They rent kayaks, sell boating supplies, and sell food and booze, both for drop-ins and locals/vacationers. The fish and chips from the snack bar - which I was very excited to try - tasted more like old fryer oil than fish, so that was a bummer, but the tartar was good and the staff is friendly. It's worth checking out the Puget Sound Estuarium's website if you're interested in the area wildlife, as our kids have participated in some of their activities at BHM.

Asked about the fish & chips and it sounded like their food was all frozen, not home made fresh batter dipped seafood, so not a knock your socks off meal but still very tasty, so if you are in the area & hungry, this is a nice place to dine, with a beautiful view of the harbor & boats right on the beach. Also had a perfect triple shot mocha Espresso with a shot of vanilla syrup, very nice & robust, based on the hot sleeve is Dancing Goats coffee which is one of the best local roasted coffee in Oly as its also associated with Batdorf & Bronson. the staff working there was very friendly & nice, and responded fast when I dinged the bell to get their attention, so over all I had a really nice relaxing dining experience outside overlooking the bay on a very nice day. All in all, not sure how open & welcoming the area is, parking was for customers only, marina sandwiched between the private local waterfront homes, so not sure how open it is to the public although from the marina you could go down on the beach. Not too far away is a very nice park though with hiking trails & short walk to the water, so might be a good place to eat before or after exploring the county park.

So we hit the road. Unfortunately when we arrived no one was there. We tried every number on their voicemail, but even after we waited for almost an hour, still nobody--and we have yet to get a call or explanation (or even a note on the door) why. So basically about four and a half hours and half a tank of gas wasted. I had a pretty low opinion of some brokers before this, (we've looked at a lot of boats, and this not the first time we've been stood up) but now I agree with a friend of mine (a marine mechanic), brokers are the bottom feeders of boating.

I sold a boat through them and it was an awful experience. We had to sell our boat (an old woodie…read morecirca 1930) on a contract, because we were in financial difficulty. I was foolish enough to think they vetted the buyer. I was also naive about contracts and trusted the broker. That was my biggest mistake. The first check from the buyer bounced and I've been fighting ever since to get the money or the boat back. I've invested $1600 in legal fees, to date. The contract they set up is garbage. Yet, they still got their commission. I'm still trying to get my boat back. They are incompetent and possibly dishonest. Do not do business with them.

I just wanted the motor easier to raise and lower. When I went to collect my boat a few days later, I was told it now had an electrical raising/lowering mechanism (I didn't need anything that fancy and it was not discussed with me). The point is the bill came to over $1200 on a boat not worth more than $6000. I was not excited with that bill. Yes, the oil and plugs had been changed but really? In addition, they had gotten beneath the deck to screw in bolts and unsettled everything - they couldn't even put back the cushions that were under there. It really wasn't appreciated that I had to clean up after them.

I mainly appreciate that as he explain how something works or what it does there's not a hint of condescension or that I'm wasting his time. Most recently I had to take my 84 Bayliner Capri in because the motor had quit. He suspected it was something with timing and he was right. He kept the cost of the repair to what he estimated, let me know about some other things to do or keep ab eye on, and also suggested I take it back out in the water before I start trying different props. That speaks to integrity as he could very easily sold a prop to a newbie like me right then and there!

Let me start off by saying that the effort in the sales department by Nick Bod and Eric was…read moreamazing. I would give these guys a A+ for effort to start. I purchased our brand spanking new VR4 from the Fife location in 2023. Buying the boat was the easy and painless part, now for the hard pill to swallow. The service department I totally and completely give a F conservatively. It completely feels like you buy the boat and then the customer service goes right out the window. The service department completely needs an overhaul it self. I figured that after spending the money I did with them on the purchase of the new bayliner, one would be more willing to do what it takes to keep the customer happy and coming back. For the past 2 and a half years, that has been not the case. I had to have several things fixed on our brand new boat, which was like asking the service department for their next of kin, and then then to be told that its fixed, when that wasn't the case. I have literally had to hound them consistently every year to fix the one main issue that was found on the day we bought the boat, which mind you, still has never been fixed to this day, to only now hear, "sorry, that's not under warranty anymore. Hummmm, well guess what, if it was actually fixed while it was under warranty, we wouldn't be writing this review. I feel that they will not be truthful and pack you full of sand to make you go away till your warranty expires just so that they can rake more money from you later. As I also feel they were very vague opportunist when it comes to winterizing and de-winterizing our boat. I haven't been a boat owner for long but was paying for what I thought was at least an oil change during the de-winterizing as I was told that its part of the process, to only find out on this last visit, that it was not the case, and has not been done since day 1. Well that would have been a very important thing to know back then. This is a terrible way to do business and should not be allowed, and how the owner could be okay with this, would be an embarrassment if it was my company. This establishment, I fell sorry for the operator, she's sounds over worked when no one will answer the phone, and scheduling anything is like asking the federal government for a personal loan. It never happens since no one will answer your call. And then their timelines to get your property back, we'll let just say, hope you didn't want to go boating anytime time soon, unless your riding their ass to get your boat back. And then, god forbid if you actually get a call from them letting you know that your boat is ready for pick up. I had to actually call and find out towards the end of day the status of my boat, and then to be told, "oh ya, it's been done waiting for you to pick up." LOL. ummm okay, I guess you have to be a physic to know when your boat is ready since they won't have the common courtesy to even take 2 minutes of their time to call. Who would have even thought. Do not work with this service department, Corey mostly. You'll never get the outcome your looking for when it comes to the customer service. There obviously is no standards for this department. There are plenty of very qualified mobile boat mechanics and also a very reputable place in Kent that would be more open to questions and concerns then Union Marine in Fife. I can not and would not recommend this location to purchase and maintain a new or used boat from. As a pilot, I believe and have high standards especially for safety and honesty, and Union Marine in Fife does not have any of those qualities. I don't like leaving a bad review for anyone, but when it comes to safety and honesty, that is where I feel that everyone should be warned and aware of.
