You don't have to travel all the way to New York; today we're trying sandwiches in Woodbridge, Connecticut. They are packed with filling and loaded with meat--the portion we ordered was perfect for two people. Also, don't forget to stop by the bakery section for the homemade pastries; they are wonderfully buttery and melt-in-your-mouth soft.
Unfortunately can't even give them a 3 because of how poor the pastrami was. I got a Rachel with everything on it, and a side of fries. I think I was spitting out bad pieces of meat (extremely chewy) with every single bite. Not a fun experience. Very dry as well. The fries were very tasty at least. Wouldn't come back.
Wow! This was my first time visiting all thanks to my high school best friend of 18 years. I've passed by this place but never got the chance to eat in. Luckily I was able to this time before my appointment. Of course being a first timer it's hard to choose what to eat. I got the most ordered wraps which was chicken bacon ranch wrap which was delicious. It was so fresh, the chicken was so tasty. My bestie got a pastrami sandwich. Our waitress was so kind to help pick and fast service. Definitely coming back! Also, they have the best pickles. The mood definitely give NYC vibes. Cheers!
Nice Deli! The Reuben Sandwich was Amazing!!! Very large portion - can easily be shared. The ambiance is typical deli look - the bright color reds and wood colors stand out. Service was quick and efficient. Check out was super easy up front.
Service was great. They gave me a better menu to look at while I was ordering Togo. The my made my sandwich pretty fast and look at that hefty thing!!! So much meat and it's good corned beef too! The sandwich was toasted, unlike NYC location and also $10 cheaper. Worth it. Chocolate bomb was meh. It had chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, and chocolate ganache. Just wasn't my thing but I know many other people like it!!!
It's my first time checking it out. I got stuck in traffic on route 15 so I decided to pull off saw the sign. The staff was super welcoming and friendly . They were able to provide recommendations for me. I ended up ordering the corn beef Reuben with some sweet potato fries. The location was nice and busy but not too busy where you couldn't find seating they had different varieties of foods upfront muffins, different pastries chips and even mustard and pickles to purchase. Corned beef Reuben was fantastic and nice and filling. The sweet potato fries were delicious.

Food: We ordered two different items and shared them. First was the Classic Fench Dip - grilled roast beef on a sub roll with au jus . We added provolone cheese. The meat did not have much flavor, and I did not enjoy the choice of roll. I thought the au jus could save it but sadly did not. I personally wouldn't order again. Second, we ordered the #8 Chesire - roast turkey & pastrami with cole slaw and Russian dressing. I believe we got it on Rye, but I'm not sure. This was delicious! I loved the cole slaw, which is usually a hit or miss. I would definitely order this again. Another item that stood out was the pickles! So delicious, cold, and crisp! The onion rings and fries were tasty as well . The atmosphere is awesome and the service was really good. Great vibes here, for sure. I will definitely be returning!
Had the special pastrami sandwich ! And it was solid , also had the soup of the day which was also solid . Definitely need to try more items for me to really get a good feel for the place . Service was good , and decoration is also good . Right off the highway so easy access
Lunch was great today. We were teased by the owner that we were late for St. Patrick's Day, but we had boiled corned beef platter with carrots, potatoes, and cabbage. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was fabulous. We totally love and appreciate the consistency and the quality that Katz's Deli and Restaurant provides.
Katz's Deli was next door to a Yelp event my daughter and I went to so we decided stop by. This was are first time eating at Katz's restaurant and my daughter was interested in trying the Corn Beef Sandwich. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted and seated immediately. I ordered a Corn Beef Sandwich with Swiss Cheese. Complementary Cole Slaw and Pickles were served and the Cole Slaw and Pickles were delicious. The Corn Beef Sandwich in my opinion was a 3.5 out of five. The Corn Beef needed some more flavor but the meat was tender and cooked just right. I couldn't really get the flavor of the meat so for me it tasted more like a Grilled Cheese. The Rye Bread was perfectly toasted and it was good sandwich other than not getting the flavor from the meat. The customer service was great as are waitresses came to are table multiple times to come check on us. The customer service was great even at check out. Four stars for customer service. I will definitely be back again to try different items on the menu.
When I found out CT had Katz I was so happy!!! My Mom used to make matzo ball soup for the holidays. Mom passed five years ago and its rare to find places that make matzo ball soup let alone similar to her's. Katz's matzo ball soup did not disappoint! When we sat down a good size dish of coleslaw was brought to our table along with pickles. The coleslaw was excellent. The pickles were not the type I like. Big matzo ball with nicely chopped carrots, onions, and celery. The soup also included thin noodles just like my Mom's. I took a soup to go it was so good and next time I'll take two to go. As You can see by the pics both of our sandwiches the corned beef and brisket were stacked with meat. This was a good filling lunch!

My friend and I stopped by this deli on our way home to NYC. When we arrived there were a few customers in the store sitting down and some online. The deli/restaurant was fairly large and spacious. They sell a variety of cold cuts, sandwiches, soups, salads, meal platters, baked goods and lots of other items. The staff were friendly and worked fast to keep the line moving. My friend ordered the roast beef hero that was jus okay to me. I would've preferred the pastrami. However, I ordered a small turkey chili with grated cheese on top (Ground Turkey, Kidney Beans, White Onion, and Jalapeños Simmered with Chili Powder and Other Secret Spices). I waited until I got home and slaughtered that chili. OMG, it was so flavorful and hearty. Of course, I was upset I didn't get a large. The chili came with some small crackers. I also purchased some macaroons and they were very yummy. I would definitely check this place out again and check out some other menu items. read more
Driving north from NY back to Windsor Locks, it's a toss up whether I stop at Katz's or the Cromwell Diner. Yesterday, the coin came up tails, so Katz it was. Lunchtime so I ordered a corned beef on rye and French fries w brown gravy. Plus a Dr. Brown's diet cream soda. Service was nonpareil. No sooner does one sit before a dish of pickles and cole slaw appears. Everything else came quickly, too. The corned beef was piled high, so high I had to eat some with a fork. The only topping needed was Beaver deli mustard (no tomato or lettuce needed). Fries nice and crispy, gravy comforting. Service great, food as good as NYC delis, price in line w other delis / restaurants. 5 delicious stars. Who knows what the coin flip will be next time. Either way, you can't go wrong. read more

Can tell you the last time I had good Jewish style deli food. Katz (not affiliated with the famous one in NYC) did not disappoint. The pastrami piled so high and better than any supermarket pastrami. Piled on good rye bread with sauerkraut. Oh so good. My wife had a smoked salmon on a toasted bagel. Just the right amount of smoke. No dine in deli experience is complete without the half sour pickles and coleslaw. Just as I remember. We were seated right away and the staff was very friendly and fast. Now that we know where this is, we'll be back for more classics. read more

I have retuned to this deli restaurant many times as the location is an easy spot to meet and there is plenty of parking here. During the warmer months you can eat under the overhang at outside picnic tables with checkered table cloths. There are no reservations so it is first come first serve. If going with a larger group it is best to get there early to get seated together. The menu is extensive and spans from breakfast and lunch to holiday meals. Service is friendly and efficient. I tend to select the pastrami Ruben or the pastrami Rachel. Ruben has sauerkraut and the Rachel has cold slaw. Fries on the side are warranted with this sandwich. They are packed with lots of thin sliced meat so I usually get two meals from one sandwich. There is a dessert case where you can take items to go. Everything looks so good. This is a family style restaurant and has been here for many years. Check them out. read more

I love it, Katz is too cute! There is very much a vintage dinne vibe while also being clean and starkly modern. The food was delicious - we got complimentary pickles, which I have been assured were fantastic. My egg sandwich was well cooked and seasoned, with the bacon well cooked. The potato pancakes were well cooked without much grease, and so great with sour cream! They also have this fantastic deli, so not only was there dessert, but the day old bagels still tasted fresh even later in the week. Our waitress was very kind and ready to offer her opinion, all suggestions she had were spot on. read more

No t is not, and the food lately is poor as is the service and prices are crazy high, like $25 for a sandwich. A $50 lunch for 2 small sandwiches!!!! We waited 20 min to be waited on, 30 min to get our food and another 20 min. to get the check!
