The Jalea Mixta was superb. One could easily call that a meal. But then I had to have the Pescado a lo Macho. It is a whole fish with lots of bones. I love this kind of fish but most want a fillet, so be advised if you are unfamiliar. If you know how to eat fish with lots of bones this is about as good as it gets. The fish was fried hard enough to crispy the small bones and turn them into something that crunches like a potato chip yet the meat was perfectly done. I eat the crunchy bones. They are the best! And the sauce and other bits in the dish. Oh my. We also had a mussel dish and I forget the name but it too was amazing. It's not on the online menu shown on Yelp. The actual menu was a lot more interesting than the one shown here. Cooking fish means you can't overcook it and all of it was done just on point. I was shocked the place wasn't backed up out the door on a Saturday night. The place was clean, the service professional and well the food you can see. I rarely give five stars but for this place, I have to because the food was so good. The bar looked nice and well stocked but I didn't try it as the food was too compelling and I got absorbed by it. Took a long, leisurely drive up the coast and were hungry by the end so we stopped off for an early-ish dinner. The view is lovely and the food is fantastic. I kicked the evening off with a very well made pisco sour and since my SO had been to Puerto 27 before he ordered the empanadas and tequenos for us to snack on. Both were delicious. There were so many things I wanted to try... ceviche, paella, chicken stew... but for dinner I decided on the Adobo, which was more than enough for two people to walk away stuffed. Chunks of tender pork with creamy beans and perfectly cooked rice in a comforting thick broth. Wonderful and cozy. My SO had the Churrasco which was equally delicious. Expertly seasoned steak with a sunny side up egg and plantains... Some of my favorite things. I was full by the end of dinner, but my SO ordered the mango cheesecake so I tried a bite and it was great. We also shared a little glass of 1921 Tequila Cream, which is a wonderful alternative to Baileys. I'm going to get a bottle for home, in fact, and I'm so glad our server suggested it. Service was terrific, especially given the covid related challenges. Parking can be difficult. It's a steep lot with a few levels, so to speak, and the spots are kind of small. All spots were full and it's a little difficult to turn around or wait for someone to leave so eventually we just found a spot a block away on the street, which was fine. There's also a paid lot across from the restaurant though, so that makes things a bit easier. I can't wait to visit again. Love this restaurant! Found it during covid because of the hotel located right up the hill next to them. We were having an overnight staycation away from the city and all I wanted was a big bathtub! We arrived too early to check in, so we stopped in for lunch and we are SO GLAD we did! This place has a great view of the ocean. They have a tented outdoor dining area as well as a deck with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The first time my honey and I went, we ate inside. All the staff wore masks and people were seated well distanced from one another. The second time we met another couple of friends there for Valentines Day weekend and we sat in the tent. It was VERY windy but pretty cozy inside the tent. I still needed to wear my coat but I was prepared since I knew it would be outdoor dining and it is RIGHT ACROSS from the ocean. All the Pisco drinks are delicious. Our favorite entree is the branzino fish dish with the curry. It is a stand out dish! My husband and I talk about that dish often and when they were closed for shut down we waited with baited breathe until we could go again! We also love the ceviches. Our friends ordered the lomo saltado which was also delicious and very generously portioned. There was another fish that had an over easy egg on it. Can't remember what it was called but it looked yummy! And our friend said it was legit. All in all - this is an amazing restaurant. They are safe, delicious and in a beautiful location. When there's a pandemic going on, it's really nice to be able to dine outside on the patio and have a freakin' nice view of Pacifica Beach. And how can I not enjoy a kick-ass Pisco Sour?? Before heading to the beach, the three of us stopped by at Puerto 27 for lunch. We started with fried sweet plantains. Yum. Then we moved on to our main course. The Seco de Cordero was a little heavy for lunch, but it was delicious. The lamb was so tender it fell off the bone easily. Unfortunately, it's not on their menu anymore. Maybe it will come back someday. I liked it a lot, but I'd order something different next time. I was able to taste the Pan Con Lomito Sandwich. I would order that next time! The steak was cooked well, and it was really tasty with veggies and aioli! The fries were perfect as a side dish. It was really cute how the sandwich was heart-shaped. I always pass by this place whenever i drive past the beach. It always looks like there are many people waiting in line to eat here so naturally I wanted to try it to see what the hype was. The staff is friendly and loved the outdoor seating. If you come on a good day where the sun is out, you get the ocean view which is so relaxing. The food came out and it was just as delicious as it looked. The calamari sampler was good and the Salmon ceviche was also delicious. I dont think it was an actually ceviche, it was called something else, because the salmon is cut into thin strips. We asked for plantain chips to eat with the salmon and it was the bomb.com. Those plantain chips are crispy lightly salted and perfect. Unfortunately we did not get any alcoholic beverages, but the table next to us had some and all of them looked artistically created. Those girls drank all of their drinks though. So I can imagine that the drinks tasted fantastic. Maybe I'll have one of those next time I come. When I came here I didn't order a single dish... mostly because after reading reviews from fellow Yelpers, I convinced myself that everything was too overpriced for what it was. So here's a cocktail review! I got to taste the Pisco Sour and the Paloma Beach, both of which I felt were not strong in quality or flavor or presentation. I really thought the Pisco Sour would be similar to a whisky sour but it wasn't at all. Nor was it frothy from the egg white. The Paloma beach also tasted like it had ZERO ounces of tequila and was toooo sour for my liking. The fourth star here is - The View. Located across a 2 lane highway from the Pacific Ocean, on a slight hill, this restaurant has perfect vistas. On this visit we had chicken empanadas which were delicious. We also orders crispy fried plantains which sounded delicious. A plate of slimy very oily soft grilled plantains arrived. The manager came over to explain they didn't do crispy for lunch - but it is a m the menu and our waiter didn't tell us the situation. Awkward. My friend ate them but I declined. Too oily. (Oil was slick across the entire plate.). We had a lava cake for dessert - dark chocolate and pretty good. But menu said with berries. See picture. Half of a strawberry cut into 1/4 pieces doesn't constitute berries. :( We had four empanadas (2 small per order); oily plantains, dessert and two coffees and bill was $70 before tip. , Nothing I would rush back for. While I understand that miscommunications happen, what followed was concerning. Upon informing the server of the mistake, the same dish was returned to me with the steak poorly picked out, leaving visible remnants. This not only showed the laziness but also raised serious concerns about cross-contamination, especially for individuals with allergies. Despite requesting a new dish, the subsequent one didn't restore my trust. When I raised the matter with the manager, their response was dismissive, focusing solely on the accident rather than addressing the laziness and potential health risks involved. He ended the conversation with "you don't have to pay for anything". Well, no kidding? Sir, I didn't eat anything. I walked out of there hungry and the resolution was "you don't have to pay for anything" Feeling unheard and concerned for others who might face similar issues, I searched for a more accommodating dining experience elsewhere. I found La Costanera in Half Moon Bay, where my requests were taken seriously, and the service was exceptional. I haven't tasted such thinly cut and adequately flavored wafers before. It's a nice snack to go with the drinks. For entrees we got the Aji De Gallina(chicken stew) and Quinoa Chaufa. The chicken stew had a rich creamy sauce and the pulled chicken was cooked appropriately. I enjoyed the blend of flavors and felt the portion size was on the larger end of the spectrum. The quinoa came out pretty good as well. It had an interesting medley of components and it's a good choice for vegetarians/vegans. If you live in Pacifica, you have to try Puerto 27 at least once. And if you're visiting, it's nice if you're seeking something a little more upscale than you're typical Pacifica restaurant. It's a big restaurant with high ceilings and large windows that offer a great view of the beach across the street. My favorite thing to order here are the cocktails, ceviche, and paella. I actually prefer the paella over some of the more traditional Peruvian dishes, like the Lomo Saltado. The Saltado I found was lacking in flavor or anything to make it stand out. read more
