My experience with "Warren" At the counter, I asked Warren for an estimate on how much it would be to regrip my clubs. Without saying much, he grabbed my grips, scanned them, and said, "849 because you're not a member." In my head, I thought, how would you assume I'm not a member? Did you look at me and, based on stereotypes, decide that I'm not someone who should be golfing? In fact, I *am* a member. I didn't really understand him the first time because he spoke quietly and mumbled slightly, so I asked him to repeat himself. He replied in a stern tone, "Sorry?" I didn't feel I deserved this level of customer service as someone looking to spend money at your store, so I decided to leave. I didn't appreciate the lack of respect and customer service from Warren and went to have my clubs regripped at the PGA Superstore down the street. I'm sure there are other good employees who work at this store, but people like Warren prevent the game from reaching the next generation. An unfriendly and unhelpful attitude has no place in customer service. read more

I cannot recommend going to Puetz golf at Tukwila near Southcenter. The sales people are not helpful. The fitting area is not a good place to get fitted for golf clubs. They try to control and tell you what you need so they can make their commissions. The guy who does the driver fitting Ian is arrogant and unfriendly. A friend of mine said he damage his golf club while trying to fix it. I can't believe this guy is the store manager. That was what he told me when I complain about how the store was not properly performing to Puetz standards. If you like Puetz golf go to other locations. Needed a golf store to buy things I preferred to see and hold before buying, and this place came highly recommended by word of mouth. After years of a golf free lifestyle, the itch finally set in, and I needed to refresh my gear. Puetz comes to the rescue! Even though I originally purchased clubs, ball, and bag elsewhere, I ended up going with the purple highlights black bag I found here. What can I say, except that I'm a slave to matching colors!? They have all your basic stuff, and even though I'm far from an aficionado, I've been in my fair share of golf shops, especially when I was younger and shopping on a stricter budget. Puetz can definitely set you up right in the ways a thrift store or yard sale kit could never do. The store has a tight space but makes good use with a decent selection of product. I will definitely go here to build out my bag as I attempt to lower my handicap. They have quite a few speciality items, including ball markers with a variety of fun images stamped or engraved into metal. The people there seem really relaxed and helpful, even though I was able to find everything I needed within minutes. Shout out to Warren who helped me replace my entire bag. He was awesome! He was patient as we worked through testing a lot of different clubs and super knowledgeable about all the various equipment lines. He explained the benefits and then guided me to equipment that fit my swing. I am a "player" (groan), but he helped me see benefits of game improvement clubs now that I am only playing a few rounds a year. He didn't hesitate in showing me a great set of irons that were discounted and didn't push me to the most expensive set. When we went to choose wedges he was extremely detailed in selecting wedges that fit my play style in terms of bounce, sole grind, and lofts. The driver we picked was by far the straightest and comparable distance to the others. Super consistent. The irons were both the longest and most consistent and were definitely not clubs I would have thought I would choose. I couldn't be happier with Puetz and especially Warren. I expected to drop $3k to replace the whole set and we got it done for just over half that with a really great set of clubs. read more

This is tough ... and I feel as though I should take partial blame for the poor review but I felt harassed by an employee here and now refuse to go back. After visiting this store and spending a few hundred dollars (and having a good shopping experience) I went in one day only to be helped by a guy who was totally ogling me. Being petite and somewhat uncomfortable around guys who act like this ... I didn't really express how unwanted his advances were. I just felt like at some point he would notice how unprofessional he was being and sort of get back in line. I was buying a piece of equipment that can be used for taking clubs on an airplane. It was $30 and I really didn't want it but it was suggested to me. I figured I was better safe than sorry and then the employee told me, "Well.. buy it and return it later. Just don't mess it up and you can get your money back for it." HRMM.. As much as I appreciate the advice - I come from a family who owns their own businesses. I felt that this was really rude and disrespectful to the owners of the business. If my father hired someone like this, I'd be sure that he was made aware that his employees were more keen on meeting women and finding dates than making money for the company and being a good employee. Furthermore .. my purchase was small and he insisted on helping me to my car. UGHH. All I could think was .. "really? Wow.. I'm not coming back here after this." He asked my name (although he knew it because this store keeps a record of purchases if you sign up as a frequent buyer.) So .. he had access to my email, my phone number, and even my home address. I felt so awkward! He suggested we go golfing sometime ... I smiled and drove off. I'd love to shop here in the future but I don't even want to take my chances. I Never wrote a bad review before but this place staff flat out sucks. I used to buy all my equipment from here but after my last experience it's over never going back. I had a issue with my driver and asked if they could ask manufacture to replace it. They kept my driver for three weeks and flat out lied to me, told me everything would be taken care of. Had to call them multiple times to confirm what was going on still no progress I finally got fed up and called manufacturer to see what's up found out that puetz never even call!! Wtf I called puetz back complaining didn't even get a sorry or we messed up! This place sucks the sales people dont give a rats ass. After 25 years of being a Puetz customer, they have seen the last of me. A particular golf club was recommended to me at the golf show demo booths (Puetz sponsors the golf show). When I took the written recommendation to Puetz, they said they could not help me because they did not have the particular shaft, although the manufacturer said the shaft is one they provide to Puetz. Apparently Puetz did not want to check their other stores. So I went to a competitor and that store was willing to take the shaft from a different club model (same manufacturer) and put it in the driver head recommended to me by the manufacturer. The store was also willing to provide a discount because an third competitor had the club on sale. Puetz seemed to be more interested in getting a sale and sending me out the door with a club configuration that was not what the manufacturer recommended. read more

Found a good deal on a putter here that was mixed in on their putting area. Among the $60-80 putters I found one better at $30. They have a couple of mats to try out putters and 2 tee boxs to test out clubs. I picked up a hybrid 2 iron for $125 and has become one of my favorite clubs. I was not too familiar with some of the hybrids, but one of the salesmen was helpful to point out a good club at a good value (or a good value for a person with a 25 handicap). Good selection, good deals, my only warning would be to the wives and girlfriends; if you let your partner come here by themselves, they may never come back... read more

His low pressure assistance was outstanding - he listened to my description of my objectives, examined my swings on the Puetz in store 'range' and presented me with multiple options that met my objectives and swings. I've been a customer of Puetz's North end Seattle store for over 40 years. Great store, great people, great service. Unfortunately, I had the total misfortune to visit the Tacoma store. Non-existent customer service. 3 employees in the store and none of them could make a mgmt decision. In fact, Had to call the asst mgr, Jason, for a decision. The big dilemma was whether to swap one brand new club for another -reg v. stiff shaft. Wouldn't do it, mumbled some inane excuse about inventory. Suggest that the whole employee team plus the mgr go to customer service school. In fact, they could learn a lot just by visiting Nordstrom. Went down the street to Pro Golf Discount. They were fabulous. No problem whatsoever, did the swap and wished me a Merry Christmas. Bottom line, if you want service and understanding, NEVER go to the Puetz store in Tacoma. Actually, besides re-schooling mgmt and the employees , Puetz corporate might consider closing the store. If you need to go to a golf store in Tacoma then Pro Golf Discount would be the onlyone you should ever do business with. read more

I've been a golfer for years, with a respectable handicap, and I thought it was time to get a professional fitting for a new set of clubs. I chose Puetz Golf in Tukwila with Joe as my fitter (and mentor). What an amazing experience that was. I was nervous, since I wanted all my swings to be perfect (they weren't), and Joe made it easy to calm down with some tips for better shots. I visited the store over a two-week period so Joe got to know my game pretty well and had great recommendations for clubs, length, shaft flex, head angle, etc.. I never felt like he tried to up-sell me and I ended up buying a well-fitted set of clubs, which I feel very good about. read more

I went in last week looking to get fitted for a new driver, I had three in mind but was not sure which one I would feel the most comfortable with. The pro took me back to the launch monitor and asked me a few question about my swing to see if I was on the right track for club choice. At that time another guy walked in looking for a whole new bag set up, the pro's full attention immediately shifted towards him and pretty much just left me standing their. I decided to take full advantage of the launch monitor since it was already set up and went and grabbed the three clubs I was debating on. I decided on the driver I wanted the Callaway X Hot, waited a few moments to see if the pro was planning on coming back to help me at all..Guess not. Put the driver back, left the store drove down the street and purchased at their competitor along with the X hot fairway wood (sweet clubs, highly recommend!) I will still give it 3 stars since that is the only bad experience out of 20 or so I've had at Puetz and I hate to judge a company by one single employees lack of service. read more
