Found this cute French inspired cafe when we were out running errands in the neighborhood. This place is on OpenTable so if you want to secure a seat, I highly suggest doing so. As it was quite packed around noon. I had the Quiche of the day which ended up being an asparagus/ bacon/cheese combo. True to its categorization, it was a light bite. It wasn't warmed quite as thoroughly as I would have liked as parts were still a bit cold. The taste and crust itself was satisfying. My partner had the Croque Monsieur which he enjoyed and said it was a close resemblance to what he remembers from our travels to France. Definitely cheese heavy. We also ordered a Latte & a Cortado. No fancy latte art and if it was intended to be, it did not come out well presented. No real complaints on the latte. Their mains are something I'd return for as some other diners had some delicious looking plates in front of them.

another foodie adventure with a - this time near my hood! a very demure, cute french-inspired west coast restaurant - there's the cutest portrait of a cat in a tuxedo. we were seated quickly as we have a reso and all the servers were very attentive. there was one girl that was always able to catch my eye when i needed her - props to her for that we decided to do wine this time instead of cocktails - i did end the night with a french 75. we found the bestest bc merlot from intersection winery - alluvia is the name in case anyone is interested. for food, we shared everything. for appies, we had the seared scallops and the french onion soup. we thoroughly enjoyed the seared scallops - the scallops were done perfectly and i loved the apple celiac slaw. the chorizo also added a nice kick to the dish. the french onion soup was a bit lacklustre - the onion flavour wasn't as strong as we'd like and it wasn't hot enough. then for mains, we had the west coast risotto and the beef bourguignon. the west coast risotto is essentially a seafood risotto - we loved the seaweed on the bottom cuz it added a nice umami flavour to the risotto. the beef bourguignon was definitely the highlight of the night - the richness of the red wine sauce, the beef was very soft and the perfect mashed potatoes. we loved the sauce so much that we ordered a side of bread to soak up the sauce. all in all, an excellent dinner and i'd love to come back and try the brunch service

Delicious food and live entertainment. We ordered the beef tartar, sable fish and braised lamb. Couple things I would suggest to give it 5 stars. 1. Welcoming guests at the front door and seating them at their table. A waiter greeted my husband at the front door then pointed to our table and expected us to seat ourselves. Not a great first impression. 2. Turn up the heat. We were sitting in the furthest corner table from the kitchen, closest to the front door/window and it was very cold. Other than that, we had a great experience and had a very kind and attentive waiter. Will definitely go back.

Good service, elegant decor, and good food. My west coast salad had delicate flavours with all fresh ingredients. The fries came out hot and they were excellent.

We had reservations and Linda one of the waitresses acknowledged our presence as she was taking care of customers at a table. An Oriental lady came, seated us at a table and gave us menus and water. We asked if they had any specials that evening and she said that we would have to get that information from our server. Chez Michel used to have a very extensive list of specials but that has been cut back considerably. They also used to give complimentary soup or salad if you were seated before 6:00 but apparently this is no longer offered. Our server Linda is absolutely exemplary. She was the hardest working of the servers and had such a pleasant personality. I'm so glad that she was our server. She offered us extra bread and she allowed us to substitute pomme frites for the mashed potatoes on our entrees. She topped up our wine, chatted with us and made our whole evening so much more enjoyable with her attitude and effort to ensure that we were well served during our meal. We shared the escargot as an appetizer and we were given time to digest our appetizer, as requested before our entrees were served. For our entrees my husband had New York steak with pepper sauce and I had veal tenderloin with mushroom sauce. I recall the food as being much better. My husband said that his steak was rather bland and my thin slices of veal tenderloin were on the dry side. It was a good evening mainly because of Linda. It is not as good as it used to be and we'll have to wait and see if the new owners can maintain the high standards and good value that used to be the hallmark when Michel owned the restaurant. I hope that our experience last evening was just growing pains.

Located on the 2nd floor, this cozy eatery didn't disappoint. Our meals began with the requisite complimentary bread and butter. There's just something about fresh, crusty bread that really speaks to me. Plus, they refilled our bread without even asking. We weren't sure how hungry we would be so they offered to prepare a side Caesar Salad ($4.50) instead of a full order. French Onion Soup ($10) is something that I always make a point of trying at a French restaurant and this one didn't disappoint. Lots of tender onions in the bowl and a super cheesy pull with each spoonful. Last up was their Special Moules Frites ($27) - they had a number of ways that this could be prepared but we opted for the saffron, pernod, garlic, butter, and fennel. The mussels comes with a big serving of addictive fries (with a mayo dipping sauce). Speaking of large.... this bowl of mussels was overflowing. The 1lb of mussels were really good (no closed shells) and the mussels were nice and plump. Overall, really good food here and service to match. We're definitely planning on returning in the future.

It was so long ago that I last went, I don't remember what the placed looked like. But what I do remember was the fantastic views over the water and immediate surroundings, and that continues to be a big draw. We had a private corner of the restaurant for the event, and were given a group menu. I ended up trying the Hand Cut Beef Tartare, Burrata Cheese, Sablefish and Beef Tenderloin, and I have the same comment for each of them - all classically prepared focusing on simple ingredients, simple preparation and nicely plated. These dishes are timeless, and I feel that these are same fine-dining dishes that have existed i. high end restaurants in Vancouver from 30 years ago. That's not a bad thing, because they will always please the palate, but in the same vein, not as memorable either. It was actually the desserts that stood out for me, because they were less traditional and more of a surprise. Service was spot-on. We had a dedicated server for our table and she was attentive, friendly and professional. She was everything you would want in fine-dining restaurant. Overall a nice meal. I don't think you can have a bad meal here, but haven eaten at a lot of fine-dining restaurants , I know the dishes won't stand out in my memory either. But the view will, and that's the main reason one would go here.
