Incredible brunch. Dinner is sometimes a hit, sometimes just ok. The Cuban chicken is full of flavor and texture. Always good. Tonight I got the Jamaican jerk tuna and felt it did not live up to the description. The tuna itself was great. The coconut rice, however, was far from creamy (it was basically white rice that had been cooked in coconut milk instead of water for a slight coconut flavor) and the apple mango slaw was closer to a pile of pickled apples and mangoes. Overall the dish really needed something to pull it together ... maybe it needed a fat and my guess is that said fat was supposed to be found in the coconut rice, but it just didn't happen tonight. We love this restaurant. The service is always amazing! Erin was our server and really explained us all the different options as well as some of the mixed drinks. The Oaxaca old fashioned was a great choice if you care for mezcal or tequila drinks. I had the Chicken Tortilla Soup and it was delicious, loved it! Amazing flavor and combination of sour cream with queso. The halibut was nicely cooked and served with the tomato and cucumber salad. Próximo has a lot of seating and is very open. We had a nice view of the bar and kitchen. My family and I were on the hunt for mimosa flights and Próximo supplied! We each got a mimosa flight and there were plenty of flavor options. I got the traditional, pineapple, and margarita. Love me how they were presented and were all super yummy! I was craving a breakfast that I don't have the skill set to make and knew exactly the carnitas benedict was the perfect meal. I ordered the special all of the day and the food was delicious! It was a spicy pasta and chorizo type of dish. I let the waitress pick my drink I told her I wanted something sweet and she recommended a lemon drop or a strawberry lemon drop. I received the strawberry one. It was ok, but not that sweet. I wouldn't order it again, but it was NOT bad.The ambiance is sort of a romantic open vibe. Another fantastic experience at Proximo, this place knocks it out of the park every time we go! The staff is so helpful and courteous and they go out of their way to make you happy and absolutely love your experience. This is a great restaurant to take your special someone for a date and there is no dress code but definitely an upscale/trendy kind of place. The dining room has plenty of seating with booths and tables and there is also a lot of natural light coming in from the many windows along the perimeter of the building. Or you can choose to sit outside on the patio and people watch under the canopy (be aware that it can be noisy during events or with traffic at times). We lived in FW until 2020 and had visited Pròximo frequently before moving to North Carolina. We recently came back to FW for a visit and made it a point to stop in for dinner at Próximo, we both had the Elote for an appetizer, the Vegan Mushroom Barbacoa for our main course, and for dessert we called ahead (a few days in advance) and requested a vegan key lime tart. Everything was delicious and full of flavor! ¡Que sabor! They will do special requests being a scratch kitchen, just give them a call in advance and let them know your dietary restrictions or requests and they will do their best to accommodate you, which they have always done for us. An absolute tango for your tastebuds! We stopped in for our last dinner in town before heading home and are so glad we did. We started with ceviche and house-made tortillas. Not one who normally likes ceviche, the Hubbs decided that THIS ceviche was delicious enough to eat half...and some of my half. I was not amused. He decided to skip the salad and order a small chicken tortilla soup. He practically licked it clean. I couldn't decide between salads, so I asked our server to pick for me. He chose the mixed green salad and I'm so glad he did! It was filled with fresh, crisp veggies, black beans, and had the creamiest jalapeño dressing I've ever encountered. This salad is a winner! I decided to go with the cilantro chicken pesto. As a pesto fan, I really enjoyed the cilantro and lime flavors added for that Peruvian flavor. We decided to have an early dinner before a show at the Embassy Theater. For a starter, we ordered the carnitas tostadas and they are delicious and could easily be a meal in themselves. (Lunch?). For our main courses, we got the seafood paella and scallops and squid ink risotto. Both plates came out steaming out and were full of flavor. Our favorite of the two was hands down the risotto. Dessert was the churros with a caramel and spicy chocolate dipping sauces. Very tasty way to end our meal. Just wish the caramel was a bit thicker but wouldn't stop me from ordering again. Since we are in town visiting from NC. We have stopped 4 times already at one of our favorite places in town Proximo. The breakfast menu is also vegan friendly. You can substitute any meat options for Tofu and or sofritas. Being a scratch kitchen, it allows the chef and cooking staff to accommodate dietary restrictions. This time we ordered the Chilaquiles did half and half of the Tofu and sofritas with a side of extra chilaquiles sauce. This meal is very filling and full of flavor! One of our top choices for breakfast. The service is always very pleasant and they know the menu well enough to make suggestions for the substitutions. I've always wanted to try Proximo as I've heard great things. So I decided to spoil myself and order it for the first time. I ordered shrimp & grits, street corn risotto, tomato soup, and hibiscus iced tea. The shrimp & grits is hands down one of the best things I've ever eaten. Generous amount of shrimp, balanced spices, layers of flavor, and great texture. They even made it without the chorizo or bacon as I'm pescatarian. The street corn risotto was perfectly cooked with a lovely amount of cheese and just enough salt for a perfect bite. The tomato soup was interesting. It had more of a pizza sauce texture but it was layered great with flavor and the addition of fresh cilantro & cheese on top made it a great bite. The portions were perfect. You can tell that the chefs put their all into their work and have a passion for cooking. This has been the best meal I've had in a long time and that's saying a lot as I'm critical when it comes to food. This was supposed to be a one time spoil myself order but now I plan to go into the actual restaurant in the future for the full experience. TL;DR: Had really high hopes based on Thai pictures but it didn't live up to the expectation. Probably wouldn't come again. Food: The pictures of the food look great, when the food came out it looked great, but unfortunately the flavors just weren't there. Everything was cooked well, just an overall a lack of seasonings from the chicken down even the potatoes. The only flavor that seemed to come through was from the sauce on top. Had the duck tamale, Cuban chicken, and mole barbecue sandwich, all of which really only needed more flavor. The single most flavor item was the fried plantains, which are a favorite of mine. Cost: This would have been a 3 star, but the high prices vs portion size dropped it down an extra star. I can generally expect to get 2 meals from an entree when I go out. Even with splitting an appetizer, I finished my entree and was still hungry afterwards. $60+ for an appetizer and two entrees with no drinks. Service: No problems at all with service. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Overall: This was a frustrating review to write as the food was cooked very well, but some attention needs to be paid to the amount of seasoning (authentic seasonings, please don't just add extra salt) used in all the dishes. I ordered the Filet Mignon for dinner, and while spendy, I have no regrets! This Filet is large enough you could split it with someone but so delicious you won't want to. I have eaten at this restaurant twice now, and both of my experiences have been outstanding. I am an adventurous eater, and I love the many unusual options on this menu. I've sampled unique enchiladas, patatas bravado, eggs Benedict, and delicious sandwiches. The service is outstanding, and the food is always hot and flavorful. Our waters were always full and the table was always cleaned off. The waiter new the menu well and answered all of our questions. The brunchiladas were amazing and every bite was full of flavor. It all tasted fresh and not processed. The pancakes were the fluffiest I had in awhile and had great flavor. I got carry out for my husband. He got the street tacos and he said they were amazing! I highly recommend this place for brunch, lunch or dinner! Make sure to call a few days ahead though because brunch gets busy. If you do not make a reservation for brunch there is a chance for a 45 minute to an hour wait. Hope you all get to experience this place too! read more

My husband and I ate at Próximo for brunch on May 28,2023 and ate two different meals. We did not taste each others meals. Within minutes, I developed hives on the face for the first time in my life. Within 15 minutes of leaving, my husband had explosive diarrhea Within 20, I also had explosive diarrhea before going into anaphylactic shock. I ended up in urgent care due to a reaction likely caused by parasites in the crab of the crab chilaquiles. I'd never before experienced a shellfish allergy and eat crab and shrimp often in my home state, Oregon. When shellfish is not transported and kept well, it can develop parasites called Anisakis and I believe this caused my allergic reaction. Stay far away from this restaurant. read more

I liked my wife and daughters dishes, but I came in for the Seafood Paella that was recommended to me by the Yelp App. The dish looked fantastic in the photo presented on Yelp. Mine came out looking the same, but the all the seafood was very bland. The bed of saffron rice below the seafood tasted good. The seafood was missing any sort of flavor. The seafood looked and tasted like it was steamed with no seasoning. The shrimp and scallops would have even been better if they had grill marks on it. My daughter got the Arbol Ribeye. We took half of it home and it was fantastic as a leftover. My wife got the Guava Glazed Salmon. I haven't tried the salmon but she liked it and I tasted her jalapeno rice and it was good. read more

Nice downtown place. Brunch is the best time to go in my personal opinion. They have a few different mimosa options, along with food options. Highly recommend going in the summer so you can sit outside. This particular time we went on a quiet, slow night which was nice. Our waiter was very attentive and explained things thoroughly. He had knowledge of the menu, as well as how the food's flavors blended together. Options for vegans, vegetarians, and pescatarians.
