Stayed here for a work trip, so although I didn't get to choose my lodging, this is not the one I'd ever pick. This hotel is lackluster at best and dated for the typical quality you'd expect from the Marriott brand, basically a Marriott disguised as a 3-star hotel. Other than the fancy lobby areas (which they upkeep to make you think it's high class) the room itself is musky, old and outdated. Vents were dusty, and I found a water bug in my room on arrival, but after a long day of flying and unpacking your bag, no one wants to move rooms. Parking is a steep charge $32 a night for not even covered parking which wraps around the building because several close spots are for preferred club members. Of course no complimentary breakfast is provided (expensive restaurant) but at least they had coffee in the morning. One nice thing was the shuttle service that will take you within a couple miles, and service/drinks at the bar was great. I would not say the location was amazing, as it is downtown but appears a bit away from a prime spot full of bars/restaurants. read more

Already in love with this property already. Staffs are very kind, eager to help. Shuttle driver knows the best spots to eat! Rooms are recently renovated so it features the modern comfort and design Marriott hotel have. M club is easy access from the lobby too. Swimming pool and hot tubs are back for the summer. Also, gonna love the pop-up event where I get to try the free fried rice bar at the lobby! Never had that at other Marriotts! read more

I spent less than 12 full hours staying at this Marriott and I can say that they made my stay the best it could be! I came into town late (About 1030PM) for a short work trip and the folks at the front desk were a pleasure to speak with! All were super courteous and even though it was late, still attempted to make sure everything I needed was taken care of. Had a very bad experience at this Marriott property On Nov 10th stayed one night left my JBL clip 5 speaker on the towel holder called the next day spoke to someone that spoke no English whatsoever so that was pointless. Then the next day called back and spoke with a lady explained the situation and she said she'll talk to security and hotel cleaners and she'll call me back... 2 weeks later no call back no communication I happened to stay there one more time on Nov 24th Spoke to them again no one did nothing about it I got told that my speaker wasn't found... she even winked at me Of course wasn't found, one of your room cleaning crew stole my speaker So be very careful with your belongings when you stay at that hotel. On a side note, my room also had no soup in the dispenser... that really shows the level of care they have. read more

I rarely write 3 star reviews. What's to say about a place that's unremarkable and average? This 3 star review is strange because some elements of this hotel are fantastic, while others are off putting. I'll start with the good. 1. Free shuttle service. If you didn't drive to the hotel or are staying put in downtown providence, this is a nice service. Who wants to pay garage parking or find street parking all over downtown providence? The shuttle was always available, and picked up quickly after we called to return to the hotel 2. The M club. If you are platinum or higher, there is an M Club at this hotel. In addition to the typical snacks and soft drinks, and a nice hot beverage machine, they put out fresh baked cookies and various hors d'oeuvres throughout the day, chicken fingers, sliders etc. it's a nice place to hang out in between activities, and definitely saves a little money on snacks. The bad: 1. Parking . $32 a night to self park in an uncovered parking lot is outrageous. 2. The property. This is definitely not one of the gems of the Marriot franchise. The layout is odd, with a maze like layout and the lobby not being centrally located. The hotel is very dated and the rooms are somewhat run down (water stained stucco ceilings) and the location is not central or in an area that is convenient to walk to downtown activities. Overall, staying here wasn't a bad experience thanks to the shuttle and the M Club, and there are not a lot of options in the Marriot family in Providence, but barring a huge price difference I will opt for the Renaissance Hotel for future visits to Providence. read more

We were here midweek for a sports event. While a number of people from the event packed the hotel, felt like we had personalized service. As someone with Marriott status, there was a club, we had breakfast each morning, and our room was upgraded. Would def go back again. The nicest people work there. read more

We had a very nice stay at the Marriott. The staff was super friendly, our room had recently been refurbished and we loved the huge TV. Also their Bluefin Grille restaurant went above and beyond (see separate review)! The only glitches were that the system that allows you to use your phone as your room key was down, we had to ask to have our trash emptied and towels replaced (I did a mobile check-in and had requested this service) and Marriott reservations had told me that there was no shuttle service to and from the train station when in fact here is. All that aside, we had a very enjoyable stay! read more

This hotel property is a complete mess. It should not be three stars. Barely one star.... I don't know who creates those ratings, but obviously they've never stayed here . The room was dirty and beat up, no hot water (Luke warm shower). They had a full restaurant for breakfast And none of the bathrooms in the lobby area were open because of maintenance . The Marriott corporation should be ashamed of this property. Bathroom situation is horrible and gross. The positive The blue fin restaurant is good but overpriced and the staff were polite. read more

What can I say other than this hotel shouldn't bear the Marriott name. It's an embarrassment to the brand and front desk managers have given up. At least one manager, Laith, could care less about the experience we had. Not sure how detailed or what kind of notes he left for the other managers were, but when I went back to the front desk to share photos and the experience, I was told "Looks like Laith offered you points..." Everything was going well until the AC went out, the shower drain stopped working and we had move rooms at 11:30 at night with a young child. Isn't this what dream vacations are made of? Thankfully one manager, Christine, was able to switch us and handled the pressure of multiple failures and multiple customers simultaneously very well - so kudos to her. The poor engineering team had to basically MacGyver their way to success - getting the room back in working order wasn't a small task. And they weren't confident it wouldn't happen again in the middle of the night... so we made the move to a new room in slightly less disrepair. It was a busy weekend with multiple functions, so I know the staff was stretched a bit, but certainly not an excuse for how bad things were. Definitely not the experience we expected, nor our typical experience at Marriotts. Bottom line the only redeeming factor of this hotel is the Salon, G Salon & Spa! Please check them out - Gina and Vinny with the good hair will definitely take care of you. Just OK. I don't think I'd stay here again. Lobby? Beautiful. Staff at front desk? Excellent! Rooms? OLD. SO OLD. Bathroom was old and the shower was "patched up." The bathroom door only closed if you slammed it. Hard. Like, wake up the floor slam. Not awesome. TV had no remote and once we got one (easy fix) it took about 1/2 hour for it to connect to the wifi or satellite/etc. It was glitching constantly. They have a spa on site which is nice, should you need it. The indoor pool was old. The whole area was old. It really seems like they put the money into "front facing" areas for appeal. The pool is probably cool when it's summer as it seems to open right up to the outdoor pool but still, the indoor is old. The hot tub just looked gross. Sorry. But they do have towels on site and some seating. Restaurant seemed ok. We just had drinks at the bar and service was great at the start, but really was not great as we were trying to cash out. We were essentially ignored. Our credit card/bill was front & center and the bartenders just kept walking by us until we stopped one of them (finally). Parking is stupid. Sorry, just so stupid. They have a HUGE lot but charge you to park there. It's not a public lot or a public garage. It's their lot. So you have to pay after x amount of hours of being there. Money grab. I get they have to pay for their property and whatnot, but for crying out loud... maybe make it $10 or something? (We did know about paying for parking before staying so that's on us, not them - it's just my personal opinion). Location is good - quick drive to the mall or Dunkin Donuts Ctr (I know it's something else now). It was just too old for my taste. Not vintage old, just old. read more

This hotel should not be open right now. It is bad enough the hotel sounds like it's sitting on the freeway, but now there is construction that goes on all night while you're attempting to sleep. I recommend they start handing out free earplugs at the front desk if they're going to remain open. 2 stars because the fitness center was nice. read more

If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. Honestly, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I booked through the Hotels App and booked a Deluxe King. We knew we'd have to pay for parking, but it was $20 per day which I thought was crazy expensive and if you're parked there one hour without paying they fine you $70!!! So beware. We went up to our room and there was a strong smell. After getting over the smell, we noticed that the room we walked into was not at all the room that I booked. It turns out they gave us a regular King room which was not the renovated nice room I had paid extra for. We went down to the front desk and I explained the issue. They told me that it didn't come through on their end as a Deluxe. I showed them my confirmation that proved it and they got the manager who told me the same thing. I had to awkwardly ask what could be done about it because I paid for a Deluxe room and that's what I should be getting. He said that the best they could do is put us in a Deluxe Queen or they could comp us breakfast for the three days. We settled for the nicer room but honestly we should've gotten both. The manager did not seem to want to help us out or please the customer and he showed clear annoyance. He even tried to tell me that they charge the same price for the renovated room and the old rooms... that doesn't make sense. AND that the price of the Queen and the King were the same... The interaction left me feeling like I was getting played. The TV said we had complimentary streaming but it didn't work at all. They also came into our room while we were gone even though we had the privacy door tag. While they changed our sheets and gave us new towels, it felt like a huge invasion of privacy. Our recent stay was a beautiful experience. Mechele and her staff were professional and very accommodating. Greeting us with warm hospitality. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. Providing extra pillows is always a plus for me. A beautiful outdoor pool and patio, workout room and other accessories. We ate in the restaurant. Our meal was superb. It's wonderful to have a positive experience and this one was over the top! We enjoyed our stay tremendously and definitely recommend this hotel. read more

stayed here one night with a couple girlfriends for a girls night. it had the feel of a best western only worse. at least at the best western the continental breakfast is free and not $30 per person. the best western pool and hot tub is clean and doesn't have a dirt ring around the edge like this place. I wasn't going to write this but today I got a $42 parking ticket for parking in the back of the lot for one night. that was the icing on the cake. I had already decided to not return but I'm hoping this review reaches people so they don't waste their money or at least prepares them to lower their expectation's. hopefully they use my $42 for upkeep. the only good thing was the bar tender. she was very nice and we enjoyed having drinks at least. read more

I'm a Bonvoy Titanium Elite leisure traveler who plans to find alternatives to the Marriott Providence Downtown going forward. I can almost live with the lack of breakfast during the week and the housekeeping only on the fourth of five nights. Then there's the gym and the fact that it took three complaints to get wipes or water was never replenished. What I find totally unacceptable is the lackadaisical or non existent enforcement of masks for non-vaccinated people. This is clear because packs of teens and preteens are running through the hotel without a mask in sight. They are part of a Lacrosse tournament that no doubt requires protective gear - masks should be mandatory too. Since few in that age group are statistically vaccinated yet, I'm sure I've been exposed. @marriott makes a big deal about signage and cleanliness, but I'm forced to deal with a potential super spreading event. I came to Providence after staying at the #GrandHyattDC which provided the exact opposite in terms of customer service and amenities. I was treated like royalty there. The Providence Marriott Downtown seems to care only about their bottom line-- not loyal customers. I will be crossing it off my list and will seek my next 15 scheduled days in Providence somewhere else. read more

The restaurant also has a beautiful mulberry accent color added in. The chairs are nicer then average & the booths are separated by beautiful geometric partitions with sections of blue and purple stained glass. Very pretty! Every table is decorated with 3 live succulents! This adds to their simple but elegant design. The staff waitresses and managers included are extremely attentive! This was really hard for me to give this place such a low rating but something happened here that I can't get passed. Pros: nice clean rooms, decent pool area, big hotel with plenty of amenities, and free parking Cons: pool area allows reservations so you may get stuck with parties of people who aren't even hotel guests. Not enough chairs by the pool making it a hostile environment for anyone who wants to lay by it. BIGGEST CON: they were behind on cleaning rooms 4th of July weekend and we requested just some towels and it took them FOUR HOURS to get us 3 towels. We couldn't shower! We had to push back some our plans and ultimately ruined our day. Not to mention we had been in the pool so we were just sitting with that chlorine on our skin. It was an awful experience. They did give us free breakfast after I had to complain but didn't really address the problem. I hope that issue doesn't happen again as it is a beautiful hotel and a perfect location. read more

I was surprised to find a Tour Fee of $4.22 on my bill after checking out. This seems like some kind of junk fee that hotels are using to pad their bills. If you spend the night, be prepared to pay an extra $20 for overnight /daily parking in the hotel parking lot. There is no available parking in the immediate area and the town of Providence monitors the lot and will issue violations. In other words, parking in the hotel lot is like parking on the street with a meter. PS A fire alarm at 730am the next morning capped off the fun :( read more

Stayed over the weekend with my girl. The room is very dated, the air conditioner is rusted and dusty, the fridge is dirty and the freezer is full of condensation ice. The bed, towels, and pillows, all need an update and smell funny. The coffee machine was nasty. Everything feels like the $300/night charge was a rip-off. The room worths basically a Motel 6. We thought the pool looked nice in the advertisement. However, it's full of kids, and by extension, urine. We were discouraged to go anywhere near it upon the sight of some preschoolers' field trip at the water park. Also, don't let the name fool you, this venue is 6 min drive from the actual downtown. About a 25min walk. It is not in downtown. The only redeeming factor is that the shower drain isn't clogged and water goes away fast... And the toilet flushes. Which tells you a lot if these were the high notes of this place. read more

Planned to stay the weekend here. At check in was given an outdated room with a faulty AC unit during a heat wave. Asked to change rooms three times to three different people bc it was too hot and humid to breath. The final answer from the manager: "you can't change rooms because we're sold out" Checked out immediately in search of other lodging for the rest of my time here in PVD. AC is working great here at the Omni. As a business traveler who stays in Marriott hotels across the country for a majority of night per year, I'm disappointed and dissatisfied with this hotel. Our server (Desiree) was stunning! Bright beautiful smile! Very attentive! Made the food taste even better. ;-) On the negative side (and I do know that the following comments are NOT the hotel's fault): This location attracted undesirable clientele... We were looking forward enjoying relaxing time at the pool and hot tub but it was anything but relaxing... [...] The pool was a real ZOO! Daytime, the pool area was filled with dozens of screaming annoying kids! Parents giggling... [...]. Yes, a few kids is fine, and expected, but this was WAY out of control. My ears are still ringing.... In the evening, it was a pack of stupid [...] teenagers monopolizing the whole pool (screaming and horseplaying nonstop. They probably rubbed their glands to mark their territory too, who knows) and a family of potbelly cretins assuming ownership of the whole hot tub, not even really using it! These idiots were just dipping their feet in the water. We waited, and waited, and waited, but no. Hot water felt good on their feet... (If you're not using it, get the ___ out. Go back to your room) And people bring pizzas and camp out by the pool all day it seems... Maybe they don't even get out to use the restrooms, who knows. Pool was full of long hair.... Bleh.... We recently stayed here the night before I had to be in Providence for an early morning appointment. We got a beautifully decorated and NEW room. The new look is clean, organized and minimalist yet still comfortable. The bed, the pillows, the linens... All delightful. We arrived late and left early so I wish I got to enjoy some of the amenities or have more to review on, but someday, I will be back to enjoy that pool. read more

Decent marriott with free parking and a large pool. The pool is nice for summer months and usually has a big crowd. The rooms are hit or miss. If you get a renovated room then I think its worth staying here, otherwise the older rooms are disappointing. Theres not much more to the hotel, its near the mall, probably a 10-15 min walk and the staff is friendly. If you find a decent rate and need free parking, i would pick this one over the courtyard thats located much closer to the mall (using mall as landmark, wouldnt base your hotel decision on a mall lol) read more

My experience was generally positive. Stayed for two nights for a conference held in-site. This facility is probably best-used for corporate events or weddings. Positives are that it's a short walk from the train station. Plenty of cans nearby. My room had a good view of the Capitol. Waking distance to a large mall, as well as fun cafes and bars around RISD. Got a good group rate at $189/night. Negatives are that it was drafty / chilly in most spots of the hotel. The layout of my room was really awkward -- felt like a poor retrofit. Only one person in our group had a bathrobe in the room. Housekeeping came late so they were still in the room when I completed my meetings. Walls were not sound proofed -- I could hear my neighbor moving about, which makes me feel self-conscious. I'll likely try some other place next time to switch things up, but again not a bad choice for a corporate event or wedding. read more

Checked into this hotel for a yearly weekend trip with my teenage son. Opted to go to a higher end hotel for the experience. Check-in was fine but at 11 PM on Thursday night the jackhammers on the highway started 30 feet from our room. We were never told that there was construction going on on the highway and had I've been notified I might have switched hotels or ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. I feel like they were not transparent with what is going on on the highway right now. My son and I did not sleep a wink the entire night because the jackhammer so for seven hours consistently. For the amount of money that you're paying for a room which is upwards of $300, you would think that they would have some transparency. I understand normal city noises. But jackhammers 30 feet from your room is not a normal city noise and should be told ahead of time. The pool is literally 100 degrees. I understand it's heated but it felt like a warm pond. read more

Let me start off by saying that Marriott is always my preferred hotel. For this trip I would never stay at this hotel again unless they did some serious upgrades. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever been in, it was the most thinnest mattress and you can feel every spring and both beds in my double room felt exactly the same. The shower and bathroom look pretty old and definitely in need of an update. There was a decent selection on the TV of channels. I wish that they were similar to some of the more upgraded Marriott's that give you the option to log into your Netflix account and watch streaming TV. I had dinner the first night in the restaurant the Bluefin and service was extremely slow. I started with a cup of clam chowder which was very tasty and ordered a burger with fries. I requested the burger medium rare, it came out well done so it was a tad dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. It took them forever to replace my water and due to the wait I decided to pass on dessert and just head back to the room. I was only there two nights, the hotel looked like it did have a really nice indoor/outdoor pool and Grilling area but I was underwhelmed by the food service and the horrible beds. read more

There was a broken piece of glass on the floor, which I stepped on and thank goodness I did not cut my foot. The common areas are worn and dirty. Definitely would not recommend! read more

This Marriott on Orms Street can be easily found, and has a HUGE parking selection , so you never have to worry about parking. Right off the highway also making it easy to get to especially being in the downtown area for travelers. Walking into this hotel it's such a beautiful view , you walk right into a beautiful lounge / restaurant and to your left is the front desk. The employees here always make sure to give you the best experience at a low cost. That's a plus about this hotel the costs aren't pocket breaking and you get great service. This hotel as I said has a lounge area , a restaurant , a bar , a Pool , a jacuzzi , a gift shop , a hair salon and a spa, and I'm pretty sure I left something out they offer a lot. Now to the rooms! The rooms are adorable and cozy. The beds are super comfortable and the sheets are so soft as well as the pillows. The flat screen tv's are nice and clear even though sometimes the remotes are picky when they want to work. And no worries about harassing the employees with your every needs that's what they're there for and they go out there way to give you what you need. As you can say I really enjoy this hotel and of course I will recommend it to everyone , people within Rhode Island who just needs a vacation , or even any in MA or CT trying rk get away, and of course everyone else try it out . Parking: Lots of free parking, only requirement is putting a parking permit in the window of your car to let security know you are a guest. Lobby: Modern, but not over the top, typical face lift of a hotel lobby but very clean and welcoming. Only downside is the trek to the elevators for some of the guests. Rooms: Very modern and clean. The updated photos someone listed already are accurate. USB at desk and bed so you don't need the cords or wall adapter which is nice touch. Restaurants: We were there for a work function and the food was great! Great presentation and the staff had a great attention to detail. Overall: I would stay here again without question. read more
