After reading the reviews I figured this would be an average Marriott so since we needed a place to stay while attending a basketball tournament we gave it a chance.. Sadly it is pretty much subpar as far as Marriotts go. When you walk into the lobby and all common areas they are beautiful and modern -however you will be disappointed once you get to your room. First off, we were not told there were two different towers nor directed to the correct one so we went up to the 6th floor only to have to come back down and request directions to our room as it was not accessible from the elevators we took. When we walked into the room I was disappointed to say the least. The room is extremely dated and there was a stale smell. The ceiling was the old 80s style stucco. The chair was stained. The bed/mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom was super tiny and the the shower head and faucets were dated. There was a faint permanent ring in the tub. Also in room 606 in the tower to which we were basically banished we were so lucky to be right outside the elevator in a room with continual knocking from the air conditioning system. Should note we didn't see many other people so why did we have to be right there, near the elevator? Ordered an $8 Caesar salad for my daughter and the size was okay but the romaine was not crisp, in fact it was wilted and obviously not fresh. They really need to do better. Not even an average Marriott! Should not bear the Marriott name. This is a 2 Star room at best. The dismal late night menu had like 6-9 items to choose from- one of which was chobani yogurt with granola or something for $5. This place definitely is not worth $200 a night. I've stayed in nicer places for less money. Do yourself a favor- if you are used to staying in nice, modern hotels don't stay here. I'll know better next time. read more

I would give 5 stars if not for the experience we had in the club on our way to breakfast. A staff member named Iris stopped us and only us, a young black couple, as we entered to check if we were really members. The breakfast itself was great but I'd be lying if I said this experience didn't cloud our morning. Otherwise, the room and accommodations were wonderful! We came during a busy college graduation weekend and we still were cared for and had access to all the amenities we wanted without it feeling crowded. read more

I experienced racism at this hotel today. It's my birthday tomorrow and my boyfriend picked this hotel for us to stay at. It was literally the worst experience I've ever had in my life that I started to cry. They had problems checking us in on their end but took it out on us. The manager, Omar took my boyfriends card to check us in. He put in the chip and took the card out even though it said "do not remove". He tried it again and it declined. My boyfriend and I were so confused. We checked with his bank and they said that the hotel charged him. The amount was deducted out of his account. We showed the manager this and had the bank speak to one of their front desk associates so we thought that because there was a problem on their end they would still give us the room and speak to accounting when they come in the next day. The manager did not want to give us the room. I was so shocked, I started to cry because I thought that they were gonna still proceed with giving us the room since it wasn't our fault. I worked at a hotel in Manhattan my freshman year of college and there were many situations like this and depending on the situation, my manager would still let people check in their room so they can figure things out with accounting. I seriously feel like this is racism. If my boyfriend and I were anything else but black they would've let us check in. Omar told us to use a different card to check in and I was like for what? We have other cards but what's the point if we were already charged on one card? God did this for a reason. After this happened, my boyfriend and I called Omni providence hotel. We reserved the hotel. I'm so upset we didn't pick this hotel first. As we were checking in, the front desk seen that I was upset so I told them what happened. They were shocked that the Marriott providence didn't give me the room as well. Then a lady came up to me because she overheard me explaining the situation to the front desk. She said that her sister had a bad experience with Marriott providence. She said that the front desk was so rude and to not stress about it because I came to the right hotel. Everyone here at Omni is so nice! So happy I came here. Another thing, omar didn't trust that my boyfriend had the funds because if he did he would've let us had the room AND I spoke and literally vented to one of the front desk associate and she didn't feel bad at all. Usually people who genuinely cared or felt bad would be like I'm sorry about this. After I said what I had to say, she said "okay" . AND Omar asked me why was I getting aggravated with him? Like what kind of question is that? Anyways, Do yourself a favor and avoid going to this hotel! They are really mean and their customer service is horrible. read more

A quick update to previous reviews. Just completed another stay. Although this hotel is in desperate need of updating, the customer service is always outstanding. This visit was greeted with the typical smiles and hospitable attitudes by the reception staff. Despite the well used appearance of most rooms, service means a lot and the convenience of the executive lounge makes the frequent stops in the area draw me into this Marriott. Tonight, the executive lounge was freezing cold though. Turn the heat on! The service staff in the lounge was so very friendly and courteous. They sometimes are the unsung heroes of providing a smile at the end of a hectic travel day. read more

Marriott seems to be out of touch with their customers of late, certainly the front desk clerk/possibly the manger was based on his aloofness (at best), arrogance (at worst). Unexpected detour to Providence I scurried to find a place prior to getting into the area. I tried calling this location but the call rolled up to a Marriott call center, another horror story in itself. There was no indication on the hotel website it was under renovation. The call center made no mention regarding the major renovations going on at this facility. So I reserved a room using points, this being a level 5, cost me 35K points for the night. Marriott had the gall to charge full boat for a night's stay, I looked up the $ cost and believed it was like $245/night. Keep in mind for that charge you received a room, no other amenities were available. The "Key Amenities" called out on their website were "Full service spa, Fitness center, Pool, Pet Friendly". Additionally neither the Bluefin Grille/Bar was open nor the Business Center. Had I been made aware of the major renovations going on I certainly would of opted for another hotel in Providence. Add to lack of anything available the front desk guy I spoke to the following morning had the chutzpah to tell me all of the extensive renovation was due to COVID and that was noted on the website. I assume he was referring to the standard COVID-19 note, "...some hotel facilities or services may not be available to guests for a period of time." I retorted that I understood some "amenities" like the pool maybe affected but in no way should that blanket warning cover state of disrepair of this hotel. It should of been clearly called out as "under renovation" and/or corporate reservation should have apprised me of the current conditions. His last remark really hit a nerve, something to the effect of doing what's best for the customer's safety. What BULLSHIT! Bottom line stay aware for near term and prior to reserving a room determine if renovations have been completed. read more

This is yet another Marriott property that is labeled Downtown, but is on the outskirts at best. This is a full service property that has seen plenty of guests based on the wear and tear. There is a small lobby which leads directly into a series of long walkways to different wings of the hotel. There are many shops and services including: spa, restaurant, lobby bar, boutique, Starbucks and swim shop. There are 2 decent sized pools (1 indoors, 1 outdoors) along with a larger fitness room. The restaurant is nothing special, but it is convenient. The rooms were outdated and could really use some help. I was in a spacious suite which was quite nice layout wise. There was a desk, TV area and full dining room table. The bathroom and bedroom were behind sliding doors for privacy. The pillows were flat and the bedding was not pleasant to sleep on. The furniture seemed like it was either purposely antique or at the end of its life cycle. I really couldn't tell the difference, but it needed to go. The concierge lounge was well stocked with beverages and they have a Starbucks cappuccino machine. There is an honor bar along with some appetizers and cheese in the evenings. I didn't stop in for breakfast, but that is also free for Gold and Platinum members. This is a fine hotel to stay at, but if you want to be downtown try the Renaissance. read more

We decided to stay another night in providence. We wanted a hotel with a central location. The Marriott offered that. Having stayed with the hotel chain before and enjoying it. We thought it would be a good choice. The hotel is in the middle of renovation, so it would seem people enjoy coming here and the hotel cares about people's comfort as well as the way their hotel appears. We stayed in the newly renovated hotel room. They gave us a room with 2 queen beds instead of a king. No big deal. The renovations appeared nice. However sloppy tile work in the bathroom. Having worked in floor covering for some years, I tend to notice things like that. You can tell it was done fast and cheap. So many they do not clear as much as they want you to believe? The bar and lounge was very lively until closing. We did not try the food. However, many people were eating and the restaurant did come recommend. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Always smiling and saying hello. The most disappointing part is that the walls a Paper thin. Normally noise does not bother us. However, you can hear very little thing on the whole floor. There happened to be many kids staying at the hotel. Which, again never bothers us when we stay out. However, 7am they started running and yelling up and down the hallways. Kids with be kids an I 100% am not upset with them having a good time. I wish the Marriott had invested a little more in the sound quality of their rooms. Overall, this is a decent, lively hotel with a great location for days and nights out in the city. The bed was clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and knowledgeable. In a pinch and if the price is right I would return. However, I would check other options first. Oh! There is an outdoor / indoor pool which is a really interesting idea. Tonight would mark my 30th night so far in 2017 within a Marriott property across all of North America - and Providence Marriott has been my worst experience (ever). I have been brand loyal but I am now set to start my 3 hour drive home where I know there is at least bed waiting for me. After repeated calls to the front desk to ask for updates, it was me who had to call every :30 to ask if a room was ready. The excuse was "technical difficulties" as to why there are no rooms. I write this review at 1am ... less than 30 minutes after I checked into what should NOT be called a Marriott property. I am sitting in room 527 of the Marriott Providence, RI (PVDRI). The room quality is comparable to a Days Inn. The air conditioning sounds like a truck is running through the room. I called the front desk and was told there are no other rooms available followed by "I don't know what to tell you". Here's what I'm telling you ... upon completion of this email, I am finding another hotel and posting a review to every possible site I can find. I'd love to see Bill Marriott walk into this room after a long day of work, with the temperature in the 80's and all humidity and attempt to sleep. I should have gotten the hint when I pulled into the parking lot to what could only be described as a scene out of a ghetto. A couple was fighting, others were "partying" ... walking in from the parking lot felt as if I was walking through the 42nd Street Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC. The good: the property makes the best of its situational geography with a quality restaurant, indoor/outdoor pool, patio, and exercise area for its patrons & guests. Staff are pleasant, cordial, and customer service-focused. Attitudinally, the associates I encountered were simply happy to help. Not having to pay for parking is a plus, and I found there was plenty of on site parking to opt from. They even have bike rentals available. The bad: At the end of the day, you're still in Providence my friend - which means you'll likely have breathtaking views of I-95, the Mobil station on Charles Street, or overlooks of the Amtrak corridor. I'd make use of their courtesy shuttle if I were you. The property has also stated that much needed accommodations upgrades are on the way. The verdict: If your means permit you, enroll in their rewards program and give then a try. Granted, it's on the higher end of most people's budgetary means. Yet considering you are also within a 15 minute walk of the Capitol building and Providence Place Mall, its benefits far outweigh any downside. My two cents. read more

I stayed at the Marriott Providence as a lecturer with about 40 people in attendance, plus several vendors that also stayed at the Marriott Providence - spent money in restaurants, the bar, rooms, etc. we paid for the conference room, food and beverages every day ...... we were treated like second class citizens- like we were in their way. Mid week they locked us out of our rooms and moved us because an engineer group was coming in that wanted that wing. Worst part, they lied and told us the rooms needed maintenance. At least they had one honest staff that told us we weren't important enough to keep our rooms. On last day of conference they entered our conference room and told us that they needed our room for someone else, yet our conference didn't end until 6pm. She even said it may have been their fault - duh! Horrible management! Unethical management! Our group was predominantly physicians and I hope they all remember the poor service we received. I travel and lecture physicians all over the world many times a year. My goal now is to never use Marriott again. Unprofessional, unethical ..... I will refrain from further describing what took place. I think locking us out of our rooms is illegal??? Horrible! read more

I am a Marriott Bonvoy Member and always choose to stay at Marriott....this will never be on my list again. Rooms are super outdated, even the TVs barely work. My rental car was keyed in the "more expensive/safer" parking lot. Front desk was not helpful when I asked if this was a common occurrence and what could be done? Just met with blank stares...the app also didn't work to order food or anything through it although this hotel is advertised as such. In general just a bad hotel. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. I just checked in to my room and I'm blown away. The 5th floor hallway smells like cigarette smoke. Rooms are VERY poorly updated. Linens and mattresses are appalling. Water stains on ceilings. AC unit makes strange sound. This place is an utter embarrassment to Marriott Hotels. I have no idea how this hotel meets Marriott's brand standards. Please get me out of here!! UPDATE 11/4/19: Upon further exploration, the common areas are decent. The bar, gym, and meeting areas are generally nice, but the rooms are definitely on par with Motel 6 or an older Holiday Inn. I cannot recommend this hotel. Here are the problems: 1. noise - it is near a very loud highway. Think terrible car noise all night. Plus sirens. The do not have the kind of glass in the windows that blocks noise. On top of that they ran leaf blowers outside the window starting around 8 am and were doing a construction project in the room next door. (I know it does not seem credible but it is true). The highway noise will make you insane. It was worst than the drilling which should tell you how bad it is. 2. run down and dingy. poor quality bedding. read more

The good, the bad & the ugly. Started off with a wonderful checkin process. Casey was fantastic and found a early check in room at 1130am ...room 522. As we dropped off our luggage we noticed how warm the room was.... 79 degrees. No problem, we'll crack the AC and head to the pool. As we head to the pool, Casey from the Front Desk text me to again welcome me and that if there is anything she can do to please reach out. Wow I think that is really so nice. When came back to the room 3 hours later, at 230p, the room is 77 degrees. I immediately call for service. The women on the phone is so nice and tells me she'll send someone immediately. We wait for 30 minutes and no one shows. I call Guest Service back and tell her that no has showed and she apologizes. Again, we wait but no one comes after 15 minutes, so this time I text Casey for help. She tells me she will call Engineering and she tells me she will have someone up immediately. No one comes and after 15 minutes, I text Casey back to seek help. After another 30 minutes.... 4p now I go to the Front Desk to get a manager involved. When I get there, the line to check in is huge, it's useless so head back to the room. By now, Maintenance is there and he is telling me that for the AC to be on the wall unit has to be on Cool - Auto. It can't be Cool- ON. It makes no sense but he leaves thinking he has fixed it. Nope.... after 30 minutes the room is still 79. I call to complain and when the maintenance man comes back he says he'll put in a new unit. We leave the room for 30 minutes or so and come back but the room temp is only at 77. We wait another 30 minutes, take showers to go to dinner and I've had enough because it is still at 77 degrees. I head downstairs to get a new room. Finally get a new room at 630p ... 4 hours after calling to complain. Guess what.... no big we are sorry just here is your new room key. Ok... now the pool. I guarantee you there are alot of local people there filling the chairs. The door to get into the pool area has no room key access. Anyone can come in. The pool is packed. We manage to grab a small table near the bar. I go to the bar to get some drinks because no waitress stops by to give us a menu or see if we'd like a drink. The bar tender is pleasant enough. However after about an hour , we think let's see what the menu has to offer. Now it's been over an hour since we sat at the table but not one waitress stops by. We finally grab a waitress and she gets us menus and tells us she'll send our waitress over. Our waitress; Sydney never stops by and again we get the other waitress. She is very apologetic and takes our order. Finally, Sydney brings us our drinks but you can tell she does not want to be working today. The food comes and it is actually very good. I have a Flatbread Margarita Pizza and my wife has some dip. Overall, not a very good experience. On our way back from dinner in Providence as walk to the hotel from the parking lot there are 3 cars together that are having what I would describe as a tailgating party. They have chips, drinks and smoking pot. Clearly some the locals who must use the Marriott Hotel Pool as their own Cabana Club. New room is nice and it's cool. The Providence Marriott is nice a looking hotel with some good points but I don't think we'll stay over again. read more

Ahh where to begin. The heater in my room was louder than my spouse's snoring and turns on every fifteen minutes. It's the grandfather clock you never wanted. The live TV selection also makes no sense. 70% of the channels are fuzzy and not in HD. I repeat: the majority of the channels are in analog mode. It's 2019. My car plays HD TV and it's from 2008...and it's a car. Also, how is HGTV not on the channel list? The point of hotels is to be able to watch HGTV, where am I gonna get my tiny house hunters fix now?? They are apparently renovating some of the rooms so my qualms might be baseless in a few months. But for now they stand. My suggestion: get back in your car and find a different hotel for tonight. Thank me later. read more

Awful... checked in on Monday with two little kids was given the worst room next to the 95 exit.. then the construction started at 9ish woke up one of my kids.. so, I went downstairs to complain.. there response was they had no clue of the construction schedule.. ( quick google search http://www.dot.ri.gov/travel/traveladvisories.php ) I had to sleep next to the window and was up all night! This place Rocks!!! The customer service is amazing and a huge shout out to Michael and Elizabeth who worked there! The rooms are clean, the pool area is amazing and I highly recommend staying here. I stayed from Friday- Monday while visiting a friend. Michael was very helpful and helped me rent a cabana for one of the days. He even came up to me the next day to see how everything was on his day off. I really appreciated it. Elizabeth was always checking to make sure we were okay and had everything we needed. No matter where we were when she saw us she wanted to make sure we were okay. I will be staying there again next month when I go back. read more

Booked 3 rooms here for the weekend. My in laws are killing huge cockroaches in their bathroom. My mother cannot walk up stairs and the elevator was not working. Front desk basically told us they didn't really even remotely care and she's just gonna have to walk up. Couldn't possibly have cared less at all and was the worst customer service worker I have ever had to deal with. This place is absolutely horrid. Every single thing in both hotel rooms that I have had here, are tired, worn, filthy and in desperate need of replacement. Nice staff, but even they can't make up for the fact that this property should not be a Marriott Hotel. This place is a glorified Motel 6. And it's **filthy**. I currently am staying in the second room because of swarms of unattended children on my floor running around like crazy. They checked in when I checked in and payed cash and brought along about seven or eight children that they would leave unattended in the hallways. I left the hotel around 1:30 and let the security and management know that they were children running around like crazy on my floor. I came back three and a half hours later only to see even more children hanging out in the hallway without any kind of supervision, screaming bloody murder. When I spoke to the staff about this they were very understanding and apologetic. I asked if they would move these guests, but the reality is they just wanted me to move instead. So I did. And the second room that I checked into after dragging my stuff to another floor to avoid the circus in the hallway was even more worn out and tired than the other. I didn't have the thin veil curtain in this room only a blackout curtain. The windows have face prints and hand prints. The toilet barely flushes. The arm chair in the room is disgusting and I'm not going to lay out my running gear for my race tomorrow on it because it's so filthy. This is, hands down, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Usually when I travel I like to stay in Marriott Courtyard or La Quinta Inn or something similar. This hotel makes those hotels look like the Four Seasons. Room service and housekeeping use the guest elevators instead of freight elevators, which makes waiting for an elevator on any of the 6 floors a 90 second waiting affair. Bathroom is FILTH. Check out my photo... some nice urine drippings down the front of the toilet. Probably been there for years. It's dog friendly and the staff was nice. It's not the staff's fault that this hotel is inadequate and inappropriate for the Marriott logo to be emblazoned on the wall. Most likely this is a franchised property that has gone without any sort of Standards or direction from corporate. I would absolutely avoid this hotel at all costs. Unfortunately I already paid for this hotel room through hotels.com, so it's not even like Marriott can even refund my money. Overall so disappointing and I regret ever saying here. read more

Marvelous Marriott! A beautiful building that looks like a old renovated factory in an off location that they make up for with many features: 1. A free shuttle to anywhere downtown 1.5 Free and ample self-parking 2. Amazin' spa like indoor- outdoor pool....this pool is RESORT like 3. Nice bar next to outdoor pool w/cushy seats & firepits 4. Great rooms w/super comphy bed 5. Breakfast buffet which was included in our rooms & was the best American buffet I have seen. 6. Super accomodating staff- Period 7. Salon with top of the line staff- Carla gave me a glam blow-out. 8. Al who checked in 5 years ago and never checked out- a true New England character- Happy 94 birthday. Room are old the service was slow. The front desk is under staffed. Tried calling the front desk 4 times over 3 hours from 7 am to 10 am.no answer. Went to the front desk the line was 5 people deep for the one clerk. Spoke to the manager, she is pregnant and said she cant work the front desk, she needs to rest. She would not bring other staff. So we have to be punished because she needs a pay check. This is not marriott service. I am all for babies, but i am paying top dollar on a buiness trip. I need basic service. The hotel called me to tell me that because the manager is pregnant there is nothing they can do. They cant be concerned with customer service. I am going to stay at th he Omni next month. read more

The outdoor pool and patio are fantastic. Day or night, it's a place you will want to be. The indoor bar is great too...Jillian runs that area like a rockstar...Elizabeth and her co workers pour a nice drink!! Many of their rooms are renovated and ours were one of them, very nice. The location to the downtown attractions/restaurants is close, but in my opinion not close enough to walk... They also have a spa and salon, they are lovely! read more

Location is okay. Close to downtown Providence, College Hill, and Federal Hill. We passed some not so great looking places to the west of us (i.e. adult stores) when we drove in. So that wasn't good. Something is not right with the room. I am waking up completely congested. I felt this way yesterday when I was in the room. I left and things cleared up. I get this way when I sleep in hotel rooms that have been smoked in or they have a similar issues. The bathroom has a drop ceiling with water appears to be wooden ceiling tiles. Odd! The mattress was uncomfortable. Usually I sleep well, but this mattress seemed like it needed to be replaced. Finally, this Marriott looks like it is in need of a makeover. The room and its decor seem outdated and/or overused and in need of maintenance. read more

Duck wings has a sweet glaze with a crusty texture with no meat (to be expected from a duck wing) and a peanut sauce for an extra flavor. Would suggest chicken since you can't taste the duck. Seafood scampi was full of seafood with noooooo seafood flavor at all which tells me it was all frozen seafood with no garlic or taste in the sauce. Do not recommend the scampi. BUT! Because I could not finish the meal, they were nice enough to cover the bill which ain't my point. I tasted my friends salmon that was tasty so I will skip the scampi and stick with something simple next time. My server was awesome and very sweet with the manager following up. So they do show pride in their customer satisfaction. It's tough finding good seafood in the US. I have travelled 43 states so any recommendations anywhere will be appreciated. read more

Pretty big property and plenty of free parking. Close to the Providence Place/Mall and the State House. Rooms were big and clean. Gym is a good size with the usual gym equipment. A few treadmill, free weights, leg machines and etc. Great inside and outside pool area. There seems to be a lot of family/kids at this hotel. I minus the 2 stars because the pool area could get pretty busy in the evening and it seems like only 1-2 waiter/bartender is working. I did walk up to the bar to order since it was quicker than waiting for someone to come to me. It's also super busy on the weekend when they have weddings or people who pay to use the pool. I end up going to Aqua inside since it was busy at the bistro outside. Aqua is pretty pricey! Not exactly a place I want to grab a quick bite before bed. Maybe nice for an evening dinner date. I'm here for work and need to get in and out of the hotel. I was on the 2nd floor near the back. The closest exit is the back door, but it didn't have a ramp to roll my luggage up/down. I had to carry it up the stairs or go all the way to the front to enter/exit. The parking in the front usually fills up quick, but there's plenty in the back. Therefore, I would like to use the back door entrance, but it was very inconvenient without a ramp. Otherwise, it was ok. This hotel might be good for a few days or a quick weekend. I end up booking another 2 weeks at a different Marriott that provided a better atmosphere for my business travel. read more

Hard mattress that had zero shock absorption. If your partner moves a finger, it will feel like a small earthquake. --Pillows were so lumpy that I spent more than a few minutes contemplating how it was even possible for pillows to get that way (since I was awake for chunks of time at night due to the mattress issues) --Terrible sickly-looking lighting in the room --World's slowest wifi --Cleaning of the room left a lot to be desired while we were there (i.e., I found a clump of hair on the bathroom floor that didn't belong to either of us) --Room seemed to always smell stale and be humid no matter what we did with the thermostat There are signs in the lobby indicating that they will be remodeling the rooms soon, so one can only hope some of these issues will be addressed during that process. Location is not downtown, and the rooms from the online photos are not the actual rooms. The hot tub literally sucked not hand into it forcing me to go to the local urgent care... the hotel doesn't really seem to care and I was told by management "our insurance team will reach out to you to cover all your medical expenses." Since writing the review, I have received a phone call from he direct or the front desk, Kasey Deseochers, who is doing a lot more than the hotels security team. Thanks for the help Kasey. read more

This hotel is under renovation and is drastically understaffed. The hotel is not clean and the pool area was a total mess. The staff told us that it is Marriott protocol to only clean the rooms every 5 days which is completely unacceptable. They advertise themselves as a "resort style" hotel which is such a grave misrepresentation. I was severely disappointed. I regret booking a 6 night stay here. read more

It is easy to impress when all is smooth. It is in times of adversity that you really see how good a company is. Had an issue with billing. This is a scenario that most top companies can solve in a few seconds. Marriott management had no autonomy to fix the problem. They said they had to contact corporate to fix the issue. They promised to reach back out to us in 48 hours. Fast forward a week later, I finally called Marriott back since I had heard nothing (they disconnected me twice and then transferred me to another customer - have to admit, that was impressive, didn't even know that was possible). I then called corporate direct and there was no record of our issue. They never escalated it! As I said, character of a company is measured when there are issues. This is a hotel chain who's competition is much more nimble and customer oriented. Moving forward, I will be partnering with one of those companies. read more

Well where do I start... Came here with the family for a night. We had concierge lounge service so upon arrival we went up to the 5th floor to check it out. The elevator in the c section was not working properly as the arrow up button was out of order. Upon entering the concierge lounge, the coffee machine was broken, the tables were dirty, there was only a few pieces of cheese and 2 mushrooms left...it was bare. We decided to leave there immediately and head to our room and then to catch a ride to the mall with the wonderful bell man Shaheim (unsure of spelling‍). Shaheim was amazing and was great. He even offered to pick us up after dinner past the time the van was scheduled to, very accommodating. Had a few drinks at the bar which was no problem until I ordered a espresso martini and the bartender dropped the espresso container on the floor and the tip of the container touched the wall and then she proceeded to make my drink with it without wiping it or anything!!! In the morning my daughter and I had to have my husband turn the shower on because the knob was so rusted and hard to move! Once going the shower was so hard and powerful that I felt it hosed off my black skin and made me light skinned‍‍ Three stars because the staff was friendly and they have a nice pool. WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE EVER AGAIN.... read more

I've always stuck with Marriott (244 nights in the past 8 years), and this might just be the worst Marriott I've ever stayed in and likely the reason I switch loyalty to another brand. If I wasn't having a good day, I'd likely just throw away the cost and stay somewhere else. Musty rooms, torn carpet, stains, mold, a gas station 100 feet from the window (which is like a basement apartment). This is apparently "the only room they have left" and this is for "Elite" members. SO disappointed by this stay. I travel a decent amount for fun and some for business and I get it- it's hard to find help right now and I tried so hard to be patient and understanding, but had to write this so people didn't have same experience as us- there are so so many wonderful hotels in Providence- Graduate/Biltmore for example. Stay there, not here! - First, hotel says 'newly renovated.' Very deceiving description. Beautiful newly renovated lobby, yes. Peeked into a room housekeeping was cleaning on second floor, which looked modern and renovated. We were on the 5th floor and our room was super dated and dirty in places. Ceiling tiles in room dirty and coming out. Also! 'downtown' is deceiving. You will need an Uber or to drive to get into the heart of downtown for restaurants, etc. It's not downtown! Though there is free parking which is great, having to drive in was not convenient. -We asked for adjoining rooms in reservation- when we checked in we were told if we wanted two queens in each room, we couldn't have adjoining. Then were told could do adjoining w/ one room two queens, one king. Then they couldn't seem to find it in system. Ignored us and made us wait. Check-in took about a half hour!! he guy at the front desk was rude and didn't acknowledge our wait. He just stood there looking at the computer and at papers as if we weren't even there. We get up to our room finally and he messed it up anyway- both rooms had a king size bed each. The phone in one room was broken. Tried calling front desk from other room and the phone rang and rang- kept calling, same. Finally get through and he put me on hold right away- after close to 10 min, we hung up. We decided to make the most of it and just stay- we were celebrating my cousin's bridal shower w/ our moms and so sharing a bed- not great! We were pressed for time to decorate room and couldn't wait. Then they told us finally after my aunt called that they had two queens adjoining on another floor after telling us that wasn't an option to have adjoining rooms w/ that set-up. Really? Front desk was rude again. We are platinum Marriott holders and it was never acknowledged let alone this is how you treat your loyal customers? -The toilet and shower were broken in my cousin's room- shower knob plain came off in her hand every time she tried to turn it on or adjust temp. Toilet ran all night and would only flush sometimes. We reported this and the fact that we didn't have enough towels- one towel in a room?!!! This room was over $200/night! REALLY?!!! -Decided to go into pool and hot tub. What a joke! SO DATED and the hot tub was tiny and extremely cloudy and dirty. -Elevator rickety and shuddering- worried it would break with us in it. -Final day, called front desk to ask what time check out was and asked for extended - woman was rude "best I can do is noon" then hung up! So disappointed that we chose this hotel for my cousin's celebration. It put a damper on the whole experience. They have a lot to do to get up to Marriott's standards. read more

There is a Mobil gas station in front of the hotel so you can pump your gas in your rental car and gooooo. This hotel is just okay. It's old and very confusing. Looks small outside but inside is large and confusing like a maze. They have a great pool area to lounge or relax in. Not sure if they serve food since I came here for drinks on a few nights. There are 3 pools! One is indoors. Great for kiddos. read more
