I had a unit on R street in Auburn. We store commercial supplies-no food. We noticed that we had rats in the unit that came out of the ceiling and a neighboring unit. We informed the staff- we can file a claim and receive $200.00. Maybe fixing the problem would be a better idea. We chose to move out and noticed condensation-lots of it in our unit. We were unable to get in our unit to get our supplies for work because of a gate issue. Staff is on the clock trying to get rolling and to the job. Still not able to get in the property on 2 different days-which we have daily access. Calling the number for management did nothing. This is not a storage facility-it is a rat infested problem zone. read more

The website. Seems it comes time for my first payment instead of driving down I'll try to do it online. That's when it gets better not only during the month I've been there, when they upped my rate for insurance, now there's a fee to pay your bill $10 over the phone $20 through a representative or spent 45 minutes logging on and doing it free at the website. I had planned on being out of there by the end of this month definitely by the end of next month. I refused to enroll in auto pay and it seems the robot cash register didn't like that, kept sending me back to auto pay. PS always squeezes an other nickel out you somehow. I will definitely be ending our business relationship by the end of next month. You got your last blood it out of me. You're a quagmire of a website? Let me start by saying that they will increase your monthly fees without your knowledge, so better prepare yourself for that surprise. Of course, this will have a huge impact to most of us who have little to no extra money for that increase. Second, getting ahold of anyone is a complete and total waste of time. Calls and emails end up somewhere far beyond the unknown part of the universe. Where that might be, God knows. And when you decide to visit the location of your chosen storage facility, at least where we are, they are, of course, closed even on business hours because why not, right? Why would they be open on business hours? That is probably too much to ask. Well, maybe they'll do better. Maybe not. But if you are a potential customer and think of doing business with these guys, I strongly suggest that you DON'T. It is not worth your time, energy, and money. Our price keeps increasing, we're at $150/month now. Our stuff is ruined bc of what I only can assume is mouse or rat poo. I called and was asked if we store food in there. Um no. She asked if our mattress was wrapped in plastic, yes it is. She offered me a dust pan and broom and asked if my camping equipment was covered. It's covered in the bags/sacks they are designed for....sleeping bag bag....tent bag. However, there are diseases associated with rat and mouse poo that I am not willing to risk. We will be getting our ruined stuff out immediately, probably next week. Beware. read more

I have two large places there, pay them quite a bit. everything was ok. Nothing special, nothing too bad. They just didn't want to give me the first free month advertised , then after 4 months, I get an email. Rents gone from 179 to 221. That's a $42 increase. Over A 20% increase in the 5th month. It's simple "get you if they can". They know you have a ton of stuff in a large storage, and won't move it for 42 bucks. Oh yes I will. Calling the moving guys. Principle matters when doing business with people. This isn't the type I want to do business with. Started by not giving me my first free month for three months. Kept charging me. Telling me, it's going to be next Month. The 3rd time I got angry, they reversed the charges. They're revenue greed isn't a pleasant experience. I moved to southern california from the Auburn area and needed to put most of my belongings into public storage. I picked this property because it was literally across the street from my apartment at the time. Now that I'm in southern california, I needed to coordinate multiple PODS containers to be dropped off on the premises and also movers to come to move the stuff from my storage unit into the pods containers so it can be shipped to me in southern california. Clearly, the distance makes it difficult to coordinate all of this. Adria was awesome in working with me every step of the way, and actually went above what she needed to do in order to accomodate my needs. She's out of the office often because she's elsewhere on the grounds but she's very quick to get back to you if you leave a message. If you need a convenient storage location AND excellent management then this place is awesome. cant recommend highly enough. read more

I set up everything online and paid online. It was very easy. I wasn't able to get to the unit for about a week and promptly received an email letting mw know my unit was unlocked and asking if was everything ok. I finally was able to go yesterday and it was secured. When I opened it up my new lock and keys as well as my insurance paperwork was neatly inside. Couldn't be any easier. Grounds are clean. Units are secured. Plenty of lighting and cameras. Floor to roof secured walls so no one could sneak in and steal my items. This is easily the best facility i have ever stored at. Price is average to many other places. No complaints. Thanks for making the process so easy. Oh did i mention i can open the gates and other doors with Bluetooth on my phone. So i don't have to exit my truck and if you ask me that increase in safety is totally worth it. read more

I had the same problem with rat feces and urine and chewed up clothing and books. They don't have any barriers to stop rats from going from one unit to the next. They can come in by the roll up door and can climb over the wall as there is nothing to stop them. PS also raised my rent twice in the year and a half I was there. Yes the manager is nice but the company sucks to keep letting this go on and do nothing about it. Save your money and go somewhere else if you value your stuff! read more

Only stored here for 3 months and over half of our possessions are now destroyed because of the RAT problem here. Today I went to grab something out of the unit and noticed rat droppings covering the unit, our boxes ate through, our couches and bed ate through with piss and droppings throughout. One of our boxes had a sealed bottle of bleach, which was ate through so in turn bleach was poured everywhere, which destroyed all the paintings we had stored. When going to report this to the manager on duty, there was another family in the office who was experiencing the same issue! The office lady was very nice, but obviously was aware of this problem as she was not shocked by either of our stories. Our insurance better cover this, we are not pleased at all. If you like RATS, this is the facility for you! Look, I'm not big on leaving reviews, especially negative ones. But I'm down right pissed off. My unit is over run with rats. I open the door and several of them scurry off. My stuff is chewed, droppings everywhere, and boxes literally SOAKED in urine. I actually work for a pest company myself, and the fault lies on Public Storage here. There are gaps under several doors, where rats can get in. I know this kind of thing can't always be prevented, but I would expect the company to take some responsibility when I bring it to their attention. You know what was offered to me? They noted in my account that I have authorization to use their dumpster to throw away damaged things. ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?! Barely even an "I'm sorry".. "Go ahead and throw away your stuff. We will let you use our dumpster"... That's it. When I spoke to the regional manager, I told him that the use of a dumpster is not exactly an appropriate resolution. I've been a customer for over a year, and pay $200/month for a storage closet. Can I get a discount for a couple months? Something to make up for all this work I'm going to have to put in, the things I have to clean, the things I have to throw away. He responded, "I'm sorry, we don't do that". Such a shame that a so called "reputable" company would treat someone like this. Now I have to pay to move my stuff, the fees to move into another location, AND see what I can salvage out of my rat piss soaked belongings. Do yourself the favor, skip this place. People in office are very friendly. That i the only thing that earned 2 stars. As for the units themselves ( as i have 2 units) we recently opened them an found that there was large amounts of RAT FECES, all over both storage units. Not only were boxes that hold paintings gnawed on but stuffing from a piece of furniture were being pulled out for what I'm sure the rats probably used as bedding for babies!!! On both occasions when i called I was asked the same questions others have been asked, ie did you wrap your furniture in plastic, did you put any food into storage area, to which I answered yes my stuff was wrapped in plastic but I don't believe plastic wrap will make a world of difference if they are chewing holes to get into my artwork that was boxed and sealed. As for food I would have to be an idiot to leave food in a storage locker when you know rodents will find it in the unit, also we were strictly forbidden by rules of public storage not to store food items, chemical etc. in the unit. Oh, yes I forgot I was offered a dustpan and broom to clean the RAT POOP out of my units. Now even though I am not ready to move my things to my new home in AZ. I am scrambling trying to find someone to load my stuff up and take it to my new place. I am profoundly upset because the office staff is obviously aware that this Public Storage is riddled with RATS, SEE OTHER REVIEWS!!!! I also will have to make some hard decisions as to what I can keep and use as there are SOOOO many diseases associated with RATS AND OTHER RODENTS!! Advise you to check not only this storage facility but all others as all they care about is getting their monthly fees. Which are not cheap. I'm paying over $500.00 a month for the priviliage of having RATS use my furniture!! Our local business used this Public Storage facility in Auburn for the last five years to store our documents. Adria was always very helpful whenever we had a need to talk to someone in the office. We had no issues with our storage unit and only moved out because our need for storage of these documents came to an end. I created a YELP account today just to report how displeased I am with Public Storage in Auburn......Was storing furniture for 2 months while I was moving into newly remodeled home. Was told furniture would be safe as long as plastic barrier was put on the floor to prevent moisture. Also purchased the moisture preventative bucket from Public Storage to prevent anything from happening to my furniture. Went to pickup my furniture a week before I bring home my new born baby and find out that rats have been all over my furniture and inside the items I had wrapped in plastic, leaving thousands of droppings and urine everywhere. I contacted the manager onsite immediately to come take a look at the mess inside my unit. I was told that they put live traps out to prevent rats but they can't do anything about them. I was told they have a bucket and gloves if I want to pick up all the droppings. Then I was told they will leave the trash open at the front so I could throw the plastic away after I clear out my unit, what great customer service!!! This was never mentioned when I purchased my unit that they have a rat issue and to not store anything that I want to use again. On top of this I purchased their insurance that they recommended that says it covers up to $3,000 in case anything was to go wrong that damaged my furniture. Insurance company is now telling me that they can only reimburse up to $150 ($100 deductible) in damage because that is all vermin is covered to. Quote to cleaning the furniture is $260 so I am stuck having to pay to repair the hole in the side of my couch. My baby son cannot be around this furniture that cost me over $2500 just 2 years ago. My recommendation is to not use this storage facility or any other Public Storage facility until they are honest with issues they have on their lots. I have been renting a storage unit here for 5-6yrs.and have not 1 thing good to say about it.over this time a lot of my stuff has been damaged and miss handled during a door replacement.i have a 24hr.acess unit and was told after being here a few yrs.i was not allowed to break down or work on any of my things here to make them fit.after all the time I have been here it's still all about $ to them.they do not hesitate to lock you out for being a minute late.then tack on the late fees making it even harder to get back in.when you try and get you bills paid there usually on break or not in the office.when they talk to you they do remember your name but then act stupid when you tell them your locked out.they act surprised like they know nothing about it.then when you pay the same person knows rite where the keys are and even which unit your in.the same person who most likely put the lock on in the first place and then knows nothing.there not real here and put on a fake smile you can see rite through.as soon as it's time to get off work.there gone rite to the minute,whether there's a customer wanting to pay or not and the funny thing is I believe they live on site.do everything possible to avoid getting a storage unit.its a racket,a money pit they make it very difficult to ever get your things out of.i almost forgot,once you have your things in,they start raising your fees $20 minimum each time on a regular basis.at least once a year if not more.its been a rough road for me the past 6yrs.and they have done nothing to make it easier.but today I start moving my million dollars of personal crap out.i hope you read this and take it all in.Im totally serious and not joking about anything.this is the straight truth.so help me GOD! read more

This place is horrific me my daughter and husband were in a horrific car accident by a drunk driver .my husband had to get his leg amputated and my 10 year old was in a coma for 2 weeks. We were two months behind and yes i should have remembered but when your family is literally dying in front of your eyesyou dont think about anything else. I went in two days ago to pay in full just to find out the auctioned of my entire belongings. I had everything i owned in there except our beds. We had 22' tires with rims worth at least 5,000 . I asked her please ti contact the person who has the property and ask for the pictures of my children and pics of when me and my husband were little.she said that she could not even though on the p.s. website under the autions they say they could. I asked why they did it after only 2 months and she replied to make up the lost rent,when i asked how much they got for my stuff she said 5dollars. Talk about whatever heart i had left shattered all the way 5$ now we are expected to pay hundreds more to them on top of my million of dollar hospital bills and i dont even get my babies treasured things .who can be so hateful.i had their art supplies since they learned to color and will never have their baby movies or pics ever again .
