Perfect the second time around. We visited last night for dinner and it was fantastic. Thank you Josiah for really taking care of us at the bar. Food and drink were great. I highly recommend saving room for dessert. The fried brownie with all the toppings could be the best sweet treat I have ever eaten. The reason I started by saying perfect the second time around is because we dined here on Thanksgiving and didnt have the best experience, but when I voiced concern Pucketts invited us back. Server was very nice. That's why this is not a 1 star review. The ribs I was served last night (10/14/23 ) were totally unacceptable. I appreciate that I was not charged for them when I sent them back, but really someone important should know just how bad these were and help the kitchen do better. Size: very thick and meaty looking - the only good thing I can say about them. Appearance: they were the color you get when you roast a marinated pork loin - pale with almost no browning - gross looking for ribs. Taste: If they had any of the promised dry rub on them, I could not taste it over the one bit of the baked beans I tried before the ribs. Basically they tasted like a plain pork chop. I would have just chalked it up to this being a joint where things need to be sauced, but Memphis style typically means no sauce should be necessary AT ALL and the texture was way way off. Texture: I could not pull the ribs apart with my hands. I could not cut the ribs with the table knife. They were so tough I had to stab in between the first two ribs with the knife to get a start and ended up having to twist and tear them apart with my hands because the knife couldn't get through the meat at the end. I took a bite and found it tough and dry and hard to chew - hurt my jaw and tough bits stuck between my teeth like a softer jerky. Basically they chewed like a very overcooked pork chop. I don't know if they were overcooked so there was no moisture left or under cooked where the fat had not really rendered yet, but it was just terrible. I can only think of one time I've had ribs out that was worse than this. There is NO WAY the kitchen didn't notice how tough these were before they tried to serve them. They had almost no flex and surely were hard to separate into two halves. I've mucked up ribs on my own at home similar to this and was embarrassed to serve them to my family - the kitchen needs to have way higher standards than my kitchen table. Initially the waitress offered to get fresh ones. When she came back, she told me the kitchen said all of the ribs were from the same batch and would be the same. That statement makes me wonder how the kitchen is run that you'd have a whole batch of bad food - where's the pit master? Chef? Why not just say you're out of ribs instead of seeing what you can get away with serving? She offered to bring me something else, but honestly I came in for ribs based on the supposed article on TravelAwaits.com and the trip advisor reviews and after having such a horrible experience, I completely lost my appetite - really it was that gross to eat. I tried following the links to the article last night after we left - guess what? - Puckett's isn't on the list! The waitress also offered a free dessert. Again - my family was already mostly done and full and I was still totally turned off. Why would I want a dessert without even having had dinner? I'm fairly put off that a manager never came over to say anything, that I had to pay 11.00 for parking for such crappy food, that all that was comped was my entree. Also, my wife had the brisket and pork plate, she said the pork was good, but the brisket was dry. I tried a bit and agree the brisket was dry. Seems to be a bit of a causal, touristy spot since it's right beside the aquarium. I came alone and sat at the bar and the service was great. I ordered the Music City Hot Chicken sandwich and while it wasn't hot enough for me, I'm sure anyone would enjoy the flavor and the crispness of the chicken. Overall, 3.5 since I usually give 3 stars instead of 4 when it's right in the middle. After doing a segway tour, I was referred to check out Puckett's because I just want some yummy chicken. We didn't eat all day so was famished! Since I parked the car across from the segway location and paid for parking the whole day, I wanted to eat somewhere in walking distance. Puckett's is only a few blocks away on the main road and across from the TN Aquarium. Walking in, I thought it'll be more casual since grocery is part of the name, or at least like Buffalo Wings across the street, instead it has a bar scene. I didn't see what the grocery part of the restaurant is, maybe cause they sell their homemade bbq sauce and got Puckett's swag. I did look online and it's a TN thing with five locations only in TN. Their bbq sauce is Memphis style, why not? It's in TN. Besides, Chattanooga is the only one that is farther away from the others since the other four are closer to Nashville. We had a welcoming greeting and sat us down right away. Looking through the menu, wasn't sure what to order. Waiter said they have a weekend platter special where you get one meat and two side dishes. Sold! I ordered chicken (dark), onion rings (upcharge), and creamy corn (special of the day). My daughter ordered pork, macaroni (upcharge), and french fries. Our meals came out fairly quick. I didn't like the fact that my pieces were fried chicken. I was hoping to get smoked dark chicken so I was a little disappointed there. Onion rings were big but tasted average and creamy corn was good. I tasted the pork, which was pulled, but tasted no smokiness. I prefer to taste it on the meats and not be drenched in bbq sauce for flavor. Both dishes came out with this pancake bread thingy with butter on top. It taste like it has jalepenos in it but it was not spicy at all. Although the waiter is nice, he was not attentive since I needed a water refill, instead he was trying to upsale by persuading to order dessert. This happened at least three times. My water finally got refilled after I was done but too late. I was drinking water from my daughter instead. I never did ask for a refill so it didn't matter. Not a bad place but overall is average. This use to be TGIF's location next to the Aquarium. I have been here once before and I went to listen to Roger Alan Wade (RAW) play on Friday night I think. They have a small selection of draught beer (+1) and mixed drinks (I think). It is a country atmosphere and apparently, a chain, I didn't know that. Lots of tables and the place is big with table in front and back of the place along with a bar. Parking lot in front of the restaurant is republic so pay 24/7 and in most cases you will pay during normal business hours for street parking. They have a stage for live music and it was good even for kids to attend. It was a 12 dollar cover which I thought was high but hey, RAW is worth it. Service was good so had no complaints, and the place was packed. I was not hungry so ordered the sausage/cheese appetizer. OMG it was sooo good an sooo much it was hard to eat it all. The sausage was sliced and seasoned with a BBQ type sauce which I really liked. On each end of the plate was various cheese flavor is small squares along with a basket of crackers. It is a great place to bring a family but for a date, probably not a place to impress. However, based on this one meal it would get a 5 but I have a real weakness for sausages and beer so a little bias. read more

I have been coming here for 2 years about every other Friday night. I love their food. The staff is excellent! They have live music every Friday and Saturday night. It's just a hop, skip and a jump for me to get there.... very convenient for my neighbors and myself, But, we are getting bored of waiting for the live music to start at 8 pm and can rarely get anyone to join because there's soooo many live bands in Chattanooga that start way earlier. The restaurant is in a central location, right next to the Tennessee Aquarium. There is plenty of parking nearby. We chose this restaurant because it had a good variety of options from wings to BBQ. Although it was a Friday evening at 5:30, we were greeted and seated immediately. The waitress was fantastic, making suggestions and giving us time to look. We decided on the hot wings, a fried chicken sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich. We substituted sweet potato fries in place of the regular fries. Our waitress came by frequently to check on us and refill our drinks. It did start getting busy about 6:30 when we were leaving but it still didn't seem like there were a lot of people waiting. The food was delicious and the service was great. This was my second time eating there and I will definitely go back on our next trip to Chattanooga. read more

This was the best meal we had during our stay in Chattanooga. We arrived right before the lunch rush so luckily didn't have to wait for a table. As soon as we walked in we both agreed it smelled amazing. We didn't look at the menu or know anything about the restaurant we just went because it was right next to the aquarium but we were so glad we did! I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the meatloaf and we split a side of Mac and cheese. Every bite was delicious. They were also easily about to accommodate the substitution requests. The fruit tea is a must try I think I drank 4 glasses. The stand out was the customer service. We joked all weekend that we just have awful luck with servers. Not here Erin was so friendly checked in frequently quick with drink refills and made us seem very welcomed. My husband and I came here for lunch after visiting the aquarium on a Monday afternoon (around 11ish) and were seated right away. Our waiter, David, was super friendly and attentive, anxious to help us with the menu and give us recommendations (about the food and about things to do in Chattanooga)! Hubby got the "Meat & 3" with the pulled pork, mashed potatoes, cowboy caviar, and broccoli, and I got the Mojo burger, per David's suggestion. Umm, YUM! The barbecue was so, so good, and their spicy sauce was perfect and smoky. We both cleaned our plates and were pretty stuffed for the rest of the day. Excellent ribs and amazing service! I came in from out of town hungry and a little early for dinner but they were open and seated me immediately. I chose to sit at the bar since I was solo. Bartender Matt helped me with a whiskey recommendation and let me know it was happy hour on the appetizers. I tried the bbq pork ribs which thankfully came out quickly and were really good and there were about twice as many as I expected. Perfect amount. To balance things out I also got the Cobb salad which was also great and a nice size portion; I took about half with me. We visited for lunch last week, after a jaunt through the aquarium. Food was great, so was the beer selection, the moonpie stout was outstanding. Pulled pork sandwich and fries was tasty, especially topped with slaw and Puckett's original bbq sauce. Piggy mac and cheese, and the kids chicken tenders, both GREAT. We like it so much we went back for dinner the same night, we had the pimento cheese bites, they were warm and filling, the pepper jelly made them perfecto. We then shared the fried chicken plate, with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Kiddo wanted those chicken tenders again. Of course I had to have another one (maybe two) of those moonpie stouts. Service was great during lunch and dinner, food arrived hot and fresh. Live music at night, which was also enjoyable. I wish I had taken more pics, but all that made it before taking a bite, or a sip, were the pimento cheese bites, the moonpie stout, and a blackberry tea. Came here an evening after the aquarium very handy location and parking. We had the smoked wings appetizer honey bbq and it was so good. Sweet tea is southern sweet. My last visit here was not so great and I probably wouldn't have come back again. However, I was invited back with a $25 gift card to give them another opportunity to serve me. I came in with two of my friends and asked to sit at the patio since we brought our dog. We had McKenzie as our server and she suggested the Whiskey Glazed Wings ($9.99) which we ordered with the Southern Fried Chicken ($14.99). The wings came out promptly and they were absolutely delicious. They exceeded my expectation and are some of the best wings I've ever had. The skin was crispy, meat juicy, and the flavor was nice and sweet. The Southern Fried Chicken takes about 25 mins to make, but came out around the same time we finished our appetizer. We got mac & cheese and mashed potatoes with brown gravy as our sides and they were both very good. The chicken was crispy, not too greasy, and tasted great. We shared the food between us three girls and we were all perfectly satisfied by the time we finished. Everything was delicious but the wings were definitely my favorite. McKenzie was a great server! She was friendly, helpful, and made sure we had a great experience. She even offered to get our pup some water. Overall, very happy I came for another visit. Yummy!!! My husband was very excited to take me here after eating here once. I talked him into sharing the piggy mac and cheese. It's mac and cheese with pulled pork. Fabulous! His smoked sausage and cheese appetizer platter was wonderful as well. I enjoyed my Farmer's punch which has some moonshine in it. I went with a small salad with homemade dressing and it was a great choice for a hot summer evening. Overall meal was great and I would suggest anyone in town stop by and try this place. Went here on a Saturday for breakfast while making a weekend to Chattanooga. First, the Bloody Mary was made very well and had just the right amount of spice. Had the omelette with pulled pork in it and it was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and funny. Highly recommend a stop at Puckett's for breakfast or dinner. read more
