Drove up to Dry Falls Wednesday, and saw a sign for the town of Pumpkinton. Having recently relocated from New England, seeing anything "witchy" immediately drew interest from my wife and me. So, when we left the falls and wanted to eat something, we Yelped for food, and found this place!!! And it's everything you'd expect from a little general store in the middle of nowhere. It's got charm, it's locals, and a diverse enough menu that you could eat 3-squares a day here. Service was prompt and friendly. The decor was interesting (even if the display stuff for sell was not well organized). And the ambiance was quaint and calming. Sadly, the one thing I really wanted to buy (a sticker of all things) was currently out of stock. But I'm certain, the next time we are in this area, we'll stop here again. My wife had her heart set on visiting a little town she saw on the map called Pumpkintown after our elopement. On 11/19, we were married at Pretty Place at sunrise and then headed to the Pumpkintown General Store for breakfast. She was still in her wedding dress, and the moment we walked in, the entire restaurant stood and cheered. The owner came over, introduced himself, offered the kindest congratulations, and even surprised us by covering our meal. The staff was incredible, the food was delicious, and we were welcomed with the kind of hospitality you'd expect from family, not strangers. It was an unforgettable part of our wedding day, and we're already planning to return. We can recommend this place enough. read more

We went here on a Saturday morning out of curiosity and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in. They only serve breakfast until 11, and then their lunch menu until closing. We ordered a classic bacon cheeseburger and a regular bacon hamburger. We really liked how fresh the ingredients were, especially how large and juicy the meat patty was. The original fries were okay, but the curly fries were really delicious and extra crispy. The slaw was good, but not an item I would order again. All the condiments were topped off and readily available at every table. We really liked the feel of the restaurant and the rustic vibe that it has, it was very cozy in a cold winter day. Caution- we did see people walk in close to 2pm- they were allowed to order but they were told that they stop taking orders around 1:45 fyi. Will re-visit if I am in the area again and plan on going hungry to try their double bacon cheeseburger! read more

Definitely don't order the fish! The menu says 8-10oz of fish and what is served is about 2 oz. And it didn't have any flavor. We had to eat again when we got home. read more

About as small town country as it gets. Good basic home cooking in a really old repurposed building. One of those places where the locals hang out and the staff seems to know most of the customers. Fun place to grab lunch if you're not looking for something fancy. read more

This is one of the closest restaurants to Table Rock State Park, just on the other side of a small mountain. We were in the mood for a burger, and saw this place had some great reviews and it didn't disappoint! We got a couple of burgers, chicken fingers, fries and onion rings to-go. When we went in to pick it up, it was super busy and looked like a great small-town atmosphere. On the outside, looks like an old convenience store that acquired a restaurant. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but comfy seating, the staff is friendly, and the food is very good. If you're trying to decide between hashbrowns and home fries, I've had both and I recommend you go with the home fries. The hash browns are good, But the home fries are amazing, and a very generous portion. And if you like bologna, get the bologna egg and cheese biscuit. Wow! read more

Always wanted to stop in but it's usually packed- I was lucky today! It was pretty busy even though it wasn't lunch time- had to wait a few minutes for the waiter to come over, but that's normal- it was busy. My husband ordered a hamburger plate- he said it was good. If you are wanting a homemade, hand patted hamburger patty, then this little country restaurant is for you. Be sure you are not in a hurry, since the server takes his time and there is no rush to get the food out. But the food is worth the wait. They have a mixture of chairs, tables, and booths to sit in, with a few bar stools at the counter to watch them cook. Everything is reasonable and simple, but full of flavor. If you are eating with someone else, place an order of half and half French fries and onion rings to split. The burgers are a meal in themselves, and I almost couldn't finish mine! I went with the chili cheeseburger, and my mom ordered the regular cheeseburger. We only got mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, and onions on them, but that was all we needed! We were looking for a hole in the wall, mom and pop restaurant. Jackpot !!. What Great find. Down home atmosphere with a buffalo head mounted on the wall. This place yells history. It's a great little greasy spoon with great prices. I'm the seventh to review it ? Wow, you can tell very few people on Yelp come out this far. But, it's well worth the drive. The burger was an awesone 1/3 lb burger at least and the fries spilling over the plate. All for $575. You just can't get any better burgers. Plus, we got great service. The owner even came by to ask us how we liked our food. We enjoyed having a nice conversation with him as well. We will make an effort to come back. read more

Needed a place near Table Rock St. Park for an occasional meal out, and there sure aren't many. We tried this place because I always prefer local eateries over chain establishments, plus it was recommended by a park employee as always looking crowded at meal time -- good sign. We loved it there. Cannot beat the old-time, country atmosphere of a general store that truly takes you back in time. But know that the restaurant section is clean as can be, as is the bathroom. Our breakfast was great with nice-sized servings, & our waiter was very attentive & nice. Really glad to know we have a really good alternative to campfire cooking! Great food, great service, love the environment, and love the prices. We ate breakfast there this morning. I especially liked their biscuits and I like that the grits are already buttered and salted when they're served. They're lightly buttered/salted, but they're edible and taste good from the start, which is more than can be said for most restaurant grits these days. All in all, I would eat there again and have already referred them to a family member. read more
