Had lunch here with a colleague last Tuesday. We were seated right away, it was a beautiful day out so we decided to eat on the patio. Our waitress was super friendly and brought everything out in a timely manner. I ordered a salad with shrimp. We shared a guacamole & chips. The salad portions are small so don't expect any left overs. The shrimp didn't have any flavor it could have used some seasoning and it could have been warmer! I like how there is another window view of the Kitchen from the Dining Room, but it was packed and there were a lot things going on in there. I like Ceviche as much as Fish Carpaccio, Tartar, or Sashimi. This time I went with the Ceviche zarandeado, it consist of Tuna, Serrano, Chipotle Crema, pickled Onions, and Corn Tostada. The Tuna was fresh. The Serrano had a bit of heat to it. The Chipotle Crema reminds me of like a sophisticated Sriracha Mayo. The sauce was bright. The pickled Onions really tied it together. The Corn Tostada felt authentic. The Herb Lime Rice was OK, it reminds me of Sushi rice. And the Molcajete salsa is somewhat more robust and smoky than some other regular salsas I had out there. The Pineapple Aqua Frescas was exquisite. I really like the presentation. I was thinking this was going to be a 4.0-4.2 stars, but I give this 4.3/4.4 stars. read more

I was looking (a little last minute) for a great Mother's Day lunch spot, and they had ample reservations when I booked, which was a relief. Even with it being one of the busiest days of the year, the service was impeccable! Our waitress was incredibly kind, helpful and on top of everything we needed (even before realized, ie bringing fresh water and basket of chips). The free Tres Leches cake for Mother's Day was also incredible, and a really fun treat for everyone! The tacos, while a little pricey, were delicious! My 8 year old niece who was worried about trying an enchilada (and is a really picky eater) devoured her short rib enchilada. I was shocked watching her eat it lol. We have now been here twice - service was good, we had some tasty appetizers, but the tacos are not quite good enough to justify their high price points. Here's what we ordered: -Classic Guacamole (5/5) -Potato Taquitos (5/5) *These are the BEST thing on the menu. You have to try these! And be sure to add the garlic chili oil, it really completes this. -Baja Fish Taco (4/5) A nice big piece of fish, but overall the taste is a little bland. Needed more (& hotter) salsa. -Short Rib Quesabirria Taco (3.5/5) Just not very impressive - you could save some money and get a far better quesabirria taco at Tacos El Patron. -Watermelon Agua Fresca (4.5/5) Refreshing! My partner really likes the Chicken Al Pastor Taco, and says it's better than the Quesabirria taco. His frozen mango margarita was refreshing on a hot day, but was lacking in flavor. The décor is modern and really cool. Prices are a bit high, like $10 bucks for a taco. They recommend ordering three! But man, when the food came out, it was beautiful! and delicious. The tacos were a generous slow braided filet that melted in the mouth with an avocado garnish. The taquitos had an awesome guacamole dip with a fantastic salsa on the side. We finally bypassed our go to shabu shabu resturant at the Veranda and tried Puesto just a few door away. I have always been curious to try upscale Mexican dining. Coming in the restaurant, I am impressed with its décor and sense of openness. Its ambiance is really warm and inviting. We came in during lunch on a weekend and there we not a lot of diners present a oppose to dinner time where I peek and see it is pack with customers. What comes along with this posh restaurant is a more expensive taco prices. I am not sure if the menu between lunch and dinner changes but we only was tacos on the list. Nevertheless, I ordered their Al Pastor, Filet Mignon, and Tamarindo Shrimp. We added Chicharrones as an appetizer for good measure. First off, I do like their tortilla that much. Whatever the taco it is, I taste the uniqueness' and freshness of Puesto's tortilla, kudos! The highlight of my meal was the Tamarindo Shrimp; its distinct tamarind flavors left a really good impression. The Chicharrones was such a sight to behold. Still crackling when it arrives on your table, it was perfectly crunchy and perfectly seasoned. It was also a revelation that a dash of lime really opens this appetizer up. The rest however were just alright. The salsa for the chips are absolutely devoid of spice. I asked for a spicer salsa and it didn't even tickle my tongue. The Filet Minion and the Al Pastor tacos were mediocre. I felt that I devoured the two tacos and that was that: no praise or criticism whatsoever. I guess I just got used to my go to taquerias; kicking you with an in-your-face flavors, not to mention a multitude of unique protein options and igniting your tongue with a small brush fire. Yum-0! Service was absolutely horrendous at the table the hostess and manager up front were great until we were seated. Our waitress/server was not the best, she made us wait longer than expected to order, it was not busy inside but lots of rsvps from what I heard. Once seated we had to look around to show we were ready to order. She came by and took our order but didn't ask us our drink orders, we had to remind her and she placed them. Orders came by and food was great but then we needed more water and our kids ordered agua fresca and they weren't asked for another order refills. We weren't refilled water jugs, the table had food plates that were finished and done and they weren't collected. She disappeared a while and we had to ask another waiter or server to put in the extra order for our daughter and son and the beer my husband wanted after that she came by and asked but we had already told the other server. Overall it was just not a great experience with the wait and having to ask for everything, the experience was not memorable and it wasn't seamless. I wouldn't go back to this location and the others I've been to were way better like Anaheim and Santa Clara. My husband was very disappointed in the service, although the quality of food was great he did not like the experience and having to ask for everything including refills, cleaning plates and other things. read more

I had a really poor experience at Puesto earlier this evening. It was my first time trying the restaurant, I sat with my wife and kid on the patio for dinner. We got drinks quickly although the order didn't come out quite right, it got resolved quickly. My toddlers food came out quickly too which is always appreciated, but the kids meal is laughably small and overpriced at $11. It's basically a *smaller* version of the $7 kids meal at Chipotle. Anyways, from that point on, our server never came back to our table. Never took my wife and my food order. Nobody else came by. Other tables who Sat after us promptly got their meals. I saw our server taking care of other tables inside through the window. After 30 mins I walked up to the hostess and asked for the check for our drinks and kids meal. The check had an extra item on it related to the botched drink order, but she took care of it quickly. I didn't get to try the food so I can't comment on that, but the prices seemed high ($10 for an a La carte taco, $25 for a bowl, $16 for a margarita) and the service was terrible, so I can safely say I won't be back. read more
