Amazing service. Our group had a slight wait during a busy time of the night and they very properly accompadated us. As soon as we sat down we experienced a wonderful interaction with the waiter and received quick serviced. One of our orders was slightly messed up due to miscommunication and within 5 minutes the 124 crew not only took our order back, but also replaced and made amends. It's rare that a restaurant surprises me. The other night I met a friend for dinner at Public House 124. We hadn't seen each other for a couple years so we were talking non stop. The waiter was courteous and kept the drinks and appetizers coming. For dinner, I couldn't find a vegetarian option on the menu so I asked the waiter what he'd recommend. He said to trust the chef. So I did! What came back was a delectable plate with seared veggies, mushrooms and an amazing sauce over orzo. And it was topped with a crunchy long sliver of buttered baguette. Didn't think the staff was the most accommodating. Asked for a fun place to go dancing and nobody wanted to help. Ordered a beer and the wrong beer was brought to the table. When I asked about it the waitress admitted she ordered the wrong beer and then said she wished I would have brought it to her attention sooner; as if it were my fault that the wrong beer was ordered. Great service and good food. I say it in that order because I am a firm believer that it does not matter how good the food is if the service is bad or slow or inattentive. I had the Hangar steak. Cooked perfect medium rare. Great local Cabernet paring that was suggested. I mentioned that the wine temp was a little warm, and the bartender (I ate the bar) put it in the cooler until my dinner was served. The burger here was mediocre. It was too salty and the pepper flavor just overwhelmed the meat. The bun also didn't work with the burger - wish it had a regular potato or brioche bun. The truffle fries were cut thin and had a fairly subtle truffle flavor. Overall, not impressive and expensive at $15! read more

I always want to like Public House, the food is awesome, good drink menu, pleasant atmosphere. That said, service is typically sketchy at best. After being served pretty promptly with our initial order, the rest of our time was spent trying to get service again. Incredibly long waits and then wait staff acting like they were too busy to help. Will be here again, and hope service improves. read more

As an out-of-towner from California, we received the warm welcome and wonderful food that keep us warm. The atmosphere and service was great. The food is exceptional just as expected to grab lunch and drink. Truffle fries, yes, signature burger, and a glass of wine. We had a great lunch out with local people there. Yes it was a weekend, but I didnt expect it to be that busy that late, especially with all I've heard of how good the food is in Walla-Walla. I strongly suggest the wings, actually, you NEED to get the wings, if you like asian, soy sauce, crispy goodness. These are the things for you. If I had to do it all over again, it would be 2 or 3 orders of these, they were fantastic. I ended up settling on the half chicken upon the waiters recommendation and it was surprising because it didnt take as long as it said I would have to wait for it. With that being said, it was REALLY REALLY good, but maybe not quite worth what they are charging. Definitely delicious and tasty but just not entirely sure if its worth how much they charged. Overall a really good experience, I just have a hard time believing this is a 5 star with the "talent" of food in Walla-Walla. read more

So my gf, myself and her mom were looking for somewhere to eat since we arn't familiar with the area so i just pulled up my phone and saw this place. At first i was worried looking at the menu since it wasn't that big, and the prices were kind of steep. That changed when i actually got the food, and was probably the best we ever had. I got some truffle fries and a chicken entree and it was great, my gf and her mom got the steak and they loved it. Very good fries, but our waitress was below average. From the start she was visibly annoyed with our group, she was rolling her eyes and giving us a lot of attitude. We ordered meatballs that came out very pink in the middle, our pregnant friend asked if they were fully cooked so she could eat them and our waitress was so rude to her, rolled her eyes again and made a comment about how she could put them in the microwave for a little longer if she wanted. We are the most easy going group of people and have never written a negative review, but I felt like I had to download the app and write this because we were all so disappointed with our service. read more

WOW! This place really made an impression! We got to sit at the Chef's counter which was such a fun dining experience! At first we were hesitant thinking it might get too hot right by the cooks, but it wasn't and the service was outstanding! They have a simple yet flavorful menu that consisted of small plates, flat breads, entrees, cocktails, and desserts. Loved this place! Nothing fancy but the food is fantastic. As mentioned by others, the menu is limited but that didn't matter to us. Hubby had the burger & truffle fries and it lives up to its reputation. The burger is a little messy to eat but delicious all the same. The fries are to die for! I tried the chicken wings which were amazing! If you've ever been to Portland & Pok Pok restaurant, these wings have a similar flavor. I was desperate for a burger and a beer, and trusty Yelp led me here. I asked the super friendly bartender Layton his advice on the menu, and he steered me toward the standard burger and fries. Nothing standard about either! The burger was amazing with fresh produce, sweet onions, on a bun baked that day. The fries were hand cut, and perfectly seasoned. Stopped here on a road trip, cute place with great service, but the food was way too salty. We split the Public Burger and the Chicken sandwich, (we had this served as a salad). Even the salad dressing was super salty. The chunk of fried mozzarella was the least salty thing on our plate! I realize this is all personal taste, but just know that if you have sodium restrictions, or just don't tend to salt your food much, this may be over the top for you. Also worth mentioning was that it was craaaazy loud in there, (not their fault, but maybe they could do something decorative wise for the acoustics) so if you are looking for a quiet place, maybe skip this one.
