    Smoked Salmon
    Jason S.

I had the Smoked Salmon and it turned out to be really tasty. The corn pancakes instead of an English Muffin was a great alternative to the traditional Eggs Benedict recipe and the Hollandaise sauce was well made. The service was excellent with being friendly and quick. The ambiance is that of a relaxing place and good way to spend the morning before starting your day.

Food was alright. Inordered crab and lobster omelet. You could not taste any of those. Service was good. Ambiance was great

We came here for dinner on a weekend, and it's a great choice for a date night or special occasion, especially with the beautiful ocean views and elegant ambiance. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and the food quality was consistently high. We tried a variety of dishes and were impressed overall, with one small service miss worth noting. What we tried * Seared beef tenderloin * Duck Duo * Crab and shrimp cakes * Escargot * West Coast-style bouillabaisse * Wild mushroom ravioli with prawns * Fondant au chocolat * Crème caramel Pros * Excellent service, even during a busy weekend dinner * High-quality, well-executed dishes across the menu * Beautiful, romantic ambiance with ocean views * Desserts were a standout and a perfect way to end the meal Cons The escargot is extremely rich and buttery but does not come with bread. Bread must be ordered separately, which isn't mentioned upfront. You only find out once the escargot arrives, then have to wait again for bread, which takes away from the experience since the dish really needs it. Overall, a lovely spot with strong food and ambiance. A small service detail to flag, but still an excellent option for a date night or special dinner.

It is a huge restaurant offering both patio heated and indoor seating. Located right by the water, it offers a very relaxing ambiance. Decent quality except the scallops I had is a bit sandy. The pasta is on the salty side especially the salmon. They offer a dessert for the birthday person which is very generous these days. Attentive service. Overall an enjoyable experience.

My wife and I were craving for egg Benedict near Yaletown and we found this French Bar and Grill restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the lady who dressed in red (the owner?) and got the table without waiting for long. Servers were efficient and we could order foods quickly. I ordered the smoked salmon bennies. It was nicely cooked with potatoes cooked with butter. Simple but delicious. That's what I wanted. It was an enjoyable breakfast, especially in a rare sunny morning in Raincouver. Foods were good. Mood was good.

The food here is amazing! The atmosphere and professional service by the staff made my dinner tonight absolutely wonderful. Thank you Jean-Francis for preparing our menu tonight and Luka (or Lucas) for serving us. I came here to celebrate a birthday for a friend and tonight was just absolutely fabulous. Jean-Francis made a custom 7 course meal for our group of 18 and we had a marvelous night full of great food, wonderful drinks and great service. This is one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. Provence Marinaside, you have earned my 5 stars! Pro tip: Ask for bread and dip it with every dish that has sauce. Every dish can be savored even more with extra bread. Especially if your dish has extra sauce or is accompanied with custom butter.

I picked the perfect day to walk along the water side in Vancouver and stop for lunch here. What an idyllic atmosphere on the patio with the Sun shining and a perfect lunch with a glass of red wine. Shrimp and scallop spaghettini with British Columbia wine

Seems like a touristy place. But food and service quite good. Wine is ridiculously expensive!

The ambiance and service was great, the food was mostly mediocre for the price. Still enjoyed it though

The happy chef in his element.

On our recent visit to your extraordinary city, we had the honor and privilege, of dining at Provence Marinaside. I perused the background of the chef, Jean Francis Quaglia, and his restaurant, a pillar of award-winning Southern French Mediterranean cuisine since 2002. A native of Marseille, Quaglia met his future wife, Canadian chef Alessandra Mossa, in Nice. His own background ("a culinary giant and mentor to young chefs" said the French ambassador to Canada), was as deep or more so, their match far beyond au natural. We crave seafood. Two orders of oysters in a pear vinegar mignonette were followed by crispy calamari with lemon aioli and a baguette with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. My wife, son and I then shared a seafood linquini with a fine rose. Too good, we had to continue. Our main dish was Plateau de Fruits de Mer. Presentation alone prompted joy and laughter: "Wait, first we photograph it, then make a painting, then we can eat." I've never had a more delicious plate of fresh seafood. After dinner, we met the owner/chef and several loyal staffers. When artists are passionate, they work harder. A pal of mine is a veteran jazz-program director whose passion came from a father who played sax with Charlie Parker. Quaglia's pioneering mother, chef Suzanne Quaglia, was among the first female chefs of notoriety in France. This is a man whose work is his passion, and it was obvious when I met him. That smile is real. Evidently, time flies when you're having fun. "It feels like only yesterday when we opened," Quaglia said. "The location always reminds me of my home in Marseille which is one of the reasons I chose it." We work hard and appreciate a superior dining experience, especially on vacation with love ones in a wonderful, sophisticated, multi-cultural city like Vancouver. And when the check comes, I rarely blink. That said, far too many restaurants leave us feeling overcharged and underwhelmed, and I never, ever deal with people who can't be kind, yet another reason why we will return to Provence Marinaside, like so many faithful patrons. Super-fresh, sensational dishes at fair prices, served with loving care. ~ Pepper Pro

Snooty service made for a distasteful dinner. The restaurant especially the outdoor patio is a choice spot for a special date nite ~ be entertained with the boardwalk passerbys strolling with pups. The place was busy, so ordered entrees came out slowly. No problem there. It was the laughable conceited personalities from host to server ~ rolling eyes and rude tone that kept us wondering is it too much to ask for an extra napkin? Wrong to ask for another beer? If the bill comes to $200 requesting hot sauce should come with a le sourire :( The location is prime and is why the menu is $$$$.

So when the potatoes taste better than the main part of the dish = Mayday!!! It's been awhile since I last ate here & I was so looking forward to it. I guess I was reminded why it had been so long! I was not really impressed with my Benedict. It lacked that, as the French say, that certain - "Je ne sais quoi!" I've been spoilt like a king via amazing classic Benedicts (ala Botanist & ARC restaurants) & had high expectations that were not met! Provence Marinaside is a beautiful restaurant & perfectly located alongside the waterfront at False Creek, but the food = meh! Breakfast left me wanting so much more than what I just ate & experienced! Quality & taste was mediocre! I really wanted this to be a 5 Star experience but it wasn't! Honestly I left here with sadness! I'm willing to give dinner a try ... well just maybe!?? Comme ci comme ça!

I ordered an Oyster Po Boy, fries and a drink which came to total of $27.10. It was messy to eat Po Boy, but that wasn't an issue. Baguette was so crunchy on the outside it was perfect! I left my water and soda to drink them later after heading to washroom. Staff cleared my water and soda away. I still had half of soda in it. I felt thirsty after eating my food in the end. It'd have been nice if she asked me first before clearing dishes. I don't think I'll go back.

From the gold railings to coat check to a piano on the stairs to an old school oyster bar showcasing their wares proudly on display, Joe Fortes has a lot going on for it. But perhaps more so than anything else is an amazing happy hour for anyone who loves oysters. Service Before diving into the food let's talk about service. The servers here are dressed in the old full whites with black ties and give you full service. They have an expert knowledge of the menu and are willing to give you any and all opinions if asked. They check on you frequently and make sure you're having a good time with enough banter to make it friendly and welcomed. Happy Hour - Alcohol With that out of the way, we can talk about the happy hour. Yes, they have a great deal when it comes to their house red and white wines where you can get 6 oz for $6 CAD or 9 oz for $9 CAD. Their beers range from $5 CAD to $8 CAD and their cocktails are all under $10 CAD. Happy Hour - Food They have some incredible truffle fries, cut thick and sprinkled with parmesan as delicate as snow for $9 CAD. Their crab & corn fritters are slightly chewy but packed with flavor and come at $12 CAD. The coconut prawns sound just as delicious as they taste and come at $13 CAD. I would avoid the Steelhead ceviche though as it was more mashed avocado than ceviche. However, HOWEVER, the star of the show are their oysters. Coming at $1.75 an oyster, you get to be as gluttonous as you'd like whilst keeping your pockets happy. Vancouver is known for their amazing seafood and with this happy hour from 3 PM - 5 PM it gives you 2 hours to fill your belly with as many oysters as you can. Even if you ordered 50 oysters you would be under $90 CAD. I should know, I did that. Last Thoughts Even without the incredible happy hour Joe Fortes would be a restaurant you have to visit during your trip to Vancouver. With a great selection of food on their menu, wait staff that feel old world and professional, and a setting fit for the city, the happy hour is just the bonus that makes visiting Joe Fortes even more enticing. Come with an appetite, leave with a smile.

Michelin starred quality in their service by how they explained the menu, brought out the food, came back around to refill waters. Just top notch service and elegantly so. The food was good but not of value. Their lunch set was a good introductory to what they offer. I enjoyed the food for its flavours and presentation but I thought that it was a bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. They have a patio, which has a meh view overlooking the harbor, but beware of a breezy day. It will catch a bit of a wind tunnel. They have heaters and blankets but the heaters don't really reach unless you're sitting next to it.
