While visiting family in Oregon, they took us to Rouge Pub and I'm so glad they did (Thanks Danie The drinks were fantastic, and the customer service was even better. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who were incredibly friendly and shared that they've owned the bar since May of this year. They gave us a little background on the building's history, which made us appreciate it even more. The pub is set in a beautiful old brick building that they've kept true to its original charm while adding just the right modern touches. There was also live music the night we visited, and the artist was amazing it really tied the whole atmosphere together. You can feel the pride, passion, and personality behind this place. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Great drinks, great people, and great vibes all around!

Chef Keky has a Gordon Ramsey talent, blending fresh ingredients and flavors that generate an amazing flavor bomb on the taste buds! Today's fantastic-ness was the chili! GIRL.... Hands down better than my own if I do say in a quiet voice.

The Hubs and I are big fans of Rogue beers. We found ourselves with some time to kill at lunchtime on a Saturday and decided to take a drive out to North Plains & give this Rogue location a try. There was maybe a handful of other couples in the place so it wasn't loud and the service was friendly and quick. I have a feeling this place really gets hopping on Friday & Saturday nights and I heard they often have live music. They have a variety of beers, both their own and other local breweries on tap along with some national brands (if you really want to drink a Coors Light for some reason...). The Hubs ordered their Club sandwich with was GIGANTIC and delicious. He upgraded his side to their onion rings which were beer-battered (I would hope so!) and were very good, too. Seriously, 2 people could easily share the Club Sandwich...it was cut in 4 sections and each section was a sandwich in and of itself with the amount of stuff it was loaded with. I ordered their Shroom City burger (1/3 lb) which was also very good and I had it with their regular fries which are skin-on fresh fries, Yum-O! They didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked so I assumed it would come out medium and I didn't ask (I know some places just serve burgers medium)...it arrived medium-well so I think next time I will ask for medium or medium-rare if the server doesn't ask. It was still darn good, though...topped with plenty of perfectly cooked mushrooms, quality Swiss cheese and lettuce/tomato on a local sourdough bun (which did a great job holding up to all the toppings and stayed together). Not directly pub-related, but the town it's in is a nice little town with some beautiful huge murals painted on the sides/front of several of the buildings. We took the scenic route back to Portland, avoiding the highway, and it was a beautiful drive on a few winding roads...I definitely recommend taking a non-highway route to or from if you have the time to take the slower route.

Ouch. This place is not worth it. One waiter, one cook. Order at the bar. The place is filthy, we asked for a towel to wipe our own table. Our order hadn't been made after an hour, so we paid for our beer and left. Totally not a part of the Rogue Nation. FAKERS. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in a restaurant. EVER.

Unfortunately, the way we were treated made us feel anything but welcome. Our 3-year-old was playing with the toy bin they provide for kids inside, while we were mainly gathered outside. Like any toddler, he made a mess, but I was mindful of it and cleaned up after him when asked. About 15-20 minutes later, I noticed the entire toy bin had been removed. When I asked the staff member (manager?) why, her response was curt and dismissive--essentially saying she was tired of cleaning up after kids. She even said she "had kids too," but the tone felt more like scolding than understanding. I explained that we come to places like this because they advertise themselves as family-friendly. Instead of hospitality, we were made to feel like a burden, as though children weren't actually welcome. The worst part was overhearing her continue to talk about us to others while we were still there. That crossed the line from unprofessional to just plain rude. We ended up leaving and taking our business elsewhere. For parents constantly searching for places to enjoy a beer while their kids have space to play, I can confidently say Heater Allen is not it. If you don't want children there, don't advertise as kid-friendly--it's misleading and creates an experience that feels hostile for families.

Several tables were full on a Friday at 1:30, which we took as a good sign! Shortly after we sat down, we were greeted by our waitress, who also seemed to be the bartender and the busser. There were a few dirty tables that stayed that way the entire time we were there, and I honestly think she was just overwhelmed trying to do everything herself. Service was okay, but she definitely seemed stretched pretty thin. We both ordered the Fiddy Fiddy Burger, and it was packed with flavor. The fries came out hot and crispy, which is exactly how fries should be. My only complaint really comes down to personal preference--I'm a smash burger girl and prefer a thinner patty. This was definitely a thicker burger than I normally go for, but all in all, it was an excellent burger. I would definitely come back if I was in the area again. Sometimes a random Yelp find turns out to be a good one!

It was quite an adventure of discovery! I was blown away by the quality of their food. I enjoyed their brews and food on many a cold, dark night outside, dressed in hat and coat, during those early days of Covid. I've been back a few times since then and just enjoyed another great meal. So it's time for an update! While I usually go for the Dubbel or the Grand Cru, this time I had the Imperial Stout and greatly enjoyed it. Also enjoyed another terrific Mazama burger. What struck me on day one and what continues to be true all these years later is the Excellence they demonstrate in everything they do. The beers are creative and first rate and are part of a long tradition. The food far exceeds typical pub fare. I usually have to trek to downtown PDX to find pub food of this quality. I greatly enjoy the Mazama burger. The Bavarian Pretzel is amazing. And the Donut Holes are terrific. They have a great menu full of small plates and entrees. I have my work cut out for me! They have a terrific modern space with plenty of tables (great for large groups) as well as a loungy area, a great bar, a window bar, and a terrific outside patio looking over the Jerry Willey plaza. Service has always been exceptional - considerate, kind, and personable. I'm grateful to be able to walk to such a great place. There is also plenty of street parking and a garage with free parking for those traveling over here. And they're a block away from the MAX stop. It's well worth the trip!

I have gotten the breakfast burrito when having breakfast and would characterize it as large, yet underwhelming in taste. None of the beers that i have tried are particularly memorable, but they are very drinkable. The service is courteous and they strive to keep the tables clean. The ordering here is done at the counter and I have found this to be a great way of taking orders in a casual establishment. This allows one to peruse the menu at a table at one's own speed, then walk up to the counter to ask any questions about the menu and then place the order. My experiences have been that the employee at the register has always been patient, informative and respectful. They bring your order to your table when it is ready. My experience is that they give you a conservative estimate of the time for preparing and the real time has been shorter. Note that I think they do a good job with turnaround times given how many customers are in the restaurant combined with their apparent significant take-out business. My dinner experiences have been very satisfying and that is what one would expect from a meat purveyor. However, they do not fumble the ball on the execution. Casual food, but tasty. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating: plenty of both. Part of the outside seating is heated and covered during much of the year.
