Right from the start, this place is top notch. The entrance is in the atrium area of one of the Summit City's newest and finest buildings and is always staffed by welcoming, courteous hostesses. Immediately upon passing through the entrance, you step into an interior dining space that is elegant, contemporary, and sophisticated (see pic). It possesses the aesthetic of a big-city restaurant in style and decor. The serving staff is exemplary. Each dining experience we've had very friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable servers. From good food recommendations to keeping our water glasses filled, they've taken excellent card of us and made our dining experience very enjoyable. The selection of beverages is very good with a variety of mixed drinks, wines, and beers to suit any preference. I had a draft Sierra Nevada Narwal Stout and it was great (see pic). But the food. The FOOD. Incredible. Proximo's cuisine has a Spanish flair, with spicy flavors accompanying many menu items. On our last visit, we ordered the Shrimp Sope appetizer, which was spicily delicious and big enough for two people to share as an entree. I ordered the Pork Chop and it was fantastic (see pic). It was huge, perfectly cooked, had a delicious sweet sauce, and the sides were perfectly matched. My wife had the Seafood Paella and it was also delicious (see pic). It had a lot of shrimp and small scallops and came on a huge bed of Spanish rice. Proximo is one of the premier restaurants in Fort Wayne. I wanted this place to blow me away! It did not. Everything was good. But it was just good. I always order shrimp and grits anytime I see it on a menu. I was hoping these would blow my mind. They did not. They were just okay. Not a ton of flavor to the shrimp. Grits were a touch watery. The shrimp sope had a lot of flavor. Our server was lovely. My husband and I ate at Próximo for brunch on May 28,2023 and ate two different meals. We did not taste each others meals. Within minutes, I developed hives on the face for the first time in my life. Within 15 minutes of leaving, my husband had explosive diarrhea Within 20, I also had explosive diarrhea before going into anaphylactic shock. I ended up in urgent care due to a reaction likely caused by parasites in the crab of the crab chilaquiles. I'd never before experienced a shellfish allergy and eat crab and shrimp often in my home state, Oregon. When shellfish is not transported and kept well, it can develop parasites called Anisakis and I believe this caused my allergic reaction. Stay far away from this restaurant. read more

My family and I had an excellent experience at Proximo! I am pleased to say the staff, the ambiance, the food, the location, all of it exceeded my expectations. Our server was so courteous and efficient. She went over the menu options and gave her recommendations. The food arrived timely and was hot and ready. Their food is seasoned well, I'd caution against adding anything to it u tip after you've tasted it. I loved the entire experience. I was prepared to not be pleased on one area or another, that's just common. That was certainly not the case here. This is a beautiful date night or family night spot! I had the pancakes, which came with a delicious side of bacon and eggs. The pancakes were some of the fluffiest I've ever had. The stack of 3 met all of my expectations. I liked my wife and daughters dishes, but I came in for the Seafood Paella that was recommended to me by the Yelp App. The dish looked fantastic in the photo presented on Yelp. Mine came out looking the same, but the all the seafood was very bland. The bed of saffron rice below the seafood tasted good. The seafood was missing any sort of flavor. The seafood looked and tasted like it was steamed with no seasoning. The shrimp and scallops would have even been better if they had grill marks on it. My daughter got the Arbol Ribeye. We took half of it home and it was fantastic as a leftover. My wife got the Guava Glazed Salmon. I haven't tried the salmon but she liked it and I tasted her jalapeno rice and it was good. read more

Nice downtown place. Brunch is the best time to go in my personal opinion. They have a few different mimosa options, along with food options. Highly recommend going in the summer so you can sit outside. This particular time we went on a quiet, slow night which was nice. Our waiter was very attentive and explained things thoroughly. He had knowledge of the menu, as well as how the food's flavors blended together. Options for vegans, vegetarians, and pescatarians. This is one of our favorite places for dinner. Proximo has a nice ambiance with great service and a variety of delicious and flavorful options. We started with guacamole and sweet and spicy plantains for appetizers. We have had the guacamole before and it was delicious as always but the sweet and spicy plantains were wonderful. This is now one of my favorites. For the entrees, I got my usual Cilantro Chicken Pesto, I wanted to try something different but this is so good I decided to go with it again. My husband got the Dry Aged Pork Chop served over Mexican street corn risotto and sweet maple, crispy, Brussels sprouts, tossed with caramelized onions. This dish was really flavorful and delicious as well. This is a large bone-in pork chop and very thick. We got dessert to take home. We ordered Chocolate cake with a Mexican spiced chocolate sauce but we had it on the side, and the Torta de Mil hojas. I will include photos. The desserts were wonderful as well. I was going to be driving through Fort Wayne, and asked a friend to pick a spot for an upcoming Sunday brunch. With no hesitation he said Proximo and made reservations. Today I drove in from Michigan and met up at Proximo. After we were seated, my friend says to me, "we are going to split an order of banana bread French toast before your meal. Trust me." I looked all over the menu and realize he was ordering this French toast off-menu. We both also ordered the steak and eggs. The French toast came out and I was beyond blown away. I've had banana bread French toast before but this was almost indescribable. The french toast was very dense and rich. The mixed berries were amazing. The steak and eggs was also amazing, perfectly cooked ribeye with garlic butter, perfectly fried potatoes and 2 sunny side up eggs. I couldn't have dreamed a better brunch! I don't frequent the high-end restaurant scene much, but wanted to try this one. It was a great trip. The shrimp-n-grits was great. Shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the flavor combo was excellent. Decor is nice, environment was great, and my old fashioned was spot-on. This restaurant serves Latin American cuisine. Proximo has both indoor and outdoor seating. I find that parking can be a problem downtown. There is a parking lot across the street however when no one is in the booth it's cash only. Proximo does take reservations. We went on a week day and had no problem getting a seat. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. For our appetizer, we ordered the Baked Empanada, which came with two different types of sauces, which were good. All entrees include either a Mixed Greens salad, Caesar salad or Chicken Tortilla soup. My other half ordered, Seafood Paella, which includes saffron rice, lobster tail,clams and shrimp. ($33) I ordered the Cilantro Pesto, with came with grilled chicken. The Pesto also came with pecans on top, which I requested to not include. The portions sizes were large, as we had to get our food boxed up. After enjoying our appetizer, soup or salad we waited a while for the entrees. It turned out that the kitchen staff just wanted to make sure that I did not have an allergy to nuts, since I had requested my meal without any pecans. Attended with our one year old and five year old for brunch after church on Sunday. Though they were booked inside, we were able to get a table outside after a short wait. They had a sling for the baby's carrier and a special drawing device for my five year old. We went here for Mother's Day brunch for the first time, and to sum it up we walked away highly impressed. It's an elevated take on familiar Latin food and the atmosphere, quality, and presentation of the food really reflects that. My sister and I ordered cocktails; mine was a cranberry mimosa and tasted like you would expect-sweet and fruity, and my sister ordered the Minero Mezcal Piquillo Maria, and she said it was a delicious spicy drink. My mom ordered the French toast and said it was the best French toast she has ever had, no hyperbole. My dad, who is very picky about Mexican food, ordered the street tacos and was a big fan, said the meat was really good. My sister ordered the carnita Benedict and I ordered the brunchiladas and we swapped half of our dishes. The Benedict was really tasty, the poached egg was creamy and the cornbread was moist and flavorful. We both could have used a bit more hollandaise sauce, though. My brunchiladas were good as well, the filling was spiced well and the crispy onions went well with everything. The pork on both of our dishes could have used some more juice or sauce, but ultimately it did not take away from the quality of the dishes. We recently moved to Fort Wayne and have been exploring the surprisingly great restaurant scene- everyone recommended Proximo! Our first visit was a mixed bag- my chilaquiles was served cold, but it was promptly remade-warm the second time but not hot! All I can think is some of the individual ingredients were not hot when assembled?- anyway, I said that the second try was fine. My husband loved his garbage skillet. Because the staff was so friendly (sit at the bar!!) and the manager was so attentive to my complaint (she comped my meal even though I asked her not to), we wanted to return. The second visit did not disappoint!! The shrimp and grits are truly spectacular! Spicy and flavorful-I will be hard pressed to ever order anything else at Proximo brunch! Proximo is a must try restaurant. We visit every time we're in Fort Wayne. This time we went for breakfast and I ordered the breakfast tacos I chose three different meats chicken chorizo and ham. These were phenomenal.! My boyfriend ordered a mimosa and the French toast. I was kind of jealous that I had not ordered the French toast because it looked amazing but I'm more of a savory breakfast kind a girl. We went on a Sunday morning around 9 AM and were able to get in right away although there was a wait for larger parties we only had two in our party. Water glass was never empty and service was prompt and friendly. I wish there was more of a selection for coffees maybe something like a Mexican mocha. I cut and no magic happened. They were sorely overcooked. i would have taken a pic but it was a business lunch and it seemed inappropriate since I did sneak one when it was served. They are also 100% serious when the menu tells you if there is a breakfast fav you want that isn't listed just ask. While in Fort Wayne for work, I was recommended to attend Proximo. As a upscale Latin restaurant, it was a beautiful floor plan with booths, tables, and a bar. I had a nice view to the look at the main streets. First, the menu was well laid out. For my appetizer, I had the Columbian Ceviche. In it was shrimp, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, Serrano peppers in a lime-coconut marinade. The magic touch was the popcorn. I will say you have to eat it quick as the popcorn will get soggy. For my entree, I had the Scallop Diablo. The scallops were seared perfectly with a white center. Scallops have a small window of being cooking perfectly so having the right sear was key.
