I'm in Alaska for work every month and typically don't review or even go to hotel bars. Generally it's disappointing. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the Ptarmigan Bar and Grill which is located inside the Sheraton Hotel. It had a great ambience and pleasant service. I had a couple Old Fashioned's that actually had some alcohol in them. However, the surprise was the Alaskan Rockfish Tacos, which I had pan seared rather than deep fried. They tasted great! There was plenty of perfectly cooked rockfish along with a fresh slaw topped with a mango salsa, street corn, and a chipotle aioli. There are other items on the menu that look tasty as well. Though there's nothing new that they're doing, everything tasted great When I find myself at the Sheraton again, I won't hesitate to eat at the Ptarmigan. read more

Where's the fish? The pathetic and super small portion of fish in the fish and chips is appalling! They charge $24 for this BS!!! An order of 6 McDonalds nuggets would have been way more filling than this. I mentioned the laughable portion to the server and she agreed with me....but did not offer to ask the chef for more or discount the bill. Don't waste your money here even if you're staying at the hotel and starving. You can get more food in the small minimart they have behind the check in desk. read more

I am hesitant to eat at hotel restaurants but after a busy day, I just wanted a meal and head state to the room. The first thing that hit me was the dirty dishes and glasses around the cozy lounge area. In fact the entire time I was there (about an hour) the tables were not cleaned up. The hostess was nice and seated me promptly but it took the server a while to acknowledge me and there were about 4 other people in the place. Fine, I'm just relaxing. I ordered the chicken fettuccine. It came out quickly but I was disappointed. One scoop of pasta with a very salty chicken breast cut on top. It was almost too salty to eat and frankly, I felt like it was chicken breast with a side of pasta. I'm hungry. Just eat it. I'll drink lots of water later so I don't puff up from sodium. The atmosphere is great. It's just a shame that with the amount of people working here they could step up the cleaning of tables and be more attentive. Next time I'll walk to one of the many restaurants around here. Not worth the $$. read more

I usually don't eat at my hotels but it was so cold I decided to give it a try. I was greeted quick and by a kind nice lady. I sat in Cindy's section let me tell you this woman oozes hospitality. She is kind caring and super attentive didn't have to ask for one thing she went above and beyond! she is a real winner for this place. The food was short of amazing the chowder had lots of seafood thick creamy sauce and no need for anything added. The sandwich was sooo huge I had to cut it in half had such great flavor the chicken is juicy and full of flavor with a nice crunch on the bread yet soft in the middle and lightly toasted. If you are in the area or staying here be sure to drop in for a bite and leave happy guaranteed! read more

After seeing the Ptarmigan Bar & Grill during an event held at Sheraton Hotel and Spa and being served probably one of the best dinners, I've ever had in the event I knew I needed to give it a try. They had just put out the new menu for 2023 and I was impressed. We started with the buffalo shrimp, beautiful plating and perfectly cooked. We also had the Seafood chowder defiantly the best I've had! As for the entrees I had a Mixed Game Smash burger, and my partner had the fish tacos. The presentation was great the taste was amazing! The fish tacos were so big the tortilla was just enough to hold the filet, but the filets were much bigger than we expected! The cocktails were good, services were prompt and professional. 10/10 Would highly suggest. Defiantly a new regular to this unique, beautiful and flavorful restaurant! read more

absolutely terrible. mac and cheese was closer to a soup then a cheese. servers give the customers attitude when meanwhile the customers should always be right. my server was telhina. they clearly forgot about our pizza when we had to wait an hour for our food. there excuse is unstaffed which i understand is a constant problem these days but that is no excuse for the attitude. would recommend anywhere else in the plaza. read more

I came in with a friend on the night of the Iditarod 2020 and sat at the bar. We waited at the bar for 10 minutes before our drink order was taken. Drinks came out and we waited another 10 minutes for a refill, fine whatever. My friend leaves to his room and I'm left sitting waiting for the bartender to get to me... I then order another drink and the coconut shrimp. 25 minutes pass and still no drink or shrimp. I get up and walk away from the bar to the couch area. I hear the bartender say I went over to the couch. The bartender says your food is ready, I say what about my drink... there was so much confusion and lack of service I wanted to scream and just WALK OUT. When I get back to the bar, I tell them again that I still wanted a refill. The bartender drops my drink off without any kind of acknowledgement (even after I say thank you). It's really not the bartenders fault since the lead cook was on vacation and she had only 1 person serving the entire hotel.. however this was the MOST horrible hotel/restaurant/bar experience I've had in a very long time. When talking to others in the lounge, this is a normal experience?! On top of everything, the restroom was out of toilet paper and poops on the floor. The food was also Not up to par. Apparently Lucy was off, and someone else was covering. Just a horrible experience in general. read more

Convenient to Sheraton guests, you can come in jet lagged to get your food at any time. Full course entrees from the main restaurant ( next door) Jade are available starting at 4 pm! Around 5 or so, their fabulous happy hour starts, offering free snacks and an array of wine expectator over 90 points tastings for a small change (5$). The menu covers a nice array of Alaskan treats, from fresh King crab dip to sliders of reindeer (delish). The food is beautifully presented and warm. The employees were ultra nice. We have loved the Alaskan hospitality so far proven to be extremely friendly and chatty ( I will fit in well). The ambiance is reminiscent of a mahogany filled library/lounge. Tongs of plush leather sofas great your sore bones. There is also a huge plasma tv where you can sit and relax as watch a game, or if you prefer to sit by a warm fireplace, there is one of them too to keep you warm while you sip a little something something. I'm staying in the Sheraton so I decided to give this place a try. The atmosphere is a nice mix of locals and guests. I sat at the bar and checked out the menu. They serve the full menu from the more formal Jade Restaurant across the lobby. Big plus. I was waited on swiftly and was happily given recommendations when I asked. The seafood chowder was amazing- rivaling many New England chowders I have had and I am VERY picky about chowder. I followed it up with the Alaska sliders. Yum! The staff are attentive but not pushy or crowding. I will definitely be back! read more
