We ordered takeout food at the window tonight. The person taking orders looked to be 13 or 14 years old and did not let us know that our order had been done and sitting on the table in a bag for about 10-15 min. She served two other parties who ordered after us and never let us know our food was just sitting there getting cold. It ruined both our dinners. We decided that we won't be going back. read more

This was a lot better than I expected . We have stayed at the DAR multiple times but never stoped here. I missed something. It is a simple place clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful . A little distracted at times but they always came around. I had the fish fillet sandwich. It was nicely fried and generous. The tarter source was above average with a pronounced pickle flavor. The fries were crispy and good. My wife had the grilled cheese which was a simple grilled tasty bread with a generous filling of cheese. Just as simple grilled cheese should be. No embellishments. Just cheese, bread and butter. This is an unassuming spot but has a cute vibe and good food! Their coffee cake muffin was delicious. Moist and cakey. Eggs were perfect and fluffy. I heard they also have good lobster rolls and seafood but we didn't try that. Coffee was great. Ambiance is cozy and nice. Servers are extremely friendly and accommodating. Great service. Very nice staff, very polite and engaged. Food was phenomenal. I had the special "Apple crisp French toast" and holy hell what a treat. I can't begin how to describe or explain it, I'll just say you must try if it's available! Crab cake Benedict, Regular Benedict and Lobster Benedict were had by the rest of our group and not a negative thing could be said because everyone was so busy enjoying their food. Only thing that could've been better is if the "home fries" were a tad softer and seasoned. Otherwise great place, great atmosphere, great food. Will visit again. read more

Great place. The food is excellent and the portions are large and are a great value. Parking can be a bit challenging. The staff has obviously been there for a while. They're very efficient and competent. My favorites are anything with lobster and the fish and chips which is enormous and fresh as can be. You'll enjoy this place for sure. read more

I jus LOVE the Williamsburg Snack Bar. They're busy but they keep the coffee coming. They work hard to keep Ken and I happy. I usually get a Rowboat with two over hard eggs, wheat toast and then the healthy option which is a substitute for hash browns in the form of a dry salad. I could have dressing except I like my salads dry and it saves calories. If I want to splurge I get a tasty omelette with Spinach, Mushrooms and Cheddar Cheese. Finally, if I want a real treat, I buy the Jetty, which is eggs over hash browns and served in a cast iron skillet. They have great lunches you and some tasty (mostly?) homemade desserts. Friendly place with a great selection of breakfast and lunch items. Tables, picnic tables and a lunch counter, with a take out window too! Our server gave us time to talk and decide our orders, and kept the coffees hot. Food came out fast and hot, big breakfasts with toast and potatoes included. Travelled down from Vermont to have lunch here because a woman I know makes the most delicious cookies and scones for this restaurant . I chose the fish Reuben and my friend ordered the lobster roll . She loved hers .. very little Mayo and a good amount of lobster . My fish was really good too as it was really flaky white fish in a light batter and cooked to a "T" ..sometimes the fish is thin and hardtack .. not this . I actually brought half of it home for dinner . Of course , we left with two bags of cookies and scones and we will definitely return. A funny place with old-school throw-back vibes for days! They have a very basic menu and it's not all the greatest food, but it's homey and convenient. It's an unattractive room that feels like a camp mess-hall with a bar in the middle.They do an excellent job on the fried seafood stuff, served like it might still be the 1960's in the kitchen. There are some misnamed items on the menu, like a crab cake po-boy, which was just a crab cake on a white hamburger bun with slaw. Huge exaggeration to call it a po-boy, yet is was still yummy, though small. Made the mistake of ordering the iced tea the first time I went--it seemed to be made from a mix (also fitting the retro vibes). It's not the cleanest place in the world. WOW. Just wow. I had their lobster rolls, after reading reviews after reviews, and am proud to join this army ("cult") that can't stop raging about their lobster rolls. The meat bouncy, fresh, buttery. With a hint of fresh lemon, it sent me straight to heaven and back. Can't wait to come back to try fish & chips and other meals. Williamsburg Snack Bar looks like a hole in the wall, but when you walk in, the decor feels like you're at a fish shack on Cape Cod, with an industrial chic twist. It was a surprise to find delicious seafood away from the coast. The clam chowder was creamy and tasty. The crispy battered fried haddock portion was huge. Cinnamon rolls were one of the daily specials and I gave in to temptation and had one for dessert. It was served warm and the cream cheese icing was beginning to melt, just like homemade. This place is a hidden gem that is located kinda far from the town. My family and I had their lobster roll, clam chowder and fire chicken tenders and they were all excellent. Their lobster roll however was the best I've ever had. Even better than all the lobster rolls I've had in restaurants in Maine. On top of that, the server was extremely kind and attentive and their parking lot is very good as well. The price is extremely reasonable as well and they give generous portions. The food (the bread is especially great) used to be worth driving for, but the staff has been so rude and less than accommodating that I've sworn them off at this point. I used to love coming here when I visited my in-laws for breakfast, but the slow service and bad attitudes from the women that work here are just so off putting that it ruins the whole experience. Their breakfast is much better than their lunch options (basically greasy spoon bar food) and if you're lucky you might end up with your order correct and still warm enough to eat. It's sad to see one of the only breakfast options in this area go downhill so quickly. Oh, and for you gluten free folks, beware there's a 2 dollar upcharge for a slice of GF toast. read more

We came here with 6 adults and 2 children for breakfast. The staff were friendly, especially to our toddler. Service was great, food was amazing, restaurant was clean with a beach theme, and prices were very fair. Food was amazing. Most people cleaned off their plates! Yes - this place is amazing. Its hard to believe such great food comes out of a place smaller than your bedroom. The sign advertising whole belly clams caught my eye - especially since we were nowhere near the ocean. I was skeptical, but had driven by a few times and it was always packed which told me we had to visit. We stopped by yesterday on the way home and unfortunately they were sold out of all clams, but the rest of the food didn't disappoint. We ordered fish and chips and I watched them hand dip fresh haddock and drop it into the fryer. It was excellent, as was the BLT. The pulled pork sandwich was a little 'saucy' for my tastes, but still good. Seating consists of pastel painted picnic tables placed on a bed of crushed shells and gravel - several of which are under an awning. All in all a great experience with really good, fast, cheap food! I used to get food to go from there , but three out of three times there was always something missing or wrong.

I am so disappointed to write this because we have been here often and really liked it. my husband and I have go e in here the last two Sundays for breakfast. Last week we sat at the bar and the place was not very busy and there were plenty of staff. We sat there at least 12 minutes and were never acknowledged or brought menus or anything. We saw a couple of tables come in after us and were brought me us. I finally spoke up as we were leaving and told someone. Then I called back to speak to manager because I thought they should know. We went back today to give them another try and believe it or not we sat at a table again over 10 minutes and two other tables that came in well after us were brought menus and silverware. I just couldnt believe this happened again. We walked out again! read more

The Caribbean pieces of flare are a charming touch -- the brightly colored benches and Adirondack chairs. It's still a shack in the middle of nowhere, and you eat outside, but make the trip. I had a really excellent lobster roll for less than $7 and an awesome bowl of butternut squash soup, served with a slice of pear over the side of the cup. The place is an enigma. It can't be more than five feet by three feet large, and most of that space is taken up by the at least three people working there. Yet they can pull together pretty excellent meals such as lobster - lobster!! - for less than $7. In New York you would only be permitted to look at a lobster for $7. Good destination if you don't have one. They are open seasonally. I believe that they close at the end of October, so call ahead. read more

Their lobster rolls are the best in the area...loaded with lobster, not overly-dressed... fish that is hand-dipped and fried right in front of you... clams... pulled pork... and it's a beautiful drive out Rte 9 to get there. A perfect destination for those meandering let's-get-in-the-car-and-go-nowhere-in-particular-but-wind-up-somewhere-cool mini road trips. read more
