Located downtown on 2nd, they have a large room upstairs that you can reserve for parties like ours. Passed appetizers and a serve yourself buffet were pretty reasonable, our own bar & server, and they didn't mind the noise. Good for a large party. Shrimp cocktail and the sliced skirt steaks and fries were favorites of folks, and the passed salmon appetizers were more favored than the goat cheese pastry snacks. They did run out of utensils, though, in the main course and at dessert. So had to improvise... crab cakes were good finger food, the asparagus not so much.

My fiancé and I went here to try their happy hour menu, which had great prices and options to choose from! It's 4-6 Monday through Friday. I didn't get photos of the food due to eating it so fast, but we split the short rib sliders which comes with 2 ($7) and the fries ($6) and really enjoyed both, especially the sliders!! I will absolutely be back for those. We ended up also splitting an entree and got the salmon which was really good, however as a heads up it doesn't come with any sides. I really loveddd the ambiance here - it felt so cozy and upscale at the same time. My only qualm is that our server was a bit pushy making my fiancé and I feel like we needed to keep ordering. Overall, it was a great experience and we will be back!

Wanted to sit at the patio and have a proper dinner but it was closed for the evening. So instead we decided to have a couple drinks at the bar. The bartenders and cocktails were great. "The Wilson" was particularly delicious - try it if it is on the menu!

Had a great solo dinner here at the bar! This place is COZY. Beautiful. Warm. Other-worldly. Nearly Parisian but you're in Olde City Philadelphia. The Left Bank on 2 Street. French music on the speakers but it isn't annoying. Classy. I loved reading my book here. I had a very delicious Bordeaux that was perfect. Oysters were yummy but maybe not as fresh as some other places. Burger with foie gras was one of my favorite things ever. Foie gras on a burger reminded me of like putting brie or camembert on a burger, really really cool! A very exciting thing to eat. Raspberry tart thing with burnt marshmallow was so awesome for dessert. I felt free here. A great meal on a cozy February night!

Surprised that it wasn't crowded on a beautiful summer weekend night. Vintage decor, cute bar area, if you get a seat next to the door it's basically outdoor seating. Apps were just okay, but main dishes were pretty good. The chicken liver mousse could be a bit richer; the escargot was disappointing- the texture was a bit mushy and the sauce was oily and bland; the steak tartare was refreshing, but could have more flavor. The roasted chicken was all our favorite- surprisingly juicy and crispy skin, with rich flavorful juz, and paired with thick hash, just perfect! The trout was also great- cooked to perfect temperature with crispy skin, delightful sauce, paired with green beans and toasted almonds. The crab cakes were not so much, thin and flat, not the lump crab you would want, and browned a bit much to make it even drier. The napoleon dessert was filled with goat cheese (which is a novel idea), a bit too heavy goat cheese flavor, but glad it was not overly sweet. The crème brûlée had a thick crust, flavor was nice.

We sat at the bar and spent an hour or so. Lovely vibes, drinks and oysters. What more could you want?

More like a 3.5 because it seemed like half of what I tried was either *really * good or a bit of a miss. Starting with the really good, 2 of the types of oysters were excellent while the other type wasn't very memorable (can't remember the names). The cheese board was very good with some creative and tasty items included. I ordered the Boucherie Burger and while I've enjoyed foie gras on other occasions, this burger wasn't my favorite and I'd blame it on the foie gras. The escargot was also a little underwhelming. There are definitely some gems on the menu and I would definitely go back to figure out what all they are!

While touring Philly, my friend and I stopped in and decided to split a few items from the menu. Everything was absolutely delicious but the star of the show was the goat cheese and tomato tart! Absolutely delicious. My mouth is watering in remembrance. This is a great spot off the beaten path for a date or a quick dinner with friends. The cocktail and wine lists were extensive but I did not indulge.

I loved having dinner here. There is so much charm and character in this bar - it's like stepping back in time. Different relics and photos that bring you through the history of Old City...it's a perfect place setting for a rich and hearty meal. Dim lighting, dark wood booths, a bar that runs half the restaurant, it's the whole nine. Not to mention, they have a gorgeous green-house setting upstairs with additional seating. Really enjoyed our server - he was helpful with recommendations and portioning. Striked good conversation with us, and was timely throughout the dinner. One thing that they seem to have a pretty well-renowned reputation for is their burger. The style and toppings of the burger changes every so often, but the execution is consistent. Right now, it is topped with foie gras, brie, and an onion confiture. I personally love burgers like this, where the foie gras adds that buttery/rich finish and the brie/onion add a sharp bite along with it. It wasn't a messy burger either, which is always appreciated. We also had their parisian gnocchi, which was probably one of the best gnocchi dishes we've had in awhile. The sage brown butter and pistachios complimented each other, but nothing in the mix was overpowering in flavor. Nutty and creamy bites, and the gnocchi was finished a bit more firm and crunchy. Very, very good! They offer a fantastic variety of oysters, and you have to try either their charcuterie board or cheese plate. While we enjoyed our meals, one downside to the menu was the lack of vegetarian entrees or apps. Beyond the pasta and a couple of small plates (onion soup or tomato & goat cheese tart) there really wasn't anything else to choose from. Their drink menu was extensive, and I recognize this is a very biased opinion only having tried one drink, but their dirty martini was just "ok." All that said, this spot is certainly a staple in the city and represents what a true weekend meal/experience should look like in Old City. Would definitely go back.

If you see this you are here.

Classic restaurant with the old Philly vibe. We came here for brunch and were pleasantly surprised with good food and great service. We shared a Crème Brûlée French Toast for the table, very good not too sweet. My wife got the Warm Brie & fruit, a great light meal. And I got the French Benedict, which was fabulous! The servers were on point and very helpful.

Absolutely delightful! All of the foods we ordered tasted amazing. Wished we can order more, more, and more but it was really late at night and we have to watch our figures. Anyways. I have been curious to try the food and finally was able to get my friends together to try. I really have no complaints. We tried all the oyster varieties. We ordered every protein from snails, scallops, duck, fish, to beef. Okay, I lied. The only thing i could care less is the one with bone marrow - it just wasn't hitting it. Too blend. Will I come back? Oh yeah. 9/10.

Had an early Valentine's Day dinner with the wife the day before Valentine's Day. Brasserie Memere…read moreis an upscale French restaurant located in the Target plaza of Closter. The lighting is dim, the ambiance is intimate, and it looks romantic. I had made reservations so we were seated immediately. It's funny to note that the place settings were placed next to each other instead of across from each other at a four person table. We usually prefer to face each other, but when it's Valentine's day why not be cute? We ordered a few drinks during our dinner, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Memere 75, Avion en papier. My favorite was definitely the Avion en papier which had a slightly sweet, slightly bitter, citrusy taste. They had a pre fixe menu for Valentine's Day which unfortunately did not have the steak tartare i was interested in trying. But for $88, you get 3 courses: an appetizer, entree, and dessert. For our appetizers, we got the TARTARE DE THON (tuna tartare) and COCKTAIL DE CREVETTES GEANTES (shirmp cocktail). Between the two, i preferred the tuna tartare. The shrimp cocktail was good, but the only thing really special about it was the massive size of the shrimp and the freshly grated horseradish in the cocktail sauce. For our entrees, we got the CASSOULET DE CANARD and FILET MIGNON. The extremely tender duck leg confit was served with pancetta, white beans, toulouse sausage, and foie gras breadcrumb. It was rich, savory, fatty, and filling. All great words to describe food. The duck leg confit reminded me a little bit of a smoked turkey leg with the red coloring and shreddable texture. The filet mignon was served with pomme purée, wild mushrooms, and a bordelaise sauce. The filet was cooked medium rare as requested, but a bit under salted. The pomme purée aka mashed potatoes tasted like it was 50% butter so it was obviously delicious. Dessert was good, but my least favorite part of the meal. We got the TAHITIAN VANILLA CRÈME BRÛLÉE and the VALRHONA CHOCOLAT POT AU CRÈME. Both were very sweet. The brûlée crust did not shatter well, but it otherwise had a nice creamy texture. The chocolate pot was covered in flaky feuilletine which gave a nice contrast to the creamy chocolate, but my wife found the brandied cherries overpowering. The cherries made me think of German chocolate cake. Service was excellent. Staff was quick to refill water and checked on us constantly. Pace of the meal was relaxed and I'd even say they were slow to bring us the check since we had been dining for over 2 hours. My wife wants me to bring her back for their bottomless brunch on a Sunday so I will eventually be back.

Lovely hostess, great round bar seating with huge windows for people watching, and a genuinely charming and attentive bartender (Mike). We started with oysters from Newfoundland and cheese off the happy hour menu -- both great. My mom loved her lavender French 75 (a drink special), and my white wine was perfect (the name escapes me at the moment). The garlic soup deserves awards. I first had it two summers ago and still think about it -- I made my mom try it and she immediately understood my rave reviews. For entrées, her burger was cooked perfectly medium-rare, and my fish & chips absolutely hit the spot. Both came with generous portions of house-made fries and an unexpectedly addictive house honey-mustard. We had enough fries for leftovers, and I even asked for extra mustard to take home. Food, service, atmosphere, lighting, noise level -- all dialed in. A 10/10 experience!

Since it was New Year's eve, there were few patrons or maybe this is the usual scene? Don't know. But there are some comfy couches by the front in which a young couple with a baby was nursing. Another couple was just finishing up dinner and started to head out. We were the only two diners for about 20 minutes before another couple came in for dinner. There were also about two or three people at the bar. So basically a very quiet place. No one at the hostess stand, only a woman at the bar. She eventually sat us and took our order. Things were slow but not so slow that I would complain. I would surmise that most of the staff was off that evening. Food was also slow in coming so there might have been a small crew in the kitchen as well. We ordered the mezze appetizer. Nothing to rave about. It was just a plate with vegetables and hummus. We both got the wagyu burger and fries. The whole meal was quite decent. The meat was cooked to the correct temperature and the fries were crispy. It was quite filling for me. Maybe it was NYE but everything was quiet and nice.

Still, I'm landing 50/50 on this place. Here's why. For starters other than already knowing it was there and getting a recommendation from someone else, there is no signage. The words Farm A Sea do not appear anywhere that I could see. Not outside. Not even inside. Also the signs outside that have arrows that point to "Restaurant" point towards each other. I drove around the building twice and had to assume that there was an entrance inside the lobby of the hotel somewhere. Also its not kid friendly. Not in that there is any kind of element that is detrimental to kids. They just don't have a specific kids menu. I'm not even sure they have booster seats. We just got lucky that mac & cheese was a dinner special. We ordered our meals and the Pork Belly as an app. After waiting entirely too long for an app to come out our dinners arrived. The waitress forgot to put in the order for the app. Which I asked her to bring anyway. I regretted that later. The mac & cheese was actually really really good. It had some kind of meat, maybe hamburger in it so it was kind of like a helper type deal. The 4 year old liked it, the 9 year old and I finished it off. My oldest had the wings from the app menu. Nice chili sauce. The drums were really good. However the actual wings were really fatty. Fatty to the point of just mush. Or they were undercooked. Not sure which. For my main I had the sausage flat bread. Which was cold. Not room temp. Cold. Especially compared to the mac and the wings. It was also under seasoned. I was willing to forgive all of this had the late app pork belly been good. That was the worst. I have had pork belly many places. I understand its 50% fat, 50% meat. But it should be even with meat on one side and fat on the other. Not 50% meat pieces and 50% fat pieces. Im not even sure they used the right cut of meat. It wasn't even salty or pull apart like the meat should be. If you want to know what Pork Belly should be like... go to 8th & Union in Wilmington and get the fried rice. Awesome. So with that I stand 50/50. This place has no foot traffic and no signage. The location already failed as a hotel once before the renovation. So If they cant work on being consistent I don't see it lasting. I may or may not go back.

But it's legit around the corner from the Northwell Hospital on 7th Avenue in the Village. Cute setup and interior with little booths and fake lavender popping up behind you, lovely floral twined around a pillar. It's giving cozy cute french cafe. They do have an affordable-ish drink menu for brunch that I was tempted to indulge in but I restrained myself. It's a 2-for-1 on $16 cocktails. So $8 a pop I guess. But they are more unique sounding cocktails like the Mimosa Royale, Cafe Framboise, and Brunch Au Paradis, and Lavender Margaritas all sounded very tempting. For my entree I was torn between the Filet Mignon sandwich, truffle mac and cheese, and the Croque Monsieur or Madame. Ultimately went with the Croque Monsieur, which I kind of wish in hindsight I ordered something else. It was decent. There was nothing overtly wrong with it. It just wasn't kicking. I've had better Croque Monsieurs/Madames. Maybe it was the cheese or bechamel. Maybe it was the white ham or bread that just didn't taste fresh as I got closer to the edges. Who knows. The fries were also seriously soggy. My friend got the same thing but the Madame version and asked for an overcooked egg since she does not eat or enjoy runny eggs. They also couldn't substitute bacon for ham on the sandwich but convinced her that she could still buy a side of bacon. The egg with no surprises arrived completely runny and they had to recook it and I was surprised that the side of bacon came to the table in bite sized bacon bits instead of you know. . . . like strips of bacon. Small things. But I wasn't wowed by the restaurant. I'd return to try something else at brunch or maybe try their happy hour some day. But another thing that kind of veered me away was their anti cash attitude. They accept basically only card but will accept cash if it's in the exact amount. That's the tricky word around way of saying we generally don't take cash with making it still legal.
