Wow, Major scandal. Everyone going to the 7pm show at Shakespeare got here early and ordered at their kiosk. Little did we know that there were on 2 people working and that it would take 30 minutes to get our food. I ordered 6:16 and got full order at 6:48. No warning, no apologies. We did not have time to eat, put food in car, went to show. Customers all furious, one man up yelling at the counter, others just begging for scraps of food to just eat something before the show, forfeiting their meals. Employee was doing his best but failed to set expectations and was calmly defensive when confronted. He did not call out earlier numbers for burgers and people had to go up to find out if they had food. Do not order here unless you have an hour to spare or more. Before heading into the Chicago Shakespeare Theater for a show, a group of us stopped into the Navy Pier food court and grabbed some lunch from I Dream of Falafel. All-in-all, this was a good experience! We arrived around 1pm, taking a table across the way before ordering. My ordering experience was done completely via self-service kiosk with very little staff interaction. I had a little trouble at first navigating the kiosk but eventually figured out how to add to my order. Once I placed my order and paid for it, I grabbed any drinks and sides I ordered at the pick-up area. Maybe five minutes after I ordered my food, the pita I ordered was ready. I ordered the Falafelicious Pita, off their Chef Inspired menu, with a side of pita chips. The pita had falafel with a spread of hummus, cucumber-tomato salad, red cabbage slaw, tabouli, and tahini. This was a great lunch! The pita was packed and the falafel was prepared nicely. The pita chips were the perfect complement, not greasy and had great crunch. I thought the prices were reasonable and I was perfectly full. I Dream of Falafel turned out to be a solid lunch spot on Navy Pier! IDOF made my day when I saw that they had a vegan option called '' A Vegans dream'' and let me tell you it was. it was Hummus falafel with tabuli, chickpeas, cabbage and more topped with tahini sauce and it was fire. Buyers remorse. First timer to Chicago but....Who the heck puts pace salsa on a gyro? These people do, saying it's "spicy" I told the owner it doesn't taste good and I wasn't satisfied and wanted something else and he blankly stared. I told him 4 times food was not to my liking before saying finally it tastes like s--- and then he refused to acknowledge me, " well I was gonna help you but now you swore so F off" , For real, dude looked at and told me to F off. Everyone naturally just picks it because of location, they make you order off of a screen and then ask for a tip. Here's your tip.. spicy shouldn't be the default option for gyro. Combine with a selection of grilled meats or vegan felafel. The salad had really great texture thanks to crispy pita strip topping and finely chopped shepherd's salad adding crunch to baby spinach, our choice of veggies and sauces. So many great options. We picked up the falafels for a snack and it came with this amazing concoction of a white garlic sauce. This sauce, by far, is the best white garlic sauce I've had in the entire US of A. It was brilliant. Visiting Navy Pier and in search of a quick bite to eat, my husband and I decided on IDOF. A good decision for sure. We both got the gyro and fries. The gyro was flavorful and filling with a meat to onion/tomato ratio was perfect and fresh and generously portioned tzatziki. Fries were cooked to order, i.e. hot & fresh. My husband, used to putting Tabasco sauce on his gyros, asked for a side of the hot sauce but it was bit too sweet for his liking. Other than that, we'd give the gyro an 8/10. The young man behind the counter was friendly, so friendly, in fact, that when I asked him if they had a bowl that I could put water in for my dog, he happily obliged. The place was very clean and fast. I was the only one in line and was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. I'm deducting one star because after we'd eaten my husband went back for another gyro (fatty). There was a lady working behind the counter and for whatever reason, she didn't warm the gyro bread and it ended up being cold and far less appetizing than the first one. More like 3.5? My toddler is a big falafel fan so after a morning at the Children's Museum we stopped here for a quick lunch. Falafel plate was good but I'll be honest, the baba ghanoush was terrible. Like... straight up gross. Hummus was good and the rest was ok. Husband liked his IDOFries. We also tried the fresh squeezed lemonade. I don't think it's worth $6 and I am pretty sure in addition to the fresh lemons, there was some powdered lemonade mix in there (because I saw her scoop some out into the cup lol) but it wasn't awful. I was honestly surprised at the quality of what I received for lunch today; though I may have been slightly influenced by my hanger. I haven't been to Navy Pier in a long time, though I recall a plethora of fried and fast foods stalls inhabiting the food court hall the last time I visited. It was pleasant to see some more "fresh" options. I ordered the Vegan Plate for $11.50, which is pretty ridiculous but the portion size made me a little less salty about the price. My server had to keep looking back at the menu board to create my order, I almost took it upon myself to list out the ingredient listed so she didn't have to turn around but I thought that might have been embarrassing/unwarranted. It consisted of five falafel pieces, cabbage and a chickpea salad, couscous, baba ghanoush, and a tahini dressing. I was asked if I wanted the dressing over the entire dish but I opted for it on the side. The cashier offered me a pita, leading me to believe it was complimentary, but the extra dollar added to my tab proved otherwise. I wish that she had told me that it costed extra upon offering it. Most of the plate was flavorful and the falafel was warm and crispy. The baba ghanoush was disappointing. Overall it was a quick, easy, and yummy enough lunch. It's overpriced but that comes with the touristy territory. I'm usually not a fan of fast casual establishments but I might check out this franchise again if I'm hungry and in a pinch. read more

Maybe I'm being harsh, but I'm trying to be fair and I'm having a hard time going to that third star. Perhaps it being Navy Pier I shouldn't expect to much, I don't know. Another case of a worker not enthusiastic about being there, and wanted to make sure I knew exactly how she felt. There was very little interaction in this transaction, as she really didn't ask me what I wanted to go on my falafel wrap. At the very end I requested some hot sauce to be put on it, she put some lighter colored sauce instead of the red stuff that I could see there were peppers in it. I asked, is that hot? She nodded yes, didn't bother to ask me how hot do I like it, or anything. It wasn't hot, barely mild, pleasant but mild. After I sat down and got into the wrap I was too lazy, and really not in the mood to get up and ask for some of the red stuff. The wrap itself was very good as far as the quality of the falafel and freshness of the other ingredients. It was also ample sized, so much so that I had to go back up and ask for a bag to take it home. At the point, I figured I'll ask for some of the red stuff. I get up to the counter and she pulls out one of those little paper bags, one of those that you see at SB that they put your treat in, well that would fall apart. At this point the manager/owner? catches this and offers up a plastic bag. Thank you. I then ask for that liquid gold hot sauce, and she again starts to fill up one of those plastic containers with the pinkish stuff. I speak up and say, no, can you give me some of that there (points to the red stuff) that isn't hot. So she grabs on from below and stuffs in into the bag. Much to my surprise when I get home and take it out there's barely enough in there for half a wrap, let alone a full one. Is it really that expensive, if so fine, tell me there's a charge for it, perhaps a quarter for extra. If at Navy Pier, maybe I'll try them again and have a different experience. Maybe she'll see this and throw a bunch of hot sauce on my wrap to punish me. That will be just fine, I can take it, bring it on. I won't even use my safe word. Note my check in erroneously ended up for their Jackson St. location. I don't want anyone there getting heat. (pardon the pun) read more

Just having an option other than the usual subs, nachos and pizza in a busy public place like this location is a plus. Then the menu is great with a few good meat and vegetarian options. I found the prices to be very reasonable. Of the several options there, chicken shawarma is king. Seating area is well lit in daytime, offering nice views of the pier.
