But that's ok bc the cost of having those perks would go into the cost of our visits and services so I am ok with better care by the staff and veterinarian than having a pretty and modern office. Located near Pulaski and 55th South, this animal hospital serves the Archer Heights, WestLawn and West Elston neighborhoods. This is the closest hospital and I don't have a car. I was apprehensive coming because it's been over a decade since my hansome black cat passed away. I did blame the hospital. But there are different doctors now. I have two cats who are middle aged. One of the cats has incontinence. This is the second time for tests. It's very clean in the reception area. There are some empathetic receptionists which I appreciate. Major credit cards are accepted or financing is allowed. I do like the female vet for my two kitties. I do appreciate that they take the cat for exams. I don't want them to run from me for the next vet visit. There is limited private parking. Staff are wearing masks and no covid tests are required. read more

I would have given a higher rating just for Dr. Christy taking care of my dogs for 13 years, however, now Dr. Christy is GONE. She has left this practice and instead of letting people know where she went they are telling people she moved "out of state". Both of my dogs have been seeing Dr. Christy only for over 10 years. The one time I brought one of my dogs in to see Dr. Christy, rather than tell me the day before that she would not be in, they just had the male doctor examine her. I was not at all happy about this. Dr. Christy knows exactly how to handle my dogs and they did very well with her. So until I can find out if she is actually at another practice in the Chicago area, I will be looking for another vet. I will NOT go back to Pulaski, especially after how dismissive they were of me when I tried to make an appointment today for an infection. I need morning appointments only as that is when I have a ride and I was told that it would be at least a month wait for a morning appointment. I said that I thought that was a bit ridiculous to have to wait that long. I was told by the person who answered the phone that there's only one doctor and if I'm going to put ANY restrictions on appointment times then I should just go find another vet. Then she asked me where she should email my dogs' records. Unbelievably RUDE. Keep it up and you won't have any customers left! Don't need to email me the records because I already got them as soon as I found out Dr. Christy was leaving. I am DONE with this place!!! When you tell your customers to leave, very few of them will stay. First off, "THEY ARE NOT A HOSPITAL, THEY ARE A CLINIC SPECIALTY CENTER AND THEY ARE NOT ACCREDITED BY AAHA (AMERICAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION)". This is what certain rude staff members and a irresponsible office manager have done to my beloved Emotional Support companions and myself. My senior pets were both diagnosed terminally ill. I submitted videos of my observation of the pain they were experiencing towards the end of their life. I had to wait five days to try and get a response on whether it was time to put my girls to sleep. I never received the promised, numerous, "I will return your call after I am done" from the office manager. The videos were viewed and deleted by the office manager at Pulaski Animal Hospital but my concerns were never addressed let alone passed onto my pets primary doctor. And on top of that Dr. Adam Szpindor who happens to be the owner of Pulaski Animal Hospital, abandoned my terminally ill companion and refused to treat her, she passed away. I kept a video journal of my experiences with this establishment. I did not even receive a sympathy card for my one Emotional Support companion and it was Pulaski Animal Hospital who euthanized my sweet little girl. My cousin is visiting from Ottawa and she got a new 4 Month old puppy on Tuesday from a breeder. The puppy was doing great until tjis morning. She was so spry and active playing with all her toys. Until this morning, she became very lethargic and restless. She was coughing alot and wheezing. Since I live in Archer Heights, and I have used Pulaski Animal Hospital in the past I called them and explained I have kind of an emergency situtation and if they could squeeze us in for an emergency appointment. We were told NO by the receptionist that they don't take emergency appointments. I was shocked that an animal hospital would be so uncompassionate. I should have asked the receptionist to ask Dr. Szpindor or one of the other vets if they could squeeze us in. Dr Szpindor is a compassionate vet and we probably would have said yes. I dont know why that receptionist would not have suggested speaking to a vet and why she was hiding behind some rule they have. An animals life could have been at stake. I am so disgruntled with the lack of good customer service now a days. I ended up getting in at Alvi animal hospital in Summit. They were able to take us in on an emergency basis when other vets werent.They treated our puppy. with IV and meds. weren't. to Alvi and I hope the puppy gets better... Be careful with Pulaski Animal Hospital. They vets are compassionate but the workers arent. read more

It's definitely gone downhill. I've been coming here since 2011 and it was an awesome place but it's a complete mess since like 2018. This definitely doesn't apply to everyone. Some people are treated better, others worse, whatever. This is just mine and my friend's experience. You can't expect an answer when you call anymore. You have to get sent to voicemail several times before one of your calls is answered and placed on hold. I don't mind waiting, but I always think about how horrible that would be if I was searching "animal hospital near me" because my pet was hurt only to be answered with "let me put you on hold" and having to wait another 5-15 minutes. Before they used to call the day before or morning of to confirm your appointment, but not anymore. The wait times have gotten ridiculous. You ask the soonest time and it's something like two or three months out. For vaccinations or something chill, I can maybe understand, but for something like tumors, sudden but non life threatening injuries and other things like that it's stupid. An emergency room is for when an animal's life is in danger. The customer service isn't necessarily rude, but they definitely don't seem to care about the pets. When I called (a month ago) to set up an appointment for my pet, they just asked if the day worked and wanted to hang up. They didn't even ask or let me tell them why I wanted to make the appointment in the first place. I had to ask them to wait and explain why I wanted to bring in my dog. When I showed up it turns out the person who took my appointment gave me the wrong day. I keep seeing this place be reviewed amazingly and I'm so happy for people who are having a good experience, and I hope they keep having great experiences. Finding a vet you trust your pet with can be hard, unfortunately I can never seem to get an appointment with mine. I would like to thank Dr Christy & her team at Pulaski Animal Hospital for the professionalism, care & compassion shown our 2 year old English Bulldog Pal Booey. I brought him to the clinic as over the course of 2 days he was barely breathing, dehydrated & lethargic. Love my pups doctor not a fan of the appointment scheduling they have. Every time I have an appointment I have to wait 30-40 mins because they're not ready. And every time I call I'm on hold for at least 15 mins. Just don't understand why they're always backed up. Brought my cat here two days ago because I feel like she has ear mites. Vet told me they couldn't examine her because she was under a lot of stress and was biting (which I understand) they went ahead and still gave me treatment for her ear mites. I've been doing research today and found out the ear is supposed to be cleaned before starting treatment (crucial step) they NEVER communicated this with me and I am extremely furious because I care about my cat and want the best for her. I am extremely worried now that something will go wrong because I started treatment before cleaning. Oh and also, they charged me a $27 examination fee WHEN THERE WAS NO EXAMINATION. One of my nearest and dearest friends has her baby put to sleep around a month ago. Prior to this they screwed up her dogs test results. Never took them, never sent them in. Once they did, they failed to notify them. Now they forgot to send her precious baby in the freezer for a month. They never sent her in for her cremation. She's been sitting there for a month. Once again it's about the money. At one time this hospital was amazing, until they became money hungry (300% up charges on supplies), now became too big for their britches, can not handle a busy office, misplacing blood work, not sending it in, now forgetting to send a pet in for cremation??? He still had a catheter in and they literally just told me "We are booked and the doctor said that since he is unstable we can't take him". He still has a catheter in! They won't help at all. I took a stray cat in, and I decided to take her here for a basic wellness check.The vet did tell me that she was pregnant, and that they couldn't do anything for me, but that they had suspected flea poop. Regardless, though they didn't tell me anything else and I was charged $100. I decided to join a Facebook group where more knowledgeable people were there to get a second opinion because if she was pregnant and had fleas, I didn't want her to be at risk. I literally found out that she could've gotten flee anemia. I later learned about ear mites once I noticed that she shakes her head, however due to her being pregnant. I cannot give her any treatment. Right now, so I've been just trying to clean her ears as safely as possible, as well as bathing her with Dawn dish soap and combing her with a tick comb, and I found no fleas thank fully. I'm sure that if they would've seen the ear mites on her, they would've told me however, she has all the symptoms and it would've been nice for me to know that regardless if they couldn't have done anything for me because of her pregnancy. I feel like I wasn't given the proper care for my kitty. It could've been a complete misunderstanding, and the girls at the front desk are so sweet however, from the veterinarian in particular, I feel like I was completely disregarded because she was pregnant. I will unfortunately take my business elsewhere and go to a more attentive veterinarian because of this situation. read more

This is the best place to take your pets. Staff is awesome, the veterinarians are caring and thorough, I never feel rushed even when they are super busy. They always try to help people who don't have an appointment but have some sort of emergency (not me personally but I've seen other people while I wait for my pet to be seen) and while it would be easy to just turn them away given how busy they are they don't. When my beloved 9 year old cat Zeus passed away earlier this year at another veterinary place, the staff at Pulaski Animal Hospital somehow found out and sent me a beautiful card (signed by every single person who works there) to comfort our grieving family and let me tell you that meant a lot to me to know that they are very caring and thoughtful people. We have since adopted 2 new furry kitties and will continue to trust Pulaski Animal Hospital with all our pet needs. My family has taken every family pet here since the early 80's. It used to be the place to beat. However, lately it has been very hard to get an appointment unless you go for their walk-in lottery in Sundays and wait for hours. I've been turned away at the door, and while waiting for my appointment I've seen others have the same experience. Some of the doctors are wonderful, but some of them are not as skilled. You'll get first availability unless you ask for a vet by name. In the past, I've had my dog rushed into the back because he got stung by a bee and the vet recognized that he was having a severe reaction. But I've also been told my dog who was passing bloody stool couldn't get an appointment until over a week later. Worst, we had a doctor say maybe my dog had bloat but it was probably a tumor. It was bloat, and we had to rush him to emergency care at midnight. He didn't survive. read more

I was somewhat apprehensive, having had no personal referral, and it is really far from where I live. However, prices are extremely reasonable, the staff is very caring, conscientious and thorough in their care and they do great work! They also don't try to sell you on unnecessary treatment or services and treat you and your furry friend with respect and care. I took my cat in to get some dental work done, and it was about half the cost of what my previous vet charges. Sure, it is far from where I live, but well worth the drive. I saw Dr. Szpindor, who was very warm and kind and honest about my pet's needs. He also gave me an estimate up front without batting an eye (the other Chicago vet I've used seems to think that money is no object - when asking for estimates on services and treatment I get the impression that I am committing a faux-pas). Highly recommended to anyone in the Chicago area looking for a reasonably-priced, good quality veterinarian's office. read more

Listen, all my family brought their critters here when the place was a more mom-&-pop type place. Since they rennovated it, I have seen the place lose its sincerity. The vets are pushing unnecessary things for the $ while they forget to contact their customers with updates which they used to be stellar about. Just as an example, I had tests done that were never included on my pet's history. They forgot to call or send me a postcard for booster updates yet I had been there for another emergency (still didn't tell me then), while there I asked them to check a lump which they missed noticing while my pet was in for 2 days then when I brought the critter back in for check up a month later, they run other unecessary tests (according to vets I used to work with) while all-together missing the huge swollen lump that they didn't do anything (not even take samples) when they should have done so a month back! I had to insist they take samples then & they charged me even more (offered me to have it read ASAP for about 150 vs. 50 if I wait a week! They were supposed to call me about it yesterday & haven't bothered to do so. If by today I don't get a call, I am going where my vet friends recommended I go to. I am so disappointed! They used to be top notch! My pet passed away. It was 4 different things. The place sent me a signed greeting card to console me. They were originally caught by my vet there but he was never available (because everyone wants him) so I went to other vets there that were free. He was the one to check the results, help me make my pet's suffering stop & even understood that after spending over $5000 on the matter, I was broke. If I were guaranteed that I would only see THIS VET, I would go back to the place. If not, I will go elsewhere. I know they are trying to keep up with demand but if they are too busy to tend to each critter as they once used to, I would rather take them to a smaller vet office to get one on one care. I had to put my lovely cat to rest after a really challenging struggle with FELV. I was going to Brighton Park for his treatment but felt like they weren't the best and was not satisfied with their services. Price had also become a challenge (which was super unfortunate) due to all of his vet bills. I came to Pulaski Animal Hospital because the price wasn't ridiculous and it wasn't far from my home. The place was immaculately clean and I was treated with respect and kindness. The staff were very understanding of my fragile situation. They were gentle with him and allowed me as much private time as I needed with him before and after he passed away. About four days later I received a sympathy card in the mail that was hand written from the office. IT was signed by all of the staff- and in no way promoted them but just straight up gave us love and and recognized us as grieving individuals. I will forever be grateful for them for being so kind in our time of need. I know my reviews tend to be snarky- but this one has no room to be. I needed help and they helped me in a very gentle way. The only drawback to this place is that it's a little more expensive than other vets on the southside I've been to. Now with that out of the way, let's go on to the positives. I've been here for both cats and dogs. The doctors and vet techs are knowledgeable, friendly, and have a great bedside manner with the animals. Even with my one cat who is absolutely terrified of vets (and can be very aggressive), they were able to draw blood and urine for tests without trouble (other places I've been have had to knock him out). Additionally, they were able to diagnose my cat with IBD when other vets were not able to do so. read more

Watch your pets Prescription! I refilled a prescription for my Dog last week, when I went to give him one I noticed that the pills were 4 times as big as the pills we were giving him for years. I thought maybe they changed providers and its the same, just a different size. We noticed that He was sleeping much more then usual and when awake, seemed groggy. I called their office and was asked to bring the pills in to see them. When I brought them in they took them in the back then came out with a new container with the correct prescription, but when I asked if we were Over Dosing our Dog I really didn't get an answer. I said "you could have killed my Dog" then she just turned and walked away. Always check before you leave the office! read more

This place is great. The staff and vets are very nice and helpful and everything is very clean. Price-wise, I think services are reasonably priced and again, you are paying for great service. Our vet, Dr. Bailek (sorry if I misspell), was great. She was so nice and helpful and not at all scared by Thomas, my 10-year-old Chihuahua who looks adorable but won't have people (even me) trying to grab his face. My only small issue with this place is that when I have called to make an appointment or check up on my dog, sometimes I am put on hold for longer than I would deem reasonable. To me this means, more than 4-5 minutes. That has happened twice so I just hang up and call again a little later and that usually works. I'd definitely recommend. Te building itself is good, clean and not packed like other places. The doctor I had was great she seemed to be concern about my dog. The receptionist are pretty much average, they just go there for their pay check, it seems like they don't care much for whats happening to the pets. price, it's ok I guess, not too expensive but not cheap either. Love this place!! I've probably seen all the vets there, and they are all very nice. I have a chihuahua who is very nervous, and doesnt really like other people. The vets are very understanding and they talk to him and calm him down. One time he got this bump on his butt (his anal gland was swollen) and i took him like 15min before they closed and they still took him in, and did surgery and everything. I also told the vet that i wasnt financially prepared, so i didnt know if i would be able to pay everything that night. She was so understanding and allowed me to go on a payment plan. Also when i got him nuetered they recommended i go to PAWS because it was cheaper. So they not only care about animals but they care about the owners too. Chachis has been going there since he was born(he's now 3) and they are still awesome. I would definitly recommend this place! read more

This was my second visit here, and it was GREAT, at least for me it was, I don't think Nippers and I share the same warm feelings about the place. The staff is super nice and the doctors are even nicer. I could tell they cared about the animals and was pleased they were equally loving to both dogs and cats. (I.E Nippers the cat). Prices were very reasonable and the place was as clean as I would expect a veterinarians office. No offensive smells. Aside from being fussy from the pain, my cat was very comfortable with the staff. Its a bit of a drive for me but I think I've found his permanent vets office. P.S Dr. Szpindor is an kind doctor. He told me exactly what was wrong with my cat without trying to dump a million procedures into our pockets, and he answered all questions honestly and politely. read more
