While their corporate business model is difficult on long-term renters (consistently raise rates) it's understandable for a publicly traded company. She's a consistent friendly and professional presence throughout the property. Terrible location. Not only did the price of our storage unit go up without notice two times in the past couple months, but the property employee Liz made me feel verbally assaulted by the time I was done talking to her. Not only has Liz managed to harass me nearly every last time that I have come to storage, but she has done things to make me feel dismissed and uncomfortable including walking into my unit. Today she tried to twist my words and when I caught her Attempting to put words in my mouth and twisting what I said, she put her wrinkly finger in my face and said "yes you did you said that!". She didn't let me speak. She spoke over me, making threats of twisting the situation saying that I could get kicked out For having work equipment in storage? The way she spoke to me was completely disgusting and unprofessional interrupting me speaking over me making subtle threats. She kept saying "well that's how you feel and that's how you're taking it" and other dismissive disgusting sentences like that. She also said that they don't write around for no reason and that if they say hi, it's because they are trying to look at the content of our storage unit which it didn't take a mad scientist to figure that out. When I told her that my job was making adult content and that i just come here for equipment she freaked out assuming I made it in storage?!! When I originally booked this online with the customer service number, we went over that I needed a 5 x 10. When I got my rental agreement, it was for a 5 x 5 and I wasn't overly happy about that. When I called in, they were quick to get me into another locker that was the appropriate size The woman was great at walking me through what I needed to do for that portion on the app and to get things signed I had to go in for a lock since they traded locker spaces with me The woman who helped me was very kind and explained to me some things that I didn't catch on the contract. I was happy that she let me know this because it saved me from a headache down the road potentially as I didn't know you couldn't put food in there. It was only two bags. But still, it's best not to have mice.! She also got me set up in the computer system appropriately, and I believe she also credited my account the appropriate amount which I'll find out from my bank statement in a few days . Public Storage - Self Storage Near Me - Federal Way, Washington

Terrible. Disgusting. Violated. Infuriating. These are words I use to describe my experience at this storage unit. About 3-4 months after moving my personal belongings and family heirlooms into this storage unit, it was burglarized and infested with rats. I'll describe my nightmare below: About 3-4 months after we got the unit, we entered it as we normally did. The lock was in tact (photo below), and from the outside there was nothing out of the ordinary. (Note: Public Storage requires that you use THEIR locks. This is part of how they profit from you). Once we entered, however, we discovered that the contents of the unit were disheveled, disorganized, and toppled over (photo below). The unit was covered in rodent feces, urine, and fur. It took me a while to discover that my belongings had been stolen. Out of the things that were stolen included a $450 inflatable kayak, $200 air compressor, $1000 trumpet, my grandfather's tools (est. $200 worth), my $200 drill/driver set, and probably a few other things that I haven't accounted for yet. (Note: make a register of things you store before you store them). I reported the burglary to Federal Way Police, and they indicated that since no suspect was suggested that I simply file a report with my storage insurance company and call it a day. This Public Storage location apparently has issues with transients booking a storage unit and trespassing into nearby units to burglarize them of their valuables. This is plausible, given that the storage units have a 1.5 ft tall hole between the units near the ceiling of the unit (shown below). We believe that the burglary was either the doing of transients or employees of Public Storage. There was no damage to the lock... so if it was entered from the front, it must have been someone with a key. (Note: the only keys were mine and Public Storage's). Anyway... besides the burglary: the entire unit was covered in rat feces, urine, and fur. There was even an entire rat carcass nested within the unit (photo shown below). Books, blankets, furniture, clothing... All of this covered in rat excrement. Tell me: how you would feel seeing the majority of your earthly belongings and family heirlooms either stolen or covered in rat excrement? This storage unit was a nightmare. Do not ever consider storing your belongings here. I would have rather thrown them in the garbage than pay $110/mo to have them stolen and infested with vermin. read more

Steven is probably the worst person I have ever met. We arrived to claim an online reservation and Steven was nasty the moment we walked in. After telling us unit was leased by someone else we asked if we could see other units. You'd think we asked for Steven to run a marathon based on his horrible attitude. Yes we were asking him to do his job. After noting his horrible attitude Steven goes "well you're ugly" to my wife!!! Yes he actually said that. In what world is that okay? So from letting our unit go to calling my wife ugly ... it's safe to say Steven isn't very happy being a Public Storage employee. I truly hope someone sets him straight. Also while we were touring the location there was a unit broken into. Just do yourself a favor and stat away. When I moved out, I was in a rush to get out and got 2 units by mistake, because I wasn't in the right state of mind. The promo $1 for the 1st month went to the unit none of my stuff was in that ultimately got canceled. Beware of rodent damage!!!!!! We have been renting a 10 x 20 unit here since approximately February 2018 and up until now I have not had any issues. I checked the unit which only contains furniture and boxes of household goods and clothes about six weeks ago and everything looked good, but when I went last week the unit was covered in rodent feces and you could see that the rodents had been chewing on the moving blankets that were covering the furniture. I went to the front office and spoke with a gentleman there. I requested that special attention be given to the unit for rodent control and he advised me that the next time Terminix would be in there would be in July and that Terminix covers all of the units, so there is no need for any special attention to my unit. Obviously, this was very frustrating. He also advised that he could not put any rodent traps near the unit as it would just draw more rodents. Of course, given the terminology in the leasing agreement there is no recourse for the owner of the storage unit for any damages. Not sure why all of a sudden we had rodent issues as for the past two years we have had no issues, but it definitely is a problem now! read more

Called and told them that I would be moving my stuff out on the 13th. The manager told me that I still needed to pay a full months rent. I asked would I be refunded for that days I did not stay there and was told no. It doesn't matter if you move out on the 5th you still owe a full months rent. I then asked if I could move to a smaller unit and was told yes AFTER i pay I full months rent for the unit I'm currently in. Mind you this was on the first of the month. Why would I pay a full months rent on a unit I'm not going to be in!?!? They then tried to charge my card 218.00 for the unit. I lock my cards so it didn't go thru. I went online and paid 126.00 which 10 minutes later they tried to run my card for 218.00! Why if I JUST paid 126.00 of that 218!!! The manager then proceeded to call me to inform me that I know owe 134.00 on top of the 126 I just paid and my gate code is deactivated until I pay it. I will be paying the 134 and getting my stugf out IMMEDIATELY!!!! This company is a scam company who charges you for units that you won't be in, over charges you, locks you out of your unit and makes you pay ridiculous late penalties to get back in. DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE!!!!!!!! Go some place else!!!!! read more

The old man working at the front dest thought we were leaving extra furniture behind on the day we moved out, when actually we were coming to the office to ask if they had a dumpster we could use because the two pieces of furniture wouldnt fit in the van and we didnt want to drive all the way to seattle just to come right back. He didnt ask us the situation he just assumed we were littering. I kept the lock and key and put the two pieces of furniture back in my unit and told them "I'm not leaving yet". Because I forgot to put the lock on when I left, they are trying to charge me $250 because the unit was abandoned. How can the unit be abandoned if I still have the key and specifically told them I would be back next week??? I dont care if I'm charged another month. Thats totally reasonable, but to assume is wrong on their part and I never even received a phone call. DO NOT RENT HERE! read more

I've been more than satisfied with using this particular storage facility, in large part due to Liz, who is the property manager. Liz has always gone out of her way to help me figure out the best unit size for not only the amount of boxes and furniture I have, but also keeping my budget in mind. The facility is kept clean and secure, and the unit doors were recently painted. Whenever I have questions Liz stops to answer them, and does so with knowledge, care and friendliness. On site management is great to work with, but the corporation is not. My unit was on the third floor. I was scheduled to move out just before Thanksgiving. Elevator broke down leaving me stuck until 02 February. Ended up having to pay for the whole month of February even though I couldn't move out until the 2nd because of the broken elevator. Corporation was in no hurry to do repairs. While Brandon and and Janet, the on site managers are 1st rate, I would never trust Public Storage again. read more

We stored almost everything we owned. Family Heirlooms. ,2 bedroom apartment worth of furniture. TVs (42" & 65,). 2 Dyson vacuum cleaners and who else knows what else is gone. We organized that unit so we knew where everything was. We get a call late on Sunday night that our unit had been broken into. They didn't cut the storage units supplied lock the cut the hasp that holds the lock. EVERYTHING in our unit is a total mess Every box was opened and thrown all over. It was just devastating We called the police and made a police report for there NO GOOD STORAGE UNIT WE TOOK OUT. I have contacted there NO GOOD ROTTEN "ORANGE DOOR INSURANCE". I have contracted them 6 times with absolutely NO RESPONSE. We lost over $3000.00 worth of items that we know of. This made us feel like we were personally violated. Our belongings were stored in there while we bought a house. No video tapes of the outside at all. The manager was nice. But we think she should could of helped us out more. She sells the Insurance, she should be able to write up the items stolen and the authority to pay us for our lose. I am positive once we finally get in there and start re-packing we will find more precious items damaged or gone. If only we had known we would of went with an in door facility. The customer service at this location today was phenomenal. Liz, the property manager, was kind as well as thorough. She was easy to work with and it was great working with someone who was so competent and had all the answers! I highly suggest renting storage from here. :READ THE FINE PRINT: I rented a unit which cost me $180 a month so with insurance all together $191 a month. Six months later to be exact i go in to pay the bill and its went from $191.00. To 222.00 a month. I go in and question the storage employee and he said to me that every 6 months they do a review and have the option to raise the rent on the unit. I argued with him that i was never informed of this. He said its in my rental agreement i received when i first moved in. My rent now is up to $ 237.00 a month. I have a lot of stuff in this unit or i would have already moved out. ( i think they bank on that) So please read the fine print before you rent from public storage. Pros: . Clean . Was able to maneuver 26' truck with car carrier. . Does have restroom on site. . Mostly decent maintenance Cons: . Limited hours. . Overpriced. . Proprietary locks that you HAVE to purchase/use. . No pro-rating if you vacate early. . $1 first month and "special rate" gimmicks Details: We filled one unit. The largest size they had. We even got a half-off-for-the-first-month rate (not the $1 crap that's plastered all over their signs and the internet). Fast forward to the next weekend... I decided, rather than playing Tetris and craming the second half of our stuff into that unit, to call see if they had another unit. They said yes and agreed to hold it over the phone as long as I came in the next day to complete paperwork. They did "hold" the unit (AFAIK they had no one interested in it so why not "hold" it for me). Well, when I came in to actually reserve the unit I was informed that the special rate only applies to the first unit that a customer rents. Gimmick/Lame. :| Rather than wait for one my friends ( a moving buddy) to show and put the unit under his name, I went ahead and just rented the unit since it wasn't worth the hassle solely because their system (or their employees, whatever) can't be flexible. Overall the units were clean. The doors were functional and maintained. The grounds were also mostly clean except for a few active projects and people cleaning out units. One of the exit keypads is STILL not beeping when you press the numbers. I read about it in a previous Yelp review from a while back. It's pretty lame that you can't replace the broken beepy part for HOW LONG?? One of our units had a 3" wood screw that was sticking out at about 3-4' off the ground. I'm not sure how that was missed on their inspection of the unit, but luckily it didn't damage any of our stuff or injur any of our moving helpers! :( So... icing on the cake... YAY, we're going ot be able to move into the new place early. We were able to get out of the one unit before the end of month payment was due. The other unit still had over two weeks left on it. Zero pro-rate/refund. Kinda lame because they are able to turn right around and re-rent the place for double income on the same unit. All in all I think I would equate this place to the U-Haul (necessary evil) of the storage world. Corporate, inflexible, soul-less. If I was looking for a long term storage option I would SOOOO look elsewhere. In a pinch... ehh... whatever :P read more

My storage unit had problems with the latch as it was stuck. The receptionist, Lillie was AMAZING. She was able to get the latch to open the door. After I was done, my door could only shut less than half way. Lillie, got her tools and ladder out and with her patience, she was not able to move the latch, but she replaced the entire part! She had called emergency services to come fix unit, but instead she had to call them off! She had never changed the enter piece ever. She was Miss Fix-it! I couldn't have done it without her. If was waiting for emergency repair, I might have stayed the night since my door was stuck more than a half way up! Thanks Lillie! GIRL POWER. read more

I'm not one to write reviews because I tend to get the exact service I pay for. With that said, I lucked out today. Times have been a financial struggle, especially being self employed and coming off of a huge loss off of a big investment. I walked in today to pay for my storage unit to find that the big bosses were at this location. My original fee was 322 and some change and my unit was scheduled to be put up for auction. I brought 325 with me. Which was literally all I have left. The late fee's piled up and came out to almost 350. I asked if there was any way to get it waived. Ariel, who was very nice about it instructed me on how to go about through the proper channels when Devin stepped in. The big boss and gave immediate approval. It was such a relief. Out of all the times I've utilized the services of Public Storage at multiple locations (prior military), this was by far my best experience with these guys.
