I was looking to have a quick bite in Center City and happened to walk by Tria. I took a quick look on Yelp and immediately went in - I didn't even look to see what type of food they serve. I was a little surprised it had boards with cheese-charcuterie and meats. I saw some nice appetizers and chose a sandwich as well. I started with the Artichoke Hummus with Feta and Grilled Focaccia - it was excellent! Large chunks of artichoke with the creamy hummus and little balls of feta were such a great combination. However, it was the Grilled Focaccia that brought the spread to its peak. Light and slightly crunchy it was so delicious with the hummus! Next up, the Pistachio Herbed Ricotta with Lavender Honey Bruschetta. I took my first bite started to chew and had to close my eyes as I was transported to a 'heavenly' taste. The pistachio with the creamy ricotta was amazing, and with the lavender honey, it was over the top. I told the server it could be a dessert as well! After two great appetizers, I was really looking forward to my 'main dish' - the Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Cabot Cheddar, fresh tomato and arugula, and a truffle herbed aioli (I opted out of the bacon). I took a bite and of this thick smoked chicken breast with a fabulous aioli dressing and was delighted it was every bit as delicious as the appetizers! Cute spot for drinks and cheese (just as described lol). We wandered in around 5:30 on a Tuesday with beautiful weather and were able to be seated, but they were pretty full and needed the table back in about an hour. Our party ordered 4 spritzes and 1 N/A drink, which they messed up and brought all alcoholic drinks, but quickly fixed it when we noticed. The bartender was very apologetic (though i think our server gave him the wrong order so it wasn't his fault). We also got a cheeseboard to share, which was bigger than the server made it sound and not bad for a little snack between the 5 of us. I wish I could comment on the wine or the food or anything else except for the service but unfortunately, service was so slow we didn't get to try anything. We just wanted to stop in for a quick glass of wine before heading to dinner. The host told us we could sit in the bar area wherever we saw free seats. Luckily, two bar stools were available... except they weren't because another customer was saving them, apparently. So we tried to sit at the high top but the host came over and said those were reserved. Okay... so we sat at the small counter area by the window. Service was friendly enough but when my boyfriend asked for a glass of wine and I wanted a quick taste of another wine, we waited almost 30 minutes for both. My boyfriend is usually incredibly patient so when he started getting restless waiting, I knew it was taking too long. We tried making eye contact and flagging someone down but couldn't get a hold of anyone. We ended up going up to the host and letting them know we'd be leaving. Apparently the order was just sitting at the bar the whole time waiting for the server to bring it over. It looks like the reviews are overwhelmingly positive so maybe we just caught them on a bad day? We tried a half dozen of their oysters, the braised duck salad with spinach, strawberries, pistachios, grana Padano topped with a citrus, mint vinaigrette, and their fresh mozzarella sandwich with prosciutto, roasted tomato, basil pesto, and garlic vinaigrette. We also ordered the Tria old-fashioned and Saint Germain's Spritz. Our server Kyle was awesome. They had an interesting and reasonably priced wine list as well. Cutest little wine bar with amazing food. I got an 8pm reservation, not sure if it was needed on a Sunday night. The eggplant dip was out of this world. Next the short rib sandwich was really good with a horseradish sauce on the side. We also had the braised duck salad which tasted amazing. Kitchen closes at 830pm, so get your orders in ASAP. Friendly staff, checked on us & refilled water adequately. We ended up not drinking any alcohol this night, so can't say anything about the wine. Had a delightful happy hour catch up with 2 friends on a Tuesday. The candlelit high top table by the window was the perfect place for chatting & celebrating, and enjoying some absolutely wonderful wine and cheese. We ordered a cheese board (complete with olives, cheese, bread, cheese stuffed figs, and dries cherries soaked in something delicious). The service is always good, although they're usually packed so the servers are busy. A waitress once found out the name of a white wine I had and loved but was no longer on the menu. She went out of her way to figure it out for me based on the flavor profile alone. It was so impressive and so appreciated! My favorite things on the menu are the Roasted Duck Salad, Fig and Gorgonzola Salad, Artichoke and Asparagus Panzanella Salad, Charcuterie Board (the pepper oil is sooo amazing), the Truffled Mushroom Bruschetta, and the Chips with Herb Aioli. The cheese boards are always fun as well. Some things they used to have and should bring back include the veggie board and the crab stuffed pepper. They've never done me wrong in terms of the freshness of the food and delicious flavors. With delivery, they always pack everything so carefully and it comes to me perfectly in tact. If you dine in, know it's a rather tight space that gets packed so it can be loud. However it's quaint and lovely for a nice lunch or dinner. read more

Everything looked so good at Tria Cafe that I was tempted to order the entire menu! I came here for lunch and had to try many of their small plates. The Ricotta honey bruschetta was insanely good! It doesn't look like much, there's so much lavender flavor packed in the ricotta. It's a nice balance of sweet, herbal, and earthy flavors all from the lavender, honey, and pistachios. I will order this again. The Gorgonzola figs were very good as well! The sweetness of the figs paired well with the Gorgonzola inside it along with the prosciutto. The Burrata toast was mild in flavor but looked the prettiest to eat! It was covered in pear, pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. It wasn't as good as the ricotta and honey bruschetta. I also ordered the seasonal soup which was a simple vegetable soup. The bread at Tria tasted like it was baked that day. I had a pleasant time at Tria! I was able to catch up with a friend. Best dining experience I had while in Philly! Our server was amazing...she was so friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. I was even more impressed by this, as they automatically add a 20% service charge to the bill, so she went above and beyond even knowing her tip was built in. As wine novices, she allowed my friend and me each to sample a couple of wines before making our decision. The food was great too! I got the artichoke appetizer and my friend got the burrata and for entrees we had the truffled mushroom panini and roasted duck salad, respectively. All was well-prepared. Tria is my favorite spot in Philadelphia and I make it a point to try and go at least once every single time I'm in town. I found this gem a couple years ago while staying at the Sofitel hotel which is at the other end of the block from Tria. I must have gone three times the week I was there because me and my colleague couldn't get enough. This last time I was visiting Philly with my husband and I took him on a date night to Tria. He was as impressed as I was of course. There is a great selection of wines and the staff is always happy to help you choose one that suits your taste buds. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are generous for sharing. My absolute favorite thing on their menu was the white bean dip served with paprika toast. It is by far one of the best dishes and so incredibly flavorful. Their crostini's are also delicious. There is one with ricotta, lavender and honey that you cannot pass up. What I found interesting about Tria is that they are putting out these great dishes without a full kitchen. So there are many salads and sandwiches to choose from as well as their light bites for sharing. There are two Tria locations although I have only been to the Tria Cafe Rittenhouse. I'm sure the other is great as well. The Rittenhouse location is perfect if you work downtown and want a place to go for happy hour or if you are planning on seeing a show and want a nice spot to grab some wine and light bites beforehand. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to get back myself! read more
