We have been here a few times now and make it a point to take family when they are visiting in town! Love the ambiance and train decor, and the coffee mug rack for regulars. The staff is always really friendly! Sometimes there is a decent wait for a table but I think the longest we have ever waited was 45 minutes. Parking can be a challenge too sometimes but eventually we find a spot. We love sitting by the windows near the tracks and watching when the trains pull in! All the food we have tried has been good. I believe the service are the only reason the restaurant stays open. I would highly suggest not allowing your teenage daughter to work in this facility.!!!!! They allow them to be in the building with grown ass men from the kitchen with no managers or owners left in the building they don't do background checks. Food is excellent! I had Corned Beef Hash, and it was made exactly how I like it. We ordered fries for our son, and they were almost undercooked (flimsy and pale). Service is good, as in staff is friendly, but it's slow, and I wasn't ever offered a refill on my drink. The seating is tight. They could remove a table or two so you don't feel like you're with the people at the table next to you. I also thought their kids' menu was a bit pricey. We paid $55 for breakfast for 2 adults and one 3 year old. I suppose that's inflation though. With all that said, they were packed, food was delicious, and I'm sure we will be returning customers. Ham steak with over medium eggs, hash browns, a biscuit and cup of sausage gravy My wife loved the eggs, hash browns and gravy but didn't care for the crepes, said they were too thick and chewy. Our waitress (unfortunately I don't remember her name) was awesome and gave us a sweet treat from her. It was an out of this world cinnamon roll. For our meals: I ordered a ham/cheese/tomato omelet that was very tasty and came with a generous helping of hash browns. Delicious! My friends ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and pork chops. They definitely get their sweet breakfasts right, the cinnamon rolls and pancakes are delicious every time. However, that being said, their savory breakfasts including their bacon and eggs are very lackluster. The bacon is almost always rubbery, and the eggs are straight up gross. Was excited to try this place as my first stop on my first visit to Grand Junction based on all the great reviews, but either people are really overrating it or I had a uniquely mediocre experience. Biscuits are supposed to be one of the big selling points, was very disappointed by the one with my breakfast - big but had a hard outer layer, did not seem fresh at all (really seemed like a giant Carls Jr biscuit from yesterday taken out of the fridge and warmed up). The other big selling point is the cinnamon rolls, didn't try one (wasn't in a sweets mood) but at $4 I would hope they're huge and good (and fresher than the biscuits). Everything else was just very basic - eggs, cheese, sausage etc. Fine but nothing special. Hash browns were the best bit, a little better than usual. Also, if you're on your way to catch a train this probably isn't a wise choice. Service is on the slow side despite multiple waitresses hustling around, which I think ties into the fact that you can also expect to wait behind any of the many local boomers that wander in as they get immediately served as they're seated ("That's Mr. Boomer! He always here! He live on Park Avenue!"). Realistically expect the whole meal to take an hour at least before you're out the door if you're not some local they recognize. Big portion sizes, prices about average for decent diners these days (ranging $10 for basic two eggs and hash browns to $18 for a 6 oz. steak with an omelette), but I'm a diner aficionado and all the food I had was unremarkable. It'll fill ya up and is OK but not worth a special trip, maybe just grab a cinnamon roll to go on the way to the train or something. read more
