Decent place for a quick bite. Meatball sandwich is recommended. Cheesesteak is ok. All sandwiches are o.k. And expensive

A lot of people have scored this place really low. I have always had excellent service here, the food is really good and comes out fast. Clean bathroom in the restaurant also. I love coming here just for the view. :-)

    Nachos with the works, $13.99.

I like that I can have a drink without being in the main airport itself. That means when a friend is traveling through and wants to get a drink during layover I can meet them here. I came in from Fairbanks and live in Anchorage, while my buddy was going to have a layover to go to Kenai through Era. I went and got my bag and we went to this joint while he waited for his flight. In the hour we ate nachos, I had a beer and he scotch ,and a good time was had by all. The front of the establishment has bar seating while the back has small tables where one can look out the window and watch planes take off. I will come again.

I didn't try the food. The bloody Mary was great and the bartender gave excellent service.

Ok based on my final destination of unak/dut you can probably guess that our options are limited since we have to stay outside of security.

The room has a high-energy, lively vibe without ever feeling overwhelmingly loud, and you can tell why the chef earned a James Beard nomination. You definitely need a reservation; they have a few walk-in spots, but they go very fast, so you will want to get there right when doors open if you do not have one booked. The beverage menu is very well done, with great cocktails and thoughtful mocktails that felt just as crafted. For food, our starters set a high bar; the pork buns, pickles, and octopus were all flavorful and well prepared. The ramen itself was delicious and hits the spot in the Alaska weather, with deep, tasty broths and bold flavors throughout. The Dark Horse was especially good. We did not have room left for dessert, but the savory side of the menu more than delivered.

Wow Anchorage, what a great spot you have in Whisky and Ramen. We came a little after opening at 5:15 and were seated at a table immediately. Larger groups may have trouble without a reservation. Everything was phenomenal. My husband had a couple cocktails and I had a couple NA cocktails. I was really impressed with the NA cocktails -- they were complex in flavor and not overly sweet. Husband was also impressed with his drinks. For appetizers we got the pickles, pork buns and takoyaki. In my opinion the pork buns are the way to go. I also enjoyed the pickles and there were a good garnish with other dishes. For ramens we got the dark horse and Tokyo rich tsukemen. Wow wow wow, they were simply excellent. The broths had so much flavor. The tsukemen was a fun dish with having to assemble it yourself and dip food into the broth. Pork belly serving was very generous. Some of the best ramen I have ever had. If you are in anchorage you need to eat here!

S Lounge is a bit of a surprise. It's attached to the most notorious and shady motel in town (bum…read morebum BUUUUM!!!! Travel Inn). At the bequest of a friend, we bopped around town and this was one of his requisite stops. When I realized where we were, I shuddered. Truly, the Travel Inn makes motels in the 3rd world look luxurious. I was not optimisitic about the bar. I was surprised that the S Lounge is a moderatley pleasant dive bar/concert hall. The bar has a smallish stage and dance floor for live music events. There's a cover charge, so that keeps the rif-raf that abound in the neighborhood out. The crowd was mostly goofy but well behaved college kids. Drinks were okay, snacks were okay, the bar was clean enough. Although I REALLY wanted to complain (because did I mention how horrible and ashamed the Travel Inn should be of itself? It's a scourge to humanity!) but I really couldn't. I'd go back if the right band was playing. We happened in on a women's empowerment fundraiser thingie, so it was mostly angry lesbians singing badly. But it was a novel experience and we enjoyed ourselves well enough. I'm going to have to revisit this place to see how it stacks up over time. Check it out. Post a review. I'm really interested to know what other people's experiences will be.

It's relatively clean, staff is pretty friendly, and the drinks are reasonably priced. They've had some pretty interesting shows there, and a good crowd usually turns out. While it is in an area of town frequented by some pretty shady characters, the people I've encountered in the bar have mostly been regular non-shady Anchorage folks.
