    Turning 50 isn't fun, but dinner at Provenance numbed the pain. Came here for my birthday. My wife was able to get a spot at the counter. Dinner was amazing and the staff was warm and knowledgeable. We ordered the wine pairing along with dinner. We were curious about the N/A and temperance pairing that was also offered and nearly tried one but we both landed on wine. The wine was amazing as the food. Hard to pick a favorite however the Trout was marinated and/or poached in bee pollen. I can't recall exactly what I was told but that was likely my favorite. Last the ambiance was perfect and highly recommended this place. Thanks to the staff for my amazing (but hard) birthday.

    Attention to detail always stands out at Michelin star restaurants. There was only one course that I didn't love. The first course was my absolute favorite, most notably the scallop. The combination of textures, flavors and presentations were top notch. I can't say it's my favorite meal I've ever had, but definitely in the top 10. Service was off the charts and I highly recommend sitting at the counter for a full blown experience.

    Had the privilege to be able to attend their special caviar dinner with Caviar XS and it did not disappoint. I love the Chefs Counter at this restaurant because you're so close to the kitchen action and watching the Chefs plate your meal with precision is pretty cool. This meal was 6 courses with tons of caviar! The servers are very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. This is the type of restaurant where go to the restaurant and come back to a fresh, folded napkin on a dish. Tonight's meal was seafood forward and decadent! Any opportunity I have to visit I will!

    This review is a whole year overdue! After all the hype, my husband and I were really excited to dine at Provenance. I was pregnant at the time, so I had specifically requested that all raw items be cooked, just to be safe. I watched my husband enjoy all the raw dishes I wished I could eat, while I had the same courses prepared in cooked form. Unfortunately, the cooked versions tasted rubbery and overcooked. At first, I didn't mind and assumed the chefs were just being extra cautious given my pregnancy. As the meal went on, though, it became clear that this wasn't the case--the later cooked courses had the same rubbery, overcooked texture. I definitely wasn't expecting food to be so poorly prepared, especially when spending over $200 per person. Service was also fairly mediocre. Our server came across as cold and impersonal, and it was a bit frustrating that each dish was introduced so quietly. I will say that the owner was genuinely kind and humble. He came out at the end of the evening to thank everyone, which was a nice touch. Sadly, though, our overall dining experience just wasn't that great. The restaurant certainly looks the part of a Michelin-level establishment, but in terms of substance, it fell short. Maybe the quality has improved since receiving their Michelin star, but personally, I'd rather dine at a Michelin restaurant known for consistency.

    Long story short, this restaurant fully deserves to be 1 of 3 Michelin rated restaurants in Philly. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in this city but it's hard to achieve this level of service, presentation, and quality of food. Highlights for us were the bluefin tuna which just melts in your mouth, the KFC caviar "chicken" (not a tofu fan but would've eaten several servings of this), and the venison! It's hard to pick a favorite. Everything was so flavorful and you can tell they put so much thought into each and every dish. My only "complaint" is where we sat - the Sunkoo Yuh room (not at the chefs counter). At first I didn't think this would be a huge deal but I didn't love the space. Everything echos in this space and we found it very hard to hear our server explaining dishes at times. It didn't help that the other couple in the room seemed to have a personal connection with the staff and they were extra chatty. The chef also comes around and greets everyone towards the end of the meal. He chatted with them for an extended period (again due to some personal connection) and as a result didn't have time to speak with us besides a quick hello. Not a huge deal and doesn't make or break the meal but it was a small bummer. Overall, I'd highly recommend to those who enjoy French fine dining and Korean flavors. It's expensive but worth it if you know what you're getting into!

    Provenance is the top culinary experience in Philadelphia. Having a front row seat at the chef's counter only made it that much more memorable to watch the masterful skill and precise, beautiful plating for each dish be on display. Every member of their team was welcoming and made sure each guest was having an amazing time. The atmosphere is dark but inviting, and very comfortable. The best part for me was the small plate which was usually a riff of the main dish in some way. So much flavor variety packed into a tiny bite. Seafood starting plate with oyster, mussel, prawn, uni, and scallop. All amazingly fresh and smooth, with flavor enhancements. The prawn with sprinkled yeast was a unique combination. The fried chicken caviar dish was very unique: think double fried Korean chicken flavor and some crunchy bits for texture, but no chicken on the plate. Bluefin tuna course with a foie gras and truffle ganache was highly decadent. Even the milk bread and kimchi butter course was unique and to perfection. I still think about these and other courses even a week later. The pastry chef / team here are also beyond amazing. Not only with desserts, but also any bread or small bites that utilize some kind of pastry. Ending the experience with multiple dessert plates was a wonderful finale. Pear sorbet that was rich in flavor yet still lightly textured. Or yuzu custard with meringue bark pieces. And finally the amazingly dense and intense Yule log bûche de noël which was heavenly for chocolate lovers. After your dinner is over, head chef and owner Nicholas Bazik checks in with each guest to thank them for coming to Provenance and chat a bit about the experience. I am excited to think about what future seasonal menus will have. Exemplary time here, thanks!

    How to even describe??? But truly as a culinary experience of a lifetime and a treasured memory we will always have. We were married in Philadelphia last November and decided an overnight reunion to Our City was needed for our 1 year anniversary. We decided to go all out last Saturday and spend the night with Provenance. When I say experience I mean the leading up, the evening in, and the after. A preview call arrived a week before our reservation to confirm and connect on restrictions. My lack in poultry preference was noted and conscientiously attended to when the Quail entree arrived. I however had a specialized fish dish, inclusive of a dashi sub for broth. This was exceptionally accommodating. After our meal, the General Manager followed up in an email for feedback. How personalized, cordial and polite. The Night In- It was Perfect. As an adjective and a noun. As guests we felt special, recognized, and genuinely cared for. That feeling to our stomachs reached even further. We sat at the kitchen counter for an 8:30pm reservation. Center stage. The kitchen was so clean, organized, quiet and focused. The wait staff was incredibly knowledgeable and so successful in presentation of each dish. Each picture in my posting does not do justice. Nor my words in description. Dishes were complex, a play on similarities and differences in each offering. There was a star and its accomplice. Each unique but playing hand in hand. It was a festival, a parade of flavors- in subtle meets punchy. Each protein and vegetable was given homage to tasting of itself in freshness and purity, and more over brought brighter by the liveliness of spice and depth of taste, made with precision. Our favorite plates included: Mussel with Almond Unexpected texture and bite- nutty crumbles and a pillow of shellfish Cauliflower 'Caesar'- inventive, playful. Your tastebuds went on a journey of surprise, but familiar Whipped Tofu and Pepitas- this was our ultimate favorite!!! The elements presented were surprisingly perfectly meshed, yet so different. A caviar and popcorn dream. Let me live on this cloud forever! This dish can be named as a best creation ever eaten, for us. Squid Cassoulet - unique components alone, together sang magic. Oily, crisp sweetbread and bitey, soft squid with the earthy, creamy beans Pear Soufflé- silky, toasty, sweet and light Lastly, given a candle and a slice of chocolate layer cake- so thoughtful. We finally ended this meal, next day in our reviewing the takeaway menu & reliving in conversation our favorite dishes. While snacking on the other gifted gesture of sugar cookies and pear jam. We had our stomachs and hearts full. Here it wasn't just a celebratory meal- It's passion on a plate. A chef who shows skill and thought. We are proud to say we have dined here. It is exquisite. We are hoping for big things as Michelin arrives to Philadelphia, as for Provenance undoubtedly we are seeing stars!!!

    Did I just eat at a three-star Philadelphia Michelin restaurant? Was looking for something for our eleventh wedding anniversary and heard good things about Provenance. Wasn't open on our actual anniversary, but why not a fantastic meal the night before? I knew we picked a winner when they reached out inquiring about dietary options and wanting to get our names right for a special card/menu printing. They used my wife's nickname, Sparkle, which is the only name I call her by. We were seated right away at a nice table, surrounding the kitchen. Eating alongside other guests, but every party kept to themselves. Attentive staff, always filling up the water glasses, and informing us about each dish. Twenty-six plates that night. A special small cake for our anniversary with a candle, that went out and they re-lit. The finest grade tuna I've ever had. Halibut quenelles that were so tasty. A brown butter hollandaise that is going to change the way I make eggs benedict.I cook almost every night and my wife asked why my hollondaise didn't taste that good? Because we're eating one of the top three meals we've ever eaten? Maybe that's why? I'm not a Michelin-star chef? So much attention to detail, with the open kitchen, you could see the care that went into plating. Creative plates and a meal that we'd never be able to order again. This tasting menu changes based on ingredients they can source. Our only complaint was that we noticed some people next to us didn't finish some courses. Their loss. For the adventurous eater, it might not get better than this...

    Greatly enjoyed our dinner at Provenance, with its impeccable service and delicious food. It is honestly hard to pick a favorite course, as each was new and interesting to the palate. Overall, I found Provenance to be elevated, but not fussy. Its space feels very Philly, situated in an old row home with its moody darkness in the middle and light streaming in the front, paned windows. Certainly a meal at Provenance is a splurge, price-wise, but the 25-course French-Korean menu and the luxury of watching the kitchen prepare each course with precise care is worth it.

    Ambitious, 25-bite Korean-French tasting menu from one of the first restaurants in Philly to be graced with a Michelin star. I happened upon Provenance by chance: a coworker lives down the street and sent me an article from PhillyMag about the restaurant opening back in May. A few months later, I decided to specifically come into town to eat here. I love fine dining and have eaten at a fair number of Michelin stars across the world. I kind of get most excited about restaurants that are just starting out though, figuring out who they want to be, what kind of experience they want to craft, how they are changing an already established dining scene. I visited in early October 2025 (so technically pre-star, which they got in November.) The inside is small but well constructed: a privacy screen hides diners from the street and gives a cozy, intimate feel to the brick space, diners sit around the kitchen and can watch chefs as they prepare dishes throughout the night. There is no screaming tension of "Yes Chef" a la The Bear: Chef Nich Bazik seems incredibly kind, laid back, and he spoke with every single guest and personally thanked them for coming before they left. The hospitality is still figuring out their stride, but was delighted overall by how much they "treated" us and made my friend and I feel special on our visit, but there were also some missteps. They let you peruse the drink menu and set you up with still or sparkling water or a barley water, which I opted for. It was malty, not sweet, and was a great palate cleanser in between bites! They also gave us an opening drink of a chilled barley tea syrup + bubbles that was really delightful. My friend and I both started with cocktails (martini for me, a cocktails called "My Beautiful Balloon" for her, which were $22-25 apiece.) These were fine but didn't blow me out of the water for the price point. I'd skip cocktails if we came again and just do wine or tea. We also ordered a bottle of wine to have with dinner which was on the lower price point of their list ($95). My one main gripe about service was they didn't refill our wine that frequently, and at the end of the night, didn't tell us we had half a bottle of wine left over (we probably just should have done by the glass). My friend asked and we were able to take the leftover wine home, but I've never been to a spot that wasn't attentive with the wine you has already purchased, let alone not indicate we had so much of it left at the end of the night. Provenance's food leans seafood-focused, making it great for pescatarians (like me, I only had 1-2 substitutions the whole night). I think their techniques are on another level compared to other Philly restaurants I've been to and I can tell that they are hungry to work towards being a two star eventually. They aren't quite there yet (few dishes I thought were just okay), but there were no bad bites and there were several dishes I was just obsessed with. The infusion of Korean and French flavors (inspired by Chef Nich's Korean wife) was just incredibly tasty to me, one of my favorites being the bread course: a Korean milk bread sourdough brushed with honey and sea salt and kimchi butter with sesame oil. Stunning. Other standouts included a smoked Steelhead trout with whipped creme fraiche, fig leaf oil, figs, and fennel; also the Miyeok Samgwang Rice main dish; and finally a dessert that included a sweet corn semi freddo, mini popcorn, and a miso chocolate fudge. Just unique, stunning flavors, well executed. Because my friend and I were reuniting after a long time, they took a cute Polaroid of us that they gave to us at the end. They packed delicious shortbread cookies and apple butter for us as little take home presents and had all the chefs sign my menu, upon request. This is a really enjoyable meal and an impressive newcomer to the Philly fine dining scene: to earn a star in just over a year of being open is a true feat, and they are well deserving of their laurels by food alone.

    beautiful fine dining restaurant with excellent service and exceptional attention to detail. provenance is a gorgeous korean-french restaurant, sleek and elevated. they only offer tasting menus, there are no a la carte options. the gastronomique tasting menu is $225 per person, but on wednesdays and thursdays they have a slightly more affordable $165 gourmand tasting menu available with fewer dishes. i was there for an early birthday celebration on a saturday, so the gastronomique tasting menu was the only option. the dinner was definitely a good experience, but i'm giving this restaurant 4 stars -- for the price point, i would have expected more bang for my buck. the courses were good, but the savory dishes were not phenomenal. ingredients were fresh, food was beautifully presented, but that is to be expected from a restaurant of this caliber and price point. the dessert courses however were phenomenal. i was very pleasantly surprised by the desserts, and wish i had more stomach room for them. the desserts were much more unique and included fun asian flavors. i wish i could go back just for the dessert. i still think about the riz au lait... so delicious. overall, provenance was a good dining experience, definitely appropriate for a special occasion. it's not on the top of my list to return, but still worth checking out!

    Within Society Hill rests an intimate restaurant among Philly's most exquisite dining sites. Provenance is a French and Korean-inspired restaurant with a four-course, pre fixe menu that ranges between 20 to 24 dishes. It serves as the perfect destination for a celebration, special occasion, and/or the foodie trying a new, excellent meal. The meal started with a raw seafood appetizer, where the Blue Prawn with Quince Vinegar stole the show. After the first course was a salad of marinated vegetables, before transitioning to my favorite dish of the evening: the Golden Osetra Caviar with Sweet Potato Royale and Silken Tofu. It was unlike any dish I've had before, where the texture and taste was akin to matcha. The second and third courses were cooked seafood and protein, including a delicious Sea Bass with bouillabaisse that had crispy skin melting in your mouth with each bite. The entree was lamb three-ways: tenderloin, loin, and belly with Samgwang Rice garnished with saffron. Dessert consisted of a four-dish finale, each composing of sweet bites with flavors from chestnut sponge to chocolate sorbet. This is definitely a meal that will be worth the price on the flavor profiles for each course, and you'll finish satisfied with the quantity of dishes. Service was world-class, with each staff member greeting us individually and sharing into detail about each dish we received. The overall experience was among the most customized I've seen among all restaurants I've visited, and we even received a complementary shortbread and menu after the experience. Provenance stands on the pinnacle of dining in Philadelphia, and I'd argue a Michelin star-worthy establishment (if it existed in the city). This is a $225 meal that comes with wine or non-alcoholic pairings as well, with sittings at 5:30 or 8:30 PM. It's a meal that will run the wallet, but is worth every dollar and cent.

    Provenance was such an incredible way to celebrate our anniversary! Food: Every bite is beautiful, delicious, and creative. The food is French fine dining with a seafood focused menu with a hint of Korean influence inspired by the Chef's wife's Korean background. The menu is 25 courses of mostly small bites (I was full by the end but not overly so). Picture fresh fish with complex sauces and textures, several raw fish courses, then some cooked, a fun baguette, ribeye, pasta and cheese like you've never had before. Fancy ingredients like uni, foie gras, caviar, and broths poured over dishes in front of you. Then 4 courses of desserts made of vegetables that are somehow the perfect amount of sweetness (carrot gelato, celery root custard, bay leaf chocolate, kabocha squash soufflé). Service: The service is top notch: changing utensils after every course, introducing every dish, refolding your napkin when you go to the bathroom, wiping the table after you accidentally spill some fig leaf jelly. The attention to detail is incredible, truly immaculate vibes all around. Layout: The main room seats 11 around the kitchen and there are some rooms in the back that seat 3-8 and 4-6. I loved watching the chefs from the kitchen view. Much less yelling than the Bear but really fun to watch. Cost and booze: Definitely a special occasion place for food and experience lovers. At $225 per person, which doesn't include tax or automatic gratuity, you're at almost $300 per person before drinks. There are several options for drink pairings including cocktails, non alcoholic drinks, beer, and wine by the glass or bottle, (including skin contact wines!) They can also make most classic cocktails. Highly highly recommend! Philly isn't Michelin rated but if it were this place would have several stars.

They easily rank in the top five mussel dishes I've ever had, and I've done my research! Pro tip: Don't make the rookie mistake of eating all the bread first. Save some for the end so you can soak up every last drop of that incredible curry broth at the bottom of the bowl. Trust me, you'll thank me later. The service is always excellent. John usually takes care of us in the back, and he consistently makes the experience even better with great recommendations and friendly service. In side is cozy and friendly! If you live in Philly and haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Great beer, amazing food, and outstanding service--this place checks every box. The bartender informed us that we could not sit at the table unless we were ordering food. At this point we ended our pub crawl and left defeated scratching our heads. This was far from a classy place without a line out the door during the week which made it even more alarming. Interesting experience as our last taste of Philly.

Razor Clams, Leeks, Peas (3/5) - the dish itself is very refreshing and light, the clams seemed hidden Pickled Shrimp, Aioli, Saltines (5/5) - loved the aioli, the pickled shrimp was unique and the juice it was sitting in had a great punch Softshell Crab, Sauce Paloise (4/5) - the batter was the perfect amount and the hollandaise sauce paired well, the greens on top provided a spat of freshness Extra Sour Sourdough, Cultured Butter, Pickles (2/5) - plenty of sourdough, not sure what makes it "extra", cultured butter wasn't anything special, although I love pickles, these could have very well been store bought Lamb Shoulder, Lentils, Turnips, Anchovy (1/5) - the lamb itself was tender and fell apart, but everything on the plate was bitter, the anchovies had no business being paired with lamb, the dish needed some acidity either from a citrus or a fresh vegetable Strawberry Semifreddo, Lemon Curd Pavlova (5/5) - WOW, one of the best desserts I have had in a higher end restaurant in Philly, the crisp meringue added great texture to the dish The menu items rotate so I went in wanting to order certain things but did not find them offered - which is OK!     i have been to her place 2x now (3 if you include his place thai supper club) and absolutely…read moredeserving of a michelin star. my favorite thing about her place is that the menu rotates every 3 weeks; it's a different experience every visit. they use local suppliers and the ingredients are fresh and season dependent. if you are a picky eater, this is not the restaurant for you. the food here is creative and unique, each menu is so different but delicious nonetheless. i will say: definitely check the menu beforehand -- if there's something you definitely will not like, try for a different menu rotation. also, her place was much better than the his place pop-up. (his place was not worth the $$$, her place was worth the $$). my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed our last experience here, we already have a reservation booked in may and are excited to see the menu for that rotation. the pasta here is always phenomenal. during the dinner, they typically offer two additional options for entrees -- a pasta and a entree. my boyfriend and i opted in for both this last visit, and they were both phenomenal. i really enjoyed the soft shell crab addition, an indication that summer is here. we were absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal... perhaps we didn't need both add-ons. i absolutely adore how small & intimate this experience is. chef amanda talks about each dish and her inspiration between courses, and she even personally brings food out for the tables. the decor is beautifully thought out with stunning plates, and celebrations will earn you a card, party hats, or a happy birthday song. absolutely perfect for a small celebration or date night! can't wait to come back in may :)

The space is so cute and intimate, which makes sense why it's so hard to get a reservation, it probably holds about 35ish people. Their team is ON IT. Explaining dishes, checking in, offering wine pairings. While you're paying for the delicious food, it's really the experience as well. The food was so incredible and they do such a great job of explaining each dish and the thought process behind it. Everything was so great and even the things my table were a bit intimidated by (raw fish), was fantastic and great to give it a shot! The sourdough cookie handed out with the check literally changed my life. If you have an opportunity to snag a reservation at Her Place, DO IT!

Mini Beef Wellington- prosciutto, mushroom, smoked mustard; 2. Onion Crêpes- gruyère, chives, red wine jus; 3. Wagyu Shortrib Bourginon- red wine, pearl onion, carrot; 4. The Cowboy Ribeye (medium); 5. Mac & Cheese; and 6. Apple Pie- salted caramel ice cream. The Oion crepe was good (tasted like French onion soup). The short rib was good, but very fatty, and Apple pie was good (could have used more cream honestly) The drinks were also good! As for the rest, I LOVE beef Wellington, have it at Gordon Ramsay's in AC a lot. I was so excited they had a beef Wellington appetizer! I can't tell you what tasted so bad in it, but it tasted bad! I saw someone rave about the mac n cheese, however mine had no seasoning or flavor. It tasted like bland melted cheese over plain pasta. The steak was ok, like any other steak. I did ask for medium and it was medium rare (could see the deep red even in the dim light). I didn't bother sending it back since I knew I'd reheat it the next day and bring it to medium. Unfortunately at those prices I would not go back. If the food lived up to the hype, I'd pay those prices in a heartbeat.
