And Lord help you if you actually try to see the property manager in person... my specific location only has a kiosk. All customer service calls get routed to the property manager in a different location... and shockingly they never answer the phone (it's like they know they give crappy service and want to avoid any accountability)! Cooperate actually made me a face to face appointment with my property manager.... turns out they made the appt at 9:30am on a day when the office doesn't open until 1:30pm. Don't waste your time or sanity with this business... pay a little extra and go elsewhere where they actually VALUE their paying customers! read more

It is next to impossible to get someone on the phone. You speak with a computer online which then transfers you to a virtual assistant. I spoke with the virtual assistant and it told me it would take up to 72 hours but that I would hear from someone prior to. I am traveling in from out of state to empty my unit. I then received a phone call saying I needed to go to the 5440 location to purchase a lock - this is not what I need. Then to request a lock cut the time frame was 2 weeks. This is absurd. There is no longer anyone stationed at that location which was the case when I moved my things in over 10 years ago. I am not speaking with another virtual assistant who is advising me to better listen to the prompts via phone in order to speak with someone. It continuously puts you through a loop of selections. I select one and it replays the message. It's pandoras box of phone assistance. The prices are pretty outrageous as well. Do humans work here? read more

This storage facility doesn't answer phone. Workers live on property & still don't do anything! If your storage is not paid by the 8th the will put a lock on it , if it's not paid by the 20th they'll cut your lock off. I've paid on the 16th it's now the 19th they still haven't took the lock off they put on. Are they trying to steal my stuff and wait to cut the lock off on the 20th ? I'm confused. read more

Avoid at all costs. These things LEAK. My unit's ceiling had absorbed so much water, the lining had begun to say and cave in. Through no fault of your own, your belongings may simply mold and need to be discarded anyway. Don't pay MORE money, when you could be using Uncle Bob's climate controlled units for LESS MONEY. if I could give it a zero I would. constantly raising their prices and their insurance company can't even take care of the claims that they have, especially when it's their fault your stuff got messed up. it's been about 2 months since i had a claim filed and no every contacts me and once I finally get a hold of someone it's we'll put it in your file and your adjustor will contact you and they never do.... public storage is the reason why my unit was flooded and they told me that there was nothing that they could do and it took four days for them to get someone out there to fix the ac unit that was flooding my unit. We've had a unit here over two years. The staff is consistently helpful. When we rented the unit we were advised how to avoid water damage and how to pack our unit to get the most benefit. These are not indoor units. Therefore, I'm sure some of our items will have to be discarded. However, we have not noticed any damage to our property or disrepair to the unit during our visits. Admittedly there's seems to have been a change in management at some point. When we first signed up service was above and beyond. That has waned to consistent ok service. Nothing to make me not want to recommend this place. As for pricing, as with any rental an increase was expected and was not unreasonable. The late fees are exorbitant if you're late so make every effort to pay on time. read more

I would never rent from them again. I called while on the road Moving to find very few storage offices are open for new business on Sunday. This Public Storage Was open till 5 PM. Traffic was backed up due to an accident so I called because GPS had me arriving just at 5. Kim reassured me that she would stay till six if needed And waited for me so that I could put my stuff in storage that evening. Excellent customer service! read more

I was lured into choosing this place out of all the storage unit places for the first month free offer. After taxes and fees it cost me more the first month than it does any other month. Okay fine, moved on kept the unit...went out of town thought i had signed up for auto pay and checked...IF YOU ARE 31 DAYS LATE YOUR UNIT GOES IN AUCTION!!!!!!!!!! I have had several storage sheds and everyone knows things happen but if you go one day past 30 days and do not pay to the last penny of what you owe they auction your unit. Go anywhere else other than here people, you will have at least 2-3 months before that happens. You will see your items on storage wars. Customer service has no sympathy. read more

By far, the worst Public Storage Company in the entire Richmond Metro Area. We started at $70 (granted this was a promotional price for new customers) for a small 10 x 10. It was for my 95-year old mother. Within less than 4 years, it skyrocketed to $140. I tried to renegotiate the fee. This in itself was awful because phone calls are never returned by the financial office (this company got a new owner a couple of years ago and has gone down hill ever since). Finally, the amount was reduced to $130 (which was still MORE than new customers pay as I write this review). My mother died. I am trying to empty her things now, but I caution anyone reading this review to NEVER give Public Storage your hard-earned money. In the local office, Kim Jennings, is the only ray of sunshine. i must say public storage have did it again, they know how to hire great people to run the midlothian hull st location. kim the manager or the the staff worker greet you as soon as you walk in te door. oh do not let it be your birthday they sing happy birtday to you. the staff is very kind, they go all out to make sure your storage need are met and fast they are all smiles when they are helping you. i mean they are just such a happy staff. they make your happy .. keep up the great work. read more
