Visited for lunch during the balloon festival. Not crowded and the food was excellent. We started with the queso and pita chips. The chips were fried and delicious. The queso was hot, temperature-wise... way too hot. Hard to enjoy at first. As an entrée I had the pastrami sliders. They came on these pretzel buns. Very fresh. My wife had one of their burgers. Perfectly cooked. She also had a pomegranate martini. They didn't scrimp on the spirits. Bonus. .. I had some work to finish and the restaurant wasn't too busy, so I took advantage of their wifi. They started out great, but every visit has gotten a little worse until Sunday was a train wreck. We wanted to take my brother out for helping us after a plumbing emergency and he likes to have a selection of interesting beers, so we thought Public House. Service was awful. The queso and pita chips -- which we loved when they first opened -- was ugly. Since the server was MIA, we asked the woman bussing the next table if they changed the pita chips. She said they had, but, "Those don't look very good." They never should have been served. She brought us new chips and the greasy originals sat on the table and the server never even mentioned them. Three tables near us were seated, ate and left before our food arrived. The meals, when they finally arrived, were so-so at best. Absolutely embarrassed to have brought my brother there. UPDATE: The owner did reach out through Yelp after I posted the review to apologize and offer an explanation. At least he's trying. read more

Our first visit was 3 weeks ago we both ordered fish and chips both meals were very good.Last night Friday the 13th I had the schnitzel my wife ordered fish and chips again.The schnitzel comes with mashed potatoes except I got 2 tablespoons of mashed and a 1/2 of a fist sized potatoe unmashed.The schnitzel was very greasey and tasteless.My wifes fish was greasey and over cooked and her curly fries were mostly broken oil soaked bits.I asked a female employe if she was the owner and she said she was the hostess.When I showed her the 1/2 fist sized piece of spud she laughed out loud until I said I did not think it was funny.I don't think we will be back.Also there are a lot of tourists this time of the year that will stop once and not return regardless of food quality but we are local and I feel there are times of the year when they would need local patrons to stay afloat. read more

Completely renovated. Posh wrap-around bar, nice new flooring, bathrooms are very nice. Feels like a brand new place (and not just "another restaurant in the same old place"). Great beer selection- there are items that I haven't found anywhere else. Super friendly waitstaff- happy to give me a sample of beer that I wasn't familiar with. No live music when we were there but it looks like they have live music three nights a week. The food was really good but (I think) overpriced. The wings were $11.50 and we got seven. Seven wings. That's $1.64/wing, which is expensive in my book. We got the maple bourbon glaze, which was good but very sweet. I'll stick with spicy wings. They also offer a couple dry rubs. I got the Mediterranean wrap and tater tots. I thought the tots were a little underdone but the gyro was good (needed a bit more of the tzatziki sauce). My husband got the sourdough grilled cheese- which was really good- but $11.50. For grilled cheese... with bacon and tomatoes and the sourdough bread is cut thick and it's grilled and tasted so good and... okay I just decided it's worth it. It's just hard for me as a frugal person to say, "Oh yeah, the $12 grilled cheese is worth it." But it was really good. We will come again but I think the prices will keep us from going often. read more

So, since my first review I've eaten here a couple times. I really want to like this place as it's close to my home, and the bartenders are amazingly friendly. But, I can only recommend it as a bar and not as a restaurant. The food is mediocre and rather pricy. The other night, I gave it one more chance. I got the NY strip steak, which was $28. OK, those aren't Peter Luger's prices, but for the Upper Valley that's still on the high end for a steak, so it should be quite good for that price. I ordered it medium rare and it came out close to well done. I rarely send food back, but this wasn't even close to how I ordered it, and for $28 it should at least be close. The bartender was very nice and got a new one cooked. Well, I really shouldn't have bothered. The replacement steak was almost inedible. I don't know what they're using to cook these steaks, but the end thirds were still well done only now the middle third was blood rare. But, regardless, the entire steak was flavorless and tough. It tasted like the kind of steak you get a the supermarket wrapped in cellophane for $3/lb. I wouldn't have even made stew with this piece of beef. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch and sat at the bar on a busy Sunday in the fall. Great draft beer selection of local Vermont Brewers, great craft bottled beer selection as well. Food was excellent, pub food. The bartender Jeff is one hardworking dude. Crowded holiday Sunday and he was the only bartender. He even found time to deliver plates to tables. Great food and atmosphere. We went on a Weds night and there was a folk singer who was quite good. I agree with another reviewer's comment on the burger. It tasted frozen or pre-made. It wasn't a juicy burger like at Worthy. My son liked the bun and curly fries. I had the chopped salad with Kale and salmon and it was fresh and delicious. My fiancé had the gyro. It was very tasty and he loved the tater tots. Morgan was our server and a doll! So I think if they can get a better burger - meatier and juicer - closer to a Worthy burger, I'd be sold! read more

Made reservations for 5pm on Saturday the night before I was planning to run the Covered Bridges Half Marathon, which I know overtakes the surrounding towns. Turns out we didn't need the reservations as we were one of only a few tables at the early dinner hour. The owner had made sure we'd be seated close to the door to accommodate my handicapped mom, which was very considerate (bonus: no stairs to get into the restaurant!). The servers and hosts were dressed up for 90s Night and looked ridiculous and the only other party seated inside near us looked to be a trashy, drunk couple, and I honestly worried this was going to be some weird, divey, Hooters-type place but my first impression proved to be wrong. The server was friendly, there were lots of local craft beers on draft, and the food came out quickly. I had the chicken schnitzel and my mom had the half rack of ribs - both adventurous choices for us. Our meals and the service were excellent, though my mom did need to request wet-naps for her rib sauce-covered hands. We even ordered dessert since I ended up being too injured to race the next morning, so I knew I could indulge - the double chocolate chip bread pudding and the fried dough sundae. I did witness the servers standing around the hostess stand and (not very quietly) talking about what I can only assume was a lousy tip left by the trashy couple. I felt bad for the server but this wasn't very professional behavior. Fortunately it didn't detract from our overall experience and I would definitely go back again if I was in town. read more

This place was recommended by the girl in the front desk of the motel where we stayed, and since it was within a few minutes of walking distance, why not. The food was decent, nothing too exciting, and for the price, the portion was pretty good too. I had the "SUPER" salad, my husband opted for scallops, my son had a ribeye sandwich and my daughter got the ribs from the kids menu. The service was pretty good too, the waitress was very friendly and checked in on us frequently. There aren't many choices in the area, and for a quick and decent meal, its not a bad choice. Fish n chips special is fantastic. Was perfectly fried leaving crispy coating and plated perfectly to prevent the normal soggy under side in fried fish. Homemade tartar sauce was impressive and slaw n curly fries we great. Also had lobster mac n cheese which was burst perfect balance of flavor which was not too hearty or overwelming. I had the pot pie, but we were all trying each other's meals and I liked them all! I don't even like fish and I liked the salmon. I like this place, have eaten here several times. Very nice waitron, put us away from crowd with my little nephew, as we requested. The food is good, the menu with 98 fonts drives me crazy but good choices. It is a little inconsistent, which is my biggest complaint with places I go to often. The fish and tots was good fish but the coating was a little dry and too crispy. My chicken schnitzel was huge and good but the sauce didn't taste like a whole lot. Had s'mores dessert, good but the marshmallows were burnt. I would have sent back but we had pushed it as far as we could with small child. read more
