I have had the exact opposite experience. I have been using storage there for the past couple of years. I have 8 units. Not once have I seen what you went through. I would take all of my units somewhere else tomorrow if I had that happen to me. Jen is the manager and she has been a pleasure to work with. What most folks would think that she "went out of her way" to do is just the regular service I have had since I first came there. Jen is doing lots of things right because the place is always full and at a premium. Anyway, if you need the facilities in the future, go see Jen. You will be treated right. Today I had a bad experience with a employee I've never seen before until now the original lady is so sweet but this other employees kept watching everything I was doing I'm a single mother of 4 and am currently staying in hotels with my kids so I'm back and forth to my unit alot she told me I couldn't hang my clothes up in the unit and was really rude about it she also said I wasn't allowed to store a bed in there and that no one stores a bed in their units, so when u move out of your home where do I put my bed she gave me a hard time and I'm already struggling and I thought getting a unit would be helpful but I guess not I'm hoping for a refund soon and I'll find a storage place that will let me store my furniture until I can get in a new apartment this is ridiculous what's the storage unit for then...? I am so TICKED at this company right now! They have RATS running around the storage units! When we told them, they responded as if no big deal. I have pictures of the rats running amongst our stuff and climbing up the wall! Some of our possessions had to be tossed because of all the rat pee, poo, and residue. They said, 'file an insurance claim' and handed me the paperwork. They MAKE you pay for the insurance. Insurance company denied our claim. Things that we had stored in our own garage...transferred to the storage unit because we put our house on the market to sell...ransacked by rats and some of our stuff destroyed. Again, they don't care. They know there's rats running around yet they don't seal up the units. NOT HAPPY!!!!! read more

I am trying to figure out why they picked my personal lock, put their stickers on, and then didn't even put it back on the way I had it. Now my lock is extremely difficult to open. Thankfully I had nothing of value in there. I wish I would have read the reviews before renting from there. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I've only had this storage unit for a month and I'm already over it. Apparently you need a gate access code and a door code. They emailed and text me the gate code but no door code. During my move in I called them because I didn't know you needed a door code and they let me in. The lady in the office told me when I'm done to stop by and see her for a gate badge and door code. After I moved everything into my unit (30 min) I stopped by the office and no one was in. I tried calling and no answer. Today I tried to go in, just to find out the office is closed on Tuesdays. I called different locations and even their headquarters and no one can give me the code. The customer service individuals were extremely cold and not helpful at all but maybe I'm spoiled because other businesses seem to care about me, their customer. I will be looking for a new unit today. read more

According to WA State Law storage unit providers are NOT obligated to provide their renters with insurance. Public Storage does provide insurance for those who want it. However, I could not find anywhere in WA State Law saying that the renter is required to have insurance. The law only says that the occupant is responsible for the personal property - not the storage provider. Here is the statute I found in the WA State Code and a link to that code. Chapter 19.150RCW 19.150.130 Owner not obligated to provide insurance. Any insurance protecting the personal property stored within the storage space against fire, theft, or damage is the responsibility of the occupant. The owner is under no obligation to provide insurance. I went to this Public Storage location because it met my needs of having the best deal and being the nearest. I did not expect their request for insurance coverage. I went ahead and agreed to the $10 a month insurance on their contract. However, I informed the employee it was my intent to confirm with my home owners insurance that I was already covered and that I wanted a refund of the $10 when I confirmed this. The employee did not know if a refund could be had. When I called my home insurance company I discovered that my current policy didn't cover storage units. However, I was able to extend my coverage to the unit once I provided the location and the amount I wanted the unit covered. My unit was a 5x5 and I decided to cover it for $2,000. The cost on my new insurance would only add $20 annually. The next day I took proof of insurance to the office. A new contract was signed, this time having me waive the offered insurance. The new contract was attached to the old one. I'm finding this facility secure. You need both gate and door codes to access. The unit I have is dry and I like that the door is on the inside of the building and not on the outside. I've personally used a storage facility before, but I'm very comfortable with this one and it's meeting my needs. read more

After purchasing a used RV in October I needed a place to store it for a few months. Haven't even used it. This location had a decent price, code only entry, cameras and a fence. The location was good for me. I don't recall insurance even being discussed at all and to be honest I didn't think of it. Only a couple of weeks went by and I got a phone call from them saying that it had been vandalized. I planned to put it in a repair shop but needed two extra days. Of course they wanted a full monthly payment,which I refused. I was out of state but had family help me out. My sister said the fence was only 6'. Tried to file a police report but they weren't interested unless the storage facility filed a burglary report. Well, as it turns out they don't do that unless the business property was damaged..So, I was sol.They couldn't care less about the customers. Customers stuff.. no liability at all. read more

THEIF ALERT KAREN THE NEW FRONT DESK LADY... I have been using facility over on a st for a long time my whole family uses this location. The new front desk lady cut my lock and removed alot of my belongings from out of the unit.she called me and I informed her that I was away for a funeral and would come in on the 27 to settle up my bill .I informed her that she was not to enter my storage unit. I came up and paid 234.00 and she looked a little confused and in shock that I made it up there . As soon as I seen my unit she practically ran away. I have called corporate and I'm looking to be reimbursed for my missing belongings. I hope they fire her she is rude unprofessional possibly a tweeker read more

I was lured in by online advertisement that the first month was a dollar. It wasn't and I'm sure there was a small asterisk somewhere so I moved on. Service fee on the lease signing is way over priced. The biggest sin though is the gate hours. I moved on a weekend. The gate hours are actually SHORTER ON A WEEKEND. Ive never seen anything so stupid from a storage facility. It has an automatic gate like all facilities by other names and it actually locked me in because 5pm closing isn't good enough when I have a rental van to return. They even sent a warning text because I gated out after hours. My bad for not reading all the fine print or I would have gladly taken my business elsewhere. Moving was exhausting enough and my rent is paid for the month but I will be looking for another facility ASAP. I don't usually bother with reviews but this business seems to be flourishing despite being total garbage. Anyone I can prevent from making the same mistake I made makes it worth the time to write this. read more

This placed sucked very unprofessional, I was robbed of most all my things and they seem to care less ,they offered no help, even with 3 surveillance cameras and two security codes to gain interest and yet they wouldn't provide to me or the police any useful information to find the theif or thieves , almost like a inside job , wouldn't recommend them to anyone who cares about their things , because they apparently don't !!!!!! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This place changed the hours from something useful to the worst hours possible. Why is it that they close at 6 on the weekdays and 5 on the weekends when all the other public storage close much later??? I work on the weekends until 5 and by the time I get there I have the staff coming up to me telling me I have to leave. I don't recommend this place at all and will be looking for a new place to move to and will be telling my friends the same. read more

I have visited this location several times for supplies and everyone has been very friendly. It seems that mo matter who is working, my needs are always taken care of. The property manager, Jenn, is absolutely fabulous and today Lorraine took great care of me. I was able to get boxes and inquire about storage all in one trip. I was concerned about security, but she put my mind at ease by letting me know that daily locks checks are done to ensure security. I feel like my stuff will be safe here, when i am ready to rent and for a $1, you really can't beat it. read more

I went to this facility on June 6, 2011 to inquire about a storage unit for my employer's use. The young saleslady quoted me a price, and then showed me the unit. After returning to the office to sign papers, she told me that there would be an additional charge (above and beyond what she quoted me) because it was MANDATORY that I purchase storage (renter's) insurance to protect our goods. I told her that our company did not need to purchase insurance because we already have insurance coverage. She said that the purchase was mandatory because our policy more than likely does not cover off-site storage. I informed her that I know it does because we are a construction company and all of our projects are "off site". She then told me that it was a Washington state law that I have proof of insurance for a storage unit. If I wished, I could purchase her insurance, and then later return with proof of insurance from my employer's carrier and then the premium would be refunded. I said that is nonsense and that there is no such law. She again insisted that there was a state law that mandated insurance. She then proceeded to pull a paper out of a file cabinet and shoved it in front of me to read. She explained that the paper is from Washington State and explains the law and is proof of the law. She looked at me like I was an idiot for not believing her. The paper was 100% full of fine print legal wording. Unfortunately for her, I happen to be very fluent in legal documents. I could instantly tell it was nothing more than a blank Certificate Of Insurance from her insurance company that explains the policy in detail. I decided right then and there I would not give my business to anyone who is trying to deceive me. I told her this as I walked out the door and typed "storage" into my GPS and made a beeline direct to the nearest competitor. Since that competitor did not have a storage unit of the size I wanted on the ground floor, I then went to the next closest place which was Hosmer Self Storage, also known as A1 Hosmer Self Storage. Although I arrived one minute prior to closing, the friendly agent stayed open and showed me a unit which was nicer than Public Storage's, at a cheaper rate. Included with the rental were five free boxes, a roll of tape, and a disc-type lock! NO STORAGE INSURANCE WAS REQUIRED! read more

we had a phone call that our trailer 'looked odd' when they did a security check. we went out, and someone had pried the door open,and broken the latches on the windows. they went through every drawer and cupboard and ransacked our stuff. of course, they don't insure anything, so even though we are paying them to keep it safe, it isn't. they wouldn't even give us tape to tape the window shut. read more

I had stored a vehicle in one of the parking spot for about a year. I removed the vehicle and cancelled online. Two weeks later I got another bill for the usual amount. When I spoke to the staff on site they explained that there was a notice sent out that their cancellation policy had changed. I explained that I never received a notice and therefore was not responsible for the charges. There was some confusion on their part as to where the notices were being sent from, but couldn't produce a copy of it. They were still insistent that I had to pay to clear the account. One of the staff which I can only assume was the Manager or Owner because I have never been spoken to in that way. At least not by anyone who cared about their job. I was told that they would do everything they could to damage my credit over the $45 bill. In the end I paid it, but only so I never have to deal with the worst customer service and shady business practices that I have ever had to deal with. My advice to anyone looking for storage in this area, go somewhere else. It's worth it in the long run. read more
