Met some friends here and luckily had Waze direct me or I would have driven past it. The bar/restaurant is at the end of a short strip center. There is very little parking but lucky me, I scored a space at the front door. There is also a side door which is the most popular entrance. If you enter from the side, the bar and booths are to your right, and the seating area is to the left. It's a very casual place with more than enough televisions to watch sports. The place was packed but I was fortunate to score one seat near the front door at the bar and wait for my friends. A nice bartender took me order within 5 minutes. The bar staff was busy but when my friends arrived it took over ten minutes for someone to finally stop and ask if they would like to order. By this time, one of them had placed an order at the other end of the bar so they didn't need the help. They were standing about five minutes when a server came over with a snotty tone and asked them to move because it was a hindrance to service. Mind you in 25 minutes that I had been sitting there with other patrons, no one had come through the front door (other than myself) and none of the staff had visited this corner of the bar. We said not a problem, and sat at the other end of the bar which was more of a hinderance to the service area, she was often walking by but she didn't say it was a hinderance. Very confusing. There are better ways to approach customers and she did a poor job. We did not come hungry but we ordered order tator tots because two friends said they were the best. They were good tator tots, hot and perfectly salted. The food coming out looked very good. There are local craft beers on tap, heavy on IPAs. There is one of everything else - stout, lager, cider, etc. And the Guinness is in a bottle. I didn't know this because you can't see the taps at the other end of the bar. I wish the bartender had told me before serving because I would not have ordered the Guinness. The best thing about this place were the friendly customers, the first brunette bartender who was quick to serve and check back, the clean bathroom and the tator tots. I rate them 4 stars based on these things. Hopefully on the next visit the overall service is better. I will also come hungry and order more than tator tots to give an opinion on the kitchen and menu. read more

Some friends and I decided to grab dinner at this local bar which consistently has a good amount of cars anytime we drive by. They do not have a lot of space but make the most of it with a good amount of seating. The decor is mostly Nascar and MLB paraphernalia. Your normal sports bar environment. We ordered wings, split some fries and onion rings. The wings came out hot and crispy, however, some of the sauces lacked flavor. The sauces - barbalo was okay, Thai chili was plain and the dry rub was EXTREMELY salty. The onion rings were very good but the fries were average. While the staff was really nice and attentive; I did not get all the hype I read about from my meal. Maybe it was just an off night. I might give this spot another shot down the road. read more

We went here for dinner, and the service was terrible. After the waitress took our drink order, she never came back. It seemed it was more important to speak with her coworkers at the bar instead. When someone finally did take care of us after I was a bit louder of getting service. It was what would like. Not sorry for the inconvenience and how can I help you. After taking our order, another waitress brought our food. No checked on us during this time, but made sure we had our $45.00 check. It took another 10 minutes to get a takeout box for food left over. I really did not want to leave a tip, but working in hospitality, I know how important it is. We might go back to this establishment, but if the service is the same; I will make sure people know it. This place has become our go to for take out during covid which is when we first tried them. Everything is delicious. They have free delivery within 10 miles. Staff are always professional and friendly. By the way, salads are HUGE! All portion sizes are huge. I learned to get the kettle chips with the sauce on the side so they wouldn't be soggy. We drive by this place everyday on our way home. It's always packed full! We decided to try it on our pizza Friday night. We ordered the quad squad pizza and the honey hot wings. Where have I been all this time? The wings were so good! I just needed a little more sauce because the sauce is what I love the most. BEWARE!!!!! Usually we have decent service here but our last experience was horrible. We called to make a to go order and the waitress placed us on hold and never came back. After being on hold for over 5 minutes, we decided to remain on the phone but to also drive to the restaurant to see if we could place a to go order in person. We arrived at the restaurant and still the waitress had not come back to the phone. So at this point, I had been on hold for 20 minutes. My husband then went inside to place our order and he kindly let the waitress know that I had been on hold for almost 20 minutes trying to place a to go order and that I was still on hold. The waitress responded as such to my husband "Are you ready to order, do you need a menu or do you need a minute?" Completely disregarding my husband's concern about no one coming back to the phone to take our order. (Which we had been ready to place for over 20 minutes.) Nevertheless, my husband then placed our order and when the waitress went to put our order in the computer, she then picked up the "on-hold" call I was patiently waiting on and hung up on me without saying a word. I hate to bring the race factor in but I was clearly able to see patrons of another race come in and pick up their call-in orders with no issue. Even when the waitress came back to have my husband sign the receipt, she literally said, "the phone issue happens all the time" and walked away. That response was less than subpar and lacked any ounce of customer service. A simple acknowledgement of our concern and apology for the oversight would have gone a long way, but none of that occurred. Now to make matters worse, when I arrived home, my entree was burnt. So I called the restaurant back and notified them of this issue and asked could I come in tomorrow for a replacement since it was late in the evening and near bedtime in our house. The waitress on the phone proceeded to say "Our policy is that we can replace your food but you have to bring back the bad food for us to inspect it the same day". Now I'm not sure when this policy went into effect but I'm absolutely sure this is a blatant lie because in the past, (1) I've never had to bring the original food back and (2) have never had to get my replacement the same day. I'm not sure what was going on with this crew tonight but to say the least, I will NOT be patronizing this restaurant going forward. read more

If you have not been to PUB 49 in Harrisburg, good. Save yourself the trouble and disappointment and do not bother with this place. I have been coming here for many years before they changed the name from 49 YARD LINE to PUB 49. Long story short (or not) I went to eat here with my family on 7/27/22. We walked in and it was extremely hot in the building (almost like the a/c was not on or working properly). No big deal. We ordered some appetizers; fried pickles and rueben egg rolls. The pickles were great however the egg rolls were mostly sauerkraut with a sliver of corned beef. We get the egg rolls every time and this was the first time they were truly disappointing. Whatever, we let it be, well, because sh*t happens. Moving forward, an apparently new server took our entree order: 1 hot ham and swiss sandwich w/ fries, 1 calzone and 1 stromboli w/ a side of tater tots. We know the pizza kitchen is not connected however it is the same owner. Within a few minutes of ordering, the sandwich with fries and the tater tots had been dropped off to our table. We assumed our calzone/stromboli was behind it give or take a few minutes. After waiting 30-45min and not one server (not even the one who took our order) had come to the table to check to see if we needed anything (i.e.: drink refills, food quality, etc.) we decided to ask the server, well we had to wave her down to get her attention, about the missing food items. As soon as we mentioned said missing food, it came whipping around the corner, most likely cold from sitting because it was obviously forgotten about. When the server brought it to our table, we told her we did not want it because for the past 30-45 minutes of waiting, we were full due to just eating the tater tots and appetizers. She retreated back to the kitchen and spoke to another woman behind the bar, that woman came to our table and asked if we still wanted our items or a box for them, we explained to her we had waited too long and we would just like it removed from the check. She also retreated back to the kitchen. This time an older, white gentleman with balding white hair and a very grease-stained t-shirt came to our table. At first, we thought he was a customer, until he stopped at our table, put his hands on his hips in a very aggressive/dominating manner and said to us "You're not going to eat MY food? You're just going to waste it and make me eat that cost?" We explained to him that it took way too long not to mention it didn't come because it was ready but because we had to ask, plus, our child had already eaten, and we were full. We also mentioned to him about the rueben egg rolls that were basically just kraut at this time, which he replied, "we make them here, that's how they come every time." Um, no sir, that is just a blatant lie. We let it go. He then continued in an aggressive manner saying "Do you understand the circumstances of what is going on in this country right now?! How hard it is to find people to work, no one wants to work!" We tried to relate with him considering we as well own a business, so we understand how hard it can be when you're short staffed, but it was also the poor customer service or lack of. But when trying to explain that to him, instead of apologizing or trying to rectify the situation, he quickly snapped at us saying "His customer service is excellent, and it is our fault for being in a rush and we will be paying for everything, he should not have to eat the cost because we are in such a rush".... He continued to argue with us and finally we told him to just bring the check without the items we never received on it. He tried to tell us (again) we would be paying for those items, when the check came, they were removed. It was 8:21pm when we got the bill, we were in no rush, we just wanted some type of acknowledgement of their own mistake or at least some honest transparency. We wanted management to act like management, not the overworked owner who reeks of alcohol aggressively coming up to our table and demanding to know the problem and then blaming US for the problem with our 12-year-old sitting there....So if you're looking for a hit-or-miss place on food quality or quantity (sometimes they don't even have the menu items) with poor customer service and a reckless management team then this is the spot to go see the sh*t show. This edition of Excited about Eating takes us back to Harrisburg, NC and to 49 Yardline, a sports grill with great food. Our first experience in Harrisburg was a few weeks ago at Harrisburg Family House Restaurant and we liked it so much, we decided to try another Harrisburg location. 49 Yardline not only carries all of the pub favorites including wings, burgers and fries, but also tacos, ribs, and seafood. Dora here. Immediately when we walked in, we noticed that 49 Yardline was light and airy, not dark like some pubs, with booths and high tops along with the bar. It seemed to be a neighborhood hangout with plenty of kids and even firefighters stopping by to eat. For my lunch, I chose the Rib-Zone. Cheerwine-braised ribs, slaw, and my choice of side, English Peas. The ribs were great, tender, full of meat, and sticky from the caramelized Cheerwine sauce. I would describe these ribs as finger-licking-good. Dora here. Our waiter was helpful with suggestions, and it was tough to choose from so many creative, over-the-top options. Like a PBJ burger. A burger slathered with peanut butter and topped with candied jalapenos. No, I didn't get that one. I opted for a more traditional burger, lol, the Swiss Alps with swiss cheese and mushrooms minus the bun (still watching the carbs). This was a fat burger with great char flavor, pink on the inside just like I ordered. Next time we go back, because I am SURE we'll be back, I'll be looking for the Fish & Chips or the Chicken Dance. Had the Juicy Lucy, two 4 ounce beef patties stuff with cheese with cheese on top. Very tasty. I added a side salad at $2 extra which I thought was a bit pricey but salad was cold and ranch dressing flavorful. Would definitely go back. It has changed names multiple times over the years since I have been a Harrisburg resident, so you may want to check back to see the current name! There's a bar area, a few booths and tables in the back. In the back there's also some bar games. I have been at night and also on a Sunday for football, and it's always a relaxed yet townie crowd. Sunday was family friendly as we visited with a baby and a child, no issues, and a high chair was available! If you want some greasy food, a sandwich or burger this is a good spot!
