I moved out of the 10x20 storage unit on Aug. 31st 2020. These people are leeches! They had increased the rent to $308/month last year and wanted to increase yet again to $338/month even in this Covid time when people are facing financial hardships! Unbelievable! So yes, the rent from Feb. 2017 to Sep. 2020 went up from $206 to $338! 64% increase! Shame on all of those who have no other goal in life other than making more and more $$ with no consideration for anything else.. read more

Staff: very helpful, friendly. Place for car: ample, roomy. Unit: clean, new, fresh. Autopay: Easy. Insurance: mandatory. First month Free: great. Boxes: discount if you buy in bulk, cool boxes. Special lock: must buy their special lock that fits nothing else. Great place until... THIRD month in I get a notice that my rent is going up $10/month. Three months I got the special discount the manager had been so cool to give me, and implied that it would be like that for a while. Don't be mad at the employees. I'm sure someone at the corporate office just randomly raises rents based on how bored they are. Are all storage places the same? If you really want a Public Storage, knowing they will continuously raise your rent, this one is clean and new and spacious and all my dealings with staff were positive. read more

The facility is nice and this is the second time I've opened a unit with them for temporary storage of some boxes. What really got me mad was the person that was setting me up was pushing for the insurance really hard to the point of implying that I must buy insurance through them. I told her I didn't need insurance from them as I got storage insurance through my house. I ended up purchasing it, now after I got home and confirmed with my agent, I called them up and they said they couldn't remove it over the phone and I would need to go in and do it in person. the only reason I went with this location again is because my first time around I wasn't pressured or semi-lied to like this time and also the facility is new and nice. read more

all my belongings were damaged from someone throwing somekind of liquid into my unit through the screen at the top and it stained and ruined furniture and melted plastic storage containers!! the mgr liz ann is a condescending unhelpful rude area mgr that i hope after my lawsuit will be terminated!!! this place has homless and breakins constantly beware!!! read more

The office staff is good & helpful at helping with website probs, & billing changes. The contract says they CAN raise the price every 6 months. BOY, do they! Almost $50 increase every 6 months-- gets expensive after a couple of these, with NO END IN SIGHT! The pros, automatic billing, expected now for any chain, but ti is a plus over the last storage place I rented. Cons, if you like hand carts to move things to an from your storage unit there are always some not in use... Because for some reason they decided to chain them up. Seriously? Are you just trying to taunt me with carts? Need a cart? Too bad we locked them up. They used to not be locked up. Then one day I show up and no more using carts. So what could have been done in a single trip from my car took 2. I'm glad it was just light but bulky things I had to move. Guess I'll drag my dolly along whenever I go now. read more

The facility itself gets a 5, the personnel who work there get a 4, but one in particular is why they get a 2 stars overall. The grounds are nicely maintained, landscaped well and each time I've gone into the office it's clean and tidy. The associates there are nice enough and I've never had any issues. I have my payment made automatically every month for the ease and convenience it provides. I got my receipt for the month and saw that next month my rate is supposed to go up $13 to $62/mo (still a decent deal), but online all the units my size (5x10 btw) are going for $45. The other gripe I have is that I have a ventilation shaft going thru my storage room so I don't even have the full use of the 5x10 space. So I call the office and speak with Rita who was very nice. She offered to hand me over to the manager Tiffany, and this is where they get the 2 stars. Tiffany was rude, condescending and was making comments under her breath while I was speaking. I've rented at public storage locations all across California and have never been treated like this before. Her basic message and answer on why my rate went up was "we have to pay for utilities and taxes" and when I asked to speak to corporate, her answer was "they will just tell you the same thing". Well, that will be just fine. But I could feel my blood boiling and she was just being unprofessional, so I ended the call and emailed corporate. If/when I hear back from them I might amend this review, but Tiffany alone gets 0. ***Updated review*** As of 9/16 I did get an email back basically saying "ok thanks for the complaint, I'll talk to the manager" which basically means "We won't do anything about it and she will keep treating people this way." I am also pretty sure I only got a response (via email btw, not phone like I requested) bc I called the customer service dept back and asked if the issue had been addressed. So alas...review gets knocked down to 1 star bc of the lack of customer service yet again. Why do I bother keeping my crap there? Oh right....bc it's cheaper than everywhere else and it's convenient to my house. Guess I'm dealing with an unprofessional set of people until I move again. read more

Moved our stuff out this storage facility. Food everywhere even we went back 3 days later, same food laying on floors. Cockroaches everywhere. Great place for the homeless, they seem to be living here as some sort of shelter. Tried to address complaints to Lorraine Evans the "boss" but she don't answer or call back. They give her business card but she's not on site. One of the workers Adam who signed me out let me know they have had a lot of problems here and Lorraine is probably overloaded with complaints. We rented a 20 x 20 unit on Redhill and Alton, Irvine July 10, 2019. The service at first ($233/) was okay. The rent increased to $287/ on Jan 1, 2020, and then again to $315/ on Jan 1, 2021. While the rent has increased, the service has not! It has gone downhill. We don't buy the "Covid Excuse." Carts sometimes are not available, while there is only one truck parked at our entrance besides ours. Yesterday, there was only one cart (no other trucks at our entrance), and our key to the lock on the cart did not work. We had to go to the office to get a key and return it. We will checkout as soon as we find an alternative, but in the meantime, be prepared to lug your own belongings to your space. read more

We have two storage units here, bait and switch. Our monthly rate has gone up over 25% on each unit in just six months - not affordable. This wasn't even the closest units for convenience for us but were told rates wouldn't go up more then ~10% and implied it would be a year before so. Additionally they did not hold our reservation that I made online and never told them to cancel. So on the day of move-in when we had the moving truck there we had to take a more expensive unit then we had reserved on the second floor. If you want to store long-term plan for drastic price increases and we were misled. FYI, insurance is not mandatory. We have property insurance that takes care of it (likely you may too, check with your insurance company). read more

Having been a long-time Public Storage customer at various locations throughout LA/OC, I was pleasantly surprised to see Tony at this new location which used to be the Orthodyne building a while back. Met him at another location in the area years ago and always appreciated his approach to helping all customers. So Tony came through again, this time he found an available unit that was in an ideal location. The whole sign-up process was fast, smooth, and highly efficient. When I had questions on differences in moving supplies, he recommended the new heavy duty file boxes for my move which was a better solution over the usual moving boxes for my decades of paperwork. By the way, their website makes it easy to manage your account on-line, you can make payments, setup your move-out date, make reservations, manage all your storage units on the same account. You can even re-start/stop your Autopay if you're already signed up so it saves a few trips to the office. It's probably the most functional website out of all of the storage companies. Issue on insurance: The on-site rep told me insurance is mandatory in order to move-in while the insurance paperwork stated insurance is not mandatory and the corporate office stated "the insurance program offered is optional." If you dont have proof of your own insurance, they will make you sign up with their insurance program and you can cancel later on but there will be no prorated insurance refund for your move-in month. read more

**Buyer beware**: I needed something fast and cheap. The rental process was easy and the worker who helped me was super nice and helpful. HOWEVER I've now moved in, and here's some TERRIBLE things I've noticed. There are only 2 (yes only TWO) entrances to the units. This property is HUGE and it is SO inconvenient. If you can do a very long walk then you may be okay. Here's the worst part - they say they have carts to help you haul things back and forth from your locker. I have never seen more than ONE cart for the entire property. How can I move my things into the unit in the back of the property if I have nothing available to move it on? I had a unit at a competitor for 4 years and I never had to look more than 2 minutes for a cart. They were everywhere, even on busy days! Here, there's literally only one cart, and someone is always already using it. I'm not even able to move in my unit because every time I show up, there's no carts to move my things in. My disability doesnt not allow me to carry heavy items far, so I can only take small light items. I used the $1 first month so it's not like I've lost a lot of money. But I can't move anything in without a cart. This is too inconvenient as I am unable to walk far or carry heavy items and will be moving out shortly. In conclusion, it's only worth it if you're bringing in your own flat cart and can walk super far to get to your unit. read more

My overall rating for this storage place: excellent. I love the location (in Irvine, close to many places of interest for me). This site has ample amounts of space for parking and unloading storage. It is AC/controlled, and it is easy to navigate. Also, there is excellent security, with cameras and entry code. I want to thank Tony for being so helpful and taking his time to explain the contract to me. He and his colleagues are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are an amazing example of customer service. I rented the smallest size locker, but it fitted perfectly for what I had to put in storage. read more

Worst ever... we made an appt but still waited over an hour for service. This place is huge but they only had one person handling the service desk. There were 3 people in the background with one just sitting in a chair doing absolutely nothing. They only allow two people in the leasing office at a time despite wearing a mask. We had to pay the movers for an extra two hours. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. What happened to customer service?? Unfortunately you cannot leave the stars unmarked, so I star gets posted. Good and clean facility, the price is reasonable. Secure access that requires a password. Energy-efficient sensor for all the lights. Overall a very good facility. Just want to give you guys a head-up for some other cost. I rented a 5'x5' unit, and the monthly fee is $39, but you have to pay $11 for insurance, so the actual monthly cost is $50. For the first month, it is $1 special price, but there is a $24 one-time fee, plus the $11 insurance fee, plus about $22 to buy the lock, so it turns out to be $57.59 for the 1st month actual cost for me. read more

There's a damn leak in my storage unit from the ceiling! If you have stuff on the second floor you might want to check on it. Only solution front desk told me was call for a claim and that they'd send a vendor to fix it. Bringing a moving truck next week! Horrible. read more

I've used Public Storage on and off for 13 years. Very rarely do I go into the office. Went in today as I forgot that I paid this months bill last month. The very young girl at the counter was rude and has zero customer service skills. I was polite and in a great mood but was triggered by her obvious dislike for her job. It wasn't just her tone and lack of respect for me as a client paying a bill and requesting a key for the cart, but when I asked to use the ladies room, she abruptly said 2nd lobby, use your code. Ok.... I go out to look for a second lobby, thinking it was past the 2nd door. Hmmmmm ok, long trek the wrong way and came to the gentleman from the office. He sent me the opposite way. I don't work for Public Storage.... so the correct way to give directions for someone asking where the ladies room is after you tell them the second lobby ask them if they know how to get there, when they reply no... proceed with better directions. Like... go past the first entrance to the second entrance at the other end of the building. Thank you and have a nice day. Wow.... even my 12 year old has better customer service than this young girl. Maybe she should find a job she doesn't hate. Not going to let her spoil my beautiful day and I will continue to smile at everyone I meet, even her. read more

If you need storage this is your place. I highly recommend. The customer service is amazing and the facility is nice and clean. I have used other facilities and this location by far is the best I have experienced. If you want top notch assistance ask for Krystal. *Very important* After reading my review please check out the 1 star review on the first and second page of yelp reviews for this specific location and read what they have to say about PRICE INCREASES! Stay far away. Opened our 10X15 unit in January for $220 and 4 months later we received a notice that our rent was going up to almost $350 a month. This was not even 6 months or 1 year just 4 months. I immediately called to cancel as I found a unit near by for $190 a month and 10x15 and they will only raise rent after 1 year. I vacated my unit 2 weeks early and was not told to remove my lock. They auto billed me for the next month and I called and they told me I had to remove the lock. I ran over there that evening removed my lock and officially vacated but since it wasn't "vacated" by the 30th they billed me the entire next month when I only had the lock on for 2 days. I asked them for a courtesy refund because of the misunderstanding but they refused as well as I worked it up to the district manager and he she didn't even call me back after I was promised a call back in 48 hours. They may seem well priced initially but after you sign up they are blood suckers and will raise the rent insanely high and very quickly. There were multiple people moving out for the same reason along side us as I'm guessing they raised the rents significantly on most of the tenants. Stay fay away from this trap and you'll thank me! read more

The storage facility itself was decent , never complained about it BUT be aware of TÖM he said that's he's the manager. He parked his mobile home on the entrance or somewhere on the far building. Feel free to poke his tires or keys his car lol just joking ^_* but long story short. I left the facility one time forgot to return the cart key and get my student ID back since my friend had epilepsy due to high heat weather so I had to bring him to emergency room. So next day I came back on my own first thing I did is go to the office and let one of them ( Eric ) know that I went out with the key last night. Eric was super cool and appreciate my informative act then this TÖM mofo came to my unit storage just to upset me but honestly I feel terribly sorry for his failure to do so. I was laughing that he moved his giant body just to rubbing his boss piss attitude and try his hardest to upset me, took the chain that I suppose to lock my cart with away just to make sure he's entirely control that he will get his stupid key back! I am so scared of him lol. I will also attach his pic so you guys be aware if he try to use his power as a manager upset you with any stupid reason just make sure you secretly record his behavior and send to highest management of public storage. Is there anyway for me to give just half a star? Sneaky, dishonest staff and their corporate procedures are just as BAD. Per their corrupt greedy procedures, they mandate you to buy Public Storage insurance for your property as a condition of rent (I'm not storing their belongings in my space by the way so why do I need insurance?!!), tell you to buy overpriced $19.99 keys from them as a condition of rent (you get to keep the keys as your souvenir when you move out) and cajole you to buy $28 Saran Wrap... What makes it worse is that they intentionally don't mention renters insurance coverage, and even if you're smart enough to mention you have renters, they deny you up-front the option to use your renters insurance to cover your goods. They also deny you the option of bringing your own keys (which you can get at Home Depot for half the price, hint hint..). They make you buy everything from them, for a hefty price. And they won't take the keys back, even if I get my own from Home Depot.... Days before move-in, I got a quote, which says nothing of the keys or insurance. When we complained to the manager on the move-in day, she said "it's in the See Manager for details link". What's the purpose of the quote then? The quote was for $25.. they made me pay more than $60 for month #1. I heard Public Storage was sued for making someone by Public Storage insurance.. that person won by the way. My advice is, if you have renters insurance for your house or apartment, bring it with you to Public Storage if you have to rent space from them. It'll save you from having to pay extra insurance to PS for your goods. read more

I'm giving two stars because of the price. The facility is indoors which is why I chose it and was curious to how accessibility would be during operating hours. 3/4 times I would go by the location, the manager would be gone and I'd have to wait or either leave and come back. This happened so many times I lost track and began to get more frustrated as time went on. As soon as I could I pulled all my storage and moved to another company. The customer service and employees were beyond lazy. Would not repeat. read more

I'm pretty upset about all of the HIDDEN CHARGES that the employees don't tell you about despite me speaking with them over the phone two time and meeting them in person once before I signed the lease agreement since I already had my items packed and ready in the car. Hidden fees: Required insurance PER MONTH: $11 - $15 (Which is monopolized by a company. You have "options" but you would have to look for them before you can rent a space.) read more

If I could give a negative number I would. This location has terrible customer service and the customer service number does not care and will not listen to a problem or complaint. They demanded that I buy insurance through them when I moved in and refused to refund or cancel even when I proved I already had coverage through my homeowners coverage. The reps in the office will tell you lies and there is no accountability from the company. I was told there would be a move in special and there wasn't and I was told they will pro-rate the monthly charge when I move out if I give a notice and that was a lie. I wanted to take the time to shout out Shawn, who told me he just became the manager at this location. I went into the office to ask if he had seen any carts anywhere (all of the ones I saw were being used) and he was so hospitable and said he would go right away to check the side lobby of the building for me and would bring me one if there was any! Sure enough, within minutes he was driving toward my car in their golf cart holding a flat bed cart off the side for me! PUBLIC STORAGE EXEC SUPORT DEPT in CORP., rep was calling me DISCRIMINATORY names as I was explaining I paid 1 mo. in advance & had receipts. Rep refused to listen & I told him to stop with the name calling & would record he said NO cuz it's against their policy and hung up. I went to a location to show the receipts to clear situation & I was rudely treated, Agents refuse to cooperate with me, they started calling other locations pretending to be supervisors & even they admitted they were confused & informed me they have no supervisors nor General Manager. I was unable to solve the problem - I was locked out of my Unit. read more

Every time I go in the friendly and nice workers must have the day off. Very unhelpful but most egregious is the forcing of insurance. PublicStorage fails to disclose anything remotely related to their own insurance requirements and flouted my insistence that other personal insurance is sufficient. I distinctly remember saying, "You are forcing me to use your own insurance when I have other personal insurance" and the DISTRICT MANAGER, who was on site that, said without purchasing PublicStorage's insurance and agreeing to their monthly insurance fee she would not be able to secure a storage unit for me. read more
