Updates...I am still not happy with my treatment. Here I have been with the same psychiatrist for over a year. She continuously tries to prescribe medication ,every single month ,that has a known cause for tartive dyskinesia, who wants to experience uncontrollable movements due to their mental health medication, and this tardive dyskinesia is irreversible. however, she still continues to prescribe these things for me.recently she told me she was going to start a forced taper on a medication that I have been taking for years that I have not had any problems with, when I contacted Samantha Gort regarding this. She told me that my psychiatrist did not put this in my chart,that is a no-no,that needs to be charted when you tell your patient you are going to force taper them ,on top of that Samantha made judgment calls about me without even knowing me or my situation. I am going to see a different provider with the organization, but I am very unhappy with the way I have been treated and have lost trust in them. I will update as my treatment continues until I decide not to go there anymore which I have a feeling is where this is going. Update: I just had my appointment with my new psychiatrist and what a world of difference. I feel so relieved and I feel like I finally found someone who cares about people and not just money. He actually spent 10 minutes with me which is much better than what the previous provider did he also assured me that decisions about medication whether it be tapered discontinued or changed would be a decision made between the two of us, which is the opposite of what the previous providers said she was trying to force taper me, if you have to go to psychiatric wellness ask for Jacob Rosales he is the best. I'm changing my rating to five stars because of him. read more

The onboarding for new patients online was a bit of a hassle. Several technical glitches and whatnot. Ultimately, it was easiest to have my GP refer me and I was able to get an appointment. Note that they don't have immediate appointments, most are two weeks out. Which was a bummer. The lobby wasn't the most luxurious or clean, but I didn't have to wait much longer than 10 minutes so I was fine. I ended up seeing a Nurse Practitioner, which was sort of a bummer too, but she was nice and thorough. In the end none of my medication changed. I do feel like she could have suggested more options. The office staff was beyond rude. I have short term memory loss and I confused a date and missed my appt. I was tell the woman it was on my phone I was looking at my appt. I was looking at the wrong one. The manager came back and said after talking to your therapist we are kicking you out. The real reason they kicked me out is because I was told for a year they were applying for Ketimine treatments and after being kicked out I called Spravato and my insurance a referral had never been made. So my psychiatrist sat across and lied to my face for over a year. Please find another place there are plenty in Bakerfield now. read more

If I Could Give 10 Stars and a Hug, I Would Let me tell you about the absolute legend that is Dr. Bhurgri ..a.k.a. the modern, progressive psychiatrist who actually gets it. I'm not sure what kind of magic he's working, but thanks to him, I'm no longer lying in bed Googling "can a human live under a weighted blanket full-time?" and calling it a life plan. Spoiler: I feel so much better now. Like, shockingly better. When I first came to Dr. Bhurgri, I was in a very, very dark place. I had been in psychiatric care for years seen more providers than I can count and always left feeling ignored, rushed, or herded through like cattle. Cold check-ins, short appointments, and treatment plans that felt copy-pasted. Other doctors just threw different medications at me, constantly tweaking dosages or switching prescriptions, while completely ignoring the fact that I was experiencing terrible side effects , even when I said they were just as debilitating as what we were trying to treat. But my experience under Dr. Bhurgri care has been the complete opposite. From day one, he treated me with genuine kindness, respect, and compassion. He listened really listened ,and saw me as a whole person, not just a list of symptoms. He worked with me, not around me, and took the time ,years, in fact to fine-tune a treatment plan that actually works for me, not just "most people." His approach is thoughtful, modern, and collaborative -- I never feel talked down to or brushed aside. He creates a safe space where it's okay to be honest and vulnerable, and he makes the hard parts of treatment feel manageable and human. There's no ego, no rush -- just real care and the sense that he's actually in this with you. Also: TMS. I was skeptical. It sounded a little sci-fi. But it ended up being a total game-changer ,like my brain finally got a hard reset. And he guided me through it with patience and clarity every step of the way. I truly believe that between his support and the treatment itself, I was brought back to life. Now? I laugh again. I show up for my life again. I'm present. And I honestly didn't know if that would ever be possible for me again. Dr. Bhurgri ,you've had a profound impact on my well-being, and I'll never be able to thank you enough. You've gone above and beyond, consistently and sincerely, and your work has truly changed my life. To anyone considering making that first appointment: do it. This place flat out sucks. During a tough time in my life in early April I reached out to this place and had a video visit with someone. I do not want to give their name so they don't feel called out, but I felt judged and scolded after my meeting. During the meeting, the provider kept saying "Wow, I'm trying not to get emotional." Who does that? In addition, I asked for some therapy recommendations which I never received. Basically they made a quick $15 off of me for a copay and I have yet to receive any meaningful help. The provider did not care about my needs at all. She refused to trade notes with my therapist saying that it was my job to accurately report my symptoms and therapy and psychiatry were meant to be separate. Basically she was too lazy and didn't care to do it. Also only prescribed me the lowest dose of an anti psychotic after telling her about hallucinations and delusions. This office is consistently a nightmare to work with. A revolving door of providers because they have severe turnover, and it's impossible to get in touch with anyone if there are issues. My provider will forget to put in my prescription, and I'll be ignored and sent to voicemail for days. The Nursing dept that helps with prescriptions is laughable, they don't answer the phone and don't take issues seriously. Online medication services through an app are more reliable and pleasant to deal with. One star is too many. read more

I would like to update my review of Dr. Bhurgri specifically. He has been much less rushed in the last few months. He has also not canceled or moved an appointment once since September. He has also always done a great job of listening to the patient; he talks you through different possible treatments with the drawbacks and benefits of each and makes sure you understand why any changes are being made. I have also had more luck with the office staff in the last 6 months. I moved all my prescriptions recently when I moved houses and they were very helpful and ensured I did not miss a single dose. The Psychiatrist wellness center has been amazing, I couldn't be more grateful especially for Dr. Fernando! A few months back I checked myself into a rehab facility for substance abuse and was able to get an appointment with a couple psychiatrist for an evaluation. After 2 evaluations, Dr. Fernando, diagnosed me with adhd and we started attempting different medications. I also tried a couple different sleep medications which have helped me get back on track with my sleeping schedule. Now that I believe I've found the correct medication for myself it's been a life saver in many aspects of my life while maintaining my sobriety as well! I'm so grateful for Dr. Fernando and the psychiatrist wellness center in aiding and helping me with getting back to a normalcy of life again with diagnoses and medications. It has seriously been such a life saver, and I really recommend Dr. Fernando, he is young, understanding, knowledgeable, and very accommodating when working with me, and I have heard nothing but great things from others as well! I needed important paperwork filled out for my University and was told Vanessa would reach out to me and take care of it. She never did so I called and someone transferred me over to her. This was on a Wednesday and she told me she was off the next day so she would have it back to me by Friday. Never heard from her. So, I called Monday, no answer, I left a voicemail, no one got back to me. Called THREE times Tuesday (today, 6/6/23) and was put on hold for 30min the first call, sent to voicemail the second call, and was put on hold for another 7min the third time. Extremely unprofessional. I also should mention I live two and a half hours away because I am at university and now I am having to drive down there so I can go into the office in person and make them fill this paperwork out for me. If I could give this office zero stars I would. Absolutely disgusting how they set up appointments and "call back." My dad needed an appointment here over two months ago. They need to verify, wait, call, this is why our mental health is so screwed in this country. My dad couldn't work, sleep, eat, grown man now weighing 140lbs. He's in a psychosis and suicidal now, hasn't slept 5 days, Benadryl and melatonin won't knock him out. He's been to urgent care, Bakersfield behavioral health was full, and now at the ER. He's suicidal and 10000x worse than what he was when he tried getting in. Be ashamed of yourselves, learn to take each call seriously and get people in asap before they have a horrible psychotic break. Take things seriously and get people in faster, do better. read more

I made an appointment with a doctor to discuss adult ADHD. I ended having a tele appointment with a PA who was cold, distant, and unqualified. She told me that because I had achieved degrees in higher education I couldn't possibly have ADHD. I have a masters in counseling and know first hand this is not true. She focused solely on my relationship with food and repeatedly asked if I feel guilty when I eat (for the record, this wasn't something on the intake form. I am 5'10" and not overweight, nor do I struggle with food). Every question she asked, I answered honestly and she seemed displeased by my response. This is not how mental health professionals should make anyone feel. They should leave their biases and prejudices at the door and foster a relationship of trust and respect. I was contacted to make a follow up appointment and informed them I had found a professional that I feel comfortable with and no longer wish to be contacted by anyone from their facility. I would NEVER recommend this establishment as far as mental health is concerned. In this day and age, be better and do better. read more

This place is terribl. I have been going here for about 3 years plus and they have never kept an appointment date. Every time they reschedule or cancel with about 24hr notice. Each time I have taken off work to make the appointment and then they cancel. Then when I receive my meds they are incorrect nearly every other time. I then have to call or make another $125 appointment to fix what the PA messed up. They are often not friendly and argumentative when you try to ask them to fix things. Its never sorry about that, let me try to help you. it's always an argument and unprofessional attitude. do yourself a favor go somewhere else. read more

Not a full service facility. They will prescribe medications but do not have any standardized assessment processes. They will complete short term disability papers for a fee, but will not engage in treatment more than prescribing drugs. They do not work with any permanent disability beyond prescribing drugs. They do not refer to full service practitioners. Bottom line; they do the minimum: drugs. read more

I wanted to add more to my review based on recent experiences. Dr. Bhurgri has gone out of his way to work out my challenges, even connecting with me by phone outside of our appointment time to check on me and go through my options - particularly with the very strict prescription plan I have with my health insurance. I know he is very busy taking care of his patients (he has had to open more appointment slots at night and on weekends), so it felt extra special for him to reach out like that. I can't speak on any of the other doctors in that practice, but I will continue to see Dr. Bhurgri as long as I possibly can. He's a real winner in my book. Update: 1/1/23 Yet again, Dr. Bhurgri has gone above and beyond for me. To get my TMS treatment again (see my initial post), it has been a challenge working with my insurance and getting the technician scheduled for my pacemaker that was necessary to start treatment. I was also having problems with the pharmacy coverage for my health insurance to get the drug that Dr. Bhurgri wanted to prescribe. In both cases, Dr. Bhurgri has stayed on top of the situation for both of those situations, and today he called and let me know that everything was worked out for the TMS and it can begin with the first session scheduled for Friday. I am very fortunate to have really good doctors, and I wouldn't trade them for anyone else. However, things from time to time get missed and the ball gets dropped. I get it - doctors are so overwhelmed and over-scheduled. But Dr. Bhurgri has been great at keeping on top of things. If you need a Psychiatrist, you can't go wrong with Dr. Bhurgri. read more

I'm upset that I have to assign them one star. No stars is the option I'd prefer at this moment. I have had an extremely upsetting and awful experience trying to get my elderly mother a first appointment at this location. Twice now they wait until the day of the appointment to call and cancel on us with little explanation or care. The receptionists are dispassionate and fast talking (good luck understanding their light speed babbling), and you get the impression that patients are being processed like cattle. They try really hard to get you to agree to remote appointments. They really don't want to see you in person. I can only surmise that a video call is more profitable for them. I will not go through the hassle of making a third appointment that they will inevitably cancel at the last minute again. This whole experience was extremely upsetting, and from a place that is supposed to help with your mental health no less. Thank you very much indeed. read more

Communication is Terrible! I was notified that I had jury duty the night prior to my appointment so I could not give 24 hour notice to cancel. I called the next morning and they said they would call me back but never did. I called later the same day and got the answering machine and left a detailed message. I never got a call back. Then I received a bill for a "no show" appointment. I called the billing department and they said they would send a message to the office and the same day, called the office again and left a message. Still, never got a call back and received a second invoice for the missed appointment. I will never make another appointment with this office again. read more

My experience with two different therapists was really terrible. I had virtual appointments; a woman who worked there couldn't even be bothered to look at me during our sessions. I could not have felt less important-- just a number for insurance money. The man who "treated" me was aggressively uninterested, and became very negative towards me. They actually triggered a setback in my healing. My advice is to keep looking. read more

This is the absolute worst excuse for any kind of a medical facility, much less a mental health facility. It is the Kmart of mental health facilities. I mean, come on, you have a nice office and the seating is ripped and torn black pleather couches. You couldn't even donate them they're so gross. All I need is a prescription for a drug I've taken for 17 years but new medical insurance required I had to see him first.The doctor that was ASSIGNED to me Dr. Song, is so rude. I requested a woman and found out after I got there they told me it was a he instead and no reason why either. He makes you wait at least 15 minutes past your appointment time EVERY visit. It's definitely his way of being disrespectful and I'm sure makes that diploma worth it. Then you get to sit across from him while you're inhaling his idea of good aroma therapy. Nasty stuff he's got going on in that office. I have had good mental health care in San Diego county for the last 3 years so I know what good service is and this bozo couldn't even answer three requests for a $4 prescription from freaking Walmart that he screwed up in the first place. The last time someone actually answered the phone at this office the receptionist told me that she would give him the message but she couldn't make him call me back and didn't know when he would be back in the office!!! Really???????? So I sent a quick message to my PA and within 2 hours my prescription was ready to pick up. So you folks at Psychiatric Wellness can cancel my appointment for July and use this post as confirmation. If your in need of mental health services don't come here unless you don't need your time or hard earned money. It's a medicine stop shoppe. I have had 3 appts and still haven't been able to partake in any actual talk therapy because the docs keep canceling right before each appointment. In my experience is the main goal of facility is to collect full 100.00 a visit and or an mental health rx dispensary. Both of my therapist, not doctors, which is why I looked door a psychologist in the first place, I do t like too many hands I my cookie jar at once, they each have suddenly cancelled the talk appointments (BTW I've had been here 4 total times and not one single talk therapy visit) The McDonald's of psychology serving one billion minds as their playland and your tiny little savings account to ensure PSW lives on. Thank God I'm NOT suicidal I feel bad for those who are more stressed with this blessed life than I. My time and health are just as valuable as anyone in this office. why doesn't PSW and the therapist pay a canceled or missed visit fee to my account? Two missed visits in less than 60 days is not an rare exception above all is not acceptable. I Walked out of this revolving door today after I was asked for yet more money without providing any actual therapy. I'm more stressed out giving money to someone who I am just a chart number of. This practice needs work. They have a policy that after a year of not seeing a doctor, you will be considered a new patient. Normal stuff. However, they wont tell you this, even after it has happened. There are no text message reminders if you are running out of medication, so you are left to guess. Do not show up late, even if you are in your timeslot, because they will count this as a no show. Not all, but some receptionists and the nurse will talk down in a condescending manner to you. All in all, not a welcome environment. The doctors will not spend much time with you before giving you a medication. They don't get to know you, they will just liberally give medication out. This place is a headache and not somewhere you'd want to go read more

I was told once to let my voice be heard and i will. So i went to an office visit initial first visit on 4/6/18 i had called that same week to schedule an App. Because i was having high anxiety. So i got the appointment for friday since they were also taking new patients. They ran my insurance through the phone and said it was good to go. I confirmed the appointment got the email so i could print the packet at home. Went to my visit on the 4/6/18 everything was good the lady at the front said i didn't have a co-pay which is weird because i usually do and its 30 dollars so i told her i could pay it she told me i didnt have to pay if i did have a copay it would come up in the next visit probably. Everything was fine got to see the psych who was pregnant at the moment. Got a Rx and left later in that day when i went to drop off my meds At cvs, CVS told me hey your insurance isnt working give them a call so my mother did as she is the primary they told me us we no longer had Insurance so i was like oh ok well whatever. On to the present i received a letter not to Long Ago from this place saying i owed 444.00 but because i paid the copay it was 414.00 This is BS. As a matter of fact all their answers were BS. Im not mad at the fact that i have to pay im more mad and upset and frustrated that they didnt check my insurance properly now im stuck with a 400 dollar bill which i told david or dave i wouldn't be paying because they should have checked throughly and that if i was sent to collections i would dispute. This is insurance fraud what you guys are doing !!! Who is your CFO so i can talk to them. Had i known my insurance didnt cover me anymore i would have canceled. This place is a scheme, money hungry, and a fraud. Stay away from this place. My son has been going here for a couple of years. He had a good doctor but she left. The doctor he got stuck with is horrible. My son has been on antidepressants and this doctor has changed his prescription EVERY month. My biggest complaint is when the insurance denied the newest medication and we called , the doctor never called back. You are not suppose to just quit an antidepressant. We called every couple of hours and was told over and over that the doctor was left a note. Today is 4 days and no call back. My so. Ended up in the emergency room at the local hospital very sick. This office is a joke! I have called this office 5 times today to see if they've completed a prior auth for some medication I was taking. No one calls back. When you speak to the front desk they place you on hold and don't come back on or transfer you directly to voicemail without giving you a chance to speak to anyone. I asked to speak to a office manager and they hung up on me. They are rude and unprofessional! The providers are mediocre and rush through your sessions and don't listen. I like my doctor but Just talked to two nurses to refill a prescription and they were so rude over the phone. They would ask a question and before I could reply, they would repeat the question and then get annoyed because they had to repeat it. How about giving patients more than a second to respond? Nurses shouldn't be talking to people with mental health conditions in that manner as they can be sensitive to that unnecessary behavior. Get a different job if you're that impatient. Next time I have to talk to a nurse at this place, I'm switching doctors. Dealing with the attitude is not worth the price I'm paying for. read more

I'm honestly very surprised by all of the negative reviews, which is what motivated me to add mine. This place has been wonderful for me. When I came to Dr. Fernando, I was in a very poor state. He was able to give me his time and asked me very detailed questions that led to my diagnoses. He prescribed me with mild doses of medication at first, and brought me back to assess my progress. Dr. Fernando does a wonderful job of really listening to you, and how you're feeling. I've never once felt talked down to, or belittled, in his care. When I told him my attention was something I wanted to work on naturally, he made no attempt to sway me. I'm really thankful for him. As far as the office goes, I've not had a problem with the staff. They are always nice when I come in, and helpful when I call. I even once had an issue with Costco Mail Order Pharmacy, and they called me in a new prescription same day to Rite Aid so I didn't miss a dose. Sure, the call waiting can sometimes be on the long side, but that's just a sign that they are busy! Which, in medical care and restaurants, is always a good sign! People are crowding them for a reason, it's because they are good at what they do! I may be more patient than the average person, but when it comes to good doctors that I trust, I'm willing to wait as long as it takes. Dr. Fernando is worth waiting for! read more

I am very pleased with the help I have received from Dr Bhurgri and Suzie during the journey of my recovery.

My spouse went here to see Dr. Fernando for a while and we have had a pretty terrible experience with this office and the doctor for a while now. For one, this whole office is always overbooked and the PA's are unhelpful & also overbooked as well. They are unavailable after hours & on most holidays , even to correct mistakes they make. This is not a patient focused practice and in my experience has been very difficult to work with. Compassion and helpfulness should be shown to people who need psychological help and especially if you are going to make someone take medicine-you need to be helpful to them during office hours and after hours, we did not find that kind of patient care here. I understand that some people may abuse their practice or be difficult to work with but this should not make them push away good people that need help. A big thumbs way way down for this business. read more

I got here 15 minutes early, the staff runs around like chickens with their heads cut off, they misplaced my chart. 2 other patients for the same Dr have come and gone after me. I have been a client with this office for about 5 months. I was wary at first because of the negative reviews, but this is who my primary referred me to and I needed my medication ASAP and didn't have time to jump through hoops with insurance. So I went hoping for the best but expecting the worst. I was very pleasantly surprised. The first visit I was greeted warmly and waited less than 5 minutes. My psychiatrist, Dr. Fernando, is awesome. He didn't make me feel judged, and was caring, professional, and knowledgeable. I left feeling much better about the office, but figured I'd give it a few visits before reviewing just in case I my great first visit was a fluke. It's been 5 months and I am happy I to report I have received the same high-quality level of care each time I visit. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my appointment (usually I'm seen within minutes of checking in). I've received both psychiatric and therapy services here and am happy with all the staff involved. As someone with ADHD, I also really appreciate the day-before appointment reminder texts so I avoid any missed appointment fees. read more

I was switched to this practice by my former Dr. who moved her practice up north. I am amazed at the lack of help for their established patients. The people are nice but there is no follow through on helping you get your problem solved. You have to leave messages that get no answers. If you do talk to someone and they take a message, same thing NOTHING. The office manager is not available (she goes between two offices) and her voice mail is conveniently full. This place is a train wreck and should be avoided. If there are too many calls to handle HIRE MORE HELP (nurses?). This is not the kind of practice where the patients should have to wait for help. read more

I know I made the right decision by choosing this facility. I just booked an appointment with the sweetest receptionist, Angela. I can't stress how crucial the intake process is; you can either gain or lose a potential client. She was kind and patient and was able to get me in soon. Job well-done.
