I booked a reservation about a month in advance for the first floor with a $5.00 24 hour access fee. When I went to secure the rental I was moved to the 3rd floor and told the 24 hour access fee had changed to $30.00 and Kyle didn't know when this had changed. Public Storage in Gilbert. As soon as I can I am canceling my service. Unethical company. Could care less. He didn't know who I spoke to and didn't see any information in the reservation. LIARS!!! read more

STAY AWAY! I signed up 18 months ago at $44 a month. I've gone through two rate increases, one for 39% and just got another one for 28%. Its now doubled to $92 in less 18 months. They know you can't do anything but pay it because the other option is having to move all your stuff again. I also tried numerous times to contact through chat and phone and the only way I could get someone to talk to me was to say I wanted to rent a new unit. Beware and don't use this company. For the past 4 years, I have rented a unit from a PS facility in Gilbert, Arizona. I have not even accessed the unit for the past 3 years, but continue to pay the monthly rent. The rent has increased at least 3 times during the time I've rented the unit, including a $60 per month increase just this month. Earlier today, I went to the unit to attempt to retrieve a few items that my grandaughter would like to help her furnish her first apartment. My key would not open the unit. First, I tried to get help from somone in the on-site office. There was no employee on duty. Then I tried to get help by calling the PS "800" number. The automated answering system is so disfuntional, that I could never through to anyone to explain my problem. Then I tried to contact a service representative via text message. After waiting more than 5 minutes for someone to reply, that person told me that my two "choices" are to hire my own locksmith to break into the unit, or two pay PS to break the lock. The representative claimed they don't have a master key, so the only option is to break in. So, after paying more than $10,000 in rent over the past 4 years, when I really need to access the unit, I am now told that I must pay a locksmith to gain access. DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE! The company is too cheap to staff its offices or provide a service representative who is available by phone; it cares so little about its customers that it maintains no backup system to provide a mechanism (a master key or dupicate keys for each unit in the office) to ensure that customers who have never missed a monthly rental payment are able to access their stored items. I'm more than 70 years old, and this is one of the worst companies with which I've ever transacted business. read more

Increased my rates for my 5x10 from $66 to $87 a month. That's more than a 30% increase. When this happened the first time, I had spoken with a manager who switched it back to $66 for 3 months, as I had informed her I would just move the items back into my house if I'm going to be charged that much for a 5x10 unit, especially given that other 5x10 units in the area were $50-$55 a month. She informed me if the median rates in the area were still around the $66 after the 3 months, that they would have it pushed back to $66 for longer, I just needed to call in and they will change it back once again. After the 3 months, sure enough the rates went back up to $87 a month and sure enough the median rates for storage units were actually less than the $66 I was being charged. I called in to ask for them to honor the promise that was made to me and was stated was filed onto my account. To my digression, they would not honor their commitment. I felt slightly taken advantage of and that getting a storage unit, along with now two tow trucks to bring items back into my house, was a complete waste of financial resources. If they couldn't honor the commitment that was made, as I stated previously to the manager, I would have preferred to cancel the subscription and bring the items back to my home. I will now always reconsider a storage unit in the future due to the waste of time and money based off this terrible customer experience. I needed this storage unit when I had to downsize my apartment and have been storing my things here for about 7 months. The unit is very clean, facility is very clean and well-kept. As a woman I feel safe when I have to come to my unit. I am moving to Texas and Heather was very welcoming and helpful when I went in to ask what I needed to do to exit the unit properly. FirFirst of all it says on the website that staff wear masks; that is not correct. When I asked the staff member to put one on because I was high risk she refused. I have only had the unit for about 6 months and they have already increased the price almost $15 per month. So they get you in at a cheap rate and then increase the price. I submitted a request to reconsider this increase as it puts me in the negative each month and they refused. I even mentioned that another location close to them has it for a lesser rate and they didn't seem to care in my opinion. I was told that I am happy to move my belongings to another unit. What happened to customer service. So many people have jobs but don't give a shit about the general public anymore, as long as they get paid they don't care. Worst experience of my life. Do not consider this company. They hook you and then raise the rates. Neither corporate or the local office will call you back. During this quarantine they insist on me coming into the office no matter the health concerns and government suggestions to stay home. They are more concerned that i will pay, cancel the payment, clear out a packed 200 square foot unit in the middle of the night that I I've had for two years, and then cancel payment. The price for a 10x25 has increased on us by $71 dollars a month within the past 12 months!!!! So now for a non-climate controlled unit we are paying OVER $200! Thats highway robbery! BEWARE of the brand new Public Storage facility at Val Vista & Germann. I am not happy with this place. We made a reservation for storage space with first month @ $1 (total move-in $25). When they wrote up the contact, they wrote it up wrong and charged us a full month's rent. (x 2 because we ended up getting two spaces). When we got home and realized they had written the contact wrong, we went back the next day and showed them our original reservation and THEIR mistake. They acknowledged that they wrote the contract incorrectly. But instead of saying, "We're sorry. We will correct our mistake." They said "because you signed it", WE DON'T have to change it. I get that "LEGALLY" they don't have to change it, but really? That's how you want to OPEN you new facility in Gilbert? I am disappointed in Public Storage. We were referred to their district manager who again said they WERE NOT going to correct THEIR mistake. The public storage facility was very clean. The company was very efficient and great at communicating prior to move-in date. There were plenty of emails and texts to confirm our reservation. Everything ran smoothly the day of move-in. The app did not work to open gate so we just used code sent to us and we brought a lock that was declined but otherwise a great experience. read more

Failed to notify in their email that they require a cylinder lock. Did not even know the size so I could try to buy it somewhere else ahead of time. On top of that they charged a ridiculous high price. I don't understand why the fee doesn't include the price to change locks every time. 20 dollars for one lock that I won't be able to use anywhere?? I also got charged an extra two days. I have have had storage units with this company for four years, every year my price has gone up, and not in small increments, each time it's $50-$80. More recently my storage unit price for a 10'x15' unit was $323 a month. I also have a 10'x13' unit for $280 a month and a 10'x10' unit for $223 a month. More recently I have run into three other people who all also had a 10'x15' unit , all have been there about the same amount of time as me, and we all pay different prices, except I seem to pay the most! One of them pays $150 he's been there 5 years, another pays $190 he's been there 4 years, and the third pays $260 around 6 years. WTH? They are all the same size in the same area. All three of them were moving out because they also found out that this company charges differently across-the-board for the same units and they were pretty upset. I hate companies that take advantage of people. My parents have a storage unit they've had for 15 years and the price has only gone up one time by $50. I recommend finding a storage unit somewhere else. read more

We had a great experience renting a unit at this location. I think the reviews before are outdated and they've made improved their service. We were greeted by two Customer Reps and both were very friendly and helpful. Ariah helped us with our order, walked us to our unit and showed us around. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. The location must be brand new because everything was immaculately clean. Not even a single dent on any of the storage doors. The location was perfect for us and the fact that everything was climate controlled really assured us that our belongings were well taken care of even in the summer heat. The location is very secure behind gated areas and had security cameras. I recommend this location. read more

Not good business practices. My brother-in-law reserved a unit on-line for my mother in law who is sickly and had to go to live with her daughter in Cali. My father-in-law just passed away a month ago, so we have to sell their house in Gilbert. When my husband and I went to secure the unit, there was one girl working. She locked up the store and showed us the unit. That's when we asked about a second unit. All was going good until we got back and she had 3 customers waiting outside. Poor girl only one working. Anyways she was in a rush to finish with us. She pulled up the reservation my brother in law made (it was the 1.00 deal with some other "charges" for the 1st month which made it 25.00). At that time she told my husband he had to have his license to reserve it and our credit card or a check. We hadn't planned on paying personally, it was suppose to be set up automatic withdrawal from my mom in laws bank account. We explained that but she said we could go on-line and edit it later. She told us this a couple times. We reiterated and she confirmed. She never disclosed we wouldn't get the deal now because my husband has a business unit at another location and when she put his DL in it linked them all together. Ended up being 170.00 - ridiculous. Husband Called customer service today spoke to a supervisor, Sheena, who after listening decided she'd stuck by her employee even though she did not disclose we would lose the deal. Husband would of had ME open it in order to get the deal if we had known. Sad day. We will be pulling out our business one asap and tell all our friends and relatives not to use THIS public storage location. This is my 2nd Public Storage location I have done and my previous experience was great, I have 2 units at this location and cancelled a 3rd in person. I have received 3 phone calls seeing if I still need it, one call from regional and now 2 from corporate. Today I explained to the guy to knock it off with the calls and he got testy with me, what a joke. Christine was passive aggressive. She was upset when she could not bait and switch our unit. The online reservation reserved a unit and Christine then tried giving us another unit. This employee is very odd, combative and continued her ranting and lying. We finally walked. This is unfortunate because we were paying up front for an entire year.
