I was provided a specials menu in addition to the regular menu. I was offered bread, but I declined so as not to go into an evening food coma. I ordered iced tea and was pleased with what tasted freshly brewed. Within 10 minutes, my food was out, and it was a hearty chop steak, cooked to medium as I requested, with flavorful gravy and cooked mushrooms and onions. The mashed potatoes were good, but I'd try a different side next time. The Mac and cheese was great, and I'd likely order that again.

I hadn't realized before that there is a large room to the right of the bar area. We were there for a somewhat early dinner at 6pm on a Saturday and the place was bustling! We decided to split the roasted beet salad which also came with herbed goat cheese. Our server brought the salad on two plates- already divided. The salad was absolutely amazing!! I am seriously still craving it and the portion was so large that I couldn't even finish my half. Our server promptly boxed it up before our entrees were served. For the main course, I ordered one of the specials- scallops with rice sauteed with spinach. My friend had pork roast with carrots, which was a large portion - no complaints and she took home leftovers for another meal. I'll speak to my scallops... They were perfectly prepared, but there were only three scallops and a plentiful serving of rice and spinach. I love spinach and this side was very well seasoned. It didn't take long to eat the three scallops and the spinach pieces in the rice. I definitely enjoyed my meal, but wished for even one more scallop. Since my entree was a special that was verbally announced, I didn't know the price until I saw the bill. While it was delicious, I found the $41 charge a bit steep. The Standard is exceptional in almost every way- service was impeccable, amazing food, lovely ambiance- but be prepared for a pricey evening. My friend and I had a very enjoyable time and I definitely recommend this restaurant. I will say, however, that it can be difficult to talk because it is so busy. While reviewing the transactions, I realized the amount they had authorized to my card was $10 more than our bill+tip. I used to be a server and worked at a bank so I know how authorizations work so I patiently waited until it cleared. My worst fears were confirmed! Not only did she not return my debit card after payment, apparently she was upset with her 12% tip and added a 1 to my tip to make it +$10! I called pretty upset on Monday afternoon and talked to a manager named Collin who seemed to not care about the issue. No apologies, only to promise to talk to the owner to see if they could do something for me since I lived out of state. I waited until Friday to call them back and was told by the hostess that Natalie would be calling me back later as she was on a call. She did call back about 1 1/2 hours later and said she had already refunded my card for the $10 and that she had looked at the receipt and it appeared I had issues writing with the pen so she could see how the server (Caitlyn) could have thought the tip was $16. 25! I let her know I had no issues with the pen and anything other than my 6.25 on the receipt was added by her server. I told her I was worried for all of the other tables where she had given bad service to and she had done the same thing. She said the server already gave the store back the $10 and apologized for the confusion. Sorry, there was no confusion here! There are good burgers and there are great burgers and these both were great. Cooked perfectly with a nicely grilled bun. Fresh shredded lettuce, tomato and sliced pickle added. Plentiful fries browned and seasoned well. A 10-15 minute promise and everything was ready. Condiments, plastic ware and napkins also sufficient. Price is reasonable and on Mondays they offer a burger special. Specials are offered on other days also. Check them out and happy eating!

My ONLY "complaint" and it's not even a complaint, just something I wish was different... they no longer serve bread/rolls!
