I love this place as its not too far at all from the Clark/Lake stop on the blue line and offers the sort of food I'm after. Plenty of vegan options. My favorite smoothie is probably the Red Line, though I've never been disappointed with any. The free boost is great - I usually get the fat burner. Often I'll add some aloe too and hope it does my hair and skin good ;) Absolutely delicious food, but I say this being very into quinoa. I also love how they now have wine, but unfortunately I haven't been there at an hour where this would be appropriate yet. The view is not the best (pretty unimpressive for being so near the river and other fantastic spots in River North), but the decor is nice enough for you not to miss a view too much. Excellent and reasonably priced healthy food stop. My favorite smoothie is the Pier Nut Butter & Jelly With whole milk and whey protein with the fiber free booster. Favorite dish: I absolutely love the quinoa chili with chicken and yogurt. You don't have to be a vegetarian to find this dish delicious! I wish I could make it that good myself. I love juice bars and I LOVE juice bars that offer awesome meals to. The buffalo bowl is BOMB! I got it without bleu cheese because I'm not into it and it was soooo good. Highly recommend. I came here the other day to pick up lunch for my spouse and I. I ordered a gauc and roll and it had no avocado in it which complete defeats the point of it. I emailed Protein Bar and they apologize and reconciled the issue very quickly. My spouse and I ate there again and I loved my southwest salad. The service is really good and the staff is polite and courtesy. Though protein bar and I got off on the wrong foot, they made it up and made a customer out of me. read more

I love Protein Bar! What a great alternative to the usual overpriced and unhealthy lunch fare options. Everything I've ever had (breakfast and lunch) is DELICIOUS (be sure to try the AgaveQ wrap!) The line at lunchtime can be a bit intimidating but it moves VERY quickly. Prices are reasonable -- surprisingly cheaper than most places (given the quality of ingredients). read more

I love the concept of this place. I've always wondered why there weren't more places that catered to people who wanted something healthy. Even health-conscious people need to grab a quick bite sometimes. It's great for us protein-obsessed folks to see how many grams of protein what we're eating is going to have. The "bar-rito" I had was better than I thought it would be, quite frankly. It comes wrapped in a tasty, soft whole-wheat tortilla. It has chicken, quinoa, tomato sauce, spinach and parmesan cheese in it and miraculously wasn't an overly sweet or acidic, salty mess. It was well seasoned and a perfect quick meal to have before I hit the road. I'm only knocking one star off because I'm not a huge fan of their menu. I think they need new bar-rito ideas; not many of them appeal to me. Their shake station was also pretty gnarly. This one is convenient for me on days when I'm not over on the other side of the bridge. I'm a fan of their pier nut butter and jelly smoothie and I have them add some aloe in it or flax oil if I haven't had my flax oil serving for the day yet. That's all I really get at Protein Bar most of the time. I'm not a fan of the rest of their smoothies because they're not very tasty, borderline disgusting tasting. I try to steer clear of their salads most of the time because of the high sodium content. This location unlike the others offers wine.. nothing really notable as in it's not local or regional except for one, last time I checked which was last week. If they offered an Oregon wine I might give it a try. But I'm not so sure I'd come to Protein bar for a glass of wine.. the space is too bright and happy to drink. This is a really small space compared to the one on state and lake so I don't even want to know what it's like during busy weekday lunch time. I like when I ask to see what kind of aloe or flax oil they use, they'll show me. Employees here seem to have it a little more together than their counterparts in other locations. I visited Chicago to do the Susan G. Komen 60-mile walk for breast cancer last month and stopped in here on my last day in the city. I ordered the BGT smoothie and the Southwest Bar-rito. The smoothie was delicious, but the bar-ito was not so good. In fact, I was thoroughly disappointed with it. It didn't even seem like the egg was real. I'm usually not that picky, but I legit threw most of it away because it was so bad. Being a healthy person its always so hard to find healthy food. I am on high protein diet so this place is perfect. I love how their are lots LOTS of decision to make from drinks, salads, barritos. I don't come here any more. They changed their menu to exclude the beef chili that I loved: beef chili on a bed of quinoa topped with greek yogurt, cheddar, green peppers and onions. This was the only dish where I would eat quinoa and greek yogurt, but alas, it's not available any more. read more
