Peanut Farm is a sports grill that has been around for some time. The building has been through a few renovations with some additions to look like what it is today. It resembles a large log cabin. Peanut Farm is spacious and has several TV screens for sports viewing. There are also some pools tables near the bar. We grabbed a table that had a nice view of Campbell Creek through the window. Peanut Farm has a full menu that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was a page showcasing their appetizers and pizza selections. I got the Farm's Grilled Chicken with a cup of New England Clam Chowder. I was able to choose a couple of sides and had to try the corn fritters. I highly recommend them. We had a nice time here and it was a great way to wrap up my first trip to Alaska.

The trivia and karaoke were the best I have seen in Anchorage, with a charismatic host and fun atmosphere. These days are, apparently, gone. I have visited twice in the last month, and both were some of the worst bar experiences I have ever had (and I've had some baaaad experiences in my life!). I'm not sure what happened to the staff that worked hard to make the Blue Fox a welcome, classic dive with chill and solid vibes, but whatever the mess is that's in place now is....something else. None of the serving staff seemed to know how to do...well...anything. On one visit, I ordered draft beer - pretty basic. After first returning to ask me for a reminder on what drink I ordered, they still brought me the wrong pour, and after what seemed like an excessive amount of time. I was going to order food, but someone at the table next to me leaned over (unsolicited) and told me I'd be better off skipping it. His actual words were "Don't. Save yourself". Yikes. On my other visit, I ordered an old fashioned. Whatever it was that they brought me, it wasn't anything even close, and it was undrinkable. I sent it back, and never saw a server again. On both visits, noone seemed to know how to use the computer system to get me a bill. I will also note that it was very empty there on both occasions. There is nothing I can think of or that I saw to justify or speak to the combination of slow service and level of bumbling chaos that happened. The place was dead. Not sure where the great entertainment guy went - he wasn't there on either visit, and it looked like no fun was being had by anyone. Something changed, folks. I don't know what, but hear me when I say that VIBES ARE OFF big time. In the words of the fella at the table next to me that night: Don't. Save yourself.

You walk in expecting another layover trap, and instead you're handed a front-row seat to something damn near cinematic. Jets glide in like steel whales, engines humming, lights blinking against that cold Alaskan sky. You're two feet from the runway, and it feels like a million-dollar show nobody bothered to charge admission for. Now let's talk about the move the "Carry-On." Black and blue beef, jalapeño, lettuce, some kind of back-alley secret sauce that ought to be under lock and key. Wrapped up tight like it knows you've got a flight to catch. This isn't just airport food it's survival gear. You grab it, you walk, and somewhere between the terminal doors and baggage claim... it's gone. No ceremony. No leftovers. Just the memory of something that hit harder than it had any right to. That's the kind of food that doesn't need poetry but it gets it anyway. Service? Sharp. No nonsense. The kind of attentiveness that doesn't hover but somehow knows exactly when your glass is getting low. The pilsner recommended without hesitation comes in smooth, clean, no gimmicks. Brewing companies usually lock you into their lineup like it's a contract. Here, at least, you're not getting bullied by the tap list. And the room itself dark wood, rich tones, a little rugged, a little refined. It's got that quiet confidence. Not trying too hard. Not screaming for attention like the rest of the terminal circus behind you. Now sure if you're the type who wants to disappear into some tucked-away lounge like the Alaska Airlines Lounge, sip something fancy, and pretend you're not in transit, that's your play. But you'll miss it. You'll miss this the runway, the movement, the raw, mechanical poetry of people going somewhere. And that's the thing. Travel isn't always about comfort. Sometimes it's about the moment. I bounced around that airport chased a few options, sized them up, felt that familiar itch of "this ain't it." And then I landed here, sat down, took it all in and just like that, the search was over. No snobbery. No overthinking. Just calling it like it is. If you find yourself in Anchorage, standing in that airport with time to kill and hunger creeping in, do yourself a favor walk into Silver Gulch, grab a window, order the Carry-On, and watch the world take off right in front of you.
