***New Ownership*** The new owners have definitely turned this place around and want to make it a family staple in North Plains. I attended their grand opening and got to speak with them at length about the new bar and restaurant menu. They have live music lined up and are redesigning the food menu. Minors are allowed until 9pm. They have board games to play, a pool table, darts, keno and TV to watch the sports games. They redesigned their outdoor area which offers more outdoor space for seating and concerts / live music events. Their lead chef is amazing and blasts out some really good food. read more

While visiting family in Oregon, they took us to Rouge Pub and I'm so glad they did (Thanks Danie The drinks were fantastic, and the customer service was even better. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who were incredibly friendly and shared that they've owned the bar since May of this year. They gave us a little background on the building's history, which made us appreciate it even more. The pub is set in a beautiful old brick building that they've kept true to its original charm while adding just the right modern touches. There was also live music the night we visited, and the artist was amazing it really tied the whole atmosphere together. You can feel the pride, passion, and personality behind this place. The Hubs and I are big fans of Rogue beers. We found ourselves with some time to kill at lunchtime on a Saturday and decided to take a drive out to North Plains & give this Rogue location a try. There was maybe a handful of other couples in the place so it wasn't loud and the service was friendly and quick. I have a feeling this place really gets hopping on Friday & Saturday nights and I heard they often have live music. They have a variety of beers, both their own and other local breweries on tap along with some national brands (if you really want to drink a Coors Light for some reason...). The Hubs ordered their Club sandwich with was GIGANTIC and delicious. He upgraded his side to their onion rings which were beer-battered (I would hope so!) and were very good, too. Seriously, 2 people could easily share the Club Sandwich...it was cut in 4 sections and each section was a sandwich in and of itself with the amount of stuff it was loaded with. I ordered their Shroom City burger (1/3 lb) which was also very good and I had it with their regular fries which are skin-on fresh fries, Yum-O! They didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked so I assumed it would come out medium and I didn't ask (I know some places just serve burgers medium)...it arrived medium-well so I think next time I will ask for medium or medium-rare if the server doesn't ask. It was still darn good, though...topped with plenty of perfectly cooked mushrooms, quality Swiss cheese and lettuce/tomato on a local sourdough bun (which did a great job holding up to all the toppings and stayed together). Not directly pub-related, but the town it's in is a nice little town with some beautiful huge murals painted on the sides/front of several of the buildings. We took the scenic route back to Portland, avoiding the highway, and it was a beautiful drive on a few winding roads...I definitely recommend taking a non-highway route to or from if you have the time to take the slower route. read more

It's an unabashed dive bar. Loud, not the cleanest, not the greatest service, not the greatest food. It's a dive bar. The elephant garlic burger is huge and I like them when I am in the mood for a not-so-healthy meal. The beer flows like a waterfall with quite a few on tap (I rarely drink bottled or canned beer). This is an out of the way joint frequented mostly by locals. There are a few other eateries in the area but this place has been there forever. Due to covid we sat outside. There were open booths inside. But most of the kitchen staff kept taking their mask off. Our waitress had a mask but notably had her nose out the entire time she wore it even when serving food and drinks. Tables were not sanitized after use. Food was bleh. n the midst of elephant garlic territory (you missed the festival last week, btw), in the center of town....ok, in the center of the one block of town, sits the Rogue Brew Pub and Eatery, which i don't believe is any relation to the Rogue Ales brewer type guys. Tho they do serve those quaffs. This is a neighborhood bar w/o a neighborhood, out in the middle of elephant garlic heaven, Oregon. We were on our way to the coast, when hunger pains struck, but regretfully, far past the exit for the Helvetia Tavern. So it was either grab a couple of burgers from the AM/PM mini mart, or check out this place. It was mid afternoon, so the place was empty, but that didn't deter the waitress from popping the top on a new case of attitude, just for us. You know what I mean, the waitress (or waiter) who rolls their eyes so hard, you think you can HEAR IT, when they say to themselves, "oh great, customers." After delivering the menus, and taking our drink orders, she had to return a number of times to get our order, and despite being the only customers, despite repetition, despite her successfully (one assumes) passing it off to the cook, after a considerable length of time, it was at last delivered......wrong. Fuck it, we say, let's eat, and we did. I ordered the elephant garlic burger, a 1/3 pound food service patty adorned with elephant garlic pureed with a little basil, wine and mayo. This was plopped atop an over-sized slice of genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and raw onion. While the menu cautioned this burger is for "garlic lovers only," elephant garlic is not really a member of the garlic family, closer to leeks, and thus milder in flavor. I didn't find it entirely unpleasant, and will try and concoct same at home, but using a higher quality meat, and a harder salami. Just personal preference. The burgers come standard with run of the mill chips, fries or rings $2.00 extra. We tried the rings, and they weren't particularly memorable, either. There were three of us, two burgers, one rings, two beers, one soda, one calamari, one side salad, $33, plus tip. Kind of spendy. I'm glad I went, so I can go "oh, pshaw," when someone brags to me about what a good burger this place has. It's a good burger if you happen to be in North Plains and run out of gas or get a flat tire, maybe. Otherwise, "this isn't the burger you are looking for, move along." read more

Update: One more visit to our local pub. They have a new menu, with some great updates. We noticed a Kobe Beef burger and Hebrew National hot dog. We had a burger with the Kobe and Taco Tuesday Tacos. The burger was super tasty and perfectly seasoned. The bun might need an update to one with a tadge more substance, nonetheless this burger will bring us back. Tacos; the word generous comes to mind. We got three for $1.50 each and they were great. Rather than a taco with wrap, beef and cheese only and the remainder at the toppings bar, you might add traditional lettuce and tomatoe toppings to the plates as it's served. Think that would add to appearance. We can see why folks would want to choose salsas etc. personally, so there's that. The fries and onion rings were the best that could be. They listened to my previous review (feeling important now) about soggy fries. Now they're crisp and tasty. Staff; as friendly and helpful as can be. "Thanks for coming by." This is a little dive bar that makes burgers from local beef, which is a big draw. That being said, it is typical Portland (well outside Portland in this case). The beer was cold and the food was ok. The beef was tasty, although the burger was nothing special. That being said, everyone is super friendly. I would go back for drinks and bar snacks if nothing else. Nice crowd. read more

First know that this place is not a Rouge Brewery Location. I learned that they had the name originally before Rouge Brewery became big. That said we checked this place out being on the west side always looking for some good places to go to. The staff was super nice but definitely lacked organization. The place is not to bad a little run down but seemed clean. The drop is they were super slow in getting our drinks and food to us. Always please take and sorry but regardless it has impact on us enjoying our meal. The food we had fried mushrooms to start, overcooked on the outside, fryer must be too hot. The food was ok, it was not fabulous or better then average at all. Not sure I will go back, too bad I do like the sucluded location and the staff was nice. I go to the Rogue once a month approx. I enjoy the laid back atmosphere and the sandwich menu is extensive. I get a burger great Patties . I asked they are Carlton meat and the Kobe beef is excellent. The best Onion Rings in the greater Portland area . The house fry sauce is tasty . Good service , very friendly I recommend it. The food was amazing. A little hole in the wall place, nothing fancy still some great food! The pastrami is the leanest, no fat and delicious. Friday night. It's Date Night with the Wife! We caught a mention of a Rogue in North Plains---wait---there's a Rogue in North Plains?!? You mean we don't have to drive from Forest Grove to the Pearl for some Rogue? Well, not exactly. Yes, there's a Rogue Brew Pub and Eatery in North Plains. No, they're not at all affiliated with the "official" Rogue Public House's all over Oregon. That said, they do serve up a limited selection (about 8) of Rogue beers on tap. The wife and I ordered ourselves up a pint (I had the Dead Guy, she the Hazelnut Brown) and they met expectations---exactly what we expected them to be. The service was honestly great. Our server knew the menu, offered suggestions, was happy to give us little "tasting" sizes of their beers while we honed our choices, and was generally on top of things. I ordered their "signature" burger, the Elephant Garlic Burger with a side of onion rings. My wife ordered their Bacon Cheddar burger with fries. The food came after an acceptable delay. We noted several things. First, the buns and the meat were your basic food-pak variety. Nothing necessarily fresh or unique. However, the condiments on the burger (tomatoes, onions, lettuce, bacon on my wife's burger, etc) were all quite fresh and of above average quality. We both felt that we'd happily pay a touch more for the burgers if they just upped the quality of the meat and the bun just a bit---it actually would have topped off an otherwise great burger and would have upped this review to 4 stars. They mention the Elephant Garlic burger was for "garlic lovers". First off, Elephant Garlic is REALLY mild. It's on that mild, sweet end of the garlic scale. So, while flavorful, I can't really describe the burger as "garlicky". It just had a nice sauce and good flavor. I'd recommend it. Wife's fries were pretty limp---think McMenamins fries--a bit greasy with the skins on. My onion rings were acceptable, but didn't give that "we made 'em here" impression. All in all, decent place, in a tiny town off the highway. If I was passing through, I'd definitely eat here over the more-branded McDonalds and Subway in town. read more

After spending the day in 100 degree heat riding bicycles, we saw the sign for a Rogue Brewery, or so we thought, in North Plains, no less. So, we decided to stop. We got out and looked at the exterior. It didn't really look like a Rogue so much but we reasoned, it would be cool inside. Wrong x2. Not only was it not an actual Rogue Brew Pub, but it was about 90 inside as they have no air conditioning. Just a ceiling fan or two. We decided to order. We each elected to get a sandwich wrap with a side of fruit. Also, not what you would think. The wrap was tasty and the fruit was canned peaches. I laughed and said I'm not eating those. And the YS said, you should they are cold. So, I did, kind of refreshing given the heat of the day. Service was great, they offered to and did fill up our water bottles from our bikes with ice water which was nice. All in all it was A-OK, but I didn't like the signage on Hwy 26 indicating a Rogue which it is and it isn't. I felt duped. I don't like being misled and thus I will not return. read more

I was out in Washington county for work, and happened upon this gem of a dive bar/restaurant. It's definitely got a small town atmosphere, and I mean that in a good way. I appreciated the many signs pointing to it's location off the freeway, because since I'm not a local, I would have never found it otherwise. The sandwiches were delicious, and the waitress was really friendly. She was knowledgeable about the beer selection and helped us out with picking the best choice for us. She also appeared to be the cook, since we never saw another soul in the whole place. For a slow time of the day, I kind of even appreciated that. Lunch time on a Friday there was only two other groups eating here.There are daily specials, not all of which seemed like that great of a deal, but they're there anyway. There are TVs and happy hour beer prices. So, it may be a much funner place towards the evening. read more

Yeah it has a new owner! and new staff. The food is much improved. Homemade lasgana and brownies are great if you are there on the right day. The burgers are fresh and really good. The bar is improved too. 20+ beers on tap, and great live music every weekend. Norman Sylvester was there last week. Service has vastly improved, attentive and prompt. If you have not visited in the past few months give it another try. This was named the Rogue Brew Pub & Eatery many years ago and is unaffilated with the Rogue Brewery. Went for a drive to check out this little town bar for dinner. Was really good & not very pricey. I had the special $8 steak dinner with Potato & Soup... Dana grabbed a burger which was real good. For $20 we had a pretty good dinner with drinks. Monday night is $4.50 burger night so I'll take the kids for dinner! Because of price and quality ~ I rate it 4 stars... I was driving from Lincoln City to Portland and took the long way through Tilamook, and this was one of the first restaurants after coming through a long stretch of woods. I stopped late at night, and there was a decent band playing to about 6-8 people total, plus me. The service was great - really friendly folks, and the food was decent - but nothing to write home about. The beer selection was really good, and overall it was a memorable experience. When paying up my bill, I asked the guy cashing me out if there was a tip jar for the band which had just finished up, and he took my $5 and then called over the lead singer who thanked me profusely and started up a conversation about where I was from, how I liked the area, etc... I was sort of embarrassed that I'd only tipped $5, but he was ecstatic that he could "buy his drummer a beer". Cool folks, good vibe, decent food, edge of civilization. Check it out. read more

I would highly recommend you run, not walk from this place. Any place w 2 bags of dog poop in the outside yard next to where food is served, should be closed. Anyone with trash lining the entire building should not serve food. I suggest you go 4 blocks to King Torta to eat or possible to Helvetia Tavern is you want a good burger. The food might taste OK, till 4 hours later when you are on the crapper cause you are sicker than a dog. The heath inspection records speak for themselves. I would say this is BARELY a Rouge Brew Pub. Then only thing that kinda makes it a Rouge Brew Pub is that they serve Rouge beers....if they happen to have them. I've driven past the sign for this location for years and this weekend we finally stopped in after a long hike. Immediately I was skeptical of this location. We were sat right next to a sliding glass door to the "patio" were no less then 6 people were smoking(not 10 feet from the door as per Oregon law) and then we were admittedly by there server "forgot about" they didn't have half the food items on the menu and when we got our food I had a frozen veggie burger that was mush and what seemed to be a someone's first attempted at making a beet salad( roughly cut pickled beets over cubed iceberg lettuce. I'll stop in for a beer but probably won't get food. read more

This place is a dive. The service was horrible and they did not have enough people serving for the July 4th holiday. I usually enjoy Rogue pubs but this place is a disgrace to the Rogue name. I asked a server for a soda refill for a kid at our table and she was rude and told me "ok but I need to get others first." She never came back to our table and the sprite was never refilled. A few weekends ago I was riding my bike past the pub on a Saturday. We eat their burgers all the time. On that Saturday they were outside grilling ribs. Today we got ribs to go.. al la COVID-19. They grill ribs every weekend, you must place an order earlier in the day. We all did 1/3 order of ribs, comes w salad and baked beans. Awesome ribs, great smoky flavor, meat falls off the bone, bbq sauce just the right amount of 'tang' big super great value.. a new standard for us at the Rogue. read more

So as much as I love this place and want to leave a 5 star , it has to be earned. Stopped back in after years of staying away because there is a new sheriff in town ! And I can say things are better but still need work. With that being said I stop in on Saturday night of labor day weekend 2021, it was me, the woman, and a couple kids, service was about 7 times better then it has been in 5 years but we were the only customers inside ( two tables with a couple people outside) had to ask 3 times for a shot of whiskey, 3rd time asked the cook and finally got it, the food was good, so good that the 13 year old got my Spicy chicken and ate it so fast before I could tell her that it was not her cheese burger it was already gone, and the ol'lady ordered a Chicken cordon blue, and got a blues burger, but once again it was so good she couldn't tell till the last bite... long story short the food was good enough for one more chance... read more
