If you enjoy German beer then this is your place! If you really have a true love of brautwursts and sauerkraut....you may be able to do better, although I suppose there aren't many other establishments out there. I'll stick with my moms cooking. Great neighborhood pub, with a true "local" feel. Local brews, full bar, wine, you name it. Wait staff that know your name (sound familiar?), soft pretzels fresh out of the oven. Tiny little spot with awesome benches/ tables that all feel hand crafted. A bunch of locals that all know each other. My biggest issue -- there's really nothing to eat (other than pretzels and a salad) if you're Veggie. In 2014, that seems a bit cray cray to me (I don't care if it's German or not, I've spent weeks in Berlin and found *lots* of veggie food). If these guys considering fixing up the menu (hello, at least a sandwich or something?!), I'd give them 5 stars. Bummer. read more

I'm never in a rush when I'm here, so the slow service doesn't bother me... it's pretty charming. The vibe is super chill and I really like that. They have a ton of beers to choose from and a punch card! They don't have a full kitchen, but do little bites like Braunschweiger, pretzels, and sausages. Yummy snacks to have with beer and easy to share with friends. Minus one star because they leave *a lot* of foam on the beer and that's really annoying. Oh braunschweiger, how I love thee. Why doesn't American cuisine have a healthy respect for liver? WHY, I ASK YOU? Ahem, anyway, I had their amazing braunschweiger, served with apple slices and rye bread. My partner-in-crime had their Brautwurst sandwich, which had two types of mustard and a very tender sausage to boot. To say nothing of their amazing beer selection, complete with crazy glasses depending on what you order. Two thumbs way up for this place. read more

Great place to grab a small bite to eat, have a good beer and enjoy a nice conversation with friends. Being from Germany and having visited all the German pubs in the Seattle area, this is probably the most authentic place you can find as far as food, beer, and atmosphere go together (if you are looking for a more cozy laid back atmosphere). The beer selection is rather small (maybe 10 different beers), but it has enough variety between dark, light and wheat beers that will let you find something you like (needless to say, it's German beer, so it's as good as it gets). The food selection is equally small (maybe 10-15 items), but very delicious and tastes truly authentic (I have tried most of their sausage dishes and the pretzel). Most of their portions are a bit on the small side, so ordering a side of pretzel is always a good idea if you are looking for a hearty meal. The atmosphere is probably what I enjoy the most about Prost! It's very laid back, the kind of place you go to sit with a few friends for hours and have a great conversation. The place is rather small with maybe 7 or 8 tables inside, a few tables outside, and 12 seats around the bar, which makes it really cozy. Be warned though, it can take a bit to get a table, even if it's 10:30 PM on a week day. Giving it 4 stars because of the atmosphere, the quality of the food and beer, and the fact that I almost feel at home here. Downside, limited selection of food and beer. read more

This review is solely based on service. We sat in the back of the venue, and my friend brought along his baby in a stroller. I'm not sure if we didn't get much service because it was busy, or because we sat in the back and were forgotten about, or they were discriminating against babies in strollers? Well, it took FOREVER for us to receive our drinks. And it took INIFNITY for an order of a pretzel to even come out (I was thinking that maybe they were rolling the dough from scratch, or milking a cow??). My friend also asked for another beer, and this never even came. This is a place with great ambiance, and seems like a super fun place to enjoy a drink, with the lively atmosphere. We just moved to West Seattle Island and came across this great little German beer tap room and sausage-a-torium. Beers were fresh and well poured and the food really good as well. Nice front porch to dine on during COVID. Chandler was super welcoming. We will be back as regulars. read more

YUM, Franziskaner Weissbier. After dropping into the new Arcane Comics West Seattle location for Free Comic Book Day, a friend of ours not-so-subtly suggested that the three of us stop off at Prost! for a nice German brew. What we found was really a beautiful woody bar/restaurant with a nice selection of German beers that I'd never seen or heard of. The three of us (myself, girlfriend, and friend) ordered the Franziskaner Weissbier and it was totally awesome and banana-y. The service was friendly, too. There wasn't a lot of seating, but after a little while some folks left and we snatched up their table. I'm glad we went. Yummy German beer, and yummy-smelling German food that I've yet to try. I've been to Germany a couple of times over the years. I like to remember those trips, because I had a great time. Berlin was sweet as was Heidelberg and Trier...but, as time goes on, and memories fade- it's hard to keep those memories fresh and alive through the twilight of time. Well, I gotta say Prost! West Seattle certainly helps those memories stay alive. Warm folks, warm atmosphere, great patio, and great bier help keep Deutschland close to the heart. The only downside is the location- and this is a TYPICAL West Seattlite complaint. I live near the junction which is not that far away, but there are so many options within walking distance that I usually forget (see I've got memory issues going on here or something) about Prost! That's no fault of theirs, the world doesn't revolve around me...ANYHOO...when I DO have the old noggin working right, and I DO remember Prost, I'm so glad. So take a trip down memory lane...well, if you've been to Germany...or even not...Okay, what the heck am I talking about now, this is just a saga now. How do you get to Germany? I'm rating the atmosphere more than the food or the beer -- I know next to nothing about German beer or beer in general for that matter. That being said, there is a great crowd of regulars -- they are friendly and welcoming. The bartenders are also great. When the weather is nice, this group of regulars often cooks for the bar, so if you're lucky you might get a delicious "off the menu" meal -- like a pulled pork and cole slaw slider, for example. As for "on the menu" stuff: I really like the pretzel sandwich and as a girl with roots in Bavaria, sometimes you just need a bratwurst and sauerkraut. They also make a mean hot toddy with Herbst whiskey. My only complaint is they never have the beer I like on tap. read more

Go for the beer, not the food. While the food is decent, the selection is small and doesn't rank that high on my list of good authentic German food. Although I have yet to find amazing German food in Seattle. While there I got a pretzel and the curry wurst. The pretzel was served warm and was pretty good. The curry wurst was supposed to be Bockwurst covered in curry ketchup but instead I got Weisswurst. Some savvy friends from Seattle brought me here when I was visiting them from out of town. Oh my! I loved it and will be back next time I am in town. This is a tiny little place, the kind that most tourists would miss out on. This is precisely the kind of place I am dying to find when I am visiting a city. I think everyone in here was a regular, and it seemed to be one of those little well kept secrets. The menu is pretty simple, nothing too fancy here. But what I ordered was really good, just a platter with some bread, cheese, meat, fruit, and mustard. Some really great mustard, that is! The beer is beyond fabulous. I drank a liter of Optimator (a dark malty beer, 7.5%). It was one of the best beers I have ever had but maybe a liter was too much. Next time I come to Seattle, I WILL be back for more beer. There is a lot of different beer on the menu, which must be tried. Not sure where the beer is from, the names seemed to suggest Germany. Doesn't matter, you cannot argue with good beer regardless of where it's from. In one of the best beer towns in the world, this place is a giant among men. The service was friendly if maybe a little slow, but I really didn't mind that at all. We were sitting on their back porch, enjoying good company, perfect beer, and perfect weather. This story is about how one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch: my buddy and I stopped by Prost on Sunday afternoon for a beer. We sat there almost 20 minutes before the bartender came over and took our order. She seemed annoyed at us for even being there. We then heard her yell (literally--no exaggeration) at some gals sitting up at the bar who simply were trying to order beers. She seemed to show only the regulars she knew by name with any respect. I am really disappointed, as many of my friends love this place and West Seattle needs fun, reliable watering holes. Being of Bavarian decent, and having lived in Munich for a while, I sometimes get a itch for my good old comfort food and beer. Well Prost! is in the neighborhood, so I thought I would check it out. I was very disapointed. The Good: Nice doors. Friendly staff The bad: Beer: I had Pauliner Oktoberfest, and have drank it at the Pauliner tent in Oktoberfest. The brewer would have been ashamed. It tasted skunked and stale. Food: The food is nothing more than some items they picked up from the Bavarian market in Pikes Plaza. In and of itself that is not a bad thing. However all they did was steam it to heat it up. The bread came from Safeway, I even saw em pulling it out of the bag. Then they charge 3 times what it cost them. Yuuuk! Music: Again Yuck, the music was mostly Rap, given that most the clients were 35+ this was a bad choice. Staff: Friendly, but REALLY SLOW. So ultimately this ended up feeling like a bad X-fratboy bar. Is this where they go when they grow up? read more

Good beer and great people, what more can you ask for! If you don't like football, don't go to any bar in America with a TV on game days because it is very likely they will be showing a game. I'm not sure how this place gets such good reviews. We came in last Saturday during the USA soccer game for some beers and a little bit of food. The bar was not that busy, but my husband and friend waited in line to get served for about 15 minutes. There was another waitress, but she was too busy running around the bar with screaming kids instead of taking care of the paying customers. I mean, instead of running around with the kids, she could have been making money serving our table....... It makes me feel better that this is not the first review to mention the screaming kids. It is so off-putting for a supposedly good bar to allow this. I honestly couldn't even believe it. I gave the waitress a dirty look once, and she didn't even seem to care that she was being obnoxious. Oh, that means she saw us without drinks too and didn't really seem to care. We ended up leaving after 20 minutes of being ignored. It was my husband's birthday, and he really wanted German food but he did not want to waste his time there any longer. Guess I'll never get to know if their food is any good. We decided to drive down the street to The Bridge instead, where we were treated much better, quicker, and made us regret even trying to go to Prost in the first place. Went here on a nice sunny Seattle day. Sat out front at one of the tables to get a few beers and food. Got the bitburger which is always great as well as a currywurst and cucumber salad. The currywurst was some sort of a cold Weiss wurst covered in curry ketchup. Fairly unappetizing and untraditional however I ate all of it. The cucumber salad however was absolutely phenomenal!!! It tasted just like German cucumber salad. Great bar inside, good service, clean taps and glasses. They also have large cans outside filled with cigarette butts next to the tables, next time I will most likely eat inside but I will definitely be back! read more

This place is great! I had been to Feierabend once before and really liked it, so I thought I'd give this place a try since they were started by the same guy. I took my dad with me because he lives about a mile away and we watched the Seahawks game at the bar with an unobstructed view of a big screen. Space is a bit tight, think your typical Belltown bar size but a little narrower. Spots at the bar are hard to come by, but there is a decent amount of other seating given the size of the place. On to the drinks: soooo many German biers to choose from! They had 5 Oktoberfests to choose from on tap when I went, so I was a happy camper. This is the kind of place that takes care in giving you the right glass for your beer when you order a half liter, but still has the liter mugs on deck for those who are a little more thirsty. As far as food goes, the pretzel is crazy good, and the sausages they were cooking up looked darn tasty as well. I think I will have to try the Brezel sandwich next time I come in... which will be soon! TL;DR All about the biers! Half liters, liters, and das boot. DARTS! Finally ventured in with my room mate a few weeks ago and have been back a couple of other times. Not much into German foods ... there wasn't all whole lot on the menu that was appealing, but what I did try was very good. Now as for the beer ..... well that is a different matter .... So many to choose from I didn't know where to start but fortunately I was in the mood for something along the lines of smooth and clean Hefevizen so I decided to try the Franziskaner (order a liter!!). When the mug (or in the case small glass barrel with a handle .. lol) arrived and I took a whiff I was sold .... it was FABULOUS!!! The menus description was spot on about the flavors including the hint of banana. Anyways, I haven't tried any others yet and not sure if I want to ... love the Franz. Anyways, if you want a cool, laid back place to have some great German beers this is the place. Just bring plenty of $$ if you plan to drink since the beers are a little pricey but not too bad .... had a liter for $9.75 and it took me about 45 minutes to drink it so not a bad deal. read more

I think it is stupid to say that it is not authentic to have a tv playing American sports, or that their wurst is not cooked just right... blah blah blah, you are in America! If you want Authentic go to Germany. That being said, their beer selection is great. Not a huge selection but what they have is 'authentic' heh and very tasty :) I am not sure what it is about this place but something about sitting at the bar is really relaxing. I have mixed feelings about this spot, so I'll start with the good. The beer selection is very German, and they have my favorite German beer: Franziskaner Weissbier. The atmosphere is great, and I love the glassware. I have tried to eat here a few times, and from what I understand, they have very typical German bar food. If you're into snacky sausages, this is your spot, but their menu lacks variety in my opinion. It can get very crowded here, and usually they are understaffed. This was such a wonderful find! We were visiting friends in Seattle and the plan was to go to Salty's on Alki but little did we know they only took reservations for the brunch buffet on Sundays. We drove around looking for an alternative lunch spot and stumbled onto Prost. The back patio was the perfect lunch spot on a sunny day. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was great. The beer selection looked decent but I didn't try any. I ordered the Brezel sandwich-- like a German salami and cheese sandwich on pretzel bread. It was amazing! I stopped by one afternoon while walking my dog and sat outside in the sun. The bartender working that day came out quickly to greet me and gave me a menu. I was pleased to see that they served Warsteiner Dunkel beer. I've traveled to Munich a lot and finding a good Dunkel in the states is difficult. Come here for an immaculate pour - I still love the taste of German / Czech style beers, and here you can get Lagers and Pilsners on tap that taste right. I have largely resisted the Seattle push towards ales, so this place is a favorite of mine, though I do enjoy the English style stuff as well. Food is pretty good, bar fare, and keeps in the spirit of the beer. Simple snacks like the Landjaeger with mustard are particularly good. read more
