DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE UP! BLUF: This was the best food I've ever had at a truck stop-affiliated restaurant. The staff was pleasant, the food came out quickly, and it was delicious! I assume the locals know this is a great spot, but from the outside, it doesn't look like somewhere you would want to try. I walked in and was greeted by a lovely woman who asked if I wanted a booth or table. To the left was a bar, and to the right was the restaurant area. I was provided a specials menu in addition to the regular menu. I was offered bread, but I declined so as not to go into an evening food coma. I ordered iced tea and was pleased with what tasted freshly brewed. Within 10 minutes, my food was out, and it was a hearty chop steak, cooked to medium as I requested, with flavorful gravy and cooked mushrooms and onions. The mashed potatoes were good, but I'd try a different side next time. The Mac and cheese was great, and I'd likely order that again. read more

Best roadside pitstop surprise for us. Nondescript warehousy looking place from outside, thought we'd get shot in a honkytonk or something. Inside is a large dining area with both country and western music and amazing food. Had the brosted chicken (a must) and pork chop dinners. Both were excellent and inexpensive. Decent, plain food. Western decor. Many deep fried items. I ordered shrimp skewers, which were served with rice pilaf. The server assured us that the rice was gluten free, but it actually contained pasta. Fortunately, I didn't eat it. Service was pleasant and friendly. read more

The RV was in the campground and I was ready for some eats not prepared by me. We decided to give this place a try. As mentioned there is a fueling station attached to the back side and truck parking down the way. None of that was reflected in the interior of this restaurant. We were seated in the "saloon" section which is not that faraway from or different from the restaurant section. Neither of us were very hungry so we opted for appitizers. We hada chicken quesadilla and potatoes skins. We ate some and took some home. Service by the bartender was prompt and pleasant. read more

Late dinner, seated right away. We were greeted by a server promptly. The complimentary dinner bread was a nice touch, my daughter loves the bread. Time between placing our order and the food arriving was a little long, probably the reason our visit did not result in a 5 star rating. We were happy with our meals and the portions were spot on. Stopped for a quick bite at Winchesters since we had not been there in a while. The decor had changed a little and the waitstaff greeted us as soon as we walked in. A burger with fries and a patty melt on marbled rye with fries was nicely done. The idea of serving them in baskets was a cute idea and worked well. Pop and iced tea topped the meal. I can only comment on one alcoholic drink and a slice of pie. I got the Long Island ice tea. It was about $7.50...and weak. Very weak. At first I thought it was just so well blended I couldn't taste the alcohol but it had no effect on me :/ The coffee based alcoholic drinks were good tho, and much more affordable. I got a slice of the "buckeye pie" which is just really peanut butter pie. IT WAS SO GOOD. I loved every bite. A bit bummed my server said it was cheaper than it ended up being tho ($3.99) I'd recommend prices on drinks and deserts. And a desert menu. Also, some of the dishes are very well priced (like burgers) and others not at all - strand to have expensive things at a truck stop (it basically is). It was a popular place on a Saturday night. We had birthday celebrations this evening! We decided to enjoy the open outdoor patio - while we waited for a table , as we had a large group . They were so busy inside , we decided to order at the bar for our dinners , and - we were planning on carrying our orders out to patio ourselves to help out, as they didn't have service outside - ( the staff at the bar , was so accommodating, and generous to our party !! - they brought our appetizers , drinks and meals out to our party !! In the spirit of truck stops, this place definitely stands out as a hybrid greasy spoon and roughneck watering hole. But it works, and I can say I would go back the next time I'm in the FC (that's Fulton County, for all you city folk). Big Mama and Daddy took me here as one of the first dining out establishments on a trip home to see the family, and I was surprised by their menu. Not to be limited to deep fried frozen shrimp particles served with ranch dressing or deep fried mechanically-separated chicken served with ranch dressing, Winchesters offers daily specials that require forethought and preparation. A veggie lasagna in Northwest Ohio? Are we sure the Apocalypse didn't offer? The fish and chips were standard pub fare, but nonetheless good. The standout, however, were the spicy cheese cubes. Lightly beer battered pepper jack cheese cubes deep fried to a golden perfection and served with ranch dressing. These alone are worth a return trip. We saw my cousin here but he just walked on by. My husband and I found this place about 5 or 6 years ago when our daughter's high school basketball team was playing in nearby Evergreen. We drove a route that took us right past it, so we stopped. We were pleasantly surprised! Since then we have gone back many times and even introduced friends and family whom now are repeat diners. Don't get scared away because it looks like a regular old truck stop with all the semi's around. I think it's a great atmosphere with country western decor and staff has usually been friendly. My husband always gets the flatiron steak and I, of course, usally get the BBQ boneless grilled chicken. Both entrees come with 2 sides, which we had baked potatoes and a good sized salad. They also start you out with a small loaf of dark rye bread and butter of which I could eat the whole thing by myself if I didn't have to share with the rest of the table :) read more

First off: atmosphere. It's a truck stop. That is what you will be pulling in to...and telling everyone where you went to eat. They do a decent job inside of covering up the fact that it's a truck stop. Lot's of "old west" decorations. Plus some TVs that I'm pretty sure weren't in saloons. Beer on tap: Bud, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra and Amber Bock. Someone's an Anheuser-Busch fan... The parentals got the all you can eat fish and chips special, I didn't ask but I got the impression it was passable. I had the broiled chicken, with a Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. And it was...passable. Everything clearly came from a box/can/bag. But it was a decent meal for not wanting to cook, and not wanting to drive to Toledo for a meal...but it would never, ever be my first choice. read more

Stopped on our way through Ohio at dinner time on a Saturday. We were welcomed warmly and noticed there was a pretty good crowd. We had meatloaf. It was a large serving and tasted homemade, but my husband scraped the ketchup off the top of his. Mashed potatoes weren't freshly made but good with the gravy they had on them. This place is pretty ok for a truck stop eat-in. I've gone here a couple of times with friends and family. I've ordered the BBQ chicken cutlet's which were okay, but not spectacular. I had it with an appetizer of chilli which was rather good! Better than Wendy's chilli! I've ordered a ribeye steak and that was kinda meh. If you want GOOD steak, I reccommend Sullivan's in Wauseon. Winchester's steaks are very dry and will be too well done if you ask for medium well or rare. With the steak I had mashed potatos snd gravy which tasted great, and mac n' cheese which I enjoyed as well. As for the service, it's alright. I noticed they take longer than some other restaurants to bring out the food. I'll try to explore more of the menue, I haven't given up yet! I still like going to this place for a casual outting with friends since it's not far like Toledo. Edit: 4/27/13: I really still love this restaurant. I found out that my favorite appetizer is the onion soup. It's the only place I get onion soup from that DOESN'T burn the cheese! It's great! Also, try the cinnamon butter biscuits. I went here with a large group for the first time over the weekend. We were seated in a private room for parties. Their service was excellent and the servers did a great job keeping up with our large party (20+). Our drinks were always refilled quickly. We had to wait a little longer than usual for our food, but that is to be expected with such a large group. I had their southwest chicken salad with their in-house black bean salsa. The salad was excellent and the chicken cooked perfectly. Their salsa was very flavorful and it had a nice little kick to it. I also shared some of their plain chicken wings with the party. The chicken wings were super crunchy and well cooked, which I love! I would definitely recommend for dinner if you are in the area. read more

We stopped here on our way cross country. I got the grilled cheese on Texas toast and he ordered a BLT. Both come with chips and a pickle but can subsitute fries for extra. Food was delicious. Got the wing special this afternoon..don't bother! Overcooked and the tiniest wings I have ever seen. The bones were black inside once the small amount of meat was removed. Yuk! Winchester's usually has great food but the wing special was just awful. When we told our server Matt, he said that's probably why they are on special!!?? First time I have had a male server in the restaurant. Disappeared for long periods of time and did not come refill soda timely or to check on us after we were served. We are traveling through Ohio on the turnpike and found this restaurant on Yelp. It's about a 1/4 mile south of the turnpike exit. The food and service were good. We ordered the salmon and fried chicken. The waitress was friendly and took the time to chat with our kids. We have leftover fried chicken in the car and I don't think it will ever make it into a refrigerator. It smells so good I will probably snack on it at the next stop. We would definitely stop here the next time we drive through Ohio. read more

We went to dinner at Winchester's on Friday night. My sister ordered the loaded chunks with tator tots, cheese and bacon and the soup. My nephew got plain chunks and fries. I ordered mild chunks and fries. When our orders came out, their orders were right, but our waitress brought me loaded chunks, as well, and no fries. I pointed it out and she said oops, I thought you wanted loaded too. We had already waited 1/2 an hour for our order, so I said I'd just eat the loaded chunks and share my nephew's fries. My sister asked for the complimentary bread that you usually get, she never brought any. And when our bill came, she charged me for the loaded chunks! So I paid for something I didn't order and only ate a 1/4 of them. It will be a long while before we try this restaurant, again. $50 for 3 people and not even what we ordered! read more

Smelled greasy when we walked in. I ordered vodka rocks. It was served in a glass not much bigger than a shot glass. We were not impressed with the menu. Steaks seemed pricey. We left after finishing our cocktails and went to Delta 109 which is where we should have gone in the first place. read more
