I was waited on by Sharonda. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. I was pleasantly surprised to find out she has only been employed there for a few weeks! The manager was Maurice and he was also super friendly! He also went out of his way to assist me with having a cart available to me after hours that evening. The facility is clean and well lit. The only negative is that the carts are locked up after the staff is gone for the day. Sadly, I was told this is due to prior thefts of the carts, but the 5 star service would make me recommend this facility to anyone searching. read more

We have had no issues with this place except the rates have gone up in the past year and a half that we have stored our stuff with them. We have found the staff helpful and courteous and have not had a problem with the gates or elevators not working. (We really don't come and go a lot though.) Reserved online at 7am on the 24th. The property manager called me a few minutes after they opened to confirm and completed the application in a few minutes after my arrival. I was able to view a couple of different options and choose the one that was best suited for my use. The facility provides parking which is great for it being in the 60605. Not sure about the other reviews, everything has worked fine. It's absolutely common/standard that there are no dumpsters to throw out your boxes. It's a storage facility, not a dumping ground. Pros: * Gated parking for vehicles, so you can park and unload stress free * On-site manager * Safe Cons: * There is a pretty obnoxious smell, particularly on 7. Make sure your items are air tight * There is a sign that says the carts are only available only when the office is open. Not ideal since that's pretty inconvenient for most people * You have to get out of your car to access the gate code. It would be safer and easier if I could just roll down my window read more

Terrible facility. Elevators constantly out, NOT temp controlled and ridiculous rates. Usually don't do reviews but this place is that bad.

This place is super convenient to our apartment and since we don't have much storage, we needed to get a unit here. I always find storage places to be more expensive than I think they ought to be, and this place is no different, but their rates are competitive with other places in the area. NEVER store your things at this facility. My mother kept her belongings here for 6 1/2 years and paid on time each month. When we went to pick everything up in October, we noticed boxes had been sliced open and random items strewn about the unit. As we began to unpack the boxes we noticed a significant amount of stuff was missing or placed in the wrong boxes. Just a glimpse of what is missing: - my grandfathers tin toys from his childhood - All of our kitchen equipment (pots, pans, silverware, plates etc) - 4 boxes of DVDs and my mothers CD collection - A stereo - My great grandmothers crystal bowl - A Tiffany lamp - My mothers artwork and my great grandmothers artwork This is not even HALF of what they took. We know it was an employee and we are pretty sure we know who it is. What sort of imbecile thought we wouldn't notice??? These were personal, cherished possessions that we will never be able to replace. I'm just writing this now because as we were digging though my mothers art supplies tonight, we found a cutting board in between old art work and other supplies which was obviously NOT put there by my mother while packing things up. We've found other objects in random bags.. I am so beyond pissed at the person who did this and Public Storage for not recognizing the severity of this situation. A note to employees, if you take this post down like you did with my mothers, I will post again and have all my friends post as well. read more

This place is awful. It looks and smells like garbage and you also get treated like trash. One guy was so rude to me every time I was there that I eventually had enough and moved out that day. He ruined my day every time I needed to go there. When I upgraded to a larger unit he told me I couldn't leave until I switched everything over. By myself. I had no way of hydrating so I left anyway. There are no trash cans. The place is so dark you can't see anything and the automatic lights go off every 2 minutes, so if you actually need to organize or stay in your unit longer than that you're literally in the dark. The carts are always chained up so if you need to use one before or after office hours you're out of luck and it seemed like every time I needed one, the office person was nowhere to be found. Do yourself a favor and go to the Safeguard Self Storage across the street. It's clean, well lit and they have indoor parking so you don't have to deal with rain or snow. read more

The location is convenient and the office staff has generally been very pleasant but we have had horrible experiences with this facility. In addition to broken elevators and broken or missing carts, the rates on our unit rose by over 25% in less than 3 years. The management offered us a comparable unit in the basement. We moved in June and rate went up in July by 10%! But our absolute biggest complaint is that the sump pump apparently does not work properly so that when it rains, there is water running down the walls and into our unit. I pulled out moldy cushions, boxes that were soaked and framed pieces that are damaged because of water that apparently drained into the unit after most storms. The management at first denied the problem (hard to ignore the mold, corrosion around the pipes and sediment on walls), but then took no responsibility at all for our damage or in getting the building repaired. If you value your belongings, look elsewhere for storage. There are plenty in the neighborhood. Wish we had moved our things out sooner!! read more

Our possessions were destroyed at this location!!! We want to inform any individuals looking for storage that this location is content to hide behind its "no liability" clauses that you sign and agree to in the contract while your possessions could fall victim to water, mold, and humidity. The company sells insurance to tenants, but told Willis Insurance that issues it that our claim is for flood damage. We did NOT have flooding damage from July rains; we believe they know we had water damage from faulty plumbing that has resulted in at least six months of mold growth. Employees admit to us we have a very valid water damage claim that should be paid out. The City of Chicago's waterworks department confirms no backed up sewers in this area. A variety of different employees quietly inform us that management is well aware of water problems at this facility and choose to not fix them and instead tell each infuriated customer that the contract absolves them of any and all responsibility.Management refused to view our damage or refund our rent. We have almost no items, no insurance paid, and no rent returned. We have nothing left. Do not deal with this company or managers Alice Dipiero and Marie Iacono. If you store your items here, be prepared for a long and likely litigious battle, as such a commitment will be necessary if/when your items are lost to recoup any money. You will be fought hard by this company to avoid paying you one cent back. The front staff is GREAT-- friendly and incredibly helpful-- but that is the best that I can say about this Public Storage facility. Countless times over the past few years that we stored here (don't ask why we stayed so long!!!?!?!) the elevators did not work, carts were not available after office hours, or the keypad to allow entry was broken. The last straw was my move-out this week when my movers (who were being paid $100/hr!) had to use the narrow basement stairwell to move us out because the basement elevator was broken (and had been for the past few days). When the District Manager finally called, he resisted crediting me $29 for our prorated April storage, first explaining that since only one unit was affected by the broken elevator, he would only credit us $14. To argue over the remaining $15 seemed ridiculous to me. We are overjoyed to find ourselves now at a new storage facility... Only sorry that we waited so long to move out. read more
