excellent bossam place! so tender and flavorful. the granny bossam is best for 2 people while the virgin bossam is meant for 3-4. other than that, we were told there is not much different. like everyone says, the kimchi is delightful and i want to bring home. it is salty and savory but has also a nice kick / zing that other restaurants lack. it really tastes homemade! also got the seafood jjampong which had a good helping of shrimp and mussels and the soup was quite refreshing. our server was great and refilled our banchan without us asking. not the greatest banchan in federal way, but the egg soufflé was definitely one of the best i've had in awhile. gives more dive bar and casual vibes in here. great for a big group, harder to try more stuff if it's just 2 people. portions are very generous. want to try seafood pancakes next time read more

Nice divey Korean restaurant/bar with some excellent dishes that one would normally have at a bar in Korea. We had the bossam and Jokbal combo which was a great deal at $42.99. While the bossam is more popular, the jok bal I thought was better - not dry, super soft and flavorful. But the bossam also had some awesome kimchi and a lot of it, so we were very happy. We went around 9:30pm, it got really busy on a Wednesday night! I'm glad they are opened till 12am. We ordered couple dishes and I am obsessed with the cheese rice cakes! So cheesy, so chewy, not crazy spicy with a hint of sweetness. The seafood pancakes were so crispy and perfect with the dipping sauce. The bulgogi was okay, it tasted overcooked, and a very strong taste of undercooked oil. It's a very distinctive taste of that. The side dishes were delicious! They took a long time to get the dishes out. So we waited quite some time. And took extra long for rice which they forgot couple times :( but it's okay, it was really busy. I tried the bossam, kimchi stew, and tonkatsu cheese rice. The kimchi was very fresh, not too sour, and pretty spicy (both in the bossam and in the stew). The pork was very tender and the tonkatsu was very thin and crispy, though I think the sauce that came with the katsu was a tad too sweet for me. My girlfriend and I went here on a date at about 9 PM. The restaurant was packed, but it was only a 20 minute wait. The food is always amazing. Bogul Bogul Cafe is a go-to spot for me when I'm visiting. The portions are great and there is a big variety of side dishes. The bossam is always a must. It's served with cabbage kimchi and radish/pear kimchi. The meat is tender and not dry at all and the veggies served with it help cut the fat. I will always order this when coming to the restaurant. The kalbi was tender and juicy. Generally when I go to a Korean spot, I judge the quality of ingredients. These ribs were not thin at all, but also not overly thick. The meat to fat ratio was perfect. We wanted a standard tofu stew with just tofu and veggies. They didn't have it on the menu. We asked and the server was very accommodating to our request. The soup was flavorful and slightly spicy, just the way we wanted. The side dishes are delicious and the fact that you get a steamed egg with your meal is great. When we went it was quite empty with just a few tables. It was on a Saturday at around 7pm but I guess good for us because we had a bigger party. Environment: very Korean like, lots of lights, kpop on tvs and different partitions. Staff: friendly and checked with us when we pressed the little button. They were great and I liked how some were spicy but more were not and they were good and kind when we asked for refills 2. We ordered the bossam and jokbal. The kimchi was very spicy to me but I used the lettuce wraps and they also had nappa cabbage too which lightened the heat. The meats were very good and plenty to go around for everyone. 3. We ordered a bulgogi and it was cooked nicely, even if some parts were overcooked, it was still good and not hard. The flavors were nice as it was a good balance of sweet and savory. 4. Chicken tteokbokki that was a little spicy but with the cheese it helped and the chicken was very tender! 5. The seafood pancake had seafood, unlike other places I've had! Great late night spot in Federal Way! We came here only for the Bossam & it was amazing!! The pork was so soft, fatty, & flavorful, the fresh kimchi was crispy and spicy! Bogul bogul is a staple for late night korean cuisine. I ordered the tonkatsu for the first time and I was so impressed. The texture, taste and portion were all so good and I feel like most restaurants skimp out on one or the other. Your meal will also come with side dishes and even an EGG SOUFFLÉ... they had me at egg soufflé. It seems like most of the workers are all relatively on the younger side, so they're pretty nice and relatable to talk to. Since this place is open till midnight, the atmosphere can be on the louder side. But it's quite comforting with the seating arrangements and interior decoration of soju posters around. Also really good for big parties as their portions are a really good size. My daughter loves soft tofu soup, they only have one variety, with seafood but it was really good with shrimp,squid and a some clams in the shell. My friend & I both love the seafood pancake, it was nice and crispy with a soy based dipping sauce on the side. The rice cakes were super tasty, big slices of fish cake throughout the dish too, the sauce was good too...not too sweet or spicy, just right. We ordered beef short ribs & fried chicken wings as our protein dishes. The banchan was your usual bean sprouts, kimchi, fish cakes, mashed potato salad but it also included an egg soufflé which is one of my favorites...so extra points for including that to the beginning of our meal. The vibes was casual & easy for family style eating. I especially liked that they had a special buzzer for when you wanted the server to come back to the table. Food-wise, I will give it a 4. Their main specialty (Bossam) is amazing. Good portions, amazing kimchi, etc. If you're in a bigger group, I recommend adding extra meat for $10. The price was reasonable as well. Gobchang (Intestines) was just okay for me. Service was just okay as well. Not great but not bad. They have a bell that you press for service (like most Korean restaurants do) and it works. Servers come to you fairly quickly. While this is a decent spot for drinks, dinner, late night snack, I would say they could pay more attention to the cleanliness. I could smell a bit of Clorox on the plates and cups they use. They brought a cavalcade of tapas type plates that are normal with Korean food spots but none of them wowed either my husband or I. The only bright spot was a giant bottle of gochujang and spicy kimchi radishes. The stone pot bibimbap was only vaguely okay and I wouldn't order it again. My husband's chicken cheese bulgogi was better but looked slightly undercooked. Only time will tell if we will pay for the "good" rating posted on the door. It is nice that they are open late though. The tables and chairs along with the entire decor was trashy and lit like a night club once the house lights have come up. A group of my friends and I came late at night on the early half of the weekday. We live in Seattle and the Korean food in the city isn't that great, so we satisfied our Korean food craving by driving down to Federal Way since that's where the good stuff is at. Bogul Bogul Cafe ended up being the place we went to. It seems to be family owned and had a comforting atmosphere. On one side of the room you have a family eating together, another side is a couple of teens eagerly waiting for their food, and then another group were young adults sharing some drinks and laughter. It seemed like a community inside the restaurant which I liked. My friends and I wanted to go family style, so we had ordered the Budae Jjigae, the Cheese Chicken Bulgogi, and the Seafood Pancake/Pajeon. The Budae Jjigae was pretty standard and had everything you wanted, so it wasn't anything special. Seafood Pancake was just okay, I really like pajeon but this one didn't really do it for me. Now for the star of the show, the Cheese Chicken Bulgogi was really good! We finished that quicker than anything else. I think it would have been nice to eat it with some rice, or eat it over some soju. Overall I like this restaurant and would definitely come back with friends again. If dining in, be prepared to wait to be seated. Can't go wrong ever with bossam as it is their signature dish. The staff was friendly and service was solid, but everyone seemed a little disorganized (tables took a while to be cleared, some dishes came out 15 minutes after the others, etc.). The Seafood Pancake was perfect, and the soup and the banchan were very good, but the pork and the Bibimbap were pretty average.
