon with no set destination, I found myself famished and desperate for food somewhere on Park. So I quickly pulled up Yelp on my phone and discovered that there was a cafe near Prospect Point, so I hightailed it over there. Located next to a tourist gift shop, Prospect Point Cafe, while a bit pricey in my opinion, had everything I was looking for. A reasonably-priced-for-what-it-is lunch menu, and a delicious looking dinner menu. I ended up having the Market Fish & Chips, which ended up being Salmon fish & chips. That's something I've never found in Calgary and figured it was something I'd only find near the coast. Salmon is my favourite fish, and this dish didn't disappoint. Meaty and hearty, it was scrumptious and plentiful. Sure, the meal cost about $25 but I was quite full by the end of it. The facility is clean, cozy, and has a nice view of the park. For what it is, I can't complain. If you're visiting the area, you should visit it at least once, if only for the atmosphere. But if you're looking for value for the dollar, I wouldn't be surprised if there were better options. 16/30 read more

The Prospect Point Lookout offers one of the best views in Stanley Park. From the top of the lookout, you are presented with an unhindered view of both the Pacific and North Vancouver. The view of the calming ocean in conjunction with the grandeur of the mountain backdrop is unmatched and breathtakingly beautiful. We had the pleasure of visiting here while a street musician for Er Hu (Chinese string instrument) was playing beautiful music, quite a fitting accompaniment to the scene. It was a beautiful weekend for a walk around Stanley Park. And hot. Too hot. We needed a pit stop for food and refreshments, and alcohol-free concession stands are not my friends. As we arrived at Prospect Point Café, we were greeted by a blast of greatly welcomed air conditioning. We breathed a sigh of contentment and asked for a table for two. As soon as we walked past the reception area and into the dining area, however, we realized that the air conditioning does not permeate the entire restaurant. Out in the dining room, under the sweltering heat of the sun, a few languid ceiling fans were all they had cooling the room. The fans did nothing; the air was stagnant, the table burned to the touch, and my beer warmed before I was half-way through. On a cooler day, I could see the atmosphere being quite nice, with views of the surrounding forest just out the window. I ordered the burger with yam fries. It wasn't inedible. The puck-like patty was dense and salty, but I did really enjoy the potato bun it came on and the yam fries. The yam fries were double-fried, dipped in a light batter on the second frying to create a crackly crispy coating. These were addictive, and I probably could have eaten more if we weren't sitting in such unbearable heat. As expected at these places, prices are over-inflated. The burger with yam fries was $18, and $7.25 for a pint of Granville Island. It's fine for a stop while you're enjoying a day out at Stanley Park, but would never make a destination out of this place. read more

This is a great place if you don't mind waiting and someone in your party can run out to the parking lot to pay for additional parking ($3.25/hr I believe). Fortunately, the food makes up for the wait. I had the salmon & chips ($16). It was huge! Having checked yelp reviews beforehand, I expected a small piece of fish. What I got was a piece of fish the size of both of my fists. The menu said they are currently having a Salmon Festival, so I'm not sure if the large portions were because of the festival or not. The salmon was also very fresh. The vegetable coleslaw was lightly dressed but so amazing and the fries were cooked perfectly. The chefs deserve a ton of credit. It was a fabulously executed plate of fish and chips. The food alone is why I am rating it four stars. However, there are two things about this restaurant that I wasn't happy with. First of all, service took an hour for lunch. I should mention that my fish came only 10 minutes after I ordered it. The problem is the wait staff. There were two servers on the floor with about 7 or 8 tables seated. It took 10 minutes after we were seated for our waitress to take our drink order after we waved our arms to flag her down. Then another 5-10 minutes for our drinks. Then another 10 to get the food then another 10 to ask for the bill then another 10 to ask to pay and then another 10 to remind the server to bring over the machine. Oy. Thankfully, the manager intervened so that I could pay. The second thing is the kids' menu. All items are $10 including drink and ice cream, which is a bit pricey. However, the plates are the same as adult plates and kids are given a lot of food. I recommend making the price $6 and cutting the portion size in half. This could be a very good deal though if you've got a child that can really eat! The setting is beautiful, the food is great, but they could use a little help on the floor. read more

When I was up here, it was ok. I'd parked the motorcycle in the lot, "Walked This Way" (A / RUN DMC) besides the park view and into this place. Good first impression and then I get to my table. The more time went by, the more I realized this table lacked a good wipe and rocked slightly. The food was good, also my chai, I believe I'd gotten and the service was good enough. A lovely spot right at the tip of Prospect Park. It has a cafe at the front and a bar and grill inside. We sat out on the deck with a beautiful view of the harbour. The staff were lovely and helpful. The food being prepared was a little slow but we didn't care too much since it was a lovely view. We got a cold seafood platter to share, and it was beautifully presented with cleaned crab claws, marinated tuna ceviche (or sashimi really), poached prawns, clams and mussels and smoked salmon. For $49 this is extremely good value. You can also get salads, burgers and more. They also have half sized meals for those of you not so hungry. They sell beers, soft drinks and coffees so it's suitable for any crowd. read more

Great seating on a patio high within the trees. Tbh the trees blocked much of the view during the meal, but it was still nice being up there. Very cool. The food was 3/5 - got the blackened chicken sandwich, could have been blacker/had more flavour. The edamame app was good. The Pilsner was great, and my friends call me a beer snob (don't worry, not an IPA-loving hipster). After dinner we ventured to the side of the restaurant where there's a path leading to a great viewing point of the city. Absolutely fantastic view of the mountains and Lions Gate bridge. Slow and some items wrong. Service made up for it. You have to chill and relax and know it's tourist heavy and service strained. Then have another beer. Came here for lunch and was extremely disappointed. Ordered a couple different items; the butter chicken, mac n cheese,& the burger. The butter chicken tasted like chicken cover in tomato bisque. Zero seasoning whatsoever. Rice also was a bit crunchy and tasted old. The mac n cheese came out cold and no cheese flavor and seasoning at all. The pork on top tasted like bland kahlua pork and the arugula on top was a bad addition. The burger was dry and bland, and was cold as well. My friend had notified the waitress ahead of time that it was my birthday, however the complimentary brownie they gave still had frozen nuts on top? The frosting on top tasted like they added a hot chocolate packet to cheap container frosting. Also the server never asked how our meal was, so I never had a chance to ask them to heat anything up. This one of the worst meals we have tried to eat. Simple happy hour menu, order chicken wing and mussels in tomato garlic sauce. Wings were ordered Cajun spice and we so heavy coated in a cayenne style spice mix they were uneatable. The mussels came with 4 of the seven mussels closed and order was sent back to have them try again. In a few minutes the dish reappeared and the taste was off and the mussels were dry and chewy. We ate 2 wing portions and 1 mussel. Go for the view, just don't eat there. read more

Interesting that no matter where a person is in the world, a tourist trap is a tourist trap is a tourist trap. There isn't any heat on in the building during the spring or fall months, and it's waaaay overpriced ($4 for a bottled Minute Maid OJ?), and the coffee is nothing more than lukewarm brown water, but at least the options are there. I mean, if you're starving and on the top of a mountain, where else are you going to get a bite to eat? I'm not about to kill me a bird (and neither should you. I'm pretty sure that's just not legal), so this is a decent option when you want to take in a pretty breathtaking view with a bit of overpriced food and drink. Maybe this place wasn't the greatest a year ago, but we had fun! Definitely touristy, but delicious food and friendly staff! We sat in the actual restaurant and ordered the veggie burger and grilled salmon burger. The veggie burger was fantastic! The salmon burger was pretty good as well. Even on a super rainy day, this place felt warm and relaxing. The view from the actual restaurant isn't the greatest if you want to see the water, but I didn't mind. The only downside was a few leaks in the roof. Hopefully they get those fixed soon! read more

We went to the Prospect Point Cafe looking for a pre-Valentine's brunch. First impressions: great view! I like the atmosphere there, very west coast, real wood, totem poles, a glass roof and right inside our gorgeous Stanley Park. We were seated right away. Our server Shawnean was awesome from beginning to end!. Always smiling, checking on us, and she even told us a bit about the history behind the restaurant. To eat, I was told by their GM to try their salmon bennies and I sure did!. They were actually pretty good!. I always appreciate a good benny and mine were great!. Good hashbrowns, the hollandaise was good (some places make it too rich or thick) and the smoked salmon with green onions was really great!. My husband wanted a club sandwich which they didn't have on the menu but they made it for him and it was quite good. Lots of meat and a huge order of fries. For dessert we got the chocolate decandence cake with ice cream. Overall, the experience was great, I found the prices a bit high for a "cafe" but I guess you pay for the view and ambiance. It would really help the business if they reduce the prices a little bit, they have great potential to become a busier location!. The service was awesome! The food was good and they are doing a great job with Twitter. Rating: I'd say 3 1/2 stars with potential for more. I will be back! read more
