I have stopped seeing movies at other theaters because the experience here is just so much better. The recliners are comfy, the theaters are clean, and the staff are friendly. The food and drinks are a bit overpriced if ordered from your seats. But you can't catch a week day matinee for $10. All in all, very with it. I had a appointment and it was rescheduled and thought since I'm in the area what else is there to do...I went to the Pruneyard Cinemas. I have always wanted to go but always busy working or with family. It was the morning so I decided to go in. The cinemas are connected to Cedar Room. There you can buy drinks and bring it to the movies. There is a kiosk on the side to get your own tickets through a credit card if not and paying in cash you can go towards the refreshment line and pay in cash. Also you can buy your refreshment there before the movie or when you get settled in a dark maze to your theater room you can sit in their comfy lazy chairs that expands out with a side table with menus. All you have to do is press the side button to call in a waiter. I'm hey serve you before and during the theater during the right time. They ask for your credit card and at the end of the movie bring your bill to sign. It's actually cool to be waited on at the movies especially during this summer time. You can order snacks to entrees to bar drinks. I highly recommend coming here! Date nights they have a dinner with the movie. Look into it! read more

AWESOME experience! What's better than lounging in luxury seats during a movie? Getting served restaurant style during a movie! Got my gf and I tickets to see Detective Pikachu on our trip to Campbell at Pruneyard Cinemas and it was a great date night experience! We were able to put in our order before the movie starting and got the food just in time so we could eat without really interrupting the movie. We had ordered a chicken bacon sandwich and a sesame rice noodle dish which were great BUT what we enjoyed the most was the fried calamari! It was so delicious and light! I do wanna say that it is on the pricier side and there is an automatic 20% gratuity included BUT it is the price you pay for a more luxury service! read more

One of the nicer theaters I've been to! Parking around the Pruneyard can get a little crazy. I'd suggest going to the theater earlier just in case! If you are early, they have an amazing full bar inside the theater called The Cedar Room! Friendly bartenders and great cocktails. And if you're hungry they serve real meals - compared to the average popcorn and candy! The reclining seats here are pretty awesome bc they almost go all the way back AND they have servers that deliver food and drinks straight to your seat. Game changer for sure! Prices are a little steep - but you pay for the experience of a luxury theater. ~ $15+ per person (movie alone) ~ $25+ per person (movie, food, drinks) Btw, there is a 20% gratuity charge if you order from your seat, which goes straight to the servers! Really nice theater to watch a movie! It is located in the Pruneyard so parking can be a little crazy, so I would advise getting there early. The best part about this theater is the food! They serve your typical movie theater concessions plus many restaurant food items! There are menus at your seats in the theater and all you have to do is press the button and a server will come and take your order. There are all sorts of things you can order from calamari, salads, burgers, fries plus beer and wine. The menu looked delish. Although, I didn't end up ordering anything last time I was there. From the looks of it, the servers were really fast at taking orders and were not distracting to the movie at all. The movie theater itself was really clean. There were no messy popcorn spills or sticky floors at all. Everything looked literally pristine. They also have nice big reclining chairs and they are so comfy! The theater is small and gives an intimate feel so it is perfect for date night. My boyfriend and I saw "Fighting with my Family" a couple of weeks ago and it was such a great experience! My fiancé and I were super excited to try Pruneyard Cinemas as we are new to the area and it reminded us a lot of a chain we had back home, Alamo drafthouse. We bought tickets to Cruella at 8:30pm and were thrilled to be able to see a movie out again as we are both vaccinated. Everything was going great; the seats were comfy, the popcorn was good. Only problem is that an hour and a half into the two and a half hour movie we asked to order another round of drinks and were told everything was closed. This was a complete bummer as we were thoroughly enjoying the movie and the theater. For the rest of the movie we were left feeling thirsty and regretting seeing the movie out as we could have access to snacks and drinks if we were watching it in the comfort of our own house. Would have been a 5 star experience but if concessions were going to close halfway through the movie that should have been acknowledged on the ticket. I understand that with Covid things are different and that is ok but next time I would ask that management do a last call or at least inform the customers that concessions will close at 10pm. We could have prepared accordingly. read more

I honestly think this is my favorite theater in the SJ area at the moment! It's not the bigger theater but I say it's the perfect spot for date night if you were interested. Upon entering you purchase your tickets at the kiosk where you choose your seats. Now you have time to kill before your movie instead of trying to fight over the best seats, which is great (if you left the kids at home!) because there's a bar attached to the theatre called Cedar Bar(nicely crafted drinks here!) Also If you forgot to get a meal before the movie then you're in luck because they have a full menu available at your seat. Fully operated service throughout the movie- you can order a snack, drink (alcoholic included) or full on meal which I think is worth paying the 20% gratuity because the workers some times have to shuffle through the dark(some times) just to get to you. I had an amazing time at this movie theater! The seats recline and are very comfortable. The food is pricy but very tasty. We got the loaded nachos and they were 18 dollars. They also charge a 20 percent service fee for bringing it to you and taking your order while you are seated in the theater. The large popcorn gives free refills and is very tasty and flavorful. The large drinks also give free refills, however they are pretty pricey. Overall I think this is a great theater but I don't think I'll come too often because of how pricy it is. read more

I loved my time here. Went to see Captain Marvel and had the Reel Burger with a glass of wine during the movie. The burger was delicious. The seating was very comfortable. Temperature and atmosphere was perfect, different from any of the other theaters in the area: no rude people yapping or texting on their cell phones, or kids screaming out during the movie. I was able to relax and get into the story. It made the movie that much better. For quite a bit more luxury, it's the same price as the other theaters and it's a bargain. This place is tucked inside of Pruneyard and quickly becoming one of my favorite theaters. They have a very simple ticketing system, quick concession service, and great theater and seating with recliners. You can even order food and drinks which is cool. Oh, it's also connected to a pretty cool bar called the Cedar Room. Good restaurant options in the plaza as well for before or after movies. Parking can be tough but definitely one of the better ones to watch a movie at. read more

I live about a 2 minute walk from the Pruneyard Cinemas, so needless to say it's in a convenient location and I would love to attend the movies near my home more often. All movies are advertised to have closed captions available. I have attended several theaters around the Bay Area with excellent caption services. We went in November and when we asked for captions we were given a pair of caption glasses. Unfortunately, the glasses didn't work. When we went to the help desk, they took the glasses and said they'd bring another pair back shortly. They never brought another pair. We decided to try again last weekend and the same thing happened. We had to leave. We tried calling the cinema yesterday and had to leave a message with a call back number asking what their plan was for the captions as we live so close and we'd love to utilize the cinema nearby, however we never received a response. Accessibility does not seem to be their priority. We plan to spend our time at other theaters in the area that we know have reliable caption services. read more

Um, watching Captain Marvel here was like watching a movie in the most relaxing environment ever! The comfy seats recline! Need I say any more? Didn't get a chance to order any food because we ate before we came, so we shared some popcorn. I think all movie theaters needs to serve the popcorn they make here because it was delicious! The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because they never came to take our order - even after pressing the button quite a few times. My husband and I have been to the cinemas twice now. Our first experience was amazing. We had the nachos and the service in theater was really a treat for us. However our second experience will definitely be our last. We started in the cafe/bar and waited so long for service that I ended up asking the bartender to be served. I usually don't mind when this happens and am understanding that they can be busy taking care if everyone...but it seemed more like they didn't care to notice and greet us and kept going on about their business. It was rude. Our food/drink experience. So we ordered a Long Island and one of the cocktails from the menu. They both were horrible and actually difficult to drink. For food we ordered the nachos again and a chicken and kale salad. When the food came to the bar it sat for 5 minutes (in view of us) we watched the bartender completely unaware that our food had arrived and had to AGAIN ask for them to serve us. The nachos came out completely cold, the meat and cheese weren't even room temp, they were cold. The chicken in the salad was dry and hard, like it was microwaved. We sent BOTH our meal back which we have never done before. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the servers/bartenders were very understanding when we sent our food back and even covered some of our drinks to help us have a better experience. Our movie theater experience. We decided as we sat down to try again and hopefully have a better meal because we were starving. We ordered the quesadilla and tacos. The tacos came out cold and dry. And thank goodness the quesadilla came out hot because at that point we were starving and frustrated. This experience is enough for us to not recommend any food or drinks at the cinemas. Only gave it 3 stars for two reasons: first, the food is not great here. I got the Korean Chicken Bowl, and it was very salty and not worth the $18 I paid (plus 20% service fee). Second, the servers keep passing in front of you as you're watching the movie - so annoying! But if you don't mind those things, then it's a neat, luxurious experience to be relaxing in a lounger watching a film, then having dinner served directly to you. Servers were prompt and polite. I went here for the first time ever, last weekend. First off, the seats are so comfy and roomy, and I enjoyed ordering a meal at my seat (it was delicious). But this review is mainly about the customer service. I had bought 2 tickets online, planning to go on Saturday, but accidentally got them for Friday. I hadn't realized this until I showed up on Saturday, and other people were in our assigned seats. I went back to the person checking tickets, explained my mistake, and he referred me to the theater manager. I wasn't there to argue since I did make a mistake after all, but I was hoping I could at least still see the movie, if possible. Without any trouble at all, the manager printed us new tickets and we ended up getting new seats, and made it in time before the movie started. For a first time experience, this was beyond my expectations with customer service. I don't even think I deserved it really, but I'm thankful they cared enough to do something. The worst thing that I can say about Pruneyard Cinemas is that it's getting insanely popular. Unlike 2017/'18 (when you had your choice of nearly any seat in the house), word is out, people are flocking from all over the South Bay to come to this theater, and it's starting to get packed on nearly every showing. As such: make sure you book your seats ahead of time - otherwise, you'll run the risk of sitting near the aisles. Aside from that, there's not a single thing that I can think to complain about. Even the aisle seats have a great view of the screen, with terrific acoustics, and comfortable chairs. The theater has been totally revamped, for the optimum movie-going experience, complete with retractable lay-down seats, a service button within arm's reach, and an in-house restaurant that caters actual food directly to your recliner (aka, no more missing out on key plot points when you need a soda or popcorn refill). Pruneyard Cinemas serves exquisite food from the Cedar Room, as well as a wide selection of wine, spirits, and beer. I'm a huge fan of the anchiote chicken nachos, the sausage & peppers pasta, the classic burger, and the soft street tacos. Back in 2018, they had a lackluster Banh Mi sandwich on the menu (which, in all honesty, was the only sub-par thing I'd ever eaten there), but that item is now gone, as they've fully revamped their menu for 2019. Because of their Cedar Room selection, viewers are no longer anchored down to that awful AMC movie selection of stale popcorn, enormously expensive sodas, and God-awful excuses for pizza and nachos (both of which come right out of the microwave). Odds are, you don't need me to endorse this place (since it's already blowing up with positive reviews), but in case you're still on the fence, let me just confirm: this is the greatest movie-going experience you're ever going to find in the South Bay. I liked going to the Pruneyard for a movie pre-renovation. It was low key and had a divey charm. True story, I was getting napkins and extra butter for my popcorn and glanced at the person next to me; It was Steve Wozniak. This has nothing to do with my review, but it was a cool celebrity sighting. Anyway, what the theater lost in old school familiarity it more than made up for it in comfort and overall experience. I used to have to drag my husband to the movies, now he's the one who suggests we go out and won't go anywhere else. Your seat is pre-assigned, which I love. No last minute issues of being stuck on the front row or separated. The chairs are big, comfy and lean back so far back they are essentially lazy boy recliners. Because of the size of the chairs there are fewer seats, so it never feels crowded. Every chair has a tray table for your food, which you order from waitstaff who come to your seat. And I'm not talking about hot dogs and nachos with processed cheese. This is all trendy New American style cuisine from the attached bar, The Cedar Room. There is also a small concession stand for popcorn and candy. The food and drinks are a little pricey, but in line with the other resturant options at the Pruneyard. What keeps my review at a 4.5 is the concession stand. All of the other elements of this theater are a cut above the rest, but options here are pretty basic and limited variety of candy, soda, and no Icees. I imagine the rational is that they have food, but that doesn't necessarily work for kids, and sometimes you just want traditional movie snacks. What would elevate it is having the option to fill a bag of favorites from bulk bins, like AMC Oakridge, hint hint. read more

This is my first time in this theatre. I was told that it will be an experience and indeed it was. We watched the 6:20 pm mission impossible today July 31. We were happy with b7,8,9 seats. So far so good! Then we ordered dinner... then it never came... then the seat beside us got our order then when we complained... it was just a sorry we didn't know! So.... what a unique experience! My husband and I went to the 2:45 showing of Ford vs Ferrari on Saturday. Theatre was awesome seats were very comfortable theatre was clean But I don't think we will go back unless you have a "no food service" section. There were three people in our row that ordered food and drinks several times each time they turned the flashlight on their phone to see the menu. The man next to my husband ordered 4 different times had problems with the meal called them back we counted waiters and waitress walking in front of us 26 times. To finish it off be4 the movie ended he ordered a sundae. The entire ordeal was annoying and I would only sit in a no food section. I'm officially ruined for any other movie experience. We normally go to Century, but I think that's going to have to change now. I love that their seats recline almost all the way back and I love the personal tray. Service is really great, the servers are really attentive and get to you pretty much as soon as you hit the button. Boy. I really wanted to like this place. This review is for 2 scenarios that made this place strike out for me. Went to a Saturday showing of Ocean's 8. The sound broke out about 45 minutes into the movie and several people went to alert the staff. The movie continued for 10 minutes with background music still working but no voice from the actors. Then the ATV guy stopped the movie and tried to fix the sound. The first thing was, no one came to give notice as to what was going on. Once the sound was fixed, they continued where he had paused it. And the movie went on for 5 minutes before someone probably went back out and asked them to rewind. So then they rewound it 10 minutes. Another 30 - 40 minutes later, the sound broke out again. And another 5 - 10 minutes went by until finally the lady who I am assuming is the manager spoke out from the back and said, "Sorry folks. We don't know what happened but we're working on the issue. I don't know what to tell ya.. but at least it's cool in here." Then she proceeded to say, "Oh and I have re-admit passes for people who want it." And stood in the hall without going to the center of the room. Eventually, the sound didn't work and they said that the theater would be closed while they try to access the problem. The manager stood there, not really offering her re-admit passes.. and truthfully I'm not sure if people knew that she worked there because she was dressed in normal clothes. My group got a refund and then other people behind us did the same thing. Cut to the next day, I realized my wallet has been misplaced and the last time I could recall it was inside the movie theater. I tried to call and the first gentleman who picked up was SOOO kind. He said they didn't get any wallets in their lost and found. A few hours later, I really was 95% certain that it was under the seat and thought, "What if they didn't clean that theater since the sound / projector broke?" I tried to call back and was met with this sassy girl and said, "we already said that we didn't find any wallets..." So I responded with, "Right. I know but I wanted to let you know that I was in the theater that broke down yesterday so I was wondering if it got cleaned?" She said, "All of our theaters get cleaned... daily..." We hung up. And I went to the theater myself. Went down to the seat, opened up the recliner and sure enough.. there was my wallet. Thanks but no thanks for the memories Pruneyard Cinemas. read more

Right Idea, Poor execution. theaters are small, not a problem except the front seats are too close and the seats are really thin - smallest I've sat in one of these kinds of theaters. guilty of retrofitting without consideration of the user experience. Most expensive tickets in the area - not worth the price. food is trash. Considering I had a awesome brunch next door, I can tell you the people cooking the food for this theater are not qualified to clean the kitchens in the surrounding area. If like most theaters you make money from the concession stands, you really should be focusing more on the quality of the food and just charge regular price for the seats. beer selection is good, could be better. I've been to bunch of these kinds of theaters around the country and this one is literally at the bottom of my list. a couple of suggestions. 1. Serve good food! people will order it and you will not have to worry about paying your wait staff by automatically adding a 20% surcharge - I'm not a fan of this practice and this is the first of its kind that I have been to, to do it automatically. 2. Bring the bill out before the credits are rolling. I don't want to have to wait for my bill to leave the theater when the movie is over. you are also creating another reason not order. read more

First time here since they opened in their current incarnation. The cons: The bar next door (formerly Boswell's) is open to the theater lobby and is *loud*. The ticket-checking employees had to be asked repeatedly to check the tickets by patrons. There is no way to know that to order food there's a button on the front of the seat arm (under the tray) you must push. There's no lighting to view menus either. Need healthy vegetarian options with protein. The pros: The recliner seats are nice, though not as good as Century Cinemas ones. The servers were nice and helpful. Sound was good. We (boyfriend and I) are pretty much exclusively going to Pruneyard dine-in these days, ever since we first went to it late last year. The seats are super comfy, the service and food is good, cocktails are always consistently well made, and we love that they change up/add to their menu to be themed to the latest movies. It's always a fun adventure this way! Tip: Tuesday nights have a discounted rate, so it makes for a relatively inexpensive night out. My only minor suggestion/wish is that they'd update their website to show their currently themed menu(s), and also provide a small flashlight at the seats so that people can read menus without having to whip out their own super-bright, super-distracting phone flashlights. Minor stuff, though...we'll for sure always keep going here as long as service, quality, etc remains consistently great :) read more

The movie theater is clean, modern, and new. And the seats have the most comfortable recliners I've ever sat in while at a movie theater; the recliner leans so far back that you're a few clicks away from being nearly supine. Strange leadoff to a review with only one star, right? Well, this is why: This weekend, my husband and I went to a lunchtime movie screening, so we decided that ordering a real meal was the way to go. Here's where it gets ugly. We ordered mac and cheese, a Vietnamese sandwich (bánh mì), and two sodas, which amounted to approx. $60. I don't take issue with the total because I'm a former New Yorker where the same meal at a movie theater would likely cost a tad more. But what I take issue with is that when you're presented with your check to sign, there is a line indicating gratuity. So why is that bad? Because nowhere on the check are you reminded that the movie theater automatically adds 20% gratuity to your bill, which mind you, is noted in the menu in an italicized serif clocking in at approx. 8 pt. And to add insult to injury, the theater doesn't present you with a check that itemizes everything you've ordered, which I assume would delineate the 20% gratuity charge. Since we stayed for the final scene of our movie--it was AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR after all, so you have to stay until the bitter end!--when the movie theater is rolling the credits and the lights are up, it was interesting to see nearly everyone remaining in their seats also feeling betrayed, annoyed, and pissed because they too were confused. And several people asked to speak to someone; the woman next to me was asked for the name of their server, intimating that either the fact that they were not told/reminded about the 20% gratuity was the server's fault, or that perhaps the moviegoers next to me were complaining about the service. It's worth mentioning that this push-of-a-button-and-at-your-seat-food-and-beverage service is optional; if you are only interested in standard movie fare like popcorn, M&Ms, and sweetened, carbonated soft drinks, you can order it from your typical movie theater concessions vendor. (And maybe lite fare like chicken nuggets, though I'm not certain.) If you continue to knowingly deceive your guests, Pruneyard Cinemas, good luck staying open for business. My advice for those of you who decide to give Pruneyard Cinemas your money: order your own movie snacks at concessions. read more

Love the remodel and the seats are super plush. The food was definitely above average for your typical theater food, although the popcorn machine was broken. The only negative and it's not a knock on the theater, is when other people are ordering food in the middle of the movie. It's a bit disruptive, especially if people are whispering and the waiter can't hear them, so they have to say it again. It would be awesome if people can just order from their phones or the theater can post something that says it's proper etiquette to order at the beginning of the movie.
