For 3 days only: Friday, August 29 - Sunday, August 31, there was a free Disney & Alice in Wonderland Art & Cosplay Expo in Hilton Providence Downtown Hotel. The website was easy to use to book the free tickets. The expo was open on Friday 6-9 pm and Saturday & Sunday 12-6 pm. I entered Hilton Providence Downtown Hotel on Saturday around 1:30pm and saw a sign that the Amazing Art Expo was on the 2nd floor. I headed upstairs and followed some more signs to the Amazing Art Expo. There was a table of prints selling for $15 each and free prints for sharing the event on Facebook or Instagram. The Amazing Art Expo had tables of Harry Potter, Studio Ghibli, Disney, Star Wars, Alice in Wonderland, and so much more prints. No photography was allowed in the room. The prints were selling 1 for $35 each, 2 for $30 each, 3 for $25 each, and 4+ for $25 each. David Sobolov, the Voice Actor for Emperor Kaido in "One Piece," Gorilla Grodd on The CW Network drama The Flash, and Sean Carlson, a freelance artist born and raised in New York, were both at the Amazing Art Expo. It was nice to walk around and see the different prints. There were a good amount of people. read more

Look at all these one star reviews! Shameful for a Hilton. I booked rooms with breakfast included in the price on Priceline, they cost more, and the hotel just would not provide what I paid for. So I had a half dozen kids doing a college tour and had to go off site somewhere else for breakfast when we were on a tight schedule AND I PREPAID FOR BREAKFAST!! I had proof of this and the very snotty front desk clerk with endless attitude said he couldn't see it on his end so he couldn't do anything. Well, contact a manager I said, and he refused. They said a manager would be in 10 am the next day, an hour after we would have left the hotel. People with problems in the morning - too bad, it seems, that is their approach. This was bad enough, but then it took many hours of my time explaining it to these people. Very little to no acceptance of their fault in this, nor agreement that my printed receipt specifying breakfast should have been accepted at the time, even though they admitted this has happened before. They said Priceline shouldn't offer this option, but a year later I checked and it was still an option! This is pretty strong proof in my mind they do not deal with their business, they see problems and ignore them instead of fixing them. So they are prepared to let you pay for breakfast on Priceline, and just not provide it. The manager was nice enough, but it was way too much effort to get my money back, taking many phone calls - in my view they should have been running to give it back given their huge failure to perform. It seemed like absent hours of time to try to force them to refund the difference, their plan is to just not provide and keep it. I had 50 rooms of college tour business this summer, and I didn't bother to even quote them, as you would expect, and went to an IHG which has been great with a well reviewed breakfast by my clients. My parents stayed at this hotel in September while on a short trip from Boston to Rhode Island. That stay ended in tragedy, and I feel strongly that others deserve to know what happened. During the night, my mother suffered a sudden heart attack in her room. My father immediately called the front desk for help. There is an AED machine located directly behind the desk -- yet staff did not bring it to the room. After the fact, our family was told that staff assumed she was already dead, without medical training, without assessing her, and without attempting to use the life-saving device that was steps away. That decision was not theirs to make. It took away her chance. We were later told by hospital staff that had the AED been used, the outcome may have been different. My mother was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where she remained for a week in the MICU -- in a coma, intubated, fighting for her life. During that week, my father continued to stay at this hotel so he could be at the hospital every morning at the start of visiting hours and stay until he was forced to leave each night. The hotel was fully aware of this situation. Family members contacted management multiple times. Despite knowing the circumstances, the hotel refused to offer any compassion -- not even something as simple as free parking. My father paid full price every night while watching his wife fight for her life. That level of indifference is impossible to understand. This experience revealed a complete lack of emergency preparedness, empathy, and basic human decency. An AED is placed in a building for a reason. Ignoring it -- and then showing no compassion afterward -- is something I will never forget. My mother ultimately passed away. I cannot change that. But I can make sure others are aware of the choices made here. I would strongly urge anyone considering staying at this hotel to think carefully about whether you trust this establishment to act in a true emergency -- or to treat you like a human being in your worst moment. read more

The bed was like sleeping on a board and I had to take pain medication because my back was hurting the next morning. The food in the restaurant was mediocre at best. I did NOT check yelp reviews before I booked the Hilton. However, my experice seems better than some. I was looking more for location, and relying on Hiltons reputation and past experience. Check in went pretty smooth, but the gal working behind the desk was not very friendly. She was more interested in talking to a coworker. The room was a good size, but seemed a bit musty. I put the AC down and did my hotel checks. The bathroom was clean, the bed was big free, and the mini fridge worked, so I changed clothes and went in search of dinner. When I got back the room still had the smell of moisture. I think it was the AC. The thing never shut off once in the few days I was there. It wasn't warm, but it never felt like it got any cooler either. The hotel is dated. Wallpaper is peeling a bit here and there. They have dreadful double sized beds. I hate that. The view was nothing spectacular, mine was of a parking lot and the overpass. One thing I will say, the housekeeper who was working the 9th floor while I was there, did a fantastic job. I stay in a lot of hotels and I am not messy in them, but every day that bathroom was CLEAN. And the bed wasn't just made, the sheets were changed. The location is really good. Got in around 4pm and left the car parked for a few hours before heading out for the night assuming I would have an open spot when I got back around midnight, nope turns out they let it overfill with people double parking, I had already paid their ridiculous city parking hotel fee( for some reason Providence Hotels charge like a big city) I expected a solution that wouldn't involve me parking across the street and paying 35 bucks that I had to get in cash after calling the employee to show up for the transaction lol I also didn't have cash of course and had to walk back to hotel to pay their atm fee, this all took 90 minutes to get back to my room. The worst Hilton ever been too as well as the grossest hotel burger I've ever eaten, still regret not getting better food elsewhere. read more

I was very satisfied with the proximity to the Dunkin Donuts Convention Center and within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, a CVS, and the Providence Place Mall. There is a Starbucks attached to the building, but there isn't an entrance from inside the hotel, but it is directly to the left when you exit the hotel. The majority of the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, with the exception of the gentleman working last night(3/19/22), we didn't make eye contact when talking and he body language expresed that he'd prefer to be anywhere but at work.. Our room was clean, the bathroom was clean, and everything was in proper working order. For me, the bed could have been firmer, but that is a preference. The only negative was there weren't any premium T.V. Channels. You stay at this hotel for the location. It does not describe itself as a luxury hotel; it is a basic 3-star hotel that I didn't have any negative experiences. Not going to blow you away with luxury, but it's a clean and well located hotel. I am not happy at all with this hotel. We stayed here for a wedding, and I should have done my investigation beforehand. Not worth the almost $300 we spent for that night. Maybe the price was high because of graduation season, but below is everything that went wrong with our stay. 1) the AC never got cold. We put it on 68 and it felt like 75 all through the night 2) the TV was working off and on. It was constantly giving us a no signal screen 3) the front desk service and car lot company was completely unhelpful. We had a handicapped placard and were unable to use the handicapped spot because people without a handicapped placard were parked there. We called for assistance and we're met with "it could take a while, there's parking across the street in the lot" 4) there isn't ANY complimentary coffee in the lobby. We had to go to the Starbucks, not attached - you need to walk out - to get coffee. But since the Hilton owns it, I COULDNT use my Starbucks rewards. 5) we weren't refunded for parking and were given the run around for who to call. The parking attendant was no help, and neither was the receptions during check out. 6) the curtan in the room would NOT close all the way, leaving a very annoying band of sunshine on our faces in the morning lol. There are two Hilton brands I tend to avoid, Hilton & Embassy Suite, as these two have seen much better days. Their newer brands are exceptional. I was in Providence on business, so I did not have a choice. The night shift desk agent was very nice. The revolving front door was broken with a temporary sign in place. My husband's car and 2 other customers care was broken into while parked in the hotel's lot--after we paid $32 per night for parking. Not only did the hotel fail to provide a secure environment, but they also had the audacity to tell us they're not responsible. The manager casually mentioned she saw the damage when she arrived and had already filed a report with the company. When I asked for a copy to submit to our insurance, I was told it couldn't be shared because it was for internal use only. Are you kidding me? We paid for parking, trusted this hotel with our property, and now we're left to deal with the aftermath on our own. I've stayed at Hilton hotels across the country and never experienced anything this appalling. This location is a disgrace to the Hilton name. I would never stay here again, and I strongly advise others to stay away--unless you're okay with paying premium prices for zero accountability and absolutely no security. This place is a mess, not worthy of the Hilton name. The entire hotel has a tired, worn-out vibe. The lobby's odor was nauseating. The first room (lower floor) we were placed in had a horrible stench. A worker came to the door with an air freshener that someone (a different room on the same floor) had ordered. He sprayed something that only made the room stench even worse. Our room was changed to an upper level (Hilton "Honors Executive" floor - see photo). Everything in the new room needed repair and/or replacement: torn furniture, rust stains in the bathroom, broken shower fixtures (see more photos). Definitely overpriced. read more

Definitely an unsafe hotel to stay at! I checked in on my Hilton app & they provided the digital key. I went to my room and someone was already assigned the room. The tv was on bathroom towels everywhere and a mess. I went to the front Desk and the lady who claimed to be a supervisor Cheney was rude, loud and ghetto. She refused to reach out to a manager saying it was too late to call the mgr on duty even though it was a safety issue. She downgraded my room no discount offered since I previously had a top floor kind bedroom purchased. I called the diamond desk and they said I would receive a call from the GM. Instead I received the attached email. He could clearly careless.... And insulted me with "depositing 10,000 points (which is not even worth a value of 1 night). I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. Booked a reservation well in advance. When we pulled up there were people everywhere hanging out drinking and smoking in front of the lobby and playing games basketball. Went in to check in and the owner said my reservation was canceled. Impossible! After calling an employee I know who works there. He said the owner will cancel reservations to get a higher rate from someone else. That's what happened! My wife and I had to spend the night in the car because all the hotels were booked in the area. Stayed here for a night while I was on a work trip. The location was great, only a 10-15 minute walk away from the train station. When I walked in, the revolving door wasn't working (looks like there may have been some flooding as there were large industrial fans pointed towards it) and the lobby smelled a bit damp. Not the best first impression but nothing to really fret about. The front desk person was great but as I had checked in on the app, I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't just use my electronic key and skip the desk all together (this is why I love Marriott). The room was dated but the bed was comfortable and I had a great view of downtown providence. Another good thing about this hotel is the workout area. It was large and had everything you would need for a good workout. The restaurant/bar downstairs (I believe it was called the Vig) was great for a late night meal. I had the lobster ravioli with one of my colleagues while he opted for a burger and both were very good. Overall, this hotel was nice but I'd probably go for a newer establishment that's a bit closer to the train station if I'm in the area for work again! read more

Thank goodness we only stayed for a night but it was definitely way too expensive (paid $401 including taxes and parking). NOTE: Overnight parking fee is $27 per vehicle since it's downtown. There is no free Wi-Fi, so bring your hotspot. - Hotel lobby - half of the lights were off; very outdated - Elevator - very dark; black with mirrors; also smelled. - Double Bed Room (full-sized bed, not Queen) - smelled like cigarettes; window curtains were stained, ripped, and tied (see pics). It looked like someone got into a fight or tried to 'fix' it by tying the curtains together. Since we were only staying for a night, it wasn't a big deal but we were shocked to see it and had to report it to the front desk, so we won't get charged. The bed was not properly done and found small holes on the bedsheets. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. This hotel is definitely not a 4-star hotel but a big motel. read more

The hotel is disgusting. My first room smelled like mildew. I asked to switch rooms (which I've never done before) and my second room also smelled. In addition, the room is gross with stains every where. Lastly, at 10:30pm someone was shaking my door trying to get in. I looked out the peephole and it was a staff member saying, "this room is supposed to be vacant". I called the front desk and got no apology...only a "Um, I think that's our engineering department." I stayed at this hotel Saturday, August 5th to Sunday, August 6th. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!!! The hotel is rated 3.5 stars, but it should be rated 1.5. My partner and I were put in a disabled room which was extremely small. The room smelled, we couldn't raise the shower head, it was also coming off the wall and I could see that they plastered the ceiling from a previous leak. The floor was sticky and there was a mini ironing board that made it difficult to iron our clothes. There was no ice machine on the floor (7th) so I went to the 6th floor only to see that the ice machine was not working on that floor. Unfortunately, there was a sign indicating that I had to now go to the 8th floor. We decided to extend our stay in Providence and booked a room at the Residence Inn down the street. The Residence Inn was much cleaner, more modern, spacious and half the price we paid for the Hilton. We slept very well and left a tip for the room attendant. Hilton used to be a great brand recognized for it high standards. I was extremely disappointed and recommend to my friends, family and colleagues to never stay at this hotel when visiting Providence, RI. We will definitely contact corporate about our extremely disappointing experience. read more

Two night stay. November 2022. Desk staff was very nice. The hotel rooms are tired and worn out. Dents in wall. A patched spot of wallpaper half hanging on. This place needs a full remodel. I do not recommend room 1411 or any others close to the elevators. It was non-stop noise of the elevator up and down all night long. Not noisy guests but a noisy elevator. That said it served our purpose as we slept in the room and that was all. We were in town for a wedding so we were at functions elsewhere spending time with family. Fitness Center is 24 hours though and has a lot of equipment. It is very convenient to the downtown night life and there is a lot of activity in the evenings. read more

We had a four-day three night stay here and really liked the hotel.It was in walking distance of Federal Hill and a short ride to downtown, the Riverfront, Potomac Place, Thayer Street, and Cranston where we needed to go. The staff, including the restaurant staff, was extremely friendly and I received texts from management to ensure that we got everything we needed. While we read past negative reviews of the restaurant, Vig, we had dinner and several breakfasts there and really liked it. Its a very nice sports bar. Portions were large and tasty, service was very good, and prices were reasonable. Our only issue was that the TV signal was weak and we agree with other guests that there was a musty smell. There is a $27 parking fee but this was noted on the websites it was not unexpected. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. I booked this room back in June. Specifically asked for a refrigerator for my 3 little kids for their milk and medicines. Confirm regularly and that I would be there late. They gave my room away!! No frig anywhere, ice machines on every other floor, of course not mine. The beds are so small, between a twin and full. A grown couple could not share a bed, never mind twins age 9. I had 2 children with me and staff showed no empathy for me and offered no resolution other than to go to the other hotel which ruined my night because it was a logistical nightmare. Hotel manager was useless and unwilling to do anything for me. Booked through Priceline which was equally underwhelming with my complaint. I've traveled to PVD a lot and this is definitely one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The staff is great but as other reviewers have said the accommodations are dirty and run down. Maintenance had to come reset the bathroom light for me and the temperature control did not work either. There is a decent hotel bar...our young bartender was very friendly although she had never heard of a hot toddy. And I hate rooms with no minifridge/microwave and this was one of those situations. The only downside is the room we had did not have a refrigerator and the drop off area into the hotel is limited and traffic backs up into the street when it's busy. The positives: Clean lobby, rooms, etc. Friendly and helpful staff from check-in to cleaning crew. Comfortable sized rooms and reasonably priced. Great location next to the Dunkin Donuts arena and Convention Center. We lucked out and booked this last minute before my daughter's graduation. The rooms were available 2 days prior to check-in and the rates were cheaper than the hotel we booked in Warwick last year. Unfortunately the Providence area hotels jack up the prices during graduation week but bargains can be found it you check closer to your arrival date. They have a Starbucks next to the lobby and a restaurant called The Vig which has 4 star yelp reviews. I prefer Bolt Coffee a block away and there are so many great restaurants walking distance from the hotel we didn't get a chance to try The Vig. Parking is easy once you get past the drop off area. You have the option of Valet parking for $28 or self parking for $25. I opted for the $25 self parking not because I'm cheap oh well just a bit cheap but it's also easier to have access to the car if I need to get something or take it out. Overall I would definitely come back to this hotel for an overnight stay. For several nights I'll stay if they have a room with a refrigerator. read more

A month ago (November 13), I had the worst experience of my travel history. I'm a travel consultant/influencer and have dealt with many hotels over the last 7 years. I observe many hotels as part of my work (noting poor customer service and cleanliness concerns, so the companies can improve), but this stay, I had a reservation because I had a physical therapy appointment the following day in Cranston, RI, for my neurological and neck injuries, which I had to cancel and was charged $100, because I was kicked out of the hotel, by a maintenance worker, because I observed the following negligence - 3 rooms, 4th floor, 9th floor, 6th floor, all rooms had bedbugs and musty odors (which also indicates bedbugs). Providence Hilton management/workers continue to deny/lie about these claims, despite my seeing the bedbugs under my iPhone magnifier, running over a live bedbug with an iron, causing blood to squish out of it. As well as a Hilton GM from another property confirming it. Also 2 out of the 3 elevators were broken, and the one that was running was an expired license (which was reported to the chief inspector of the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, as well as the City of Providence Mayor's Office and the Providence Inspections and Standards for the unsanitary conditions.) After I came down from the first room, the woman at the front desk said, "This is the first time I'm hearing about this," which is an odd response, also both maintenance workers had smug looks on their faces. The 2nd time I came down from the other room, the woman at the desk said, "Those aren't our sheets." Really? What kind of a defense is that? In an email management lied - Additionally, we reviewed the photos you provided, and while we appreciate you sharing them, some appear to depict details that don't match our property. - They're the mattress pads/toppers! - And then she went on to say, "I don't think you took those photos today." They are timestamped. While in the 3rd room, the maintenance guy barged in and said, "I just called the police on you, you're going to have to leave!" Wow! That's beyond unprofessional and defensive. He knew I caught many violations and decided to intimidate me into leaving. I waited for the police to arrive and he admitted he never even called them. I'm disabled and autistic and walking around Providence, in the dark (I don't see well in the dark), with my forearm crutch, was a very scary situation. The next morning I woke up with a bedbug bite on my right foot. I have never been treated so badly. Providence Hilton/The Prociccanti Group needs to be held accountable for their actions. I find it incredibly insulting for them to continue to deny and gaslight what happened. It's a slap in the face. I know what happened. I'm experiencing PTSD because of all this. Another manager lied saying I wasn't charged (I was!) I attached the invoice they sent and my bank statement. Was it worth it to lie, deny, intimidate, etc? Consumers have more power than you realize. I will never stay at another Hilton property. You didn't just lose me, you lost all my followers online now and in the future! read more

The room we were in was so so unbearably hot we had to keep our door open to let cooler air from the hallway in! I had a migraine the entire weekend from the heat! All of our asthma was so bad! Come to find out the entire hotel was that hot and no way to control temp for each room! For my troubles they have me free parking! No discount or refund at all!
