First, I want to say that the front desk person is lovely. None of this is her fault. However, we've had some major issues with the facility and company. First, our unit was broken into in October and we only just found out about it because they called my husband once and he didn't answer, then they gave up and just never emailed or called again. This was a huge negative surprise to arrive to this past weekend. The second problem is that in January they randomly increased our bill from around $175/month to $244/month. This is a HUGE increase! We only began renting in Sept, and we never would have gone with this facility if we knew they would be luring us in only to raise the rent by 40% four months after we began renting. This also really seems to be taking the piss since the unit had just been broken into! Last weekend were able to talk them into decreasing the rent to $222/month, but this is still a humungous increase. Other annoying things: There is no ramp to get stuff from your car into the storage unit area. There also is no ramp to exit the facility! So every time you leave your car slams as you pull out into the road. For the prices they are charging, things should be better designed. We don't live in Reno so have to continue renting from here until August when we are back in town, but we will be looking to switch to a more affordable and secure location then. read more

There was a massive burglary that occurred here. Multiple storage units got broken into over a month. No one warned us. It would have been easy to send an alert to all tenants as we could have removed some valuables - like bikes. There was video footage of the thrives leaving the property and staff still didn't alert the police while it was happening. I told her I was taking pictures of the many items that have remained broken for months so I can post a review. She called me "suspicious" and seemed to not believe me. She is extremely unprofessional and really shouldn't be leading a team with her hostile approach. Rather than profiling me and approaching me like a criminal, her focus would be better spent identifying actual criminals that continue to break into storage units. A little bit of tact, politeness, and respect goes a long way! However, there are a couple great staff that are polite and friendly. - Over $6,000 worth of my items were stolen in a short window of time. After reporting to facility staff, I received radio silence. There is no communication, follow up, or information you receive. When you ask about progress, they say "we don't know" or "I can't tell you". You can't even email anyone about it because the company doesn't allow external communication. Again, no professionalism. While an individual MUST enter a code 3 times before getting to my unit and there are only 2 entrances into the building, they still can't find any video of theft in my unit. And there is literally a camera right by it! I completely understand the liability of giving specifics, and I agree with it. However, a professional approach would be to let your tenant know that they have/haven't found evidence and forwarded the information to local law enforcement. When I contact the police, they say that the storage facility has not provided them with any information. With everything hush-hush, it's hard for your mind not to wander into thinking if this was an inside job. I find it extremely difficult to believe that they were not able to provide video footage or access code information to law enforcement given the following large, recognizable items were taken - 18' ladder, a bright red pressure washer, a full 65L hiking bag, a large hand truck, a violin, a guitar, a tool box, and much more. - Safety is a HUGE concern here! It is highly likely that your unit will be broken into and you will get a flat tire. I can't emphasize this enough. THEY HAVE HAD A DISPROPORTIONATE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY THEFT! There has not been 1 time that I've visited where screws, nails, and sharp objects were littered in the ground ready to give your vehicle a flat tire. The exit signs barely hang by the wires for multiple months (still hanging, possible code violation?). There were even a couple of weeks where they didn't have door handles on the entrances to the building! Just holes in the door where handles should be that you pull on to enter the building. Even right now, there are 3" of sheet metal sticking out at the entrance just waiting for you and your children to cut yourselves. You will notice that there are also some unsavory characters that are regularly there. - The elevators will stay broken for multiple months! And when you think it's working, it breaks again. It's climate controlled, but they keep it at 85 in the summer and 55 in the winter. That's barely a difference from the temperature outside and makes moving your items very uncomfortable and it's a big fluctuation for your items. It's a very dirty facility. Just look at the elevator walls and floor that get a buildup of fluid smudges and grime. If the power goes out, don't expect communication or access to your unit - not even a sign on the door or an email. You just show up and have to call the corporate number to figure out that they are closed. Apparently, poor communication and professionalism are an accepted theme for Public storage. So if you need access to your items to run a business, you cannot count on this place! read more

I needed to rent a unit for just one month. I decided to call the 800 number for Public Storage. The sales agent located the closest available unit to the move out address. I really appreciated this since I'm not familiar with this city. She also explained the current promo's available "first month's rent only one dollar" . Yes please! I signed the lease agreement via email. I received my unit number and entry codes prior to move in. The morning of the move was seamless, I arrived early prior to office hours. The lock I purchased through Public Storage was located inside the clean climate controlled unit. This particular Public Storage location was impressively clean, zero trash inside or out! This place is a cesspool. Serious security problems which they know of and do nothing about. Multiple units were broken into. The thieves were clearly in ours for hours, opening up and going through every box. Obviously this was an inside job, and the administration did nothing to help. There was a crackpipe in hallway. Rumors of people living in some units. There's no restrooms, since people were shooting up in them and they had to lock them up. They've had their AC units stolen, all their furniture dollies stolen... And good luck finding anyone in the office. Just go somewhere else. read more

We filed an insurance report that didn't work out so well they needed serial numbers on the stuff they took. I would not recommend this place. read more

I had a unit at Public Storage Wrondel. I went down there because I was going to repack some things. I arrived and there were 2 blue locks on it. I was locked out. That is how I learned about the break in. The only time Public Storage tried to contact me was they left a message asking me to call them back "about an important matter" on the 17th. I didn't get an email or notice or text. I had to call the police non emergency number to make a report. This was very stressful and time consuming. This is really important to share because if you know what was in your unit, reporting it stolen asap can help them get it back to you. The fact this company multiple days later still hadn't notified me is criminal, and impacted my ability to make a timely report. How could they let several units get broken into and not interupt it? Their cameras are often not on, and don't work. Their gate is often broken for weeks. This place is a scam and totally unsafe and irresponsible. read more

I reserved a storage unit online for a 5x5 space. The initial prices posted don't include required insurance that renters must carry. On the day of move in I was greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member. To access the grounds a passcode is needed, to enter the building your code is needed, and once again to access the elevator your code is needed. There is an app which I'm sure can make your visits a lot simpler as far as punching in codes is concerned. I didn't have a lock so I was charged $19 to purchase one of the storage unit locks. The building was kept at a cool temperature, it was clean, and well lit. This location is NOT in a good part of town and there were a lot of sketchy folks around so I would not recommend accessing your unit after business hours. read more

I rented a storage unit a few months ago, and wasn't thrilled that they automatically charge you for a lock (I have my own) You have to bring their lock back into the office (when they are in the office) to request a refund. One good thing, I said I have my own insurance and they don't make you send proof in triplicate like other places. I like being able to open the access gate and door with my phone; feels state of the art. My first trip was fine, no issues with parking or unloading (I'm renting a space inside a building for the first time) The grounds were clean, the building was spotless. There was no dolly to use (they have one in the office you can ask to use I think). There was no one around and I was in and out quickly. The next time I went, there was a man inside the building and his stuff was everywhere. Down the hall, outside the building. Everywhere. I was in and out, but it was off-putting. Next time I came there was something that had been spilled in the hall and no attempt was made to clean it up outside the unit. Next time I came there were people unloading, no place to park, the door propped open, and it was really dirty inside with broken pieces up furniture, cat food strewn everywhere down the hall. I picked up something quickly from my unit and was gone. I called the office to let them know it was a mess. Came back last weekend, and there was an RV that people were living in being worked on in front of the building. Stuff everywhere on the ground, and inside the building that still hadn't been cleaned up from last weekend. It's a relatively new building, but at this rate, it will be ghetto in no time. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. We have been renting here approx. 18 months. In that time because their system made an error and didn't take out the automatic payments. Our unit as well as multiple others were broken into and robbed. They told us there was an issue with our lock once we got down there we were informed the unit was broken into and that they did not call the police even though their property was damaged by these people who broke in. After 4 months they have still not replaced the locking mechanism on our door that was cut open. Then recently I went down to find out why the gate wouldn't open when I tried to go in and apparently it's because of a power outage yesterday all the power is on but the gate still won't open that's fine what's not fine is when I asked about it the property manager by the name of I believe Sandy refused to open the doors of the business to speak to a paying customer about why they couldn't get into their unit. Then proceeded to tell me and I quote "I'm trying to fucking figure it out." Serving to escalate the issue this is now two days that I cannot get into my property that I pay them to store my bills paid never been late never missed a payment. I'm in a position where I can't just go get all of my stuff out of that storage unit and put it into a different storage unit. they kept raising the rent on our family's storage units. The entry/exit security doors didn't latch all the way, were always propped open or would close properly. The other building has no customer bathroom and only 1 elevator. The building where the office is has only one working elevator. The stairs have locked doors from the inside. Corporate is not willing to invest in reasonable employee staffing levels and wages. We usually saw onmy One employee typically running the facility. We never knew how on God's Green Earth only one overworked/underpaid employee was supposed to get everything done and be everywhere at once. The exorbitant rents and the lack of assistance when we needed something and the squalid conditions of the property and the degradation of Corporate is why we left. I've only been with Public Storage for a few months and they increased their price right away. The space itself is overpriced and the building is constantly going through issues -- one of the elevators never seems to work. If you make a payment late, they will put a lien on your unit and your personal property after only two weeks of being late. They add a $20 late fee as well as a lien fee, and they freak out if you're late, even if you have the smallest unit (my unit costs $68 a month). For these people to freak out in such a way over $68, well, it really says a lot about this company and the way it views and treats its customers. I'll be making a special trip up to Reno to pull out my property and will gladly seek out a better storage space with an organization that doesn't forget that its dealing with HUMAN BEINGS. read more

I received a phone call from the manager Nina C.after calling the 800 number. Nina was extremely knowledgeable and very informative. I drove to public storage and though Nina was busy she is a great multi tasker and was able to get me my unit in a matter of minutes. I have been a customer of Public Storage for 18 months paying $160 a month for a 10x10 unit. I have any to downsize to a 5x10 so I went on their website and saw they have a 5x10 for $76 and $1for the first month. So went ahead and paid the fees which included the $1, $21 for a lock and $29 for an admin fee. Went to the location to get my new unit and was told that because I'm an existing customer I will not get that rate. So I said to cancel everything, only to find out they refunded the $1 and the $21 but will not refund the admin fee. My biggest complaint is nowhere on their site does it say pricing for new customers only. So I called their customer service number and was hung up on my the rep because I asked to speak to a supervisor. I would NEVER RECOMMEND Public Storage to anyone. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. They are absolutely horrible. They cut my lock off and replaced it with their own a second time. No one at the office can tell me why they keep doing this. My payments are always on time. Also today when the employee went up to my unit to get the lock off so I could get into my storage they also had to take their lock off of someone else's storage unit. Apparently this company likes to put their locks on your stuff. It's a good thing I keep having to take stuff out of storage. The customer service has been impeccable. The facility is secure, and clean . The only issue I have had really is that we are on the 2nd floor and our unit is just about the furthest distance from the elevator as we could be. It makes for a lot of work. I wish they had elevator access on both sides it would simplify. things a great deal. But overall I am happy with our choice. My daughter misplaced the keys on the first move in day and the next morning when I contacted the office they were happy to be able to return them. Not sure why they keep removing my review. But stay away from them. They are very shady. My unit was "broken into" and everything of value taken from my unit. And the thieves that broke into my unit, cut my personal lock and replaced it with a public storage lock. So i guess thieves walk around with bolt cutters and spare locks now? Anyways $17k worth of stuff gone. I asked for the cameras for my insurance and they said they can't give me any information on the crime for privacy reasons. They were far from compassionate. And even dismissive about the loss. Thankfully, the front desk lady really pushed for me to get the insurance. Like really pushed! Almost like she knows stuff goes missing here. It seems secure with all the extra gate codes, apps, etc. but somehow. Even through all these security features my unit and 30 others were broken into.... DO NOT use!! The first call I had with them to book my storage unit, I was told I could self-check-in right away. Not true, so I canceled right then again on the same phone call. Not only did they charge my card for the storage unit I canceled immediately, they also put a sketchy $43.25 charge on my account for who knows what. No refund was submitted so I had to call back. My full refund was supposed to be credited to my account within 5-7 business days. Instead, they gave me three small refund charges over the next couple days that only amounted to $64.84 when they owed me $240.34. I waited another week to see if my full refund would be given and nothing. After yet another phone call, I was told this would be escalated to the corporate office and they would get back to me in 72hrs. I should not have to wait three weeks to get my money back for a storage unit I never had, and a business should definitely not have these sketchy practices. I'm sure they have kept a bunch of people's money that have not kept track of their statements like I have. Filing report with the BBB now. Avoid at all costs. read more

Easiest process to get a storage space ever! Took me 10 minutes online. They gave me a free lock, was in and out of the office to pick up my gate code in record time. The management there was fully attentive to the surveillance system and takes the security of the place very seriously. Suggest you store with them if you value your belongings!! read more
