I get you workers want to go home early but don't forget what time the facility closes! who closes the fucking gates 10-15 minutes before actual closing time (7pm) -all while you have unloaded everything in front your unit! My friend drove her car too, but I forgot my keys to my lock in her glove compartment. I go outside because she parked behind by the dmv/food market. It's raining, Not even 4 minutes later and I cant go back in. All my stuff inside, in the hallway in front of my unit, I honked and honked, they looked and didn't even bother. January 18, 2024 : arrived at 100% AI-managed Public Storage site at 4610 Van Nuys Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403-2915, USA to discover: 1. Someone had tampered with main gate so that it was wide open, 2. The security door to the bldg. where my unit was located was open, and 3. Saw a 5 inch gap the potentially was a potential for dry storage unit to be flooded due to winter rains common to Southern Ca. I immediately notified off-site "manager" who stated they were aware of the situations but could not send anyone to address these issues until Saturday, January 20. No offer of another secure, dry unit for items valued at slightly less that $5000.00 insurance bond was made. My unit and the unit next to my unit were flooded during a winter rainstorm the night of January 31, 2024, HOWEVER, Public Storage did not notify me until after 2:00 pm THE NEXT DAY February 1, 2024! Fast forward to THURSDAY MARCH 7, 2024 AT 11:39 AM : After completing all required documentation from the Sedgewick Insurance Co ( a wholly owned subsidiary (?) OF PUBLIC STORAGE ) mostly for a library built book-by-book since 2004 now mildewed ( the first step before mold) that will likely cost more than the current value ( over $2,061.+ +) to replace if possible - at least one first edition and many texts that may be out-of-print as they were published as far back as 1959 ( approx.), I was asked for photos of books being moved from book boxes WHEN boxes were being moved AFTER damage was done ( 1.31.2024(!) - remember, I was not notified until the MIDDLE OF THE NEXT DAY 2.1.2024! With only a few weeks' notice, was informed that all tenants needed to remove all items & evacuate their units due to a "renovation." This location is a very well maintained storage facility! The staff is friendly, courteous, and they helped make my chore of renting a space and getting my things moved in a snap. The facility is clean inside and out. And during my visits to store things I never saw litter anywhere. I like very much that the code assigned to your account will allow you to the floor your unit is on only! That is a great added safety feature that significantly cuts down on unnecessary traffic to each floor. I have to mention the two front counter people who helped me with my rental, first day of moving things in, and subsequent visits. A big thank you goes to Asia for setting up my account and helping me select the right size unit for my needs; it was spot on! She was so patient and accommodating in responding to all my questions and concerns. Another big thank you goes to Eliza who has helped me with everything from options for what to do about what I thought was my lost unit key (which I found thankfully!) to pertinent info about everything else. And finally, both these ladies went above and beyond on two separate occasions when I dropped my DL on the ground at the facility after using it to obtain a dolly from them. Public storage fraudulently charged my account after I had moved out and gotten the moveout letter. I did not owe any money on my account but they charged me for an entire month after they had signed the paperwork that I was no longer a customer of theirs and during the time that they continue to charge me for the space they re-rented the unit to a different person. This means they are double charging for their storage spaces. I called public storage before my move out date to ask what I needed to do to cancel my account. I was told all I needed to do was move my belongings out and have an employee sign off that the unit was clean and ready to be re-rented to a new customer. This is fraud and my bank would not allow a chargeback which means that I'm out a significant amount of money for renting a space that I did not have access to, and that I had already been discharged of any liability for before the additional monthly charge was charged to my card. read more

This is a great place close to USC to store your stuff, just a tip for people wanting to store their stuff for the summer, book it early! I made the mistake of thinking I could only book it a week before move in and still get a spot but I was freaking out when there were no units available. Luckily I went back to the site and a spot just opened up and I reserved it right away. I talked to the manager and she said that students start booking in April so I suggest you do that. I also didn't get the unit I wanted and ended up with the 5x4 storage unit and just a warning, it's elevated so you need ladders to move your stuff in, but they provide that. Patty worked with me and she was super friendly and made everything go very smoothly. She even helped me move in my bike. The units are clean and the service here is excellent so I really recommend it. read more

The place is clean, the staff are super friendly. The only gripe I have is the hours - 930-630 isn't very convenient all the time but I guess once all my stuff is there I won't be going there much. My unit is on the 1st floor which makes for super easy access, too. Both women that work there are very helpful and funny. My boyfriend and I had a great time, and I'm very happy with the size vs price and location. I'd give my entire experience 5 stars, particularly customer service. You should give the 2 of them both raises! read more

Saw a roach run from one storage unit into another. Storage unit had multiple roaches crawling on my wardrobe boxes and on ground (I counted 6 while there). Front desk staff was courteous and promised to help figure out solutions to problem. However, nothing specific has been done and the staff forgot to follow up. I made an online reservation the night before. When I selected the "deal rate", it immediately changed to double the price when I confirmed the reservation. No bueno! But, it did said you can change the reservation. So the "Customer Service" person called this morning, first of all with an attitude. I told her I wanted the reservation but not at that price. She said "At what price?" rudely of course. I told her that it doubled the price when it got to the confirmation page. Instead of helping me fix it or trying to see what went wrong she said "So do you want me to cancel the reservation?" I said sure. She just HUNG UP! What a winner!!! I found myself in a pickle, with 24 hours left at my current lease and no news about a new apartment. Just to be safe, I reserved a unit for my things, but didn't pay yet. Within minutes, I received a call from the property manager letting me know that there was only one unit left, and I should put down a deposit to secure it in case someone else comes along. I explained my situation and that I wouldn't be able to commit until the next morning. They understood, and set me up for a morning move in. I ended up getting the apartment, so I didn't use their service. The next morning I received a phone call asking if I wanted to reschedule the move in time. I came to this Public Storage as soon as I moved out my belongings from my old apartment near USC. I was immediately shown the 5x10 space on the first floor I reserved by Veniece and she helped me with the paperwork and explained the rates, insurance, policies, etc. There's a $25 fee activation, and the insurance is mandatory. I chose the $11 insurance. The lock was also $19.99. Veniece was so kind, helpful, and patient. I was confused about the pro rated rent, but she explained everything so thoroughly and with patience even when I didn't understand. She made the process so easy and quick too. It's amazing to me that this place has high ratings on Google. I've had the WORST experience there in the month that I have stored my things. I reserved the unit online and was planning to stop by during weekend hours to take a look at the unit to make sure that it could fit all of my things. I specifically reserved a unit with elevator access as I know that I am unable to carry things up multiple flights of stairs due to health reasons. When I arrived to take a look at the unit (as discussed with an employee beforehand) I encountered an employee that was in a horrible mood. He had a bad attitude and clearly I was ruining his day by simply coming to view the unit. I second guessed renting there at that point but didn't have enough time before my movers were scheduled to pick up my things. A week into my rental, I took off of work early in order to drop off during their work hours. I spent quite some time packing my car up to bring some things to my unit. I arrived within the working hours to drop off my things before leaving town only to be met by an employee letting me know that the elevators were down and I'd have to carry my things up the stairs. Remember, I specifically rented a unit advertised with elevator access as I knew that I physically couldn't carry my things upstairs. A nice elderly gentleman outside offered to help me carry my things upstairs but I declined the offer as he was elderly and I didn't feel comfortable having him do that in the 90 degree heat. I then asked when it would be working again. I got a dry "I don't know, it's been out all day". When I mentioned that a simple mass email to tenants that were paying for a service to let them know about the lack of access to their units was unavailable, she responded "well you have access to the stairs and that man offered to help you". I did not have the access I paid for, elevator access. If you market the unit by highlighting the elevator access and also charge more money for that elevator access then clearly, the access that I had paid for was unavailable. I took off work (again) the next day as I needed to get my things in the unit before leaving town but the elevator was still down. I'd like to add that a very kind gentleman whose name I sadly can't remember answered the phone that day. (If I can highlight the good, I can highlight the bad). Because I'd now had 2 very horrible experiences at the location, I asked for the manager's info. I've been calling Araceli McMahon-Mendoza for 2 weeks and left several voicemails and she has yet to call me back. Before I could even wake up today, I received a call and voicemail saying that my account was past due. This was completely my fault as I'd thought that I had set up auto pay but turns out I didn't so I understand the call. I find it amazing that no one has yet to call me back about my complaint but made it a priority to call bright & early to collect the money for the unit that I did not have access to when I needed it. I have probably only written 3 internet reviews in my life but I had to write this. This type of experience that you pay for is unacceptable. DO NOT RENT HERE. read more
