By far the best customer service I have ever received! A young lady by the name of Samatha did an outstanding job in helping me. Not only did she understand my frustration but she was also able to resolve my issue. Moving in itself can be so frustrating and expensive and when I presented my issue to Samatha, she treated it as if it was her own. Every option, every alternative she gave me was carefully thought threw, to accommodate me and my budget. When I went to public storage (8/30/14), I had every intention to move out of my unit and with her help, I just ended up transferring to a smaller unit. My transfer was easy and saved a lot of time. All my items fit, which ironcially showed me that I've been over paying public storage for years. Never once did Samatha make me feel like a sale, or business. She treated me as a person and was empathic to my individual need. Even after the transfer, right before I was about to leave, she met me outside to give me a donut. I had mentioned I wanted one when I first got there, and she remember even when I forgot-That's customer service! Throughout my whole transfer, Samatha consistently checked to see if there was anything I needed and even pulled me aside (discretely) to make me aware that the propriety office had furniture covers, after she saw one of my movers being rough with my items- I respected and thanked her for that. I am a current renter and will be living these units. my monthly payments have almost doubled over the last year. when I look at other indoor unit costs at other locations they are much cheaper. when I call the office or customer service to get my rate re-evaluated they always say. we will review and no change. Debris, pollen and bugs have gotten in my unit. I will be making a claim because my wooden tables have this dust which is a hard substance on them I pay over $240 per month to have foreign items in my unit. read more

In all honesty, it is a storage unit. My complaint is what was in it. My Son and I emptied his unit this week while he was home on leave from the Army, he was excited to get his belongings into the new garage I built for him in September, the surprise was when we opened the door only to see that squirrels made this their new home. When I rode into the lot a noticed squirrels on the wall half way down the first building, didn't give it a thought, now I know what they were up to. I don't know how many units have this problem, but the person manning the fort told me it is why they encourage buying insurance, never imagined this would be a reason why you would need it. He acknowledged the problem, but wouldn't of been nice if they would of sent all tenants a E-mail asking you to maybe check your unit to see if you have an infestation problem? The damage was extensive to include couch's, dressers where his drawers with clothes in them became their nests. Most items ruined. They knew there was a problem and they say they are protected by law against claim. I guess what I'am saying is get the insurance and make sure your unit is tightly sealed, don't regret that you didn't do either like we did read more

Let me first say, their property manager was never available. The first day of move in, i met her and She did not know where anything was! There was no carts or anything to help.move things into the climate control building. I was a previous public storage customer and came back because of the wonderful experience the first time! Not so wonderful this time. I had moved from haul to public because of the awsome deal they offered, well that didn't last but 3 month and they raised my rent by $40.00, so I decided it was time to go through the stuff snd get rid of the storage. Funny as soon as I confirmed on the app my move out date, I het 3 calls asking why I was loving out and thst they could lower my rate if I wanted to stay?? Hmm really?? No already disappointed in your service not to mention when my rent increased I went to talk to the property manager, and nope office closed again. Called and left a message and nothing. My move out date was set for May 31st, I confirmed on the app and was out on this date, however again no property manager to speak with to let her know I was out. I came back the next day to just sweep the unit out again office closed and locked in the middle of the day, so no conversation with property manager. I went to the unit swept it out and went through the property looking for a manager. Again no luck. So NOW because I entered just to clean the unit they want to charge me a whole.month of rent. This is totally wrong and they are taking advantage of people who want to make sure the unit was clean. I only went to sweep because I forgot the broom the last day. And honestly, if there was someone there to speak with before hand I wouldn't of gone back in knowing they were going to charge me a whole month for going in one day to clean. I was a good tenant and paid my rent on time. I have tried speaking with someone at customer service nothing was resolved, she basically hung up on me because it was quitting time. She said that she asked them to remove the balance and said sorry not approved have a good day and disconnected. Please read all your documents. I mean if you want to change me for the day fine no problem, but a whole.month??? I have a problem with that. Taking advantage of your tenets is wrong. Prorate it like you do when you move it. This is wrong and I will let everyone know not to use them and don't be respectful and responsible to go in and clean your unit Will never use this company ever again. Property manager should always be around the property during business hours. Never ever when I went by was anyone there. Treat you tenets better!!! I will definitely go back to uhaul. I wouldn't recommend anyone to rent a unit here. They called us saying we didn't get one thing from the unit, tried going back to see what is it. They said there was nothing. Yet we have some things missing from our items plus a bed piece and now I can put my bed up because of that. I don't know why they would call saying we have some stuff missing in our unit then say there's nothing. Makes no sense at all. I called them and explained but they had attitude with me and kept saying there's nothing in storage. Where would my shit go if not in storage unit. I've never been so upset with a business before that I would actually take the time to leave a bad review until now. This is the first time I've ever stored my car before. I live roughly an hour away from this Public Storage location but I knew I was only going to see my car for maybe 2 times until spring and this location was significantly cheap to store a car. Then I found out you get what you pay for. Both times I've came my door has been frozen shut under 4-5 inches of ice. And guess what if you have to work past 6, they have no one there to help you out so you are completely screwed. Not only will I never be doing business at this location again, I don't plan on ever going to Public Storage again. read more

Rents raise at least $10 every year. Public Storage requires insurance, hard sell you to use their insurance. They require original receipts of any items you purchased to approve any claims. They do NOT have Cameras. Unit was broken into in November, took over a week for their contractor to "fix" our unit to allow us access again. Avoid at all costs. At least review the 545+ Consumer Affairs complaints and class action lawsuit about this company before using their services. Was also there on one occasion this year when the front gate was wide open overnight because the front gate was not working. read more

All the times I've been there, I never saw any strange characters hanging around, or anything that would make you feel like your belongings aren't safe, so that is definitely a plus. Before signing up, check Yelp or Google for promotions on unit pricing - without a promotion, the cost is ridiculous. If you need a storage unit in this area, they are worth checking out. read more

Pros: Andy was patient in helping me figure out which storage size I needed, and made sure I had all the supplies I needed for moving. Brittany wasn't directly assisting me, but was a pleasant person to have around. Cons: You can only access your storage unit between 6am and 9pm. This is a BIG issue for me. If I'm paying for the space to store my things, I'd like the ability to access my belongings any time of day or night. When I was putting house up for sale, I rented a climate controlled storage unit. Mary at the office was very nice and help me to understand how the process works. I never had a problem while my items were in storage. The day I moved out of my storage unit I took the lock and keys but forgot to go to the office to let them know I would like to cancel my unit. I then went in about 6 days later to cancel the unit was told that Mary cancelled my unit when she was doing her nightly walk through and noticed my lock was gone. Because of this it saved me from paying the next month. Had a great experience and would recommend Public Storage to all my friends. read more

We are supposed to be on the internet rate, and the rate keeps going up and up and up, with no notification. When you call to try to rectify they do not respond back. In 1 year our rate has gone up $100. This place had the best rate for me to store my belongings when I moved from another storage facility, now I feel as though I'm being taken advantage of. I sure hope they will own up to the initial great customer care and service and adjust my rate back down where it rightfully should be, as well as credit the overage to my future payments. read more

As far as the staff goes they were awesome. Joyce was a pleasure to deal with and was very friendly! Key pads should be lit so you can see when you come after dark. Also the lights on the building that my unit is in always seem to be out. Since most of my trips during my move are after dark it really is a pain. Other than that the prices are good and the place seems pretty secure. read more

Literally the WORST customer service I have ever.dealt with. Jamie was the guy I dealt with on john r and 12 mile. Was rude and said if I had any problems as the manager he couldn't do anything for me. I lost my key and opted to get it cut. After 4 days of waiting on a phone call (with no response) I finally called and was told on Friday leave a message and they would get back to me Monday. My lock was supposed to be cut 5 days earlier. They tried telling me I needed to purchase one and since I wasn't told I was SOL. Needless to say as soon as it's cut I'm removing everything. Ive been at this property for almost a year I relocated out of state, I just so happened to come home on a visit in June and first I couldn't get a manager or sale associate til after 930am. I also went in my unit there was debris all around my unit, I open my unit which I have very expensive thing in there, debris on my pedestal of my dining table, debris in the corners etc. I rode around the and too my surprise there wasn't any debris. i guess they push all the debris by my storage. i finally got the manager on the phone claimed he had car trouble, i expressed too him about the filthy debris by my unit and in and around it. he said we dont take care of the grounds and you have insurance contactthem. I'm disappointed that I have to amend this review. While trying to close out my account I was sent to a collections agency for their mistakes. I vacated my storage unit on a weekend in May and called during the following week to let them know and to stop my automatic payments. I called back and asked if I could get some sort of confirmation number and was told "we don't do that." (Every time I called and either left a message on their answering machine or a message with a person my calls were not returned, I always had to be the one to call them back.) In June I was again charged for my storage unit. I called back and asked to speak to the person that had (supposedly) closed out my account. She had to talk to the facility manager and (after I had to call them back) I was told that the credit could not be done at the store level and that the district manager would have to issue the credit. They offered to give me the number for the district manager, but I said I would wait and see if the credit went through. I checked online and within the week a credit was issued to my credit card - at this point I was still ok and probably would have been back in the winter to store my car with them again. In July I received a letter from a collections agency saying that I still owed money for my account. There was no attempt by Public Storage to contact me about any delinquent charges. I called Public Storage back and spoke with the facility manager who told me that there was a notation on my account to NOT be sent to collections. She then gave me the number for the district manager. I was informed that most days she is on the road and I might not get a response right away. I left three messages over the course of a week with no reply. At the end of the week I finally got a response and was told that she had been on vacation and the person checking her messages did not return my calls. She confirmed that the account should not have been sent to collections and she now had to send the matter to the corporate offices. I again asked for some sort of confirmation and was given a vague response that the matter should be resolved in two days. I called back at the end of the week leaving a message again asking for a confirmation and again received no response. I'm disappointed by the lack of customer service and me having to run around after their mistakes. I have no way to confirm that this matter has been resolved and will just have to wait and see if I am contacted again by this collections agency. While they could have had an annual customer, I will not be back to this or any other Public Storage facility - I will spend the extra money for their competitor that is closer to home. read more

Pretty basic: you go in and they help you get the right storage unit for how much you have to store. They have the boxes, tape and advice on how to maximize what you have to store in the unit you wish to rent. Couldn't be easier. Ashley & Joyce should get 10 Stars... but it only goes to 5. When Joyce & Ashley met me at the unit I was renting, the lock latch was a little snug. Joyce and that WD-40 fixed it on the spot. I also found the unit clean and swept out. I really had a great experience with my first time renting a storage unit. Joyce and Robin at the Madison Heights location were great to work with. I received a very thorough explanation on how the facility operates, how to operate the gate, how to open the unit and how to check out. I mostly worked with Joyce and she was friendly which made me feel comfortable storing my classic car there. The $1 for the first month promotion made the decision to go with Public Storage very easy. I really appreciated the courtesy calls by Andy just to make sure everything was going well.
