Pork chop

"Fine Dining" it is not. Family dining is more accurate. Service is attentive. The menu somewhat limited. I was looking forward to some authentic New England fare. But the offerings were more like any other place in California. Only two choices at the Inn, and this one is the better of the two. High prices for mediocre food.

Chicken liver mousse was superb.

This is a review for dinner. The breakfast buffer is kinda average (3 stars) and I wish they had a non-buffet option. But here, we're talking about dinner. I ate here twice on a recent stay and both times were excellent. The setting is nice (but the floor's a bit sticky). The chairs are shaker style (I think) but getting a bit old and booths are a bit uncomfortable. But it's nice. The service was friendly and efficient. And the food was very good if the menu a tad narrow. Highlights: Chicken liver mousse: superb Special ragout de boeuf: very good Pasta dish with mushrooms: superb Asparagus starter: very good Chicken: very good, portion a bit small Fluke crudo: very good Desserts were a tad disappointing, the strawberry rhubarb thing was not good. I was afraid of the maple cake because it sounded too sweet. The ice cream was fine so keep it simple on the dessert.

Summer sunset

We had a wonderful dinner at the Red Rooster in the Woodstock Inn. We began with cocktails--the summer sunset and Porto. They were yummy. Then we had two salads-- watermelon and tomato plus a mixed green salad. Both were very good. We also shared an order of the excellent Parker House rolls. For main courses, we had mushroom risotto, bucatini and clams, grilled lamb and the heritage Berkshire pork chop. All of our mains were outstanding. Desserts included maple cake with ice cream, two scoops of blueberry lemon sorbet and a scoop each of vanilla and chocolate ice cream. DH said the maple cake was so good, the best part of his meal. The ice creams were rich and flavorful. I thought the blueberry lemon sorbet was the weakest part of my meal. The flavor was too subtle but the texture was a bit mealy from the blueberries. The meal was so good, I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great meal in a relaxing environment with good service.

We loved the breakfast each morning here as we stayed at Woodstock Inn & Resort! Every dish was delicious and the servers were fantastic! The atmosphere is clean, classy and pleasing aesthetically. This is a great place to get your start for your adventures around Woodstock.

Cheese board

This restaurant has a nice ambiance and nice serving staff. Sometimes when we travel we feel like having less carbs, so we don't feel too full as we hike or walk around....so we decided to get their Vermont Artisan Cheese Tasting, priced at $18, it was a nice selection of four local Artisan cheeses Served with candied almonds, honeycomb, and house fruit Purée. The cheeses were really good and they had a good mix of sharp and mild...it was a delightful board. It's located next to the Woodstock Inn.

Magnificent mussels!

My apologies to our amazing server Sarah for the delay on posting this review! The lovely Woodstock Inn is the wonderful setting for this charming restaurant. Bright , cheerful and comfortable! We started off with the amazing mussels with a fantastic cream sauce with a chunk of pork belly and toast points. One word...Devine.Then I had the fantastic fish and chips and my partner had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Since the tomato soup had fennel I passed on the tasting, but on the brisk Vermont day we were there is was delightful grilled cheese and it was definitely cheesy! My fish and chips were in a wonderful batter crust that was perfect. My only disappointment was the celery root slaw. It was both on texture which I like crisp and I like it tangy. It wasn't bad, just not my favorite!

We were 4 people for a birthday lunch. It's beautiful and the menu is a little farm to table-ish, and there was something for everyone. It was actually nicely plated and everything was delicious. The 1 star was removed for the service. At a restaurant in a lux hotel of this caliber I would expect more refined service. After our appetizers, our server asked us to take our dirty forks off our plates and place them back on the table. No table cloth, no placemats, straight on to the table. I was horrified. That's just the start of it. It was still a lovely experience, and the maple creme brulee was extraordinary, and that's why I didn't take 2 stars away for the server.

The Faroe island salmon was divine. Cooked perfectly. My husband had the flatbread and my brother the pasta special. All good.

We stayed at the Jackson bed and breakfast and this restaurant is attached, which worked out well. There was one night where it was too cold and we didn't want to go back out, so we stayed warm inside and walked over to O&E. Very easy and comfortable. They have a bar area and also a sitting area with a fireplace. Very cozy for a winter getaway. We had both dinner/drinks and breakfast here. Everything is curated well without losing flavor. Sometimes meals can be too fancy and you leave confused and hungry - "what the heck did I just eat and why was it only 2 tablespoons?". This place made pretty dishes with recognizable ingredients. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. The perfect, memorable spot for a vacation.

The Hamachi Crudo was a great palate cleanser as we moved onto our main course of the halibut in the house made gnocchi . Every dish was perfectly balanced in flavor and artistic in presentation. The dining room is beautiful and we look forward to next visit and maybe we'll save room for dessert . For a brand new restaurant everything was flawless, including exceptional service from Wendy and the team.

The hostess was incredibly personable and sweet. I'd had a crap day and really just wanted a beer. It was 5 minutes to close. I figured it wasn't going to happen, but I figured I'd look at their draft menu for the next day and get an idea of what I'd want to eat when I come back. Not only did they take great care of me and get me a MUCH needed beer, but when I came back to eat the next day it got even better! I couldn't decide which beer I wanted. The girl was SO nice and gave me half of each. Good call, because I definitely liked one more than the other! Now HERE is the BEST PART: the worthy burger. Sweet Jesus. I heard angels. Seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had. Ever. The bun was perfect and THOSE PICKLES! The cheese was perfectly melted. Just the right amount of secret sauce. Did I mention the pickles were amazing? I also ordered truffle fries with Parmesan and a kid size order of the Mac and cheese. Because real cheese. They weren't bad. The truffle fries were on the milder side, but tasty. Maybe a little soft. Pro tip: get the pesto aoli to dip! I like homemade Mac and cheese and I hardly ate more than a few bites. I had heard great things but eh. Maybe I was just in love with the burger! I didn't get a picture. My phone died and I couldn't wait do yourself a favor- get the worth burger with some extra pickles on the side!

I'm honestly shocked the reviews are so bad. While I wouldn't say this was the best "hotel meal"…read moreI've had, it also was far from the worst. We had a 7:00pm reservation and were seated in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered the parker house rolls, tuna carpaccio, and beet & apple salad to share/start. All three were great but I personally liked the rolls and carpaccio more. For mains, my sister got the cod, mom the oxtail, and myself the duck. I didn't try the cod. The oxtail was just okay, a bowl of pasta with meat. Mine appeared to be the most innovative of the 3 but even then was an odd combination of flavors. I had a glass of red wine (pinot noir) to go with my duck & it was passable at first but got pretty hard to finish near the end. At this point we were still hungry & I was yearning after the shishito peppers I saw earlier on the menu. I was so happy when it came out & appeared to be the crowd pleaser. Though not innovative, the flavors aligned just right. For dessert I had to get the profiteroles for the pumpkin element on a fall "leaf peeping" trip. These were unlike anything I've tried and so I definitely enjoyed these. Was definitely a highlight of the meal. Overall, not too bad but also not "elite". Given its Michelin key designation & the Chef's James Beard recognition, I'd expect much more. Additionally, service wasn't positive because it seemed like everyone had an attitude (not that it was lacking at all though).

It seems to be the same kitchen as the Red Rooster, but the quality is far below standard, and prices are exorbitant. The walnut-crusted trout. Fully coated fish filet that was over salted and burnt. It was like eating a salty fish cracker. Actually there was no fish taste whatsoever. Served on a bed of lentils and other veggies. The sauce was a complete mismatch with the salty fish stick. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The chicken wings. Over fried. So hard they are inedible. There was a casserole with cheese and cauliflower. Decent, but ordinary. The only bright spot to our meals was the clam chowder was ok. After a day of snowmobiling you're pretty hungry and will eat just about anything. Sorry, but the quality at Richardson's Tavern left us hungry for more.

We were looking for a nice place to eat after skiing in Killington (~30 mins away) and managed to get a spot at the bar the day of. I highly recommend calling in advance since they have a lot of regulars that I'm sure will be coming here for the last couple of weeks they stay open. You can order food as a 3 course prix fixe that includes an appetizer, house salad and an entree or you can do à la carte but they do not write the individual prices on the menu (so just be aware if cost is a factor). Food is definitely on the pricier side but food was good. We especially enjoyed our entrees -1) Carté d'Agneau Royale ($10 extra): grilled lamb wrapped with mushroom duxelles and spinach in puff pastry and 2) Duck Breast with a Blackberry Basil Hayden demi glace. I'm not a salad nor a bleu cheese person, but their house salad was surprisingly good!
